The big kalona mare looked around for a place to land and pick the last of breakfast out of her teeth, not to mention feathers out of her mane. Always nice when hawks were too busy hunting little prey to realize they were being hunted themselves. There was a delightful irony in that for her, the hunter being the hunted.

She spotted an outcropping that looked promising and turned, angling for it. She landed gracefully furling wings and shaking her head to toss out the remaining feathers, before starting on the blood on her muzzle and whatever was stuck in her teeth. Once done she looked over her surroundings and noted that the area was well kept, probably as she'd used it as a landing and take off strip. A devious smile curled across her face. Maybe a family of feather-wings used it? Wouldn't that just be perfect? Something or someone to let a little of the well controlled anger that simmered just below the surface out on.

User Image Demon was out fetching supper for his family when he heard the all too familiar sound of someone landing nearby. He had been in the middle of killing a deer, and therefore unable to look up immediately, when the sound had first reached him. Another trespasser! He was growing more and more aggravated by them. There were those that come looking for glory -defeating the nasty Kalona that rules the mountain, there were others who simply wanted to come and gawp at a real life legend... and then some, who he was actually starting to see as the worst, who actually wanted something from him. Be it to have him listen to a problem, or try and solve a dilemma or conflict for them... or teach them Black Magic. Word was spreading fast, which was a good thing for the most part, but this was a consequence he was starting to find disfavour with. Perhaps he should start putting heads on spikes in warning?

He licked his lips at the thought, what a delicious and gruesome sight that would create, his family wouldn't mind... Cherish would just smile and agree, Riverio would hold no opinion, Payne and Phury would likely wish to help, and Zeath would be most useful with those flexible claws of his. They were a rag-tag group, they were his.... and Demon was highly possessive and overprotective with what was his. This mountain was his, the wolf pack was his, his family was his.... and he would have it no other way.

Knowing what a sight he must be covered in a fresh kill, rubbed himself over it to mark his scent and then went in search of the intruder. It didn't take long, and they were currently spitting out what appeared to be hawk feathers. From the features it was a kalona, pure breed too if their features were anything to go by. And if her wings and horns and tail hadn't given her away that devious little smirk would have... a smirk that only ever meant one thing... trouble. He huffed. As if one puny creature would ever be a match for him.

He strode forward with a confident gait, he didn't bother unfurling his wings to show his true size, didn't need to, he knew he was intimidating to most simply from his appearance. He was scarred, had chains left over from escaping Lana'thels clutches, several horns and extra long fangs... and if none of that warned you of his menacing personality then his glowing eyes soon would. They were cold and void of true emotions. "You are trespassing." He stated. Circling her as he took in her scent and features, took in the way her muscles bulged and relaxed. If his own dislikes were anything to go by it was likely racking against her heckles that he was examining her like this... good, push her out of her comfort zone. She should stand his attentions for intruding upon his seclusion and solitude. "This is my mountain. And I should warn you that my mood severely sours when someone pops by uninvited."

Stopped in front of her, face to face, he examined her some more, as if assessing her worth and as of yet undecided of her value. Kalona's were important, the life blood of the world as far as he was concerned. It had been drilled into him from his mother how important they were... while his father was much more relaxed in his view of the world... wings and an interesting quality was enough for him to breed. His excuse was to create the perfect creature to carry on his genes and make him proud... odd how Demon was not considered anything close to his ideal result. What his father sought Demon would never know, and he suspected it didn't even exist. Whatever, he had no time for his old mans delusional ways.

Her smiled faded as a male strode onto the outcropping, and the images of terrified feather-wings was replaced with angry male kalona's. She took a deep breath, her expression icing over, and the rage backed down to dull simmer from full boil. She wondered how to handle this male, he was old...probably older than even her parents, used to authority from his body language, but...was he at that age where the grasp on his leadership was slipping? She decided not to risk it, even if she was big for a female, a battle hardened male used to fighting for his territory was no match for her. After all her experience was limited to mock battles as a foal under the supervision of her father, may he burn in the pit. Her pride though wouldn't allow her to just roll over and let him walk all over her. So deference but let him know she had teeth too.

"I had no idea, I was. You see I'm not from around here, and I was merely looking for a spot to land for a moment and tidy up. No harm no foul." her tone said innocence of youth, but the smile she showed was all fang. "Would it kill you to let one little mare take a moment to catch her breath and sort herself out? Maybe even get a little nap? As you can see I'm all alone, I haven't hunted your territory, and I can hardly be after your mate, as I'm the wrong gender for that. I'm no threat at all to you." she said almost daring him to push her over the line and let the rage out of it's confines. "Just a lost mare." she said in an almost wistful tone, but there was a slight clench of her jaw in annoyance at acting like, and being treated as a common vagabond.

