She gazed down below at the world from their nesting grounds. Secretly wondering what it was like and when will her time come when she too may venture out? Sure, she was still young and had much to learn though she doubted much use will come from her mother since she sees things quite differently. She could rely on her sisters to teach her the way of being a harpy but she felt awkward seeking out their guidance. The young harpy sighed; setting herself down to watch the setting sun in the distance and looking out dreamily at the sight before her.

Her feathers ruffled against a cool breeze alerting her that tonight was going to be a cold night. She turned her gaze back at their nesting grounds and sighed thinking that perhaps she should head back to see if she could be any help to her sisters. Though she had a feeling they’d just ignore her for being so pathetic. Nephele shook her head and rose upon her clawed feet “Have to face them eventually.”

The harpy started to head back. But something caught her eye just before she was heading back. A flower, she turned to head towards it glancind down upon it. How strange? For such a plant to be alive during this season? She leaned down to take a sniff at it.

The daylight was finally waning when Moonhoof had begun to make his way back towards the nest he'd come to call 'home' if you would for some time now. The sun was stretching its last rays of lights higher on the treetops as the ground was slowly cast upon the shadows of the night...and this was in a sense when he came to life. The natural luminescence of his antlers, hooves and bead adornments began to set him apart from the landscape of the night as if his already pale pelt didn't do that enough already. Being more of a nightlight made the stallion a little uneasy before when he was out doing his rounds of nightly herb gatherings...but now that he was in care of the harpies he found he had little to be concerned about.

Life amongst the 'sisters' wasn't bad in the slightest...in fact, other than requiring an escort for his more lengthy excursions out from their flock territory he was still free do wander a fair distance from the nest without his captor; he assumed it was more or less because she knew he really had little interest in running away and was more than contented to continue his rather hermit based lifestyle here in the grounds. Very few harpies bothered to pay him any mind; after the more desirable stallions with strength or skills which produced fine trinkets for them to wear.

Little bothered with a stallion carting around various herbs, tree bark, mosses, and other 'undesirable' things. The season had long passed for flowers at the onset of winter, and so he remained in his studies...carrying a basket back filled with winter berries, the remaining partially brown mushrooms and various mosses. However on his way back he'd paused a moment and turned his head, noting a rather vibrant harpy femme with her head down...sniffing at something she'd found. While he wasn't able to see exactly what it was she was smelling it didn't quite stop him from turning his head to the side a little in curiosity and clumsily spilling a few of the piled contents of his basket onto the ground.

"Owh browthhhur." He muttered with the handle still in his teeth, setting the basket down and trying to get the ingredients back into his basket.

One thing she needed to work on was her guard. She did not sense the stallion approaching her at all. She pulled away from the flower and turned to face him trying to raise her head up high as if trying to act like the rest of the harpies. Her blue eyes caught sight of the things he’s dropped, instead of ignoring it waiting for him to pick it up himself. She headed over towards him to help him with the fallen herbs. Nephele silently cursed in her mind thinking this probably isn’t how a harpy should be acting around a stallion. Once she helped him, she backed away from him and raised her head up once again trying to regain any sort of dignity “Shouldn’t you be heading back? ” she questioned him while resting her icy blue eyes upon him.

This was probably her first encounter with a stallion other than her father. Someone her mother resented and yet strangely loved briefly. The harpy tried to remain in a superior stance but she was failing horribly and her expression was cross from goofy to stern.

“It’s getting dark. I don’t think the sisters will be thrilled if you were to be out this late.”

This made sense right? This is how she should act? She asked herself while she kept a watchful eye upon the stallion.

Even while he was trying to swiftly gather the things he'd dropped, occasionally his golden orbs would peer up through the dark navy of his bangs, the soft jangles of his beads against the bone of his antlers echoing quietly across the immediate clearing. He'd caught when her body began to fluidly move towards him and he felt his breath hitch just for a moment, overhearing from others in his days here not all the harpies were kindly like Galla Sile and had a considerable stern disposition towards the stallions of the herd. Yet, he made no move to run, or otherwise brace for any backlash he may or may not received.

....but either way, he was more than a little relieved when she'd simply helped him with his belongings. Bless his luck, that she was not one of the fabled 'mean' ones from his eavesdropping.

This time once she had took a few steps back and addressed him he carefully used his antlers to hook the basket comfortably, lifting his own head back up to gaze to her so his lips would be free to move. "Thank you, you are very kind, like Miss Galla Sile..." His voice was low and quieter, a little crackly with the lack of strength his fellow stallions may have possess from sheer lack of using his voice. It was rare he held conversation as is, but he was certainly trying his best. "That was my intention...I meant no trouble for you or the sisters. I noticed you'd stopped to look at something...it isn't often the sisters are at the base of the tree. I thought something may have been the matter..." Although, even as he spoke he wasn't sure what she'd been initially looking at still since she stood in view between him and her previous spot. "I get distracted at the little things....a herbalist needs a keen eye or risk missing valuable materials."

