Many over the last decade have seen me and my roleplaying antics all over Gaia. I have made several attempts to put together an extremely literate work of entertainment. I have been unsuccessful thus far. But I have many main characters that follow a particular flow. I am not sure how I want it to end but my hardest part is the NAME/TITLE and the BEGINNING.

Please Comment Here

My following post will be mostly jot notes regarding plot points, characters, or situations to involve.

Prologue
Part 1

Thunder began to roar in the desolate dark clouds above a dead and dry field. A large fortress of steel and metal sat at the center. Barbed wire steel fences kept hold of a dark secret within. Large scale jeeps belonging to humans in military attire. Camouflage colors of green and brown littered them, hiding all but their face beneath a helmet. They each wielded a gun strapped across their chests. They were machine gun rifles. Search lights stayed on the sky scanning it continuously.

Unbeknown to the guards was a figure flying in the sky moving towards them. This figure was covered in dark purple and black clothing. His hair was dark violet with a white streak in the center. His eyes were brown with yellow slits in them seeing far further than any human could. His black raven wings flapped in the air helping him to stay high while riding the winds. the thunder roared again and the rain began to fall.

A search team noticed a far off shadow caused by the lightning and moved the spotlight accordingly. They could see an approaching intruder. A loud siren bellowed as several automated turrets raised themselves from under the ground and began to open fire. Balls of light began to shoot upwards from the ground towards the intruder.

The creature in the sky lighted his right side as he began to maneuver himself through the hail of fire. The weapons seemed to have difficulty locking onto him as suddenly his right wing is struck and he begins to fall. The weapons continue to shoot at him however with his steady and experienced left wing he is able to evade the barrage and crash directly into the side of the building into a lab.The alarm continues to sound as troops begin to move in the building towards the room that the creature crashed into.

Three scientists see the figure covered in rubble and bleeding and begin to approach thinking it to be dead. The rubble slowly begins to move however before the scientists could react a shock wave burst from his form sending their bodies crashing into the walls indenting them. The figure gets up, his body has a few minor cuts and scraps but the figure presses on as he exits the room letting the corpses fall from the wall onto the floor. In the hallway there seems to be several scientists in a panic running from him.

"Mercury needed something... What was it again?" he said aloud as a little blood trickled down from his forehead. The crash seemed to have damaged his memory. He lifted his right hand to his head and he let out a mild groan.

The troops arrived as they littered the hallway in a wall with 3 troops knelt down on a single knee and three more standing. All of them had their weapons raised and aimed for the dark figure.

"Surrender now!! Get on the ground now!! Hands above your head!!" shouted one of the troops.

The next moment happen so fast no present human could understand it. The creature raised his hand and it began to spark with lightly colored blue lightning. The troops opened fire sending dozens of machine gun rounds at him. From his fist arose a ball of energy comprised of wind and lightning. The force expanded forward as it deflected each bullet in its path. Once the field hit the troops they were all sent flying backwards into the wall.

"I remember... There is a serum I need to get" he said as he began to move forward. The shadowy creature continued to move down the hallway turning a corner all the while the siren was still blazing. Footsteps could be heard as another wave of troops turn the corner to greet him. The figure made a fist and punched forward sparking a powerful bolt of lightning that cut through the sound barrier like a cackle of thunder. The troops were electrocuted, their smoldering corpses fell to the ground as a little smoke lifted into the air above them. This did not stop the intruder as he made his way to a room marked 'Bio-Engineering Laboratory'.

The figure kicked the door down seeing a lone scientist cower. He grabbed him by the scruff of his neck quickly and held him for a moment before speaking, "The metal infusion formula. My Mistress desires it. Where is it?!" he demanded.

The scientist didn't speak out of fear, his hands gripped the creatures wrists but were not strong enough to force his release. His eyes darted to a nearby storage container. The creatures eyes followed his and dropped the human scientist on his butt then proceeded to the storage container. He opened the container and saw the vial. Just as he was grabbed a hail of bullets came at him from along side of him. He didn't notice them enter the laboratory as he turned towards them for a moment. Blood began to leak from his lips and run down his chin. He looked poised to strike as he sudden collapsed on the ground and began to light up in flames.

The troops moved in watching the body of the creature burn as his corpse quickly turned to ash. Work began as they began to close off the area. The troops weren't sure what to say regarding it as the began consulting the the other troops and scientists who gathered onto that floor.

"Perimeter secured. No other intruders located. Intruder was killed and his body seemed to burn once he was struck. Still investigating" one troops said. He appeared to be an officer as he moved tot he aid of the scientist the creature attacked, "What was he after?" he asked.

The scientist replied, "The formula for the metalized human we were going to create. It wasn't ready for human testing though. I don't understand why someone would want it..." he said as his sight was partially blinded by a strange flash.

