This is a Private rp. Only myself and Nikichomp should be posting here unless invited by myself and niki to join. My teepee Winter was cold, always cold.. even on the desert plains where she'd grown up it was cold, though not nearly as cold as these new lands. Still no sign of the native maiden she'd come to find. She missed the companion that had found her as a foal, raised her and been her only companion till one day she up and left.. vanished without so much as a word. She'd spent the first three years sulking, thinking it'd been her fault. but now she searched. She wanted to make sure she wasn't abandoned.. left without a thought. So here she was, here in this strange new land searching for an indian maid with no such luck as of yet.

She shivered slightly as she walked, cloven hooves marking her path in the frost. Her breath puffed out of her nostrils in white plumes, swirling lazily into the air and dissipating. Although winter wasn't her favorite, she knew that this was the season for the earth to rest, to allow new life to gather strength before blossoming across the land in spring. So she tolerated it, and as long as she'd planned ahead, she didn't have to search too hard for food.
She was new to these lands, though. She seemed to have no recollection of where she was really from. She knew only her name, Roxana, and had seen her reflection enough times in the water to know she had a horn on her head. What it was for, she hadn't a clue, but it was there nonetheless. She had wandered ever since she'd awoken near a river, memory bare. Nowhere had quite felt like home yet. She also hadn't run into any other beings quite like herself. Did they all have horns? Did others exist? She didn't know what she would find, or where. With nowhere to look, she continued to travel aimlessly, questions unanswered.

Silver and pale gold wings flicked and folded against her body tightly. Holding them against her was about the only way she had to keep them warm. Delicate as they were, she could have covered them.. but would have risked damaging them. She stopped beside an ever green tree, huddling against it's trunk as she shuddered under the thick boughs. It only seemed like it was going to get colder.. and still no sign of much of anyone since the world went to it's long cold sleep. Still, she looked out over the land, searching for sign of any living thing that might possibly help point her in the direction of what she searched for.

She noticed a lone evergreen, standing tall and mighty against the earth near a small outcropping of rocks. It seemed a bit defiant of winter, so healthy and sturdy. Roxana nearly turned and went in a direction away from the tree, when she noticed some sort of amber-brown lump sticking out from it on the side closest to her. It seemed like it probably belonged to something living, since it had what appeared to be some sort of tail sticking out of the top. She wasn't sure what sort of creatures lived in this part of the world, and she had no way of knowing if it was dangerous, so she approached slowly, quietly, and cautiously.

The crunching of snow alerted her to some one nearing her location. Lowering her head slowly, she peered out under the boughs of the ever green so heavy with their snowy burden. Bright color greeted her vision among all the white of winter. Dark brown eyes watched the figure a moment, steam puffing from her nose as she exhaled. She could feel the tickle of a sneeze creeping up and try as she might, it was only getting worse. Her head jolted and the horn on her head knocked the snow from the limb as a great "Ahcoo" echoed out from under the tree. In one instant she found herself flittering about in her tiny size, dodging this way and that the falling white powder that cascaded about her.
Flying was the last thing she'd wanted to do, then again using her energy on shrinking hadn't been any wiser, not that she'd had any choice in the matter. Honey colored mane wiped about her, threatening to bring the sorrel chestnut mare to the ground and bury her tiny form under the snow.

Roxana stood, blinking in shock. She'd been walking, approaching the shape, when there was a loud sneeze, and the snow, knocked loose from the boughs of the tree, fell onto the ground in clumps that ended up in piles higher than her front knees. The snow dust settled from the air, and she looked back to the place the brown thing had been, but it was gone! ...What?? she thought to herself, looking around. The fallen snow isn't deep enough to have buried whatever it was...
Then her eye caught movement in the air, and she noticed what appeared to be a tiny version of a creature that was very similar in shape to herself. It was the same amber-brown color that the mysterious lump had been, but it was way too small to be the same creature. She stood still and watched whatever it was fly around, waiting to see what would happen.

"Dadblastit!" She grumbled some as she flew out of the shelter of the tree and out into the open. Dipping to the ground she allowed herself to grow to a larger size once more. Standing there in the open, she shook a bit of the now that had found her from her mane sending the tear drop shaped crystal charm around her neck bobbling this way and that.
Looking around, she looked back to the other soquili and dipped her head lightly, folding her wings against her body and shuddering once more. "Sorry if I've startled you any. I didn't mean to sneeze but the cold tickled just right.. and I don't always have control over my abilities.." She trailed off some as she lowered her eyes in embarrassment.

Her mouth hung open, surprised again both when the mare changed size and when she spoke. "What...you were just small!" She stepped closer and peered closely at the stranger. She seemed to be made of flesh and blood; smelled like a living thing. But she'd never heard of anything being able to change size like that. Well, other than children, but that took a long time and it wasn't reversible. She shook her head. "I'm being impolite. I'm Roxana," she said.

. Opening her wings and closing them again, she smiled at the other mare. "Not at all.. I'm Whinny by the way" She shuffled her front hooves some, trying to stay warm. She looked at the other mare for a moment. "Well Yes.. I was just small.. Most flutters can shrink.. only.. I'm not full blooded.. so.. I can't always control my abilities.." She felt a little like she was being inspected with the way the other mare had been looking at her. Like she was obscurely different from anythign this other mare had ever seen before.

She dipped her head in acknowledgement. "Nice to meet you," she said. She blinked, silent for a moment, as she recollected her thoughts after the series of surprises. She took a closer look at Whinny, and noticed that she also had a horn protruding from her head.
"Oh!" she exclaimed, "you have a horn, too! Does everyone have a horn like us? Do you know what it's for?"

She smiled softly, that warm friendly sort of smile she gave to most anyone when first met them. "The horns? No I don't think everyone has one..." She pondered a moment the mare's second question. "What It's used for? I've heard some say it heals.. but it does seem more like a weapon of sorts.. at least that's what It's always looked like to me..." She'd never really tried to heal anything with her horn... she had enough problems just trying to control her ability to stay one size, be it small or large.

"What, healing?!" she asked incredulously. "But it's so pointy! I think it'd be easier to poke holes with it than to close them. I wonder how that would work," Roxana wondered. Then, shaking her head, she focused on the shrinking mare. "Whinny, do you live around here? I'm trying to find ... something. Somewhere, rather, to call home." Her gaze lowered as she thought briefly about the life she'd probably left behind. But, she'd decided to leave the past in the past, and that had to be that. She needed a home, and there was no shame in asking around for potential places.
