As Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster launches in Japan on December 26, its companion Ultimania reveals that the games’ scenario writer Kazushige Nojima is interested in a third entry to the Final Fantasy X universe. He also cites fan demand as the key to such a game happening.
“If there’s enough demand, then we may possibly see new developments,” says Nojima in the Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster Ultimania. “I would personally like to see a sequel like X-3.”
For the remaster, Nojima also wrote a 30 minute long audio drama set months after the end of Final Fantasy X-2. His past work with the series include the scenarios for Final Fantasy VII, VIII, XIII, Type-0, and currently Final Fantasy XV.
Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is currently out in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and will release in North America on March 18, 2014 and in Europe on March 21, 2014.