The creatures ashed lit up as his body reformed almost instantly. The wing and body he had once pierced by bullets were fully healed. He immediately unleashed another shock wave pulse of plasma magic. The forced wiped out the floor sending the scientists and troops flying off away from him. All the lights and electronics in the building failed leaving only emergency lights and systems active. The creature once again reached for the serum and then proceeded to leave. He noticed the scientist was still alive and even approached him.

The man began to cower from the creature, "How did you survive? You were dead and gone! How did this happen?" he said as he began to panic further.

"I am unique, I am special. My Mistress granted me abilities beyond your control. I am manipulate Wind and Lightning, combining them to do what you see here now. I can fly with my unique body and as you seen I can rise again from the ashes with my phoenix heart" he said as he opened his cloak to reveal stitches running along his body in multiple places. Around his chest where his heart should be was a bright reddish-orange glow.

"My name is Nylux Ravencross. I am the servant of the Vampire and Scientist Mercury. I will spare your life. Do not come after me" he said as he turned and began to walk away. The troops were all either dead or knocked out for the time being as he went back to the hole he crashed into. His wings spread as he took off through that hole using his mastery of wind to boost him further. A few ground turrets were still active as they began to open fire on him. It was too late though. He escaped their range quickly with his prize in hand.

Prologue
Part 2

Nylux traveled a long distance through the skies into an area partially clouded over in the dead of night. The moon was a quarter full and glowing down on the land. The area was covered in a lush forest with a stone castle visible in the distance. A few gentle sounds of flapping wings echoed in the night sky before he began to descend. Nylux landed in the middle of a garden lush with green leaves, bushes and other foliage. The young creature traveled forward towards a doorway. It was a single door constructed of both wood and steel. He opened it letting the door creak open towards a light inside. He entered casually and traveled down stone steps into a large open room. The room was covered in test tubes and science equipment. It was clearly a laboratory. Near the center were two tables looking like they were used for operations or dissection.

"Mistress? I have returned with the serum you requested" he said speaking aloud as his head moved from direction to direction looking for his Mistress.

"Coming!!" spoke a feminine voice. From down a hallway emerged a beautiful and young looking woman with wavy scarlet red hair. Her eyes were violet and gleamed in the light of the room. Her large chest was covered by a surgical apron and she appeared to be wearing a surgeons outfit. Her movements made loud clicking sounds she appeared to be wearing tall high heeled leather boots. She immediately moved to Nylux wrapping her arms around him and kissed his cheek longingly.

"Awww... Mon petite, you have done well" she said as she gently took the serum from his hand. She released him and then moved to some of her equipment and began extracting the liquid using her instruments to mix it with another chemical.

"Did you have any trouble aquiring it? Are you hurt anywhere?" she asked sounding a little concerned.

"No Mistress. I had no trouble. My powers were enough to handle their defenses. I was careless and I died once. My heart saved me though" he explained seeming ashamed for his failure.

"Oh? That means your blood is fresh and new" she said speaking playfully as she let the new serum shake in a machine and she once again placed her arms over the winged man. The young woman kissed his neck before opening her mouth and extending her fangs. She immediately bit into him and began to slowly drink some of his blood.

Nylux didn't resist as she drank from him bringing him to the brink of losing consciousness. Once she let go she guided him to one of the tables and let him lay down on it to rest. The vampire licked her lips with a satisfied grin.

"I love your blood my young pet. Hawkmen are a truly rare breed of creature. What would my life have been without you?" she said aloud leaving Nylux to sleep.

The young Vampiress proceeded to her work as she finished mixing the vial. Snapping her fingers a large wolf creature emerged with another on it's back. The wolf had grey skin almost looking lot it was rotting off of him. He seemed to be carrying a human on his back who appeared to be knocked out and drugged.

"Put him on the other table Coux-Joe. I need to begin right away before this serum spoils" she said.

The wolf creature didn't respond merely grunted as it began to throw the human up on the table as commanded before moving away and curling under a nearby desk to watch.

"Thank you my pet" she stated before she moved tot he subject securing his wrists and ankles in place. She took another look at her subject before hooking an IV needle into his arm and then injecting the serum directly into his blood stream.

"Reginald Fairbanks. You shouldn't have come to kill me. The problem with human assassins is that they are easy to detect. But fear not. Your entire life of training will not go to waste. I will make you into my first bio-engineered creation. You will be a fine work of art. Once I am finished with you I will bestow a new name on you and you will be a great asset to me" she said speaking casually in a sing song voice as she worked.

"Mother?" spoke a male voice as a new figure entered the basement from the stairs. The figure was an elf. His skin was dark but not dark enough for a drow. His face seemed to be showing small signs of decay. His eyes were a menacing green color and his hair was a snowy white color. He was dressed in a mix of leather and metal armor and hand a sword sheathed at his waste. The Vampire and Elf didn't look remotely alike making one question their true relationship.