Demon huffed at her little speech. It was good, all innocent eyes and faked whimsy... but it was not good enough, he saw it to be naught but a charade and he was fed up of playing the guessing game. "Perhaps for another other breed of mare that may be true... but you are not just any breed. You seem to forget that I know all too well the impulses of our breed." He stepped closer, shifting to the side as his serpentine tail stroked her face and he stepped away from her again.... to the side this time.

"You have rested for a moment, I will not permit you to nap... that would be foolish of me." Especially with my family so close, although most of them would be able to defend themselves he wasn't so sure about Cherish, the fact that she had been kidnapped all that time ago only spoke volumes about that. "Now go, before you annoy me even more."

He didn't care for her excuses, and his anger was bubbling just below the surface, like a cauldron reaching the boil he knew all too well that soon it would overflow.... but he welcomed the sensation, tamed it with his will power and focused it on his purpose. She looked young though, similar age to his Zeath. Perhaps it was for that reason alone that he hadn't attacked and chased her off on sight... but such generosity would not last for long.

As his tail caressed her face she ground her teeth and barely refrained from trying to bite the end of his tail off. How dare he! Not so long ago he would have bowed to her parents and the might of their herd or have his precious mountain torn down around his ears. But that had been a few months ago...now she was scraping by, and fighting with stubborn old males about standing on some gods forsaken ledge that she didn't really give a flying rats behind about. At this point it was just the principal of the thing! If she could be cowed over this, she may as well go put flowers in her mane and prance about in the meadows with the unicorns, preaching love and peace!

Her mind raced as she glanced around, there had to be a reason he hadn't just barreled her off the edge in the first place. What could it be though? Maybe...she reminded him of someone? Someone he wanted to protect...could she use that against him? But how...suddenly she had an idea. Something she'd done as a foal to get out doing things her parents requested and do as she pleased. It was an old ploy, but what better than an old plot for an old stallion. She just hoped his own foals hadn't pulled similar stunts. Now to decide...Oh why not just use a combination of the favorites, and if for some reason he called her bluff, she'd just fly off and loop around later and rest here anyway for the night. See how the old boy liked that!

"Fine, I'm going!" she said dropping the sweet and innocent act. He'd already seen through that so there was no point in overdoing it, besides it made her want to kill herself. She strutted towards him a bit before flicking out her wings barely missing hitting him in the face with the tip and began her run up to leap into the air. At about the halfway mark she fell, a well practiced move that to an outsider looked like she'd tangled herself in a knot all legs and wings, but didn't actually cause her injury. Now to put the frosting on the proverbial cake.

That started by doing what any good kalona would do. She swore, loudly and with every curse she knew, she righted herself and made sure to put just enough pressure on her right front foot to make it look believable for when she crumpled. She screeched, "Spirits of air and darkness!" she tested the "injury" again and crumpled again with a wince and hiss. She looked over at the stallion, not to judge his reaction, that would be telling, but with a "pain" filled look. "But I'll still go...I'll manage..." she said, moving to extend her wings but again hissed and pulled her left one in sharply. "I think I've bruised something damn it all!" she swore. Now it was his turn.

Demon was rather proud of the fact that despite not expecting her intention of opening his wings he didn't flinch even when it came mere inches from his face. He would have have once had to repay the favour for that infraction, but he long stopped having to repay every little thing... wiser he supposed, and it was clear she was just a little kid. He was pretty sure he had once been just as hot-headed... what true kalona wasn't?

"Very wise young one...." Despite his words he had a feeling she was playing yet another game, another tactic... maybe it was because he had used every one under the sun in his youth, and later watched his children.. so he was a little curious to see what tactic she would use.... at least she had dropped the whole innocent act, that one grated on his nerves more than others.

As he watched her take flight he had to pause for a moment at the sight of her legs and wings doing some odd things before finally seeming to implode and collapse in on themselves and then fail.... he quirked a brow, taking a moment to watch her... faking or real? That was a rather impressive repertoire of swear words to say the least....

It wasn't until she spoke that he got his answer. Faking. She was laying it on thick, or at least that was how he saw it, she could be telling the truth he supposed but something niggled at him to doubt her. Sneaky female.

With a huff he approached her, getting into her face, his glowing white eyes boring into her as he scented the air. "You smell like a lie." He flashed his teeth, his fangs showing as a snarl formed. "And you know it as well as I do... female."

User Image Gishoni hadn't seen his son and grandchildren in so long, in many ways he was secretly proud of everything his son had achieved... even if his mate didn't have wings! She may have the demonic horns but the missing feature put a sever dampener on his fondness towards her.... and two of their children? So small he had to wonder if they were simply something he had accidentally stepped on and brought to life... though he had to admit he held a fondness for their spunky attitude.

