It had been a longish sorta day and Areo had finally gotten his fill of exploring the rougelands for the time being. With that he decided to make his way to a rocky area to find a high piece of ground to rest on. He didn't want to be caught unawares ya know. The black and orange colored lion moved through the lands quickly and quietly as the evening began to wear on. He came upon an ideal location within minutes and bounded up to the top and plopped himself down with a humph and flicked his tail against the ground.
Jowls stretched as a yawn escaped from his maw and he clamped his mouth shut again as he blinked and looked across the Serengeti. He really wasn't looking for anything in particular. He was just being cautious. The rougelands weren't known to him and he kinda liked to have the upper hand when it came to such things. He turned his gaze to the east and had a feeling he wasn't going to be a lone for too much longer.

Mati was lost.
This wasn't a new thing. Mati was always lost, but she couldn't remember why. If she couldn't remember, was she really lost? She hadn't really a clue. She kept walking in the direction her mind was pulled to. She couldn't exactly recall why, but it seemed like a good direction either way.
It was, unfortunately, a bad day for her memory. She had good and bad days, that much she knew. Most of the time she remembered more, but today it seemed like not even her mother's name would come to the forefront of her mind.
At least she remembered her name. She huffed a sigh and looked upon her surroundings. She should try to find a place to rest, she figured. The day had been long already, and she hoped her memories would return with the new day's pass.

His orange gaze fell upon the earthen hues of a figure making their way in his direction. It appeared to him that they weren't in a hurry to get anywhere anytime fast so he relaxed and just kept watch. He'd make himself known eventually, he just figured he'd wait until the figure was closer and he had a better understanding of who or what he was dealing with.
As the outline got closer he began to recognize it as a lion and as it grew closer a lioness. She had quite a remarkable coat from what he could see and he decided he'd come down from his perch and greet her. Her stood up, stretched a moment, since he had the time and then turned and made his way down the rocks and came to a soft landing at the bottom as he leapt from one of the lower ones.
She was still a measureable distance away, but nothing too far so he walked towards her in a friendly sort of manner and kinda slow. He didn't want to frighten her off or anything. As he came within speaking distance he caught sight of her eyes and noted that they were a very lovely shade of green and she was quite striking to himself that it left him silent for a moment more before speaking. "Good Evening." He figured he'd keep it simple.

She was distracted a bit, by her thoughts, when the male approached. She gazed at him for a moment before she realized he had spoken. "Oh!" she said, startled. "Hello! Good Evening..." She shuffled, shyly. She was embarrassed already.
Hopefully he would not be offended by her obvious distraction, but she focused on him. She took in his markings and bright orange eyes, attempting (possibly in vain) to commit this lion to memory. "Um, are you from around here?" she asked. She wasn't good with meeting others. She forgot them often and she hated offending people. She could feel that in her chest whenever she met others - she didn't even have to remember that.
Some things just stuck - they were an innate part of her and would be with her always.

He was almost too busy admiring her to notice that she seemed to realize that she was taking a bit longer than usual to respond to someone's greeting. He didn't mind in the least bit and tried to give her a reassuring smile. He could tell she was embarrassed and it struck him as cute, and for him that was kind of a big deal. He never referred to anything as cute. Not even his sisters.
He noticed that she was concentrating very hard on him and he couldn't help but find it someone amusing. He didn't have anything stuck on him did he? He glanced down momentarily and looked at himself and didn't seem to find anything and then looked up at her as she asked if he was from around here.
"I'm from nearby, I don't live out here. If that's what you wanted to know."
He gave her a warm smile then and sat down so as to make her more at ease. He studied her for a moment and realized she looked healthy, not skinny like most rouges. Was she from another pride? Maybe she was with a band of wandering lions or something, but he doubted that thought as soon as he thunk it.
"Are you trying to find someone? Or something?'
He figured he'd ask since she seemed to want to know if he was from around here for a particular reason. Perhaps she was looking to join a pride, that would be too easy of a remedy for him to fix.

"Hm?" she forgot what she had asked. Oh! Oh right if he'd been from around here. "Yes, that's what I wanted to know!" She was flustered. She wondered for a moment where nearby was - a pride or? Did he live in a den or something else. She shook her head, trying to clear the thoughts.
She gazed back up at him, the memories of the thoughts slipping from her mind. "Um, I might be? I'm not quite sure..." she admitted. "I'm sure I have a family somewhere. I think I might have been looking for them." Though, she might not have been. Maybe she had found them and didn't remember finding them. Perhaps she left, and then forgot why.
"Or I might not have..." she looked troubled, a frown crossing her maw. She furrowed her brow, trying desperately to remember what she had been doing. The question had been a good one...

She was an interesting little thing, that much he was sure of. She seemed to be quite lost in her thoughts because it appeared to him that she almost forgot that she had asked him a question.
He moved closer towards her bridging the gap between them because he felt a sudden urge to be closer, though he didn't get too close. Last thing he needed was for her to get uncomfortable.
It seemed to him that she had a very dazed memory and there were gaps it appeared from the way she was speaking and he wondered if perhaps she had been hurt? He watched as the troubled look crossed her face and he was about to reach out and touch her when a series of things happened.
It wasn't like a seizure but everything started flashing. There were clips of images, mountains, faces, a female calling out someone's name. He wasn't entirely how long the ordeal actually lasted but it made him take step or two back as everything had to return to it's normal state of mind. Had she said her name to him at all? Matibwitibwi?
"I'm sorry, did you say that your name was Mati--" He couldn't entirely pronounce how the rest of her name went so that was all that went. He was sure someone had said a name. What was wrong with him?

