Kiyelt had skidded down the mountain much faster then he had trudged up his side, his descent was made more complicated by the rose colored sailscale he had saved flying swiftly alongside him and periodically wrapping her wings around him in a lizardy embrace. He assumed this was some mix of affection and gratitude from the lovestruck female. He liked it when he wasn't in peril of falling flat on his face. He would have stayed on the mountain but he didn't fancy eating the scrawny rodent types that dwelt there so he came back to the lowlands to find food.

Duke Edward Drake Sorry this took me so long to get to! Vollerei had left her familiar jungle behind like she'd meant to months ago. So much has happened that I just never really left... now before the war happens I need to go out and see the world a bit! She thought with a smile as she watched her young Kinfa fly above her. Zweil had learned to fly just a week ago and was beginning to put on a lot of mass. He's no longer my baby, but maybe soon he'll be a mount as well as a friend. Suddenly he squawked excitedly and swooped down off to the side and around a edge of the rolling mountains. She sighed and buried face in her hands, why did he always do this? When he spotted something new or weird he always went off towards it!

Kiyelt hit the tree line almost going face first into the first tree he saw because Iniu chose that moment to swoop down and wrap herself around him yet again. He let out an indignant squawk and caught himself just before he ate bark. "Hey, do you hear that?" He asked. It sounded like he wasn't the only one squawking. He looked up and saw what he supposed was a kinfa, since it fit the descriptions that his parents had given him, he had never seen one for himself. "What is that doing here?" Iniu chirped inquisitively but oddly didn't take off. She stayed glued to him, whether he was supposed to be protecting her or her him he was not sure, the other option was that she didn't see the featherball as a threat. "Wonder where it came from?" He asked no one in particular, "They arn't native are they?" He tried to remember where they were from but couldn't dig it up. So he rested with his palm on the tree and waited.

Vollerei climbed up and over the hill calling out to Zweil, "Get back here feather brain! Stop pestering what ever you found."Zweilcht, though, had no intentions of returning without at least investigating not-mommy figure he'd spotted. He fluttered down onto the tree and hopped over to the new person, chirping and gurgling happily at his discovery. New not-mommies could often be counted on to feed him tasty treats! Did this one have any tasty foods to share? Vollerei spotted him int eh tree looking down at the person below and sighed, muttering to herself "You just ate Zweil! I'm not even hungry yet and you still want to pester people into feeding you...." Maybe she shouldn't have encouraged people to feed him ...

Iniu eyed the bird then eyed Kiyelt. Finally decided she hissed at the thing that wanted Kiyelt's attention. He was hers.. all hers! Kiyelt raised an eyebrow, "Someone's a little jealous I see. Cute Kinfa!" he called the the Alkidike who had come to scold her pet. She was his first Alkidike and it seemed she had trained the Kinfa to be nice and friendly...too bad Iniu didn't see it that way. "I would feed him but I think Iniu would n** me for my insolence." he laughed, anyone who treated their familiars well was alright in his books. He stroked Iniu trying to calm her down, she had never acted this way before, usually having a sweet cuddly personality. "My name is Kiyelt." He added belatedly, he was never that great at introductions.

Vollerei smirked at the ice male's response to Zeweil's appearance and demand for food. Casting an appraising eye over the sailscale she whistled and held out an arm for Zweil to land on. "I'm Vollerei and this is Zweilcht, or Zweil as I often call him. He's eaten already and shouldn't be hungry yet." She smiled and shook her head as she braced her self for Zweil's landing. He was young yes, but had grown quite a bit and it was difficult to carry him for long these days. She didn't introduce Snack, the Maglardilla might be mistaken as food by the sailscale. Side's, he always slept hidden in her bag so not a lot of people noticed him. "Your Iniu should learn that sharing food is a good thing! Nothing insolent about it," she grinned as she put a hand on her large hips. It was quite obvious that Vollerei herself ate a lot and often. "She seems rather clingy."

'She is rather clingy," he said petting her, "But I think it was me that she didn't want to share. I saved her from a mud puddle that would have killed her if I had left her. She was stand offish then until I communicated somehow that I was there to help. Since I got her out, she doesn't let me very far out of her sight." "A pleasure to meet you Vollerei," she was his first Alkidike and he was astounded at their height and general presence. Iniu trilled a greeting at the Alkidike but squinted at the kinfa.