"I'm sorry mother. I have failed you. I was looking for more subjects for you but Kato interupted me. I tried to capture him but he managed to escape me. I am ready for any punishment you deem worthy" he stated throwing himself at the mercy of the vampiress.

Mercury smiled and casually walked over to Killik. Her eyes gleamed and she smiled warmly as she caressed his cheek, "Everything will be alright my sweet. It will only be a matter of time before your brother ends up on my table. I am already working on a solution" she stated as she began to move away from him.

"Killik my son. I remember when you and your brother fell into my lab so many years ago. You were such a cutie then and you have grown into a wonderful young man that any mother would be proud of. You decided to stay with me because I promised you power. I have granted you the power you desire. When you told me you were the son of a God. I had to find the truth. I still remember how much you hounded me to change you into what I was and despite my best efforts your body cannot receive the change I offered. But remember you do not need to be a vampire to be my son. I love you like my own and never forget that" she said as she turned again and embraced him once again in a gentle hug.

At this time Seth twitched as he began to remember something from his past. He transcended time as he returned to a time long past. The young Hawkman looked different. He was younger and had a clean looking lean build. No scars or stitches and beautiful gleaming red wings. He remembers standing together with eleven other figures whose powers were remarkable.

"I remember what happened before I met them..." Seth said speaking to himself within his own thoughts as he flashed back further into the past.

The sky was clear with the open sun above him smiling down from the sky onto a plateau high up in the mountains. The village was filled with people all of whom had wings on their backs. The village was a tribe of creatures called Hawkmen who lived in the mountains and hardily come down from them. The only ones who were ever seen were young men usually eighteen years old who would come down to enter a rite of passage into manhood. They would have to travel into the forest and slay a bear or coyote and then bring it's carcass back with them to the tribe where they would hold a festival and celebrate. The larger the creature they returned with the better chance they had at choosing a mate. All the boys were treated as soldiers. They were all wild and vicious except for one in particular. The boys name was Seth. That boy was me. Unlike his other more aggressive kin he was docile, shy and kept to himself. He was simply different.

This particular day our instructor Rhyin was teaching us how to use our magic. He riased his hand in the air concentrating electrical magic into a small ball. He then aimed it as a close fit towards a target against the stone and released it. The bolt of lightning shot out looking like an arrow as it struck the target. Our kind in the early stages of life have difficulty in performing this because we possess very limited magic. Seth was different as he proved on his first try he was capable of extraordinary things. He didn't just concentrate the energy but what he shot out from his hand left others with a look of disbelief and fear. As he extended his hand what he shot was not an arrow but a beam of lightning that destroyed the stone.

The instructor and other Hawkmen were stunned by the sudden burst of energy.

"Everyone return to your homes at once" spoke Rhyin. He waited until everyone left before he left and went to the council. The council was made up of senor members of the Ravencross Clan. Rhyin spoke of Seth's unique power and control of lightning despite him being at an age where he shouldn't even be able to manifest the lightning arrow technique that the men of the tribe are able to use to hunt and kill prey. Rhyin described it as capable of not just being able to take out an animal but being able to take out a herd of buffalo in a single strike.

The council spoke back and forth for some time before they came to an agreement that they would like to see the boy perform themselves. In order to prevent suspicion of what may come they decided to make it into a competition that young Seth would be sure to win. The boys were all fifteen now. It was still three years before they were due to go on their journey to manhood. The competition would take place after the next moon.

Time passed quickly as many of the boys were beginning to get the hang of manipulating lightning into an arrow. The other technique passed down was manipulating wind to shoot as a blade.

Rhyin demonstrated this technique as he waved his hands grabbing at the air before lifting his hands up. The air around him seemed to move around him spinning ina circular fashion before stopping at an arms length above him. He waved his hands down forward as 5 blades of wind push forward striking a target.

Once the instructor finished the boys tried their luck, this was an easier challenge for them as they had already practiced lightning. Some were able to get it on the first try but only manifested a single blade. Aim was also going to be a focus in the future.

When it was Seth's turn he manifested enough wind to keep the others grounded. Their dust kicked upwards fromt he sheer force. Instead of the exact motion he merely extended his hand and shot out blast after blast as he tore the target made of wood, straw and leather to pieces utterly destroying the practice target.

Rhyin didn't speak a word. He knew that the issue would be dealt with. He continued his instruction as if nothing was wrong. The other boys looked at Seth with indescribable hatred and jealousy. They didn't like him. He wasn't like them.

The time passed quickly, the night of the full Moon came and Seth's mother and father left to have a meeting with the other adult's of the tribe. The council greeted everyone as they entered the main hut. Seth was the main topic of discussion. They let the floor open for discussion.