Mati's attention returned to the male when he touched her gently. However, as soon as he had, he had jerked back from her. She looked at him in concern, but he soon began talking again. She wasn't sure what that was all about, but he did not seem too bothered by it.
"Oh... I don't recall saying my name..." but she could be wrong. She hoped her memory was not THAT terrible that she did not remember words she just spoke, but who really knows...
"I am called Matibwitibwi, though it is a lot to say constantly... So Mati would be fine." She looked a bit more troubled than before. Had she really forgotten saying her name. She didn't...
"How did you know though?"

It was his turn to be as equally confused as she. He gave a look that said just that and he began to think of how to explain what it was that he had seen and heard? Maybe if he just described everything? He listened as she said her name and it definitely wasn't the voice he had heard say it, the voice he heard was similar but, not. He frowned.
She did have a lovely name though.
"So, this might sound...odd. I saw green hills and mountains. Voices; one in particular saying your name. Blurs of blue and orange, more faces...." He realized he was rambling at that moment and stopped.
He probably seemed quite silly right about now. How could he remedy this.
"You have a very lovely name Mati. I'm Areoiris, but everyone calls me Areo for short."
It seemed only fair that since he had somehow managed to get her name first, he should tell her his. He furled her brow again as he tried to think of what could be going on.
Then it dawned on him. Mother had said something a long time ago, about Children of Gods. Maybe that's what was wrong with him? Maybe Izzy would know if he saw her later.

The poor lioness was doubly confused, but then she realized what he was speaking of. Her family - her brothers and sisters and her parents. She held her breath - she hadn't remembered in so long! Oh she couldn't even remember their names any longer! "My family..." she whispered, somewhat awed.
She wanted to ask more questions, but she didn't want to push. He probably knew more about her than she did now. She figured she would be frightened if the words he hadn't made sense, but they did.
"Oh, um, thank you," she ducked her head, a little flustered again at the compliment. "It's very nice to meet you Areo..." She repeated his name a few more times to herself, trying to commit it to memory and hoping it would stick.

He watched her curiously to see her reaction and it seemed as though she knew what he was speaking about much better than he. He started to make more sense of the situation at hand especially when she mentioned, almost astonished, that it was her family he was apparently seeing and hearing?
He didn't say anything when she didn't say anything more about it. He wondered if whatever had happened was going to happen again.... He hoped not, or did he? If it was helping her then it didn't bother him so much. Though it was kind of a huge rush of randomness that threw him for a loop. That could be managed though in time he was sure.
He watched as he ducked her head in embarrassment, it seemed. He couldn't help but smile at her. He realized it was starting to get a bit later and with her current state of mind, he thought it would be best if perhaps he took her to the pridelands. He wondered if she'd mind?
"This might seem kinda odd, but would you like to come back with me to my pride? I don't feel right leaving you out here by yourself." He gave her a gentle smile and tried to be reassuring to her that his intentions were completely honorable.

Mati tilted her head, considering the options. On one paw, it was getting really late and if she left now she's never learn of what the other male knew. On the other paw, he could just be crazy.
But the second didn't seem very viable in her mind. Despite her memory, she was not totally gullible. Something had to work in her favor after all, and if it was not dying than she was okay with it.
"If your pride would be okay with it?" she questioned. She did not want to disrupt or anger a large group of anything that could easily kill her. It was wise not to cause a mob out for her blood. She would go if he and his pride were okay with her being there. Otherwise, she wasn't sure if she would be okay with going. She wouldn't risk her, his, or anyone else's life as such.

As he watched her, waiting for her to decide what she wanted to do he got another flash of quick spitted images. However, they weren't of things he hadn't seen. They were of someone he thought he just had weird dreams about as a cub. He assumed at an early age that it was someone he had made up but as he grew older he had begun to realize it had been their father. The images he had seen chilled him in that moment and it dawned on him that his so called dreams as a cub had been what he was experiencing now.
Why now of all times? He shook his head clearing his vision for a moment and realized she had spoken. "Hmmm? Oh, you need not worry about that. I assure you, they will welcome you warm-heartedly." He said with a big grin. He was glad she had decided to come with him. He was curious about her and he felt drawn to her a little bit. Much like a moth to a flame.
"We call the place we are about to go the Pridelands. You can be a guest, or if you choose, you can be accepted into the pride. It's up to you of course." He didn't want to rush her, just let her know her options.

Mati gave a small nod, her mind made up. "Then I'll go with you," she told him. As long as she would be safe, she would go. She had no where to go or to return to that she could remember. She couldn't find a reason not to go with him, and she kind of wanted to.
She really kind of wanted to. He wasn't too bad looking and she was curious about this pride of his and curious about him in general. She smiled at him, gesturing him to lead the way.
