Merikh found that using the trees was a rather good way to continue to move around the Ysali that was still following him. It was blinded now by its need to kill him because he had killed its companion. It wouldn't make the dragon any easier to kill, if anything it was making it a little tougher since it was snapping in all directions and casting spells that sent entangling vines in all directions. He wasn't at all pleased with the way that the dragon was bringing out its best attacks but at the same time it was a better challenge and would allow him to know a bit more about their counterparts amongst the Dovaa race. Each of the Dovaa had a corresponding dragon to go with it, save for the Aeduan and Diabi dragons, there were no Dovaa of that sort. Fighting dragons would give him an edge up on the Dovaa of that type he felt so it was good that this dragon was showing him all of its tricks. It helped him to better understand the need to fight dragons passed collecting their orbs of Lord Draco and the Dark Lady Soudana as well.
His hand tightened on his blade and he slipped forward, making a couple attacks against the Ysali, before ducking behind another tree. He'd barely made it back to his cover before the dragon was roar and flinging vines in all directions in hopes of catching him. It managed only to entangle various trees though, much to his relief. He would just have to keep going, keep looking for his openings, and soon enough he would have the chance to finish this thing off. The only downside though to what he was doing was that he realized that he'd lost track of his mother. She was out there, somewhere, and he no longer could see or hear here. Not a comforting feeling but he figured he would be able to depend on her forever now would he? Best that he get used to flying without a net sooner then later, so to speak.
