The initials on the map were two that Gale was highly suspicious of.
That, combined with a room number he knew all too well, meant that there was only one logical conclusion of who exactly the map belonged to; not that Gale was really accepting this fact, in fact he was vehemently attempting to deny this because denying it was easier than facing what he was about to do.
He needed backup.Bittiface Text to ???Meet me outside of Caelius' office in ten minutes. Unfortunately for Gale, he hadn't paid too much attention to whom exactly he was texting.
(Spoiler: It wasn't Bix, like he'd thought.)

Ew. Why was Gale texting him? It could be one of two things. 1) Otto missed a chore on their list, and Gale was gunna b***h about it. 2) Mission. Otto groaned and headed out. Once outside the office he waited with arms crossed. This day was going to suck even worse than most of his days did!

Gale's extremely eloquent and lovely reaction to seeing Otto was as follows:
"The bloody hell are YOU doing here?"

Otto's lip curled at Gale's greeting, looking at him as if his very presence repulsed him. Oh wait, it did. "Uh, you texted me, you ********' loser."

Gale stared at him.
"I did not," he said, sounding outraged at the very idea. He pulled out his phone and began to scroll down his messages. "I texted B...oh."
<< Nice going. >> Jinhai laughed, and Gale just heaved an enormous sigh. It wasn't like he could just turn Otto away (even though he wanted to), and besides, they were both here and in the same division, so...
So...
"Well, whatever," Gale muttered. "You'll do, I suppose. I've got something I found, and I'm pretty sure it belongs to a certain someone, so you get to help me with returning it."
Then he knocked on the door and stepped on Otto's foot simultaneously to keep him from escaping.

The sassiest look award went to Otto that night. "Didn't text me huh? Way to use a phone, idiot. Who are you? Caelius?""OW! Sunnuva---" Otto punched Gale in the arm for stepping on his foot.

The door opened, the Death lead staring (down) at the two of them. He had probably just finished a meeting, as the door remained opened most days, and absolutely missing on Allan Visit days. There was however, nobody else inside the office.

Gale managed to rearrange his face into an acceptably blank one and not the disgusted glower directed towards Otto just in time. The fact that Caelius had opened the door himself was just a tad disconcerting, but Gale squared his shoulders and took a small breath.
"During routine investigation of the beach, sir," he said, "I found something, ah...curious."
Not the greatest word but it would have to do. Gale reached into his pocket and pulled out the map, holding it out towards Caelius.
"I thought it might be of use to you, sir."

Otto straightened up as Gale did, although he was nowhere near as upstanding looking. While Gale explained himself, Otto fidgeted with his clothes, picking a lint ball off of a sleeve and straightening out his jacket.

And here the Death lead thought they had just finished their daily tasks a little earlier than usual. As the hallway outside didn't quite look immaculate or spotless, and the doorknob not quite polished, he postponed actually looking at what Gale brought in in favour of judging the two and standing really straight to reaffirm how much taller he was.
After a few seconds of this and some really awkward silence, the Death lead finally looked at the map. More awkward silence, and then he neatly folded the map into halves, then another half, then a half again off the side-
- And tore it into tiny little pieces, scattering them on the ground. He wasn't doing cleaning, so clearly, it was no longer his problem.
"As you two clearly have nothing better to do," other than floor polishing, seemed to go the unfinished part of the sentence, "you can consider yourselves volunteered for this mission. I expect to see you in the lighthouse portal in five minutes."
He stood there. This happened for a few more seconds.
"In five minutes." he repeated, very slowly.

The silence was deafening. Gale stood there with one elbow still poking into Otto's side and hastily straightened it, pushing his shoulders back to look as though he hadn't been doing exactly what it looked like he was doing - which was very definitely not squabbling with Otto.
The pieces of the map fluttered to the ground like flakes of snow, Gale's eyes following their path with a mixture of confusion and suspicion. He didn't dare look at Otto, and instead pressed his lips together, his teeth grinding as he leveled a look at Caelius.
<< Move. >> said Jinhai mildly.
"Yes," said Gale, one hand curling around Otto's upper arm, "Sir."
Then he proceeded to physically drag Otto down the hall in a hasty attempt at getting their crap together in the next four minutes.