Many spoke of the danger that Seth could produce. Others spoke of him as a prodigy that could lead to a new future for their tribe. In the end the council spoke of their idea to have a competition amongst him and those his age to have the rite of passage early for the competition winner. The council had a sinister plan in this that the other tribesmen weren't aware of. Soon everyone returned home and the council were already making arrangements.

The morning sun soon rose in the sky, the sky was blue with a few clouds and some light westerly wind. The boys gathered in a training ground where the villagers gathered to watch them. Each of them performed their villages two techniques. The 'Lightning Arrow' and the 'Wind Shot'. Each of the boys were able to fire off the technique. Some with good aim others with very little aim. They had only been training for a month so their progression was remarkable. Seth however was certainly a spectacle.

The boy walked up with eyes watching him. He lifted his hand to manifest the lightning. Unlike the others his entire arm had lightning encircling it. He shot his blast almost blinding the crowd with it's light as it decimated it's target. Talks began within the crowd but no one cheered for the young boy. Unlike how he was instructed he placed his hands in front of him touching at the wrists with his palms facing the target. Wind magic began to form in a ball in front of his hands and shot out multiple blades slicing the target with multiple blades. Many in the crowd tried to count but they easily lost track. of how many he shot out. It was unlike anything they had ever seen.

The lead council began to clap his hands, a few in the crowd began to do the same until they all began to clap. Seth wasn't really used to this type fo attention and didn't know how to react. He turned to the other boys and they just continued to look at him like he was different. The leader of the council greet Seth and spoke.

"This young lad has shown us that he is truly gifted. He will be granted the right to take the rite of passage early. This young one has truly deserved this great honor. He will leave tomorrow at dawn for his journey and return with a predator from the forests at the foot of the mountains. Once he returns he shall be given the right to take on a mate as per our traditions" he stated.

"No... I don't want to... I don't even want to perform the rite of passage" he retorted.

"All MUST perform the rite of passage. You cannot live here without performing it" the elder responded.

Seth remained quiet as he soon took his leave and returned home with his parents. They both seemed so proud of him when he just didn't want to take part in this ritual. Nightfall came and he decided now was the time for him to leave.

Seth wandered outside unknown to his parents. He avoided the couple of guards that patrol the village at night. He unfurled his wings and then took to flight.

Attempt 2

As hard as I try I just can't get behind this type of beginning... I need to have a proper protagonist... Even a group of Protagonist characters that unite against the forces of the Demon Knights.

On that Note I think that is probably the wise choice. Selecting among 4 great Heroes (or more) and having them fight against the forces of darkness as they begin to rise.

I have selected the following as Candidates:

Stark Ironfang (Rogue/Thief)
Dustin Wing (Cleric/Healer)
Grog Stormshatter (Warrior/Berserker)
Rhox Grimclaw (Warrior/Berserker)
Arcanica Lichborn (Sorceress/Spellcaster)

The evening was beginning to set in as the sun went down. The town filled with candle and lantern light as the inns and taverns began to get rowdy. Music filled the downtown streets as many folks roamed the streets. Children were scarce locked up in their homes and soundly sleeping. Nighttime was not friendly to children. Nor for humans really but some were brave enough to roam this world at night.

A figure entered a tavern known as the 'Worn Ol' Boot' he looked around spying a table in the corner where a wealthy looking human sat down with a contract in front of him. He had posted up during the day that he was seeking some mercenaries for hire. The figure approached the man and sat at the table across from the wealthy man. The two seemed to ignore the music as they began to drink. It didn't take long but three others gathered and began drinking. A short time passed and no others seemed to join the group. The wealthy man opened his pocket watch, checked the time, then clsoed it and returned it to his pocket.

"It is time. You have all read the request I posted. I am willing to pay as much as 500 gold pieces split between the four of you. What I request is some guards to protect me while I return home to the port town of Shadowmoor. There are many folks who desire my head on a pike. Once we arrive back in the protection of my families guards you will be paid for your services" he explained.

"Oh yeah? Well I have a couple fo issues. Firstly. Will we really get paid? Or will you sick your guards on us once you get back home? Secondly. How can I trust the others here? I am a pretty famous figure around here" spoke a young man with brown hair and a pair of sharp looking eyes.

"Oh? I apologize I don't recognize you" replied the wealthy man.

"My name is Stark Ironfang!" he retorted.

"Grog no hear of you" spoke the brutish chatter of the largest man of the group. His face was that of an orc. He was covered in dark green skin and hair. A single tooth protruded from his jaw almost touching his nose.

"Now now... I am certain we can come to some mutual agreement" spoke a blue haired young man with bright blue eyes and angelic features.

The fourth person remained shrouded in a cloak keeping their appearance hidden. But judging from the figure it was a woman.