Galla Sile? The name rang a bell but she had to admit she herself never spoke to her. The young harpy tilt her head slightly she was a bit curious. He was rather soft spoken and it appeared if one was going to be dominant with him, they probably wouldn’t have a hard time breaking him in. She sighed a bit and gave a light nod “Quite right, I have yet to venture out with the rest of the flock. I suppose since I lack the skills the other sisters seek. So sometimes I just come out here and watch the sunset.”

She didn’t know why she was talking to him? Should she be doing this right now? However, she felt at ease at the moment. The harpy approached the stallion and looked him over. Mostly checking out his horns feeling a bit fascniated by them "You are--? Cerynei?" she asked him. She's never met a horned stallion before.

He also oddly had a short stubby tail. Quite unique features, no wonder a sister wanted to snag him for the flock. I bet a bunch of her sisters have eyes on him when it comes to breeding. A shudder ran down her spine thinking of the possiblity of her day to come. Would she even be able to pull it off with a stallion in the future?

"What is your name?"

His posture was quite relaxed, not because he was a lazy fellow...quite contrary...it was rare Moonhoof ever took a day off; it was always with studying, perfecting, hording, mixing. There was always something to do in the world of herbalism, be it rain or shine, summer or winter...herbs changed, flourished in all types of conditions and he would be there to witness it. As she spoke he listened politely, quite used to being silent to listen when nature spoke with him. So, she was a younger mare, an apprentice like he was back in the day - if he dared think that boldly. It caught his attention she may have been lonely, he often caught himself pausing in his duties to wonder of his brother...but such a notion was fleeting as much as he loved him so.

"Excuse my curiosity....but would it not be beneficial to simply train you in a skill they seek rather than relying on raw talent?" It seemed natural to him, like he was not born with skills to be a herbalist, he was taught like so many before him. "You come off as vastly intelligent with a keen eye....its arguable you'd have plenty of options amongst your sisters." Yet...maybe he was mistaken; he wasn't an amazing social stallion by a long stretch of the imagination.

Keeping still as she gazed him over, once more proving his point that she had a keen eye and could use that to many a different advantage...but he said little till she felt she was done. "That is correct....we're lunar Cerynei....well, my brother and I. Blessed under the moon with the luminescent features you see. My name is Moonhoof..." He dipped his head ever so, carefully minding the basket still dangling from his horns along with the variety of beads and string.

Oh wait....where was his manners?

"It's nice to meet you, Miss.....?" He trailed, an invitation if she so desired to let him know her name. She seemed kindly enough, but he didn't want to upset her if she felt he didn't need to know.

“Yeah, I suppose I should be learning from my mother. She rarely teaches me anything.” She paused briefly looking down with a light sigh “I feel awkward asking one of my other sisters for guidance.”

The young harpy looked back up at him when he gave his name to her. She glanced up at the sky briefly seeing the moon amongst the twilight sky. He was indeed special then and not only that quite helpful unlike some who simply have refused being dominated “Moonhoof? That is pretty.” She complimented.

Oh, that was right! She had not introduced herself yet. The young light purple harpy gave a small smile “I am Nephele daughter of Shelke and Alesandre!” she raised her head proudly.

Folding his ears back slightly against the navy locks, the stallion could feel and hear that perhaps she really lacked the confidence she needed to be the mare her sisters desired. "If its someone you want to be...you shouldn't have reservations to pursue what would make you happy. If there is something else you may feel more strongly towards...pursue that. When I met Miss Galla Sile, she was well aware I was not of nobility and strength like some of my brethren; and desired my knowledge of herbalism. I have not asked but she seems to be an evening guard from the time she is away from her nest."

Well, that's what he believed anyways. She really came and left as she pleased, and he'd become so engorged in his research he often lost hours in the day without noticing anything around him in the hollows of a decaying tree where he held all his possessions. "That leads me to believe there is a need for many things here amongst your sisters, from what I've seen of the crafter's guild, guards, warriors, nursemaids if you will. I'm sure you could be anything you desire."

It was nice to see her smile, he decided, especially when she held her head high like the proud sisters he'd seen and all in all gotten used to living amongst the herd. It just didn't seem like them to be saddened. Dipping his head cordially to the mare he took note of of the lands around them getting darker; and of course this made his luminescent features stand out even more as he could see the light from his blue play across her ivory feathers. "Nephele....indeed a pleasure to meet a kind soul like yourself. I can't say I've heard of your parents but will keep an ear out. My craft keeps me very much isolated and alone..."