Otto had no idea what was going on. But it seemed like it was Gale's fault Otto wouldn't be snacking on a stale chocolate bar while laying in bed half naked. Thanks for that, Gale.d**k.They now had to somehow make it to the lighthouse for a mission they had no way of preparing for. Otto was begrudgingly dragged along by his arm, never ceasing glaring at gale and judging him harshly. "I hate you so much."

The Death lead was waiting at the Lighthouse portal looking extremely not impressed as per usual. There was also a very high chance this wasn't him, as there was no explanation whatsover as to how he left after them and arrived before. Maybe it was a clone. Or a golem, which was less exciting than a clone and also possibly less dangerous.
"Leave your coats here. Do not ******** say a single ******** word keep answers to a yes or no, and that includes to each other. Any information directly tied to Deus will jeopardize this entire mission and you will be held accountable post mission."
Ah, it was one of those kind of missions. The Death lead walked through the portal and did not wait for the other two to follow.
*
They arrived on the outskirts of a run-down town. Not the type run down by Halloween creatures or anything of the post-apocalyptic variety; it seemed most of the town had let nature seize every and all opportunity, half the houses abandoned, the others decaying. There read a sign above them, a town name at one point that was long rusted, eaten and unreadable. In front of them was a nearly over-turned path, and as they continued to walk, they could feel it.
There were still people in this town, just people, and they were watching the three very carefully, but especially Gale and Otto. They hid behind boarded up windows with walls already crumbling and twisted excuses for trees. They felt hostile.
There was a large building in the very center of the old town. It was quite impressive, three floors, barely decaying and every single inch and perimeter around it was covered in very tall barbed wire. Two figures in plain grey clothing guarded the entrance, though they seemed pretty young themselves. They took one look at Otto and Gale, again ignoring the Death lead in favour of the two, and then opened the gates.
The walk inside was uneventful, the place looked like a prison, and yet the only figures that peered from the inside were-
- The doors swung open and Caelius walked over to reception. A lady slowly typing into her keyboard looked up at the three. "Yes?"
"I have an appointment to register these two." It was pretty obvious to who the Death lead was referring to as these two.
The reception lady paused. And then eyed them. She pulled open a new form on the computer anyway, double clicking. "What is your relationship to them?"
"Parent," he replied flatly, as if this was something normal. A pause. "They are adopted."
"Now, Mr..." she hesitated-
- "Summers."
- "Summers," there was some quick typing, "I see your registration here, but you will have to still fill out this consensus form. All patients admitted here have a special kind of illness. We also need proof of their psychological decay before we can start the approval process."
The Death lead pulled out a folder. "This is the state of their room currently. They admit they see shadows. They continuously write a fictional girl's name on the wall in blood." Actually, that sounded sort of familiar, kind of like-
- "That's terrible," said the lady, looking everywhere but at the photo. She stared at Gale and Otto in a mixture of horror and disgust - "You two should be ashamed of yourselves. It's no wonder your father looks so- so tired!"
Actually Caelius looked pretty normal and intimidating. There was also possibly a good chance she was just feeling sorry for him because he had pretty good general presentation. He had filled out the form while they were talking and handed it over to her, the receptionist paused, and then grabbed the form, making sure to give him an extra long sympathetic smile. He ignored it.
A minute later, the buzzer rang, and two fully armed guards appeared from the doors behind reception. Each one accosted Otto and Gale, and dragged them down the hallway, one on each arm. The Death lead just stood there and watched them get dragged away before the doors closed.
They continued to walk a little further, down extremely bright, well-lit hallways entirely abandoned until they arrived at an elevator. A single button was pressed, and the elevator seemed to move down forever -
- Until the doors finally parted open. It was another very well-lit hallway and on both sides were doors, a little reminiscent of the setup of the Life Labs when explosions were not going on. They turned to the first door on the left, and inside was a desk and two chairs. There was a plague on the table with a logo. It read Peter Pan.
"Have a seat," gestured one of the security guards, who was also wearing a very bland grey uniform, "the doctor will be with you soon." They gestured towards the white gown folded on top of each chair. "You will need to change your clothing to the gown for your physical. Put your old clothing under the chair. " The door clicked closed behind them and left them a small window of time to catch their breath. Everything seemed surreal, the realistic oddly even more agitating than the consistent supernatural they were used to.