The bartender approached with another round of drinks. Once he laid the glasses on the table he spoke, "Fine Sir. You certainly have a fine group of mercenaries. I know each of them since they have come to my place of business for years. They each possess unique skills that have given them all reputable names. As long as they can work together I am certain you will be pleased with their work" he stated as he bowed his head and then walked away.

"Chi! Damn that smart a** Burgess. Thinks he can sweet talk me like that" Stark retorted again.

"My name is Dustin, with everyone's permission I will take command and take charge of your safety. We will work together to ensure you arrive at your intended destination. Please return to your room for the time being and we will be ready to depart by morning" he stated.

The wealthy man got up from the table and bowed before retreating upstairs. Once the man had gone Burgess returned tot he table, "You have broad shoulders Dustin. But how do you all expect to get along? I feel as if you are nothing alike" he said.

Dustin smiled brightly and the leaned forward at the table. "Let's all introduce ourselves. Tell me of your abilities and I can assure you we will successfully accomplish our goal" he stated proudly.

"Che!! I'm the Ironfang of the Thieves Guild. My name is Stark. I can crack any safe. Disappare like a ninja at a moment's notice or pilfer a wallet without the patron noticing..." he said as he began to toss a sack of coins up in the air from his hand.

"When did you..." Dustin began to interject.

"That should speak for itself" he replied with a satisfactory smile.

Dustin let out a sigh before turning towards the Orc, "How about you friend?"

"Friend? Grog have friend? Grog like Friends!! You all grog's Friends? Grog Happy!!" he replied.

"Oh gods he's an idiot!" Stark replied looking shocked as he moved slightly away in disgust at the creature.

"No. You not hear. Grog's name is Grog Stormshatter. Grog's name not Idiot. Grog mighty warrior. Grog Smash!!" he said as he took his large maul from his back with a single hand and wielded it expertly before returning it to the holster on his back.

"It's good to meet you Grog. Now I am really interested to see our last companion" Dustin replied.

A pair of dark greyish hands reached for the hood and pulled it down. There was a face dead and grey covered in runes with eyes lit up in a fiendish blue color. Her hair was a mix of black and grey as she began to speak.

"My name is Arcanica Lichborn. I am a Mage..." she said speaking ina husky voice.

"Oh s**t! She's a freakin' undead! We should totally burn that!!" Stark replied in terror.

"Wait!! Wait!!" Dustin replied.

"Yes! I am undead!" Arcanica responded authoritatively. "However, I am not evil. Perhaps it would be best explained. I do not truly know how I was born. But I walk amongst the living with my own free will and thoughts. I sense a great deal of mystery amongst us. Stark though he seems untrustworthy seems to carry a burden. Grog carries with him a legacy passed down. And you Dustin. I cannot put my finger on it. But you are different. I sense you have no memory of your childhood" she stated.

"You are certainly wise and knowledgeable. You are correct. I have no memory beyond that of about two years ago. But that doesn't matter. We each have our own unique abilities and skills. I would like to formally group together with each of you for this upcoming mission. We will protect this merchant with our lives and collect his reward" spoke Dustin as he began to chant a rallying cry.

"YES!!!" they all replied in unison.

Arcanica pulled her hood over herself again hiding the fact she was an undead creature. The others kept their shawls off. Burgess gave them a room to spend the night in to rest for the time being. It would be awhile before they would sleep indoors again.

The sun dawned over the horizon. Dustin was the first to awaken alerting the tohers that it was time to take their leave. They went downstairs where Burgess was preparing breakfast for their wealthy consort. Each sat down to have something to eat. All except for the Mage.

"Sir. If I may ask, are you expecting anyone in particular to attack you on the road?" Dustin asked.

"I have many enemies, rival competitors, bandits, and the like. My life could be in danger from any of these. It will be your responsibility to take care of any issues. My caravan has two carriages pulled by horse and two other horses. My carriage is centered in the middle while my merchandise is kept in the last one" he replied.

"What merchandise are your transporting" Dustin inquired.

"Now that is none of your concern. Just consider them my trophies" he retorted.

"Very well. I would like to request that myself and Stark take individual horses each while Grog stays on your merchandise cart. Arcanica will stay on your cart. It ensures at least one of us are close by at all times to keep you well guarded" Dustin proposed.

"Very well. See that it is done then. We will be setting out shortly" the merchant responded. He quickly finished his breakfast then began to see to the final preparations.

A little time passed as the Caravan set out. Two horses followed by two carriages. Just as Dustin had said. Himself and Stark led the caravan. Arcanica was on the wealthy merchant's carriage next to the driver while Grog sat next to the driver on the carriage with the merchandise.

The voyage began, by carriage it was a 14 hour journey. They should arrive at Shadowmoor by sunset. Trotting and the sound of wood grinding against the dirt roads as they traveled. It was a long stretch through mostly forest terrain.