He still longed to complete his personal mission, to find a way to create the perfect being to pass on his genes. His past breedings were so far not completely right in his mind, but soon... he had a feeling that soon he would find something that would match him, give him something he hadn't seen before and wanted a slice of. There was so much cake out there and he wanted to gobble it all up... as long as it fit his criteria of course.

As he approached the mountain an all too familiar growl reached him, his son! He landed to see the guy nose to nose with a young kalona... female? The short hair made it hard to tell from this distance but her figure certainly seemed more feminine than his own. He didn't care about hair, his last breeding partner had been bald after all.... but strong.... with a growled chuckle he approached the obviously angry pair. "Now now," he clucked his tongue before allowing it to lick along one of his extremely long fangs. "Settle down children." He winked at the female, simply feeling the playfulness that usually consumed him when someone caught his eye.

Demon turned to glare at his father, rolling his eyes at the guys flirtatious ways. "Good afternoon father.... and what exactly brings you to my mountain?"

"Oh, hush now son.... I am far more interested in this delightful creature beside you right now." He mused. Stepping even closer and inclining his head slightly, "Gishoni. And it is a pleasure m'dear."

Of course it was! When would he ever learn not to both trying to expect more of his father? The guy would never change... and in many ways he was glad he hadn't turned out like him.

Tizona's eyes flashed and narrowed. Well it had been worth a try. Maybe that particular ploy only worked on one's own parents. They were more likely to try and ensure the health and well being of their offspring as opposed to strangers...maybe if he'd been a female...well that was an experiment for another time.

"And you smell like--" her retort was cut off as another male landed. She looked over and arched an eyebrow. Well didn't he cut quite the figure! Her parents hadn't been much for frippery, but she found her tastes ran contrary to theirs.

Yes, the other male...this second one's..son, a fact that baffled her as the two were night and day from each other, could have been said to be just as well appareled as his father, but he did nothing for her. In fact using her gender as a weapon hadn't even dawned on her, except to play naive and innocent, like a daughter perhaps, not an object of desire. The fact he was probably twice her age didn't even dawn on her, a handsome stallion was a handsome stallion.

The last thing she expected was the interest to be shared. She blushed slightly at his wink to her, and felt herself being charmed at his compliment to her. Inside she kicked herself, what was she thinking? Acting like some feather brained fool! It could be a trap and the next thing she knew she'd be plummeting to her death on the rocks below. But trick or not, no stallion had ever turned his eye on her before, and honestly, she was enjoying it.

She shook off any pretense of injury and lifted her head slightly turning it in a coy gesture she didn't even know she knew. "I'm Tizona, my good, sir, and the pleasure is mutual." she said with what she hoped was a fetching and inviting smile.

"Oh Kalona! I think I'm going to vomit!" He growled, his head looking between the pair and then landing on his father, the old guy should know better! What the hell was up with him! It was a child, a pure kalona, but a child all the same! Yet that didn't seem to phase his father at all and that rather p*ssed him off!

With a huff, an agitated swish of his tail... after all, what child wanted to bare witness to such an atrocity where their own parents were concerned? He said through gritted teeth. "Father... Gishoni... lay it off before I tear your eyes out through the back of your head." He gave an almost too sweet smile, though he knew it didn't reach his eyes and that his father would see it for what it was... a threat.

Gishoni glanced at Demon and flicked his tail in response. "I may be impressed with your talents son, but remember who is the elder of us! I sired you! Me! Without me there would be no you to lord over this mountain in the first place!" He knew he was simply pushing his son, but he did so enjoy the challenge, and Demon always provided a challenge, with each encounter between them it grew ever increasingly hard to actually stand his ground, his son was far more battle hardened than him, and had earned his reputation through blood and glory.... and yes, Gishoni was proud of that, was proud to boast of his sons achievements... if only the fool hadn't picked his particular mare for a mate everything would be fine between them!

He snorted, letting his aggravation out through his nose, he was busy... he had someone else worthy of his attention right now. "Since she is causing you so much trouble, how about I escort her away from here;" Have my way with her "And get her out of you way?" Though Gishoni knew this would be no long drawn out courtship he also knew he had to be careful, he couldn't seem presume that she would go along with him, sure she was showing all the signs of a willing female but Gishoni had got far before only to have his best laid plans backfire and explode in his face.

Heavy hooves moved closer, his tail swaying gently behind him as he narrowed his glowing red eyes to examine her more closely. His eyes were better suited to darker environments but he could see well enough right now to get the details. Her colouring complimented his own, and her wings seemed powerful and mighty.

