Several teal fins broke the surface tension of the lake, followed quickly by a set of ears, a head and finally half the stallion's body. Adriatic cast his gaze along the shoreline as he slowly chewed on a mouthful of thick moss. There wasn't a soul in sight he noted. He was used to seeing at least one or two travelers getting a drink...or even the local forest life. The stallion swallowed and focused on the closest place to him. At least there were other hoof prints in the mud and sand, so someone had been there and gone while he was getting his lunch.
"Weird that they moved on so fast...wonder if a predator is hanging around today. Wouldn't be surprised..." He mumbled, cautiously looking towards the treeline. As long as it wasn't a skinwalker skulking about, Adriatic figured things would be alright. He cast another glance around the perimeter of the lake and dunked himself back under to grab another mouthful of the sweet moss.

The fog over the surface of the lake worked well enough to shield the kelpi from view of the returning mare, wings spread as she landed, before tucking them back against her body. She had left only to stretch her wings, and as far as she knew there wasn't a predator about...But that didn't mean there wasn't. With a sigh she settled back down where she had been before, bending down to get a drink.
She wasn't expecting any company at all, especially as she drank deeply from the lake. Though...Perhaps company wouldn't exactly be a bad thing.

The surface of the water broke again as the stallion came back to the surface, easily continuing his munching on the moss. Swallowing, he gazed about, noting the fog that had started to roll in since his last dive. "Huh...doesn't happen much..." He shrugged to himself and started swimming towards the shoreline, unaware of the presence of another nearby. Within seconds of touching land and dragging himself out, Adriatic stretched and attempted to get his head as high above the rolling cloud as much as possible.
Still nothing. Not as far as he could see in front of him anyway. Still, it didn't make it any less dangerous if it was a predator in the area. He knew it wasn't like he couldn't escape. He knew the area well and most couldn't swim this far inland anyway, so just diving back into the lake and going to the bottom would save his hide if needed. The kelpi snorted a bit at the situation in his mind and started circling to the other side only to come face to feather with the wings of the new visitor.

The silence on the water made the appearance of the kelpi a bit more of a shock, though it wasn't until the mare, having had her fill of water, straightened back up and stretched her wings that she noticed the stallion. The contact of her delicate feathers against Adriatic's snout caused her to jerk away, turning herself towards this new intruder. Eyes wild with surprise, she finally calmed down once she got a good look at her new companion.
"Sorry..." The words came out far more meekly than she had expected, and with a brief shake, she folded her wings against her back neatly, coughing out the slightest bit of water she'd swallowed wrong in shock. "I didn't know there was anyone around."

Adriatic quickly back peddled a few steps to give the mare plenty of space...and himself incidentally, should she attack. His fins bristled up a bit as he kept a close eye on her. Though it didn't take long before she spoke...and sounded completely non-threatening in every way possible. He began to relax, offering a smile to her through the fog between them.
"No, I should be the one who's sorry. I came out of nowhere, though I can usually see better...and don't get many visitors." His smile widened, despite looking a right mess and still dripping with water. "If you'd like, I'll gladly leave you alone however...let you get whatever you want and be on your way. S'not fair to hold you here just to talk...not like I have much going on anyway or anything exciting to talk about...." He continued to ramble on a bit, eventually slowly drifting out as he realized she had no room to speak if he continued to run his mouth.
"...sorry again...."
