The sun glittered off the ocean waves, slightly blinding the mare. Salt filled the air as the wind wiped through her long hair. Carefully she walked upon the beach, the wet sand hard beneath her hooves. Her pace slowed when she reached a tide pool, sitting upon the rocks was an oyster. She had heard stories of pearls that were housed inside these tiny creatures. Her father loved to tell the one where the pearl was cursed and caused nothing but pain and horror to the soquili who found it. Would this oyster hold the world pearl that possess the power to curse those who takes it from its home? Carefully she bent her head down into the salty waters to pick up the creature. She did not want to hurt it by opening it by force with her teeth. She set it down on a rock outside of the water. “Please Mr. Oyster, bestow upon me your wonderful pearl and no harm will come to you. You then will be able to make a better, more marvelous pearl that would make all the other oysters jealous.” She was not sure if the creature understood her and had begun to feel quite silly when it opened up its shell to reveal a lovely white pearl. Cautiously the mare scooped it up in the shell she wore around her neck. Aderyn bowed to the oyster, “Thank you so much for your gift, I will treasure it always.” Carefully she lifted the oyster and placed it back into the tide pool.

The smell of the salt as it rolled in from the sea as the wind scattered the foam around the fetlocks of the large stallion before a small grin started to appear on his muzzle. There was nothing better than taking a stroll along the edge of the coast, snacking on the fleeting crustacean and of course noticing a new unsuspecting mark that with observation had found something rather worthwhile. Curling his tail and uncurling he looked at her carefully from a distance, true he was still rather young and well being a pirate wasn’t exactly a born skill. There was always the needed time, practice, patience and you were always extremely lucky in any endeavor you did. Without luck you were likely cursed and always always made a horrible captain because who in their right mind followed a cursed captain. Taking in a deep breath of air and puffing his chest out he decided now was better than never to introduce himself to her and at least get a start of a conversation going. Then when she was far too busy in chattering he would use his tail to snag the pearl and disappear before she knew it. Kraken had to admit it was a perfect plan he thought as he started to trot towards her. “Hey! ‘Ello poppet.”

The sand muffled his hoof steps to barely make a sound, at the sound of his voice she gave a slight start, startled that the stallion had been able to walk up so close to her without her hearing. She did not know how long he had been on the beach watching her, since her attention had been consumed by the oyster and the lovely pearl that it had gifted her. Aderyn turned her pale blue gaze to the stallion; everything about him seemed to scream danger or bad boy. To her, he seemed to hold himself with a cocky attitude and there was something mischievous about him. “Hello, you startled me.” She smiled at the stallion, he reminded her of some of the characters in the stories that she had grown up with. The ones filled with adventure and amazing feats of heroism.

She was interesting to say the least, obviously a sea loving lass despite the lack of any sort of aquatic characteristics like he. There was a beautiful seashell hanging from her mane and the sweet scent of flowers wafted in the air that rested in her tail. Sadly the shell nor the flowers were of any worth despite something to look at, instead his interest was what was tucked away in the shell. A pearl. Still grinning he nodded to the mare “I be sorry me lady, I didn’t mean to startle ye? I was just curious to what a beautiful lady like ye was doin’ all th’ way out here? ‘N alone? Tsk tsk” He replied as he slowly walked around her, he wondered if it would be easier to just take the necklace off or just simply remove the outer shell. “Whar ye just out on a swim on such a nice day?”

Her ears perked at his accent, it was quite curious, but there was also something familiar about it. She tried to wrack her brain but nothing was coming up. She continued to watch the stallion as he got closer to her and he began to walk around her… was he sizing her up? A slight frown appeared on her countenance; she shook off the feeling and concentrated on the dashing stallion before her, “I am taking a stroll along the beach,” A wicked mischievous gleam came to her eyes, “Alone yes, but I know how to take care of myself.”
She shook her head and kept her eye on the strange talking stallion, “No, I would love to swim, but alas I am not blessed like my sister who has fins. I am land locked sadly.” A slight pause, as she tried to figure out the stallion, “were you fancying a swim?”

He watched as a frown started to form on her muzzle as if he was someone to be rather distrusted after sizing her up. Well it was true she was likely never going to be able to trust him, and well he had to make sure that her only valuable was the necklace and that there wouldn’t be any little surprises. Like some sort of strange neck monster growing in her neck, or something prickly like an urchin that had called her mane home.
A little shiver ran down his back as he thought of the last time his large hoof was burden with such troublesome little creatures. They were more of abomination than crabs with claws looking to steal a meal.
Grinning he nodded with a chuckle, “I will have t' take your word on bein' able t' handle yourself poppet.” As she mentioned the rather predicament of being land lock he gave a frown before winking in her direction.
“Well dn't worry I may look like a swimmer but even me own mother had no fins and can't swim in t' sea. But no worries even land lock lassies can at least trod t' waves.” He replied as he started a slow walk to the foaming waves.
“If t' lady would permit me t' join her that is.”

