The group had found a cave to stay in for the night, taking it in turns to keep watch for more dragons or anything else that might be following them. As predicted Azriel and Talia caught them up that evening, having followed their footprints in the snow that lay in the valley.
Isambard woke early, he stood, brushed himself off and walked over to the mouth of the cave where Cyrus sat by the embers of the dying fire. "How are you holding up?" He asked tugging the coat he had brought with him around him. It was icy cold out there, fresh snow had fallen over night covering their footsteps from the previous day. Isambard pulled the scribbled map out of his pocket and looked it over.

Cyrus looked up at his lord and rubbed his large hands together slowly. Despite the warm clothes he was wearing and his proximity to the dying fire, he could feel the cold seeping in. He really hated the cold, he thought as he breathed it in. "As to be expected," he replied in a rather clipped tone. How did he think he was holding up in this godforsaken place? Though he knew better than to say such thoughts aloud to Isambard. Besides, he knew he was just cranky because he was uncomfortable. "Did you sleep well?" he asked in slightly more friendly tone.

Isambard looked up as Cyrus snapped at him and raised an eyebrow. He would have said something to put the djinn in his place but noted the big man changed his demeanor. "Well enough." he replied, looking to the mountains in front of them. "The village is just over that peak there." He pointed to the higher of the peaks in the range. "There should be a pass, fairly wide, she said it used to take carts. That is where the blockage is."

Cyrus looked out as Isambard spoke and he scanned the mountain peaks until he located the one they were headed towards. Breathing in the cold air again, he let it out slowly and looked back to his lord. He really hoped this venture would be worth putting up with this. He could be wrapped up in Elora and her bed instead of freezing his backside off. "And assuming we are able to get through the blockage, what happens if we have come all this way and it is too late?"

Isambard gave a shrug. "Then we are too late, though I don't think it will be a complete loss. If there is wealth in those mountains someone would be willing to find it." Some might think that ruthless of him but he was merely being practical. Mortals were mortal, they died, more were born, life went on.

Cyrus smirked slightly and nodded a little as he looked back out at the mountains. "Did the girl ever tell you what it was her people worked with?" he asked out of curiosity. There was no doubt in his mind that it would be valuable, especially to their needs. Most things that came from beneath the ground were useful and therefore valuable, especially for Industry.

"No, not exactly. She was half out of it. I'm hoping that it was coal or metal ore something we can make use of. Though even if it is something like gemtones they would still be useful for trade." He looked back to their other companions who were sleeping in the cave. "I think it's time to get everyone up, fed and back on the road. We'll deal with this rock fall when we get to it. Do you think you'll be able to move it? even in the cold."

Cyrus glanced to Industry and lifted his brow. "I am not a weakling. The cold does not affect my abilities, just my mood," he smirked and rose to his feet.
"Everybody up!" he exclaimed and clapped his hands loudly. As a few of the others began to stir, he turned his attention towards the fire and bringing it back to life so they could eat and drink something warm.

Isambard laughed at Cyrus' backchat. He had forgotten how gouchy he could be.
They ate and drank, filling up for the journey ahead. The sky was a bright blue, though the air was biting and cold as they stepped outside the relative warmth of the cave. Isambard could not recall snow, though he knew he must have been through it before. It was cold, damp, and quite unpleasant once the initial joy of being the first to plant their feet in it had passed.
They moved down through the valley, following what had once been a well worn track, wide enough for heavy loads to be transported. From the valley they moved upwards the path snaked backwards and forwards up the mountain the climb was not too steep as it was designed for transportation. They paused a few times to rest and then made the final climb to the top where there was a tunnel, as the girl had described it was impassable, covered with rubble and rocks.
Isambard halted the group at the mouth of the tunnel and looked back to Azriel. "Will your men be able to clear the smaller bits?"

Azriel studied the rockfall with a critical eye and then turned his attention to the god beside him. "Of course my lord. I think we have the tools to take care of most of this. I am concerned about the top though. There is a worrying crack up there," he said as he looked back and pointed to his concern. "If that gives, we could bring down more of the mountain on top of us."

Isambard looked up to the crack that his attention had been drawn to and studied it critically. "Do you think there is a way we can secure it?" He asked looking to both Cyrus and Azriel for ideas.

Azriel studied it for a long moment his hand going to his chin as he thought. "If we had timbers, that would be ideal. But we don't have time to go back down and make some. Perhaps if Cyrus takes care of that bit, I imagine we could handle the rest. It would take a little longer, but we could get it done," he suggested with a smile and glance towards the large djinn.

Isambard nodded in agreement. "Is that possible Cyrus?" He asked, looking to the djinn, he did not want him to exhaust himself, though likely he would do anything to show he could. Djinn were hideously proud and that could on occasion be an advantage.

Cyrus breathed in the cold air deeply and looked to the pair looking up at him. "Of course it is possible my lord," he said with a small inclination of his head. "It might not last after we pass through, but I suppose we can cross that bridge when we come to it," he smirked lightly.
Az gave a bit of a laugh and nodded. "That's the spirit Cy," he teased and looked back to Isambard. "I will organize the men. As soon as we're ready, I'll give you the word Cyrus."
"Yes," Cyrus nodded and looked back up to the mountain. He had never held one up before, but he was certain he could do it.

"Well then, let us get it done." He said clapping his hands together. "Talia, you can help me clear some of the smaller bits." He said, addressing the doctor and moving to the right side of the tunnel so that they could begin.
Talia nodded and followed the god. She was no stranger to hard work and not afraid to get her hands dirty.