Nearly 10 hours on the road Stark raised his hand to halt the caravan.

"What is it?" spoke Dustin.

"If there is one thing I am good at. It's spotting a trap. Look ahead in the tree. It's hard to notice unless you're looking for it" he stated.

Dustin stared at the tree noticing some rope hidden in the leaves of the tree. It was true. He would not have noticed it if not pointed out by Stark's keen observational skills. Stark and Dustin got off their horses and approached the nearby tree. Taking a hook with a rope Stark hooked the line in the tree and tugged on it. A large log barreled down from the tree. Had the caravan been in the way it would've surely destroyed the carriage with the merchant in it.

The bushes began to rustle as several figures emerged with crude looking axes and swords.

Arcanica stood up, her face still shrouded by her cloak. Grog stood up at the same time, "Time for smash?" he said expectantly.

Stark quickly took two rings from his pouch and placed them each on his middle finger with the gem on them pointed inward next to his palm. He then grabbed the hilt of the dagger resting at his side. "Let's take them out!" he shouted as he vanished in a subtle cloud of smoke. Dustin carried to weapon as he backed up closer to the caravan with his fists at the ready, "Protect the Caravan. Grog. Smash to your heart's content" spoke Dustin as he let a smirk crack through his facial expression.

Immediately Grog lept from the caravan swarming into the middle of three warriors. One wielding an axe. The other two wielding swords. Grog withdrew his axe and swung it horizontally swiping through each and every target taking them each out with a single blow.

Another swordsman and Axebearer looked as three of their comrade's were sent flying. There attention was caught as Arcanica spoke, "Oh Boys. Don't forget about me" she said. The two thugs turned back their attention only to see fire. From her palms she cast a fire spell shooting out a devastating fireball that exploded on top of the two thugs sending them rocketing back in the forest.

Dustin watched as 3 thugs approached him from the front and sides. Suddenly the one on his right rolled his eyes upward as he dropped to the ground with a dagger wound in his back. Stark was stood up behind him with fresh blood on his blade. "Always watch your back" he stated.

Taking the opportunity Dustin moved in swiftly punching one of the thugs in the stomach sending with his attack a wave of magical energy in his thrust taking the wind from him. His body turned as he extended his arm striking the last thug in the side of his head with the back of Dustin's hand.

In only a few quick motions did the team dispatch the opposing threat. Unaware there was one more hiding near the trap.

"I sense magic nearby!" Arcanica warned.

"Too late!!" shouted a voice from the front of the caravan. A beam of light shot towards the caravan. Dustin looked ready to taking the attack and protect the caravan when Stark suddenly stepped in front of him holding out his left hand. The blinding light from the attack left little to be seen. Dustin shielded his eyes with his hands unable to see. When the light cleared Stark remained firm in his stance.

"Not bad. But you can have it back" he said as he opened up his right hand and thrust his palm forward firing a similar blast forward. The shot blew away several trees not to mention the caster of the spell. A loud explosion echoed in the forest as the smoke cleared.

Dustin saw the way was clear but was now curious, "Stark? What did you do?"

"I am sly and cunning, never underestimate what I can do in battle" he replied.

Leaving the mysterious event for the time being Dustin was relieved that their employer was alright and they began to continue unabated.

Meanwhile watching from afar was a figure hiding int he deep shadow of the trees, "Did you see that brother? My newest playthings" spoke the voice.

"You pit them against petty humans. That is not a worthwhile test" spoke a second mysterious voice.

"True true. I think they each have a great deal of hidden potential in them. I'll summon Menji against them. They will either prove themselves worthy of my hunt or be destroyed" spoke the first voice again before vanishing completely.

Just as nightfall descended upon the land they arrived in Shadowmoor. The large city was right on the coast with lanterns filling the downtown streets filled with taverns and pubs. Even at night the streets looked lively. The Merchant exited his Carriage and bestowed upon Dustin a bag of gold and a sincere thank you and hand shake.

"If I ever need you again. What should I call your band?" spoke the merchant.

"We are not a band to be named. We are simply friends working together for a common goal" spoke Justin.

"Yeah.... Like getting paid" stated Stark blatantly.

The group gathered at a local tavern where they distributed the reward money as well as gathered themselves a few refreshments.

"This port city may provide us with some pretty decent jobs. I enjoy working with each of you and I was hoping we could form ourselves an alliance of sorts. With our combined talents I am certain we can acquire a great deal of money fairly quickly" Dustin mentioned.

"Why are you concerned with money? You seem like a goodie goodie to me. The type that would give everything to charity" Stark implied.

"Grog smash? Grog like to smash. Grog like friends" spoke the simple minded Orc.

