The night was cold with a swirl of snow in the air, adding to the blanket of white that already covered the ground. It was a scene somewhat similar to what Eliaus had been witnessing night after night in her dreams, the very same reason she had come to the strange woman known as Granny Spiderlegs, as she was now.

The shop was dark save for a single light shining from somewhere in the back. The doors and windows were shut, but if Eliaus looked through the window, she would see a thin shadow cast against the wall now and then. Someone was inside and moving, perhaps even available for a visit, despite the shop being closed.

Eliaus parked the car and sighed as she leaned back and pulled out the keys, then let out a big yawn. "Why am I even here? This is crazy..." She mumbled to herself as she looked down at the little object in her hand. "I mean, really? A spirit? I wish... I think I've just gone sick in the head...I'd like to believe it but..." She held the dream catcher up to the light and sighed. She yawned again and rubbed her tired eyes "Well, I slep well last night-" She paused a moment before adding "Although I don't feel all that great or rested" under her breath. Again, she signed and yawned "And I'm here... The idea is nice if nothing else... Might as well... Eliaus was used to being tired, but she felt like her energy was being drained, and it had begun to interfere with her school and work, not to mention she also had no time to volunteer while she was playing catch up with other things. She gave a quick, silent prayer that the woman she was about to see would really be able to help her, before putting on her jacket and slipping out of her car into the cold night.

Although she could have parked closer, Eliaus knew it wasn't the best part of town, so she parked closer to the 'safe zone' and walked a good distance to get to the shop. Eliaus cursed quietly as she saw the shop was closed. She had come right after work, since she was usually more awake in the evenings and could actually function, she shifted her work schedule. Alas, it seemed to be a bit of a problem. Eliaus turned to make the trek back to her car but, like in her dream, something caught her eye. She smiled lightly as she realized she saw light and, more importantly, movement. "What a curious woman you are, Ms.Spiderlegs." She muttered with a smile and slight laugh. The teen gently knocked on the door. "Ms.Sp-" She began, but paused to yawn "Excuse me..." She muttered as she finally finished yawning and rubbed her eyes again, the cold night air stinging her uncovered face slightly. "Ms.Spiderlegs, I'm sure you are already aware, but it is Eliaus, may I please come in? I have something I would like to discuss with you. I apologize for it being after hours, unfortunately I had work, but as long as you are free..." She muttered, her voice trailing off as she was unsure how to finish her statement, she doubted the woman minded though. Eliaus had to admit, she was a bit glad she had come after work, since she looked remotely presentable. She wore a pair of dark jeans, converse and a nicer long sleeve shirt. Although it definitely wasn't her favorite suit or dress, both of which were comfortable enough for her to wear but not a good idea for her to wear to work in a music shop, it was decent. Definitely not the sweats and loose T-shirt she wore around the house or even when she went out on errands occasionally.

There was movement within the shop as Eliaus called out to the woman within, her nervous and tired ramblings blocking any sound from the other side of the door. Or perhaps the grandmother was just that deft, considering her moniker.

An amused light made Granny's eyes seem brighter than usual as she opened the door, gesturing for Eliaus to join her inside. Oh, she remembered this one. The one who looked like she'd had a spirit dogging her dreams her whole life and couldn't get enough sleep for it.

“Welcome, Eliaus,” she greeted as the door fell shut behind her. “I assume you have at least questions to come at such a later hour.” Another gesture, indicating for her client to have a seat where she wished among the wooden hardback chairs and the plsuh armchair in the corner.

Eliaus gave the woman a sleepy smile as she opened the door. She noted the light in the woman's eyes despite the late hour. "Thank you ma'am." She said as she went through the door and sat in the chairs as the woman gestured, careful not to plop down, as she had a bad habit of accidently doing so, not that it mattered much since the chair was wooden anyway. "Of course, I would not bother you at such a-" Again the teen paused to yawn, wiping her eyes again to whisk the droplets that had formed due to the yawn away. "My apologies." She murmered politely as she pulled the small brown dream catcher out of her jacket pocket. "I uh... Got a full night of sleep but..." She shook her head, yawning again. "It sure doesn't feel like it.You said something about um... Reweaving it? I think that was the word you used... Perhaps that would help?" A tired light appeared in her eyes as she curiously scanned the room, offering her own catcher to the woman. I didn't mean to bother you so late, I came over right after work since I didn't know what time you closed. Icm sorry." She clearly felt a bit guilty for troubling the woman.

Granny raised her brows at Eliaus as the girl struggled not to yawn as she spoke and failed. Her lips quirked into a hint of a smile and she nodded, holding her hand out for the dream catcher she had given away not so long ago. The non-decorative ones always seemed to be free of any monetary price.