Demon rolled his eyes. "Whatever, I do not care the means of her departure simply that she leaves." He stepped away, already bored with this interaction. He trusted his father enough to get rid of the stray creature... even if technically she was about to help sire the next bout of his father's legacy and provide him with half-siblings. He wanted to shudder at the thought... "Just be gone. I will take my family that you are too preoccupied to visit them right now." As if he cared, while he would never turn his back on his father... though they didn't exactly see eye to eye most of the time, he wasn't all that keen on him spending time around his family either. That critical eye of his, annoyed him... and one day Demon was sure he would simply rip his fathers throat out for the continued insult.

He licked his lips at the thought. What a delightful sight that would be!

"Very well Demon, your wish is my command." He half teased, though he did intend to do as he asked. "Care to join Tizona?" He practically purred her name with his most sensual tone, master through out his many similar encounters.... "The walk down the mountain can be.... rather enjoyable... when with the right company." He winked at her again, inclining his head slightly in an almost mock bow. "And I will admit that you have perked my interest m'dear."

Tizona watched the exchange between the two stallions with a critical eye. There was definitely some strife between the two of them, and somehow she'd ended up in the middle of it. She wasn't sure if she was pleased or worried about that. Especially since the younger of the pair started out with something that seemed to resemble a defense of her character.

Her eyes flicked between the pair as she considered her options, and put on a passable mask of boredom, staring off to the side, before jerking her head back as she was again the focus of attention. "Oh, well..." she was about to spit hellfire at the idea of being asked to walk, but then remembered her own father asking her mother to stroll with him some evenings, which had brought the lesson of the difference between a walk and a "walk." Things were happening so very quickly all of a sudden and her head swam for a moment. Two things became clear at that instant: 1) Gishoni was handsome, strong, and interested, and wasn't she going to need strong little warriors to make those that betrayed her pay? and 2) It would piss of Demon, and going with his father just might be the best revenge she could ever wreck on the brown male.

"I'd love too~" she purred, sauntering towards him and just barely brushing against him. "Lead the way."

Demon rolled his eyes at the pair.... they were evidently suited to each other. Good riddance to bad rubbish.... though of course if this venture bore fruit for his father it was possible the guy would try to dump another child on him. He grit his teeth, what did he look like? A walking bloody nursery? Of course.... taking them meant he could shape them his way... and if that didn't work, they made good targets for his own children to practice on.

He walked for a while longer before kicking off the ground and flying home, he didn't want anything more to do with the pair right now.

Gishoni chuckles at her reply and licks his lips as if he could practically taste her blood on his tongue.... he would taste her, just had to! She was a feisty young thing and he bet her blood was rich and youthful!

With an almost, but not quite, mocking bow he stated pleasantly enough. "Come on then m'dear." Winks at her. "Before the big bad shadow comes back to harass us some more."

He set off at a slow pace, glancing back at her to ensure she was with him before starting again. "What fortune to find someone as you here?" He licked his lips, never one to beat around the bush much. He took what he wanted eventually.... even if he did manipulate others in to believing they had chosen too..... so many fools in the world, so many creatures with interesting features that he wanted to monopolize and merge with his genes.... one day he would create perfection! "So... what brings you to this neck of the woods? Exploring or lost?" He grinned and purred the next part, "Or drawn to me?" He winked playfully at her, hoping to entice her into a coupling with a show of charm. His features spoke for himself. He was an extremely large stallion, cat like markings adorned his pelt, five horns on his head, extremely large fangs perfect for bleeding creatures, a spade tail and traditional kalona wings.... and if that wasn't enough his lust and rage were so potent that they had turned his eyes to a glowing red. Even in the dim light of the forest the glow was obvious.

Tizona smirked and followed the older stallion down the path. She shuffled her wings a bit getting them more tightly furled against her so they'd be less in the way, especially as they got into the tree line. She normally wasn't a fan of being under cover, to much could happen and the next thing you knew you had a broken wing, or twisted ankle. It was however more private, and that she figured was the point.

She snorted softly at the bravado of the stallion. He certainly was full of himself, she let her eye pass over him and figured at this point he deserved it. He was quite a looker, a fine specimen of a kalona male. "Perhaps a little bit of all three." she said lightly. "Although to be fair I didn't know this was claimed territory at all. I snagged a hawk, and needed a place to tidy up. It wasn't until I took a good look around the ledge that I realized it was actually used." she debated what more to say. Her tail lashed gently from side to side.

Curiosity got the better of her though, and she had to ask, what was up with Demon. Besides she could work a little flattery into it. "Perhaps you'll enlighten me though to why your son so rude to someone of his own kind? He can hardly be worried about me challenging him for his territory. He's strong, a trait he obviously inherited from you, although I can tell you're still the stronger of the pair." she purred and justly lightly brushed against him. "And I like strength." she added eyes flashing.