"If you look at our abilities we are a well formed group. But the more famous a group is the greater their risk. Basically what I am saying is that we will be in constant need of upgraded gear. Since we are in Shadowmoor we should go see a friend of mine. He owns a shop here and he sells practically anything. Weapons, Armor, Surplus supplies, even information" spoke Arcanica.

"Then perhaps we should pay him a visit in the morning then begin to try and gather up some work" Dustin added.

"I'll get us some rooms for the evening then" stark mentioned with a sly smirk as he got up from the table.

Dustin was wary of Stark's thieving habits. But he could tolerate it as long as no one got hurt. After a few moments Dustin stared at Stark as he returned with w wide grin on his face, "Who this time?" he asked.

"How rude. Must you always assume I steal things?" he retorted.

Dustin continued to stare at Stark.

"Oh fine! yes. I was stealing again. Only a few patrons while I was getting a couple of room keys. And no I didn't steal the room keys I paid for them... With the money I got from the patrons and hey look! I still have a sac of gold to spare" Stark chuckled.

"Let's get some sleep then. we got a busy day ahead of us" Dustin said as he went to one of the rooms upstairs followed shortly by the others.

The next morning the group got up and went downstairs. There seemed to be a little commotion in the corner of the room. A panicked old woman began to frantically bark at the patrons of the tavern.

"Please you must listen to me. There is danger coming for us. I see falling rocks of fire descending from the sky decimating the land. The work of..."

"Alright that's enough out of you hag!" spoke a large man as she picked up the woman by her collar and threw her out of the tavern.

Dustin looked concerned and moved to aid the woman when Arcanica stuck out her arm, "Do not interfere with every problem you see. I know it isn't right but look carefully. There are several men there. If you anger them you won't walk away with anything less than a few broken bones" she said.

"Y... You're right. Let's proceed on shall we?" he said not liking the idea and getting an odd feeling over the woman and her warning.

The group traveled through the town passing by a man in white from the church, "Please good travelers. Our church is in search of brothers and sisters to help battle against a horrid Orc invasion from the north. Brother Gavin will be speaking in the church at noon. All are welcome to attend and hear the mighty words of our Goddess Elandra."

The group seemed to ignore this man for the time being but Dustin was very interested in finding out what was going on. Arcanica seemed interested as well as she stopped and paused for a moment before proceeding. Soon the came down near the waterfront. Arcanica was now leading them down a shady alleyway. Suddenly a door exploded in flames sending two large fellows tumbling to the ground. Their clothes were charred and burned. Their weapons were partially melted and they looked like they went ten rounds with a bear.

"And stay out you no good bums!!" spoke a voice from inside the building.

"He is in a good mood I see" Arcanica mentioned.

The group entered as they say a young man with brown hair and shiny blue eyes. He was wearing mostly red clothing. A fine suit and robe with flame patterns over it. "Can I help you?" he said speaking almost sarcastically.

"Are you with them?" he added while pointing towards the two men he had thrown out.

"No Xenon. We aren't with them. We were just looking to see what you had available" Arcanica said as she lowered her hood.

"Ah Arcanica, nothing like a stroll down memory lane. How long has it been thirty years?" he asked.

"Thirty years? Impossible this guy doesn't even look two decades old" Stark butted in.

"Grog head hurt too" spoke the Orc.

"Come to think of it. We don't really know much about one another. How old are you Arcanica?" Dustin asked curiously.

"It is hard to tell with what I am. But I am ninety-seven years old. Believe it or not Xenon is more than three times my age" she mentioned with a laugh.

"Then what the hell are you then?" Stark butted in again.

"You have rude friends my dear friend" he said with a snarly tone. After a moment he smiled and spoke with a bubbly tone, "allow me to introduce myself. My name is Xenon. I am a Fire elemental. I take on the form of a human to mingle with commoners like yourself. Myself and my brethren like me all set up shops throughout the land. Our skills in crafting goods and enchanting weapons and armor make our services invaluable to armies, mercenaries and adventurers alike."

"Forgive Stark. My name is Dustin. I was wondering..." he said as he paused to look at the price tags of most of the weapons and armor available int he shop. The least expensive thing in here was more than three-thousand gold "...if you could cut us a deal on buying goods from you. Right now looking around we can't afford anything you have here in terms of weapons or armor. But I have a list of some small things we need to restock on and would you happen to know where we can go to stock up ourselves on some much needed money?" he asked trying to be polite despite his brief pause to look around.

"As long as the money you earn is coming to my store then I think we can work something out" Xenon said as he took the list from Dustin and examined it. "Hmm... Not a great deal here. I will stock you up personally and I will cut you guys some slack on my prices. But you must shop only from me. My brothers and sisters are complete rip-offs. I also know of a good way to ear some cash actually" he began to explain.