“Reweaving, yes,” she mused as she examined the dream catcher. “Yours was a dream of a world covered in snow, yes?” Her gaze was sharp as she looked up at Eliaus, studying the teenager's face for a moment. It seemed almost as though she were looking for something, but the moment passed quickly, ending when the old woman stood and began to walk towards a large weathered desk in the center of the room. Though she was no longer near or looking directly at her guest, it was evident that she wanted an answer and hadn't lost focus.

Eliaus had slightly mixed emotions when she mentioned that her dream was about a world covered in snow, she was uncertain if she should be surprised that the woman knew or not. Although, Ms.Spidetlegs seemed to be very wise, so she figured that she probably shouldn't be surprised. "More or less, yes. Um... In my dream it's Chris-" She paused yet again to yawn, and resumed after rubbing the droplets away from her eyes once more. "Um... Where was I? Oh! Christmas! In my dream it is Christmas, and a white Christmas no less, and I'm a kid again. I run down stairs, to get a look at the presents like kids do, er... At least like I did when I was a kid, then a went to go wake up my parents, but stopped. Something kinda caught my eye. Then I opened up the present, which I think was what caught my eye, even though I was never allowed to open presents before my parents are up, and there is a puppy. My gosh I-" She paused again to yawn, "-I was so happy, and the puppy is so soft and warm. But, then, I hear something, or someone, knocking on the window abd see someone outside, I can't see them anymore than their shadow since the curtain is drawn, and they wave at me. I wave back, then it all kind of... Melts away... If that makes sense..." She covered a yawn, but her eyes stayed fixed on the woman, wondering if she would call her crazy or something, but she doubted it.

Granny listened intently to what happened in Eliaus's dream, nodding about halfway through and pulling open a drawer to retrieve some beads, scissors, and thread. Not a sound was made, though the desk looked like it had seen plenty of time and use. She paused when Christmas was mentioned, along with a puppy. The latter almost caused her to chuckle, but instead she focused on hunting for something in another drawer that left her out of sight. Normally she would offer more in the way of hospitality, but the hour was late and many Dreamers were trafficking her doorstep. They all deserved and received her attention, but it did leave her working at odd hours to compensate.

When she stood upright, she laid a small plant on the desk with the other beads. It was a sprig of holly, the berries rich and lush in the ambient light.

“A shadow. I see.” She didn't sound as though she doubted Eliaus at all, but rather, she seemed to expect no less.

“It is reassuring to know your dream remains the same as when you first told me.” Carefully, she snipped the knot in the weave that, until that moment, had been impossible to see at all. Carefully, she unwound the string and began selecting beads and measuring a length of new thread.

“And what do you think of this shadow?”
PostPosted: Sun Dec 29, 2013 3:15 pm

Eliaus couldn't help but try to get a bit of a closer look at what the woman was doing. She watched with curious and tired eyes as the woman placed holly and beads into the dream catcher. "May I ask what the um... Holly, I think that is? Anyway, may ask what the-" She paused, and yawned, then resumed, "-plant is for?" She asked, and opened her mouth to ask more questions, but shut it. She had so many questions for the woman, and didn't want to be a burden. Something about the odd woman, and the dream catcher told her that her questions would be answered in due time anyway.

Hearing Granny Spiderlegs' question, she had to pause for a moment. She wasn't quite sure what to think of the figure. "Well, in the dream I guess I feel they are a good person or a friend, since I wave but... Thinking on it, it seems kind of odd..." She laughed, then yawned, before continuing, "If they were fat I would almost think it was Saint Nick, but for some reason I don't think that is the case... They almost seem... Feminine now that I think about it... Even though it is the same dream over and over, I don't get a very good look each time... Do you think it may have been the person who left me the dog? That's one get present..." Her eyes were closed as she talked about the dream, trying, and being rather successful at recalling the details. Although, she felt odd as she realized her own words. What the heck am I saying?[lcolor] She thought, but said nothing. She had her doubts, but was curious, and also a bit desprate, she was always sleeply, but it was becoming too much for her to function. She had no other choice. Also, a small part of her that she didn't admit she had, did believe the woman.

“Your reweaving.” Granny smiled at Eliaus's questions about her supplies, continuing to wrap the thread around the frame to match the pattern she had before, occasionally placing a bead along its length. She could sense a great deal of curiosity from the girl, which was reassuring, and her reflection showed signs of common sense once in the waking world.

“Children see the world through eyes different from our own. They remain open, while those who grow older find theirs shut to the wonder and mysteries around us. If left to grow without scars, that wonder can stay for some time. They have no reason not to trust whom they see, even if they are hidden.” Watching her weaving was hypnotic, her fingers moving in precise movements that flowed like water. “Perhaps you are seeing the one who brought your gift, or maybe a piece of yourself you have not yet discovered. Perhaps you are unable to see them because it is a person you are destined to meet.”

