Grrel: Level: 33 w/ 5 e LUK : 32 2/3 VS Kiandri: No LUK or LUK EXP for her. +7 Orbs 7 dragons * 25 =175/2(group)=87.5 exp gained =88 exp. notes for me: 88 exp takes Grrel to level 35 with 26 exp. So 2 levels gained. Battle is contuned right from last hunt: Quote: Once she saw the fight was over she landed, not as elegantly as she would have like, nearby the lad. “Well, that was entertaining. Thank you for the warning and help.” She sat down and sighed. “Do you know of a safe place by any chance? I was going to try and just fly straight home, but now I’m far too tired and don’t want to risk another ambush.” This one was bound to be one of the decent ones right? The thieving types wouldn’t have tried to help nor warn her, instead they would have killed her along with the Dragons, Grrel was certain of this. Her stomach rumbled loudly, much to her embarrassment. Ugh, I’ll need to go hunting for food as well… today is just not a good one apparently. “Err, and if you know of a herd nearby that I can hunt, I’d be grateful.” Grrel was rarely polite to magescians, but this one showed some decency so some politeness was called for. Hungry and wanting a safe place to rest, Grrel wiated for the lad to answer her questions. If he knew of no where nearby then she'd go looking for a nice safe dune to burrow into and sleep there. I can eat later.. or eat him if I'm really hungry... but he did help so maybe not.

Raemos put the sword away carefully, showing his empty hands because that was what you did with wild animals. You made sure they knew you were not a threat, if you wanted to keep things civil. To whatever extent that was. "Safe place.. not here, no." he said, apologetic. "Food, though... I don't think there are herds, but if you stay near here, I can find you something to eat... would you like that?" he asked, warily, "you are... Kiandri? Why, may I ask, were you on the coast?" he assumed so, anyway. Lightning was of the Kiandri clan, and Drakein were like dragons in that respect... or so he had read. (112/2100)

So no safe place near, oh well. But food would give her energy to go find a safe place to rest. "Well, one out of the two is fine by me. And I was merely traveling back to my clan after I... tested myself." No need to tell the two legger what she'd actually been doing. The Ritual wasn't something she'd tell one of his kind! "Lead on small one.. oh wait, where are my manners? What's your name? I'm Grrel, of the family clan Serrelliz. You? If you have a name, I'll be less likely to view you as food." Most of the time anyways. Now that she'd thought of it, how did Magescian's taste? Better not let Toki know that I'm thinking this, he'd get pissed. words: 185/2100

"No leading involved... I was going to get some meat from the market..." TECHnically it wasn't stealing if it was from his and mom's supply, right? He could say he found a buyer for the last of the cured meat they'd stored here to sell, and say that the dragon orbs were payment. It wasn't entirely a lie. Entirely. But was it enough to feed the drakein? Well, He would have to find out. "Oh, ah... My name is Raemos Medrol. Medrol is my family's name. Its a pleasure to meet you, Grrel of the family clan Serrelliz..." he managed, not wanting to be food. Being food was not a good idea. "I'll be right back. Please, make yourself comfortable." he said, the politeness just... slipping out. He bowed, for extra politeness (and also because she was quite a large carnivorous creature) and hustled back to the stockyards. Yes, they had plenty of meat, still. They'd have to sell it, but that was really more up Mother's or Father's alley than Raemos's. He loaded one of their pack animals down with what he assumed was about three dragon-orbs worth of meat (and some extra because he wanted the drakein to hang around) because that was 'fair' and he could 'excuse' it. Then he made his way back, giving the creature some soft encouragement as it caught the scent of the kiandri. "Hush." he whispered, unloading the meat, "Don't worry." He didn't think that Grrel would eat his pack animal if he made sure she was otherwise fed. He had no idea, though, so he commanded the creature back to the inn with the command 'home' and looked around. "Hello?" he called, "I return bearing food?"(397/2100)

How nice, another respectful two-legger, Grrel thought as the boy bowed and left. Now if only there were more like him and less thieves! Grrel curled up on the side of a dune and waited for the boy to return. She licked her wounds clean and took a short nap, though she didn't completely go to sleep. Who knew if there were other dragons about! Or two-leggers looking for an easy kill. She woke up and smiled as she heard Raemos returning. Her stomach growled happily when she smelled the meat he'd brought. He'd brought enough to sate her hunger for now, though she did look longingly at the pack animal as it fled back to way it'd come. She stood up and stretched. The nap had given her some energy, though she really did need a full night's rest with out interruption to feel fully awake and active again. She walked down the dune towards him, " Smells tasty." She sat down next to him and looked expectantly at the food. " You may want to look away for this. I've been told that two-leggers get sick when they watch us eat..." Actually Kadryn had told her that years ago, and told her that it'd made her think that the meat could all to easily have been her. words: 402/2100