Xenon quickly loaded up Grog's large backpack with the supplies on the list and then began to speak again, "Alright. So here is what is going around town. Orcs are all over the place in our forests lately. Not unlike your friend. But these ones are lowly savages. They have appeared in large numbers raiding Shadowmoor a couple of times and destroying farmlands nearby. Bounties have been placed on all the generals. Rumor is that they only began moving this way after a new leader joined their ranks. Supposedly he isn't even an Orc but some kind of horrid monster... I can't confirm anything but I believe the local guard here are offering money for Orc heads and especially the generals heads. If you can bag the leader you will have plenty of money for awhile I am sure" he said with a smile on his face. His eyes didn't even really look like eyes. More like gold coins as he began to think of his profit margin.

"Thanks Xenon that's what we were looking for" Arcanica said as she pulled her hood up and nodded at Dustin.

"Alright looks like we are headed north!!" Dustin shouted with glee.

Now that the group was ready they immediately began to head north. They passed by several other groups of adventurers that seemed to be interested in the prospects of killing orcs and bringing back their heads for money. Soon after they cleared the city they arrived onto the northern farmlands. The farmlands were very desolate and looked completely void of resources and food.

Arcanica and Stark moved forward to investigate.

"The ground is unhallowed. Something evil has embarked upon these lands..." Arcanica mentioned.

"There was a large group of them. A small army maybe twenty of them" spoke Stark. He assessed the ground, "It is obvious that they came from the forest but they met with resistance. There is blood on the ground. The blood is orc blood. They were attacked by a small party but their foot steps end here. They were likely defeated and carried off" he mentioned.

Dustin stepped forward, "The farmland is decimated. Lets check with the farm house. We can check for survivors among the farmers" he said as the group then headed for the farmhouse.

Dustin approached the front door and knocked, "Hello anybody home?" he asked. He then signaled Stark to check around the building. Stark then ran around to check the other doors and windows for forced entry while Dustin continued to call out. Stark returned after a few moments and shook his head affirming the negative on another forced entry.

"Step aside church boy. I'll get us in" he said as he got in front of the door pushing Dustin back and took out a couple of lock picks. He fiddled with his tools in the lock until a clicking sound could be head and the door slowly swung open. The group went inside and spread out, Arcanica went into the kitchen finding two large rats which she quickly dispatched with a blast of searing fire.

"Grog Find something!" yelled the brute of the group.

Dustin was the first to get to him. He was in the living room and looked down to see three bodies. Two adults and one child. The child looked like he was chewed up and mauled. While the two adults looked to have been killed by axes.

"I just killed some rats in the kitchen" Arcanica mentioned as she arrived on scene followed by Stark.

"It's likely that they were killed by the Orcs. The child seemed to have escaped the Orcs by hiding some place. She likely came out of the hiding place and locked the doors after the Orcs invaded. Rats managed to get in at some point and they killed the child who huddled near the bodies of her dead parents" he explained.

"So where does that leave us?" Stark asked.

"The Orcs invaded this area in search of resources. Specifically food. They completely decimated it of food so we can assume they have a large army that they need to feed and that the army is on the move. The possibility of the Orcs attacking the city is extremely high. In tactics of war it is wise to lay siege to the oppositions food resources. They have done that and are taking it for themselves most likely. Their army is bigger than we think it is and remember Xenon mentioned a new leader int heir ranks? This person is probably a Demon or Apparition. Thus why Arcanica could find traces of corruption on the ground" he explained.

"I'm not liking this so far... but go on" Stark added.

"So the plan is to track the Orcs down. We are certain to find their main encampment. Once we find them our objective will be to eliminate them. We will assess their numbers and figure out the best plan of action in order tot ake them out" he stated.

"Grog smash?" Grog asked.

"Yes, Grog can smash" Dustin added.

"I think we are capable of this. We will have to be careful but I think we can handle it" Arcanica said speaking up in a raspy voice.

Now that it was decided the group gathered outside of the farm house and proceeded into the forest. Once int he forest Stark was able to pick up the trail and began to lead the group through the forest. It only took a few hours before they located the Orc encampment.

The Orc encampment had dozens of Orc creatures. They seemed to be cutting down trees and building siege weapons. It looked as though they were planning a alrge scale assault. Other than the Orcs who were working or on guard duty there were two Orcs in particular who seemed to be high up in the center of the camp observing. Their armor and garment suggested that they were leaders or Generals.

"Ominath and Razorback. They are two very well reowned Orc Generals" Dustin mentioned as he looked at the two Orcs with their large Axes laid next to the stone thrones they were seated at. There was one thing more disturbing as they observed a 3rd empty seat between them. When comparing size it looked like the owner of the chair had to be at least 4 times larger than the Orc Generals themselves though they seen no creature who could fit in the chair or looked like they owned it.