She tied the knot and reached for the sprig of holly, looking at her guest with a knowing smile. “I believe you will discover who is greeting you before too long.”

Eliaus' eyebrow rose slightly at the woman's comments. She leaned back in her chair and thought for a moment. When she looked back at the woman, she couldn't help but notice the skill she had. Eliaus was rather certain the woman had gone through the process many times. Finally Eliaus smiked and shook her head with a slight laugh. "Man... I'm going nuts.." She muttered, although seemed more pleased by it than troubled. "I think I get where you are hinting at... Not quite sure... Although, the holly, you seemed rather particular about your beads and the holly. Is there significance to it?" She was growing more curious the more she found out, but also very confused. Another yawn reminded her to stay focused, all that really mattered was that she got more sleep, but the girl couldn't help her curiosity. "So I just hang it over my bed again and, boom, more sleep?" She asked, trying to refocus the conversation.

How many times had she heard these very same questions? Granny could see all the faces of those who had come to her, but even they were too many for her to count. She nodded to Eliaus, intending to let the girl figure out who the person was for herself when she was ready. Or rather, when the spirit was ready.

“There is, yes,” she admitted as she began to arrange the holly among the thread. “Your spirit needs a focus, a place to find an identity and to pull some of their presence enough for you to rest without being completely drained. It merely depends on what shape your dream takes.” She held up the catcher, squinting against the light before giving a nod of satisfaction at her work. “You are fortunate to have such a pleasant dream; others do not.

“Hang this above your bed as before.” She walked over to Eliaus, handing the rewoven catcher to the curious girl. “Your dreams will continue, as will your fatigue, but this will help prevent you from being overwhelmed by it.

“Your spirit needs your dreams as much as you do; it gives them strength. Now that they have attached themselves to one, they cannot part with it until it is gone or they are strong enough to break away from it. This catcher will help you with that, when the time is right.”

Eliaus was a bit troubled by the woman's words, but nodded. She wasn't bothered by the fact that she would continue to have the same dream, but she was troubled by the fact that she still would have to function with such a lack of energy. She searched the woman's face for a moment, looking for sincerity. She needed someone to fix her sleep problem but, so far nothing really helped. If anything, it seemed to be sapping more life out of her. Still, the woman seemed to be truly trying to help her. "Alright then, I suppose... About how long do you think it will be before I will be able to sleep normally- my kind of normally at least?" She asked as she took the catcher from her, running her fingers over the new weaving. She stood, a light smile on her face, another thought coming to her mind. "So, how much can a persuade you to take? Or would it be more persuasive to offer to help you out around the shop? You have to take some sort of payment thus time. My visit wad this time was too inconvenient to not pay you in some way. Besides, it bugged me even last time to not pay you." She pulled her wallet out of her jacket pocket, fully ready to pay her.

Granny laughed, the sound raw and painful, but somehow still conveyed her amusement. It sounded like she'd not done so in a long time, or her laughter came from dust. “Normal is one of the most useless words in any language, girl. But your spirit will drain your dreams and energy when it is fully developed and able to live on its own. How long that takes depends on it – and you. If you fight it, if you rob yourself and your companion of your dreams, they can stay around for a long time, sometimes years.” She frowned, frowning as she recalled some of the worst cases she'd witnessed. “Some never leave, no matter what you both may wish.”

The mention of payment brought her back to her usual self. Shaking her head, Granny waved a hand at Eliaus to cut off any further insistane about payments.

“No need to help. My granddaughter will be back soon, and that's more than enough for this shop. If you truly wish to pay me back, then send anyone you think may be having the same issue to me. That will be more than enough.”
PostPosted: Sun Dec 29, 2013 8:30 pm

Eliaus was a bit surprised as the woman laughed, a light smile setting on her face, feeling a bit glad to make the woman laugh since it seemed like it had been quite a while since the woman had done so. Although, she was slightly troubled by the latter part of the woman's reply, and how her expression changed. "Well that's... Comforting." She replied sarcastically, then yawned again.

She didn't seem too pleased to hear the woman's reaction to payment either. She put away her wallet, but wasn't giving up entirely. "I will, but you know it is going to eat away at me more than this spirit is if I can't really pay you some how. What if I popped by randomly with lunch or something? What do you and your grand daughter like to eat?" She asked stubbornly, she wanted to pay the woman, she felt bad for causing so much trouble and not paying her in anyway other than referrals.

"I do not see that being a problem for yourself. Your dream is very...warm. Comforting." Granny's lips pressed into a thin line as she stood her ground at the repeated offer of payment, her next head shake a little more solid and stubborn than the last. "I will see what she thinks, but we do not do this for payment. We have had others come to our door in the early morning hours when even the doves are asleep. Your reccommendation is enough.
