When Orah had called him up and asked if he'd mind giving her a hand at the flower shop where she worked Arian had readily agreed. Classes hadn't yet started up for the new year and with his cousin spending a couple of days away visiting one of her friends it meant that things were relatively quiet on his front, although even if things had been busy Arian would still tried to juggle in some time so that he could give Orah a hand - although not particularly loud about it, he considered the other teen a good friend and helping her out with some tasks wasn't a particularly big ask. He'd arrived at Farah's Garden a few minutes earlier than the time they'd agreed over the phone, dressed practically in jeans and a polo neck and carrying a small plastic container and after pushing the door leading into the shop open, Arian walked in as he glanced around for Orah.

The dark haired teen was sitting on a stool behind the counter when Arian arrived, counting the money in the register as she prepared to open for the day. She looked up when she heard the door open and a smile spread across her face.
"Hey! You're early." Orah said as she set the money down and pushed the drawer shut, coming around the counter to greet her friend. A hug was always her preferred method, so of course he got one, even as awkward as it was with one hand in a thick, white cast. Her own outfit was a loose sweater dress, something she seemed to wear a rather lot of lately as the stretchy material both kept her warm and went on easily over her cast. At least they were comfortable with a pair of leggings and boots she could slip into.
"I'm really glad you had the time to come and help me out. I just can't reach things or lift things right now, so its a really huge help to have an extra pair of hands. I was just setting up the register when you came in." The teen said as she released him, turning back to lead the way to the register. "I can give you a little tour if you like, before we open up."

"Hi Orah" Arian said in greeting, a slight smile on his face as he spotted the other teen by the register. "And I figured I should just come over rather than wait the extra minutes." As his friend got up from the register and came round to greet him, it would have been hard to miss the cast round her hand and there was a look of concern mixed with in with curiosity in Arian's eyes as he stared at it. But although he was curious as to what could have been the cause of Orah's injury, it wasn't in Arian's nature to be pushy about it and so he left it at a concerned glance for the moment and instead returned her hug with a slightly awkward one-armed one of his own, "I don't mind being an extra pair of hands for you," he said, following after Orah as she walked back to the register. "Just let me know what needs lifting or doing" adding "And I'd love a small tour, just so I have an idea where everything is before the customers come." He suddenly remembered the container and indicated it. "By the way these are for you" adding "They're cookies, chocolate chip ones." Bluefire Dragonz I should have a tag for the other one soon too, sorry for the delay

"Its okay to be early! Gives us time to relax a little before we open everything up. That's usually how I like to do things, so I don't have to rush through it all." Orah said as she smiled gently, noticing the glance he gave her cast and knowing that she was going to have to tell him about it eventually. Telling Tsui had been good practice and it had let her get most of the tears out of her system. Hopefully, she could get through telling Arian without crying... for once, she wasn't sure how he'd react to it, and she didn't want to make him uncomfortable.
When the cookies were offered, Orah's face lit up with a smile and she came back to take them from him, popping the lid open to snag one out of it. Tilting the container, she offered it to him as well.
"I love chocolate chip cookies! Thank you so much, that was really thoughtful." She said as she nibbled at the treat, turning to indicate the store they were in. "Up front here are all the displays. I usually spend my free time moving stuff and dusting it when there aren't any customers to help. We shouldn't have to put much out, but you never know... if something turns out popular today, we don't want a big empty space on the shelves. The extra inventory is in the back, and while I can manage a lot of it, there are some heavier glass pots and vases that I can't, you know? There is also stuff up on the wall that I can't really reach for."
Which... sort of brought up the question of just why that was. Dropping the top back on the cookies, Orah tilted her head and led the way to the back room. The large front room was separated from the back by a wall of refrigerator cases and a beaded curtain. Once through there, they were in another large room lined with shelves, save for one wall dominated by a work bench with a couple of stools.
"I suppose now is probably the best time to explain what happened, before the customers start coming in." The young woman said as she set the cookies down on the bench, turning to brace her lower back against it. Her demeanor had turned rather serious, but she kept her eyes on the floor, finding it hard to admit her mistakes while looking her friend and team mate in the face.
"I got into a fight with a negaverse captain and the three huge youma he was commanding. It was a stupid mistake, taking them on by myself... I really should have called for you guys, but I thought I could handle a couple monsters and an agent at a lower rank. I was wrong." She said as she lifted her wrist in irony. "I took out his youma, but he bruised my ribs and broke my wrist and then... then he ripped my... starseed out of my chest." Orah's voice broke at the end and she had to draw a ragged breath to recover. Her free hand rubbed at her chest, remembering the phantom ache of it. She'd never be able to forget it...
"I probably would have died... but there was a squire, named Shangri-la, that I've sparred with before. He was nearby and he managed to take out the captain and return my starseed to me. He took me took me to the hospital, afterwards." Her voice was soft as she filled in the details, lightly lifting and dropping her slender shoulders. It was a painful memory to relive.

"I probably shouldn't" Arian told Orah with a rueful smile. "After all they're supposed to be your cookies and we have more at home." He couldn't resist snagging one of the cookies though and after thanking his friend he followed after her and nibbled at the biscuit as she pointed out where everything was. "Well you can think of me as your hands today" he said with another of his small smiles after Orah finished pointing everything out. "At least for the purpose of anything even remotely heavy." Then the smile slipped from his face as they reached the back room and Orah explained just how she'd come about her injury, shock flitting across his face as it sunk in just how close his friend had come to dying that night. "I wished you'd called me" he said at last. "Or one of the others. I'd have come if I'd known you needed the back up." At least Arian hoped that Orah knew that. "But I'm glad that Shangri-La was there to help you" the name seemed familiar and after a moment or two of thought, Arian managed to place the Knight from the training sessions that Maia had put on. He gave Orah a slightly awkward hug "And I'm glad that you're still here with us. I.. I see you as a friend as well as a team mate." He wasn't as demonstrative as either Orah or Gwen so after he said his piece, Arian stepped back awkwardly. Bluefire Dragonz I'm sorry to have taken so long with this, the other ones should get tagged today too