Raemos did not doubt that it would be gruesome, but he figured he could choose to look away when he wished. He did not wish so yet. "Go ahead." he said, mentally steeling himself for the carnivory. Not that he hadn't seen gore before - his family ranched, and he had been expected to help with slaughter and preparation. Sometimes, too, predators took down some of their herd and there was that too. "This test..." he asked cautiously, not wanting to overstate his welcome, "Did you, ah, pass?" He was sure she did, but he mainly wanted to make conversation. It was the sounds, rather than the sights, of her eating that were disturbing. (511/2100)

Grrel grabbed the meat and began to rip it apart, her sharp teeth shredding the meat. Some blood dibbled down the side of her jaw as she glared at Reamos. "That," she growled, "is none of your business." She was not happy about having failed the ritual, tl have a two-legger ask about it? Irritated her even more. She swished her tail and grabbed some more meat... maybe she should try to be nicer to this one.... most two-leggers were just thieves and worthless, but this one seemed young. Maybe if she was nice, she'd gain an ally like she had with Kadryn, someone she count count on not to bond.... "I .. did not succeed." Sh said after a moment in a much less snippy tone. "And it is not something I wish to discuss with non clan right now." She finished the meal before her and began to clean her teeth of the blood and meat bits. " What is one so young and small as yourself doing out here?"573/2100

Raemos shrunk under her glare. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have..." he said, edging back. He had no desire to be eaten, and if asking questions would get him eaten, then he would have to stifle his curiosity. The sounds remained, though, and he tried to hold back the churning of his stomach. When it became clear that she wasn't going to eat him, he relaxed. "I understand." he said, swallowing. His mouth and throat felt dry, but it was almost fascinating, the ease and ferocity with which the Khehora tore the carcass apart. "I am in Taliuma with my parents." he offered, "We just came back from Serenia... We live to the South of here. We're resting and resupplying before we return home"He wondered if he should have told her so much, or if - curiosity sated - she would eat him anyway. He decided, for now, to believe that she would not eat him. "We raise meat and transport animals..." he gestured at the carcass, "That's one of ours." There. Maybe instead of a prey item, the khehora would see him as a source of more long term food... that would be nice. 705/2100

DraconicFeline Setting it up so that we can have them rest, talk, then go and hunt? Or they can get ambushed as they walk there... I forget the exact plan we had XD So this boy was one of those who owned the large herds of animals that her people sometimes raided... Not her clan since they lived too deep in the desert, but other kin. She looked at him and wondered why an Oblivionite would be on Serenia... maybe they were trading meat? She shrugged inwardly, it was of no importance now. She finished her meal and looked at him expectantly. Well, he was a nice boy.. maybe he could be a good conversationalist. "Now that I have eaten, I will need a place to rest. There is a dune near here that has a small cave in its side that I know of. It is a whiles a way, so if you wish to accompany me, I won't say no. The company would be appreciated as would help should there be more dragons about." There, that was civilized enough right? And it was true, she was getting sick of flying alone. Company would be nice. Plus maybe during the walk there she could broach the subject of bondeds; get this one to see it for the slavery it was. words: 761/2100

robot kitten Tieskips! Timeskips are my friend. Muse blahs are not *kicks muse* Accompany, he hoped, meant that he was not food. "My family was planning on heading homeward soon, Today, supplies permitting." he said, thinking, "I was to go with them, but..." he took a deep breath, surprised at how bold he was being. "We have a barn. It is spacious and I am sure you would be comfortable..." Seren's feathers, was he really inviting a full grown Khehora into his barn? As if that hadn't backfired on him before? But he was just so intrigued. "And I have... Questions... about your kind that I respectfully hope you would not mind answering?" He bowed again, "Please give me a moment to talk to my parents, and I'll happily set off into the desert early..." the truth was, he needed to get away from them a bit. He didn't know why he felt so slightly stifled, or why he felt the sudden intoxicating recklessness that made the idea of travelling with a strange full-grown Khehora and hiding it in his barn sound like a good idea... perhaps he was getting older. If so, he had to wonder if it was too fast. "I don't think I will mention you." he added as an afterthought, "I should do that soon before they wonder where I am and discover you. Please, excuse me, I'll only be a moment."True to his word, he returned to the beach, a rucksack packed and firmly ensconced on his shoulders, a pleased look on his face. "I have been given permission to travel home on my own. Of course, I will not be on my own, but they didn't ask too many questions, so I did not exactly lie..." He smiled smugly, "I can take all the time I wish, so I am happy to accompany you, or take a while." The corpse suddenly caught his eye again, and he remembered that the Khehora, for all its speech, was a rather large wild animal. Who could eat him. And do pretty much whatever she wanted. "Er... As you wish" he amended. 1047/2100