She was not a mere damsel in distress, all those years listening to her father’s story, she never imagined that she was the mare that was weak and constantly needed to be saved by the dashing stallion. No she saw herself as the hero, the one who did the rescuing. When she said she knew how to take care of herself she was not just saying that to ward off any ill intentions that the stallion may have toward her. She had trained under knights and assassins to learn a few basic self-defense maneuvers, in order to be the hero of her own story she had to walk the walk and talk the talk. Aderyn just smiled at the stallion’s words and her smiled quirked with the use of poppet.
Her gaze went to the water loving stallion, his mother was landlocked as well, perhaps he was blessed by the tiki spirits just like her family was, “That is quite curious. The same can be said for my family. Both parents are landlocked and yet my sister is able to swim in the deep depths of the sea.” She turned her head to the side, not really sure what to make of this new found information. Her eyes left the stallion and were cast out to the sea. It was a lovely sight, the scene before her calmed the mare and she felt herself slowly dropping her guard. Not wanting to tear her gaze away from the ocean, she nodded her head to the stallion. “Frolicking in the waves sounds fun, but why do you care if I go into the sea or not?”

He watched with curiosity, as her smile seemed to almost twitch at the name poppet and chuckled to himself. She was definitely like his mother rather defiant of any regular nature of the world and a force to be reckoned with when anyone dared to threaten her family. She had her quirks like any other mare, but she was most certainly like the sea beautiful and fierce all at once. Most certainly a mare to just steal from and never find again, likely hood if they ever did meet again he would end up with some sort of injury from her temper and having to apologize far too much than he was willing to.
His eyebrow perked as he mentioned both her parents were landlocked as well but the sister being able to swim into the depths. “Me sister be t' same, but she has a twisted mouth where as I can swim, it be a gift from t' twisted tunnels from t' grogs above.”
As she asked him why he cared if she went into the sea or not he gave her a puzzled look, “I care not if you wish t' go into t' sea however t' sea be a fickle creature and those who can't swim below t' depths become souls to Davey Jones. Its best t' alway treat her with care and not as just a pretty thin'.”

Ah, so he was not Tiki blessed, but blessed by the Spirits of All Hallows. It was a curious thing, and she was slightly jealous. When she was little she wished for fins or wings, but she had grown to accept that she was land locked and the only way she will be with the birds is with her name. “Davey Jones? Who is he?” Aderyn loved stories, and there were many that she did not know, especially if they pertained to the sea. “I know the ocean is not just a pretty thing. I have seen it rage during the stormy season and that was a frightening sight.” It had taken her awhile to get used to his accent, now she understood him clearly. There was something about him that made her wary, but she liked talking to him, he was different than any other stallion she had met before. There was an air of danger and adventure about him. And those who had that air, usually had interesting tales to tell.

hanging gallow AIM POST Kraken raised a brow as the mare asked about Davey Jones, it was rare for anyone who loved da sea not to know who Davey Jones was. “Davey Jones be an ole legend o' t' sea, a soquili who thought he could best t' waters on one dark storme nigh. In’std he was dragged down below t' crashin' waves t' t' depths o' t' bottom t' haunt ever’ore. They say when t' waters be rough he appears searchin' for souls t' drag below t' cause them t' share t' same fate he did. Others say he was once a famous pirate captain who was cursed t' ferry lost souls in t' sea t' their purgatory, however either way he be t' keeper o' drowned souls and t' last soquili anyone like you would want t' meet.” Giving her a grin he nodded, “tis what they all be saying till they get t' high and mighty and try t' best t' sea and go losin' their life.” Glancing back over to the sea he stared for a moment, being one of the few blessed as he called it as a kelpi he could enjoy most of what the sea had to offer while others could not. Peeking over at the mare again he gave her a quick wink before sauntering around again. He couldn’t forget his original plan, the pearl.

Thalea AIM POST Aderyn listened, enraptured with his tale of Davey Jones. His accent made the words seem more real, as if this Davey Jones had actually existed and now scoured the seas looking for souls to share in his drowned fate. The mare was surprised that she had not heard tales of him before, but when she saw the sea, usually she was alone and had no one to talk to, well the ocean animals, but they never really responded back to her words. "He sounds like a fierce force, one who would cause any soquili to shudder in their hooves. Do you have more sea stories? My father is a story teller, but most of those weavings were of horror and frights of the land. They made grown soquili stay up at night and wish for their mommies." Aderyn smiled at her last words, his tales had made her heart race and perhaps she had called out to her mother, but she was little then. She continued to watch him as he sauntered around the beach, he was quite confident in himself. Who was this sea loving stallion who had so much confidence in himself and what was he to gain from this little chat?

hanging gallow AIM POST Kraken gave a deep chuckle as the mare asked about other stories, “Aye o' course I have other stories about t' sea, like t' sirens that would lure stallions t' their deaths, beast with tentacles that would sink mountains, creatures with pelts that would fool t' soquili, t' tail o' t' infamous Blackmane, even t' dashin' Mari Reed, a lot o' tale I know about t' seas miss but everyone should at least know o' Davey Jones.” As he spoke Kraken moved around pacing excitedly, as he spoke about the creatures he smacked his tail against his leg giving a loud “thwack” sound. For Blackman and Mari Reed he curled the end of tail as if he was grasping a sword of sorts and waved it to the side as if defending himself from imaginary foes before giving another chuckle and winking at the mare. “Besides what sort o' sea fearin' lover would I be if I did not know a tall tale or two t' tell, all....” Kraken paused as the word pirate lingered on the edge of his tongue, if he mentioned it now it would alert her that he was nothing more than a thief being charming. “ kelpi know these stories and legends its just like any land legend story pass’d around. Though if I tell you another you will have t' pay with a story in return.”
