It was supposed to be simple. Some little rat, all holed up in a hotel room, no guards, perfect. Middle of the night, not a sound of a scuffle, no evidence to be left behind, easy peasy.

Or rather it should have been.

No one had told her that the target was one of her brother's ex-assassins. No one had told her she had been expected, that he'd fight back. With the deed done, she had managed to flee with her injuries, running across the rooftops as the sharp pain in her leg threatened to compromise her safe return. It wasn't until she fell, right into the open street, and landed further on the metal protruding through her boot that she had to give in to limping, blood spilling in small drops on to the dusty street.

Catherine finally collapsed in the small alleyway against the cold stone wall, breathing heavily. Well. Tonight was going just fantastically, wasn't it? She was going to die, or be caught, and she wasn't exactly sure which one would do her better.

It had been a fairly pleasant night for Adin, actually. Work had run somewhat late, and then he had been invited for drinks with a couple of coworkers. He was not much of an imbiber himself, but it had been fun nonetheless and he was headed home in good spirits.

It was Izsula who first alerted him that something might be going wrong. She lowered her head to sniff a small, dark spot. Why would he ever assume that it was a real issue?

"What is it, Iz?"

'Blood. Human.'

Adin froze. Someone was bleeding? Really, a knife fight or barroom brawl were not any of his business, but something in him urged him to investigate. He didn't hear any shouting, after all. Apparently feeling her Summoner's will, Izsi began down the road, following the trail that Adin could now see. They wheeled around a corner to see a dark, huddle shape. They approached within a reasonable distance, one of Adin's hands out as if to maintain this bleeding person's personal space.

It didn't help that the silhouette of a hound reflected back upon the wall.

"Hello? Are you alright?"

There was a deep growl from the hound as his gold eyes trained immediately on the two as they approached his summoner. He was ready to lash out, to protect, to keep whatever harm that was to come to her away. He shut up a little as a hand stroked over his head, the assassin breathing quietly as she kept her eyes on Adin.

Her other hand hesitated at her thigh, reaching quickly for a dagger, though she didn't draw it, not yet. Sharp green eyes were kept on his the entire time, letting her hound instead meet Izsi's eyes. However, despite her calm and stiff demeanor, it was clear she was the one who had left the blood trail, a small puddle forming under her leg, and her leather outfit shining from the crimson liquid.

"Don't. Say. A. Word." She hisses, voice firm and commanding, though kept down as to not attract attention. "Get in here more. You're too obvious."

Too 'obvious'? Adin didn't question it, instead slipping further into the alleyway. The other hound seemed less interested in him than in Izsi, and for that he was glad. This woman was clearly hurt, however. She could bleed out out here without help.

He opened his mouth to speak, but remembered his command. Instead he just furrowed his brow and tilted his head. Something was... off here. What in the world was she wearing?

Meanwhile, Izsi's ears had flattened back against her head. She was a broad, muscular beast even for a hound, and her head lowered in near-threat. If this stranger would attack, she would not hesitate to defend herself. She did not growl, though and she did not lunge. It was her preference to avoid conflict whenever possible.

She doesn't seem to relax even a muscle when he follows her orders, keeping her eyes trained on his. Something indeed wasn't right. Women didn't usually wear tight leather that contained every inch of their body, or were left in alleyways bleeding out slowly. What in the world had he stumbled in upon.

"You'll keep you're voice down, alright? Do you think you can help me? I need to get out of here." She hushed, hand still resting where it could draw her dagger with ease. Now that he was closer, he could see there was definitely far more blood than he had thought, seeping from her side, shoulders, arms, and leg, leaving the leather slick and shining in the dim light.

Renthi finally hushed his growling, keeping low to the ground, hunched next to his summoner. He wasn't sure about these two, but....What Catherine wanted, she usually got.

His eyes grew wide in response to this higher concentration of blood. This woman would die if he left her alone, but there was something about her that he didn't trust. Was all of that blood hers?

"I... I can get you to a doctor," he said softly, offering a little nod. Beyond that, he wanted nothing to do with her. He offered down a hand to help the woman up.

Izsi eyeballed the hound now hunched by her Summoner. Her glance was one of warning; she would rather not fight, but don't you dare make a move. She had no interest in talking to this hound, and were it not for his companions wounds she would have simply continued on.

"No!" It came rather suddenly, almost panicked as soon as he asked, though still only a whisper on the wind. Her eyes were firm, and she would not be moved on the subject. "Don't. Just get me a needle and thread. I can do this myself." She hissed, though took his hand carefully all the while.