She nodded at the boy's words, yes definitely tell the parents where he was! That way they didn't come looking for him and see the two of them together and get the wrong idea! Grrel thought on his words as he was gone. A barn? It'd certainly be safer than the open desert.. except from Magescians... "The barn sounds nice. Though if there's animals inside they will spend a very long night being afraid," she said with a toothy grin. "I'd love to answer your questions.. maybe ask a few of my own to." She motioned with a wing tip for him to lead the way to his home. "Lead on and ask away if you will." She said in an amused tone. She'd once been quite curious about others herself. Always wanting to know more. It'd died down after the many raids her clan had undergone. So while she was curious about the two leggers, it was no longer a burning desire to know more. words: 927/2100

robot kitten Aaaaaand timeskip? Plzdonteathimkthanks What sort of questions does she ask XD "Our barn mostly has our supplies. Most of our animals remain outside, unless there is a very bad sandstorm. Otherwise, they can handle this harsh land..." He settled the rucksack on his shoulders and started towards the desert... and home. He spent much of the trip asking questions: he had many questions about the Khehora. Some were naturalistic: How much did they eat? How often? Were families mixed in clan or always a single magic clan? Did they cast spells like Dovaa, or use raw magic like dragons? Did they come in many colors - He of course had no idea. What did Khehora like to do? What did Grrel like to do? He had never had an adult feral Khehora (who wasn't going to eat him) around to interrogate. Although it wasn't exactly nonstop chatter (there were reasonable breaks in conversation), with the back and forth questions and answers and general chatting (such as it was), time flew by, and they soon - around the late and bright afternoon - passed the markers that marked the boundaries of his parent's land. He could see, in the mirage-strewn distance, the cottage he had grown up in, and the accompanying barn. "There it is." he said, pointing. It was fun to travel with a companion, but tiring to travel on foot. He knew he would be grateful for their little well that tapped into the groundwater that fed Eowyn's oases, as well as their stored amphora of water. "I hope you have not been annoyed by my questions so far..." he said. There was one more question, one he was nervous to ask because it was... well... slightly sensitive. And it wasn't how to tell male from female Khehora... 1336/2100

Grrel listened and respond to the boys questions. Guess he must not know too much about us, but then most two leggers probably don’t care unless it’s to kill or steal our eggs. She had her own questions. Why’d an Oblivionite boy like him have a lot of Orderite scent on him that wasn’t because he’d killed one recently. What sort of two legger villages were near here (just so she could know how many of them were near her people’s clan and if it was possible to go raiding them), how many fighters lived in a village, The orderite village she’d wandered into once had little to no guards, was like most places? Or did Eowyn have more fighters? What was this boy’s interests, what did they do on a farm? What was a farm in fact? After she got her answers and gave him his they’d reached the farm. She looked around and didn’t see anyone so she wouldn’t have to go sneaking about just yet. “Oh don’t worry about annoying me.” She grinned, “If I was annoyed you’d know it. The conversation has been quite entertaining and informative in fact.” She didn’t need water just yet, though come morning she’d need some; the blood from her meal earlier had enough moisture to sustain her for now. She headed to the larger of the buildings she saw, the one without lights coming from it and that smelled like animals. “Hopefully your beasts do not panic when I enter that... barn I believe you called it.” She said wryly. 1187/2100

robot kitten Why must my computer make things difficult by being slow?! He was sure that if she was annoyed he would know it. Very well. Which was both frightening and reassuring. It occurred to him that, if he kept her in the barn, the animals would likely smell her long after she was no longer there... But there really wasn't much he could do about that. It hadn't been bad when he'd let the young khehora stay there, or when they'd had a lot of fresh slaughter stored in there before market, so he hoped that it wouldn't be bad this time. Plus, he'd given his word. Her questions had told him nearly as much as her answers. He was somewhat unnerved at the strategic bent of her questions, and about as much so at the more personal questions. But he answered as honestly and as frankly as he could, deciding that, unnerved or not, that was the better policy when dealing with a khehora who could likely smell a lie on you. "I don't think we have any animals in the barn at the moment. Just some supplies, mostly." he commented, a little distantly. His question edged at his mind, and he was trying to figure out a tasteful way to put it to the Khehora. "I'm glad I am not annoying you... I have one more question I'd like to ask..." he began, choosing his words carefully. He took a long sip from his canteen, hesitant to speak it. Oh to the desert with it. "If I may ask, what exactly is a bonded? I have heard the term, and know that there is a difference, but..." he regarded her cautiously, prepared to get his little sword out if he had to, "I am afraid I do not know what that is." he finished, letting the last of his words tumble out a little faster than he'd hoped for.