"Mud puddle?" Vollerei laughed, " What a silly way to almost get killed!" Zweil squawked and flapped his wings, wanting a boost into the air. If there was no food here, he would find some! Vollerei tossed him up into the air and turned back with a glimmer in her eye. Now that she'd found an ice person, she wanted to see what types of food they had! Or, if he wasn't willing to share, get information on the beasts and plants that lived here so she could find the tasty stuff herself. "I've never been to Zena before. What types of things are edible here and how do I go about getting fed." Food was one of the more important things to Vollerei and she could be quite blunt about her pursuit of food happiness.

Well we have some truly excellent fish there that is deliscious any way you can get it, they are pretty big so help when catching them is recommended. Vendors sell it salted which is good for long journey's. Some days there are hardy greens in which the new shoots are delectable."

So fish and vegetables; not something new it seemed. She sighed in disappointment. "Sounds like stuff I've eaten all my life. Got anything new or tasty that wouldn't grow in a jungle? I want to taste new foods. Or maybe the way you prepare them is different..." She paused and looked at him, "Can you cook?" Vollerei wanted new foods! She'd come all this way just for it and see wasn't leaving until she found new tasty stuff to fill her stomach with!

"Um, well my mother is more of the cook, I can do camp foods but haven't had much inscentive to learn about the other stuff yet. We may have a spice or two that would be novel for you, the plants have to be pretty hardy up there." He tilted his head. "There is probably a lot more variety in the jungle." "My mom did make cookies before I left, they are the best I have ever found in Zena, here." Kiyelt offered the alkidike one of his mom's sinfully delicious cookies. He couldn't make them yet, but he and his Mom were lucky if any of the dough even made it to the oven to bake. His Dad was a notorious disturber of the peace and that included stealing cookie dough when he sensed it. And his cookie-dar was accurate for a kilometer or too Kiyelt figured, so making cookies while he was in the house was an art not a privelage.

She was slightly disappointed in the lack of cooking knowledge in this boy. How else was she going to get access to tasty foods if she couldn't meet any cooks? But at least there were cookies to make up for it. She split it two to give some to Zweil and ate the rest herself. "Mm, it's good!" She said as it vanished quickly. Perhaps she should go meet this mother of his. Tasty food was worth it! "And we do have a lot of different plants and spices in the jungles. But I've found many different and sometimes better food and taste in other places than home. Whole reason I'm all the way out here in this cold place."

"Really?", he leaned up against a convinient tree. "Anything really delicious? I should keep an eye out when I travel, and would welcome the chance at some divine food myself. What are your favorites out of Jahaur?" He thought a moment more, "Well we do have this spicey onion stew which is really good up North, hearty, just the thing for a cold day. You should definitely try some. Mom would be the best to get it from, she had an alkidike friend once, was terribly fond of her so she is much more open minded then some of the others." This lady looked like she could handle herself but no one really deserved the snide treatment and she was nice enough, he wanted to spare her the whole mess if he could.

"Oh there's lots of delicious things!" Vollerei said with a grin, "I personally prefer a Maglardilla that's been slowly cooked in a sauce of hot spicy peppers and lots of chopped up nuts until the meat's almost liquid. Very filling that! Though I do adore the sweet breads I tasted at the tournament. No clue what they were made of, but I think it was a Wind Tribe lady that made them." The tournament, despite having been beaten on the first round and the announcement of war at the end, had happy memories for Volle. All those delicious new foods! So many different flavors, styles, types! Oh if only she'd had another week there to eat.... " We eat a lot of bugs, fruit, and nuts back home. There's more large insects like Snack here than there are mammals." She pulled her big off and showed her pet Maglardilla to her new friend. "Seems I need to meet your mom. If she can make those tasty cookies and that stew then I'd like to ask her for some recipes! And be fed of course." Vollerei liked anyone who could cook and feed her. Even if they were the worst and meanest person i the land she'd like them if they fed her!

"That sounds wonderful," he said, happily imagining the hot bug dish. Then he did a double take. "You like eating the same creature as your pet? Must be a good Maglardilla then. "Mom likes feeding new people, she gets kind of bored when Dad is not around to pester her. I'm sure she would be delighted to share recipes with you and she likes it when people enjoy their food. She says there is no point in munching on a few leaves all day, and then she says they wonder why they have no energy and are grumpy all the time." "You know I've heard there is a special kind of tree bark that you scrape off and add to baked goods to make a wonderful flavor, maybe mom knows where to find it, you should definitely ask her."