Her hands were certainly strong, a firm touch coming when she tried to get up. She wobbled a bit on one leg once she was on her feet, leaving one foot slightly suspended in the air. Was she that badly hurt? Her hands were covered in tiny scars, remnants of knicks and cuts, certainly. Were they from that blade on her thigh?

Renthi stood with her, eyeing this other Summoner and hound carefully. He still wasn't quite sure about this....But a live Summoner was certainly better than a dead one.

He wanted to retract his hand immediately. No, she wouldn't go to a doctor? Well then, love, you were on your own. She already had him in her grip, though. Adin pulled her to her feet with some reluctance and shook his head.

"Where the hell do you expect me to find that so late at night?" Most shops were closed by now, and he wouldn't quite know where to find proper surgical equipment as it was. He eyed the sheath of her dagger at the same time as Izsi, who turned her head to him. He shook his head.

He was not about to ask a strange, armed woman about the myriad uses of her blade. He didn't want to see himself on the receiving end of it, really.

Having pulled the woman up, though, he did not move. He certainly wasn't bringing her to his home, but he wasn't sure where else they could wander.

"There's got to be some seamstress still open. Or maybe someone like you might have a small sewing kit in your house." She insists, wavering as she almost falls, keeping her one foot up. "I can't exactly walk right now you know. Come on, help me, and let's get a move on." One certainly can't argue she's firm in her words...

Renthi moved to her other side to help keep an eye on her in case he let go. While he'd be absolutely livid if he did, making sure his Catherine had something to land on besides the brick wall and the cobblestone was important.

There was a soft, exasperated groan as Adin relented and wrapped an arm up around the woman's shoulders. He isn't bringing her to any seamstress, especially now that he had blood on his clothes. He could think of only one that would let him in at this point of the evening, but he wasn't about to put her and her children in danger. When they reached the road from the alleyway, he peered around and tried to see if there was anyone he could drop this girl off with. The police, perhaps?

He saw no one.

"Please tell me this is all yours."

Izsi looked up to him in a way he didn't like.

It wasn't hard to help her along. She was thin, very thin, and pretty light as well. Perhaps it was for the best that he helped her, she would bleed out otherwise, wouldn't she? But at least for her sake, no one was about when they finally emerged. If there had been.....She didn't even want to think about what would happen.

However, at his question, she frowned the slightest, pausing to think for a while.

"Well...." She starts, letting it trail off, "Most of it is."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 16, 2014 12:55 pm

Adin made an indistinct sound somewhere between a choke and a sigh. So it wasn't all hers, which meant he was currently assisting a murderer. Well, to be fair, she might only have assaulted someone much stronger than her with the intent to kill them. Either way, he didn't want someone else's blood on his clothes. He did not want her in his home.

To bring her to a doctor might mean damning her to the police, and to bring her to the police meant someone else might come looking for him.

Izsula seemed much less concerned with this moral dilemma, and so she turned to him. He looked back.

"No, Iz."

Oh, but yes. The man swallowed and rolled his head along with his eyes.

"My hound would like to see your dagger."

Oh she knew that sound, and she didn't like it. He wouldn't just leave her here, would he? Not when she had her blade and a hound ready to help convince him towards whatever she needed. But it seemed, at least, for the moment he wasn't going to do anything stupid.

There's the slightest hesitation when he finally speaks for his hound, the woman raising an eyebrow. Her dagger? The hound wants to see it? .....Well. It's not like her legs will be any worse off....

In the blink of an eye, she's holding the dagger out to Izsi, seeming rather neutral on the subject.

"Any reason why?"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 16, 2014 3:38 pm

Izsi's eyes turned to the blade, and the knife began to lift from the murderer's hand. Both she and her Summoner were fairly certain that was what this woman was, anyway. She turned the blade over in the air before her, keeping pace with the others.

Adin was repulsed by the very warmth that comes from the woman's body. He wanted to drop her and run, but betrayal at this point could mean so many terrible things for him. He was not a particularly hard man to find.

If she knew they were both thinking her a murderess, she would have been quick to correct them. Assassin sounds so much classier anyway. But she lets the blade go, allowing the hound to look it over. There is indeed still blood seeped into the delicate engravings, causing them to gleam in the dim light, and really it seems to be a work of art. Shame it's been used tonight to kill.

Catherine, on the other hand, was thankful for the helping hand. She didn't want him to get in trouble any more than he did, and the faster they got somewhere safe, somewhere indoors, the better. "Where are we headed?" She asks, voice still quiet, not wanting to disrupt the quiet peace that had come between them.
