“Mmm look at the shiny.”
“He’s really cute for a pokemon?”
“I would call him a poke-human?”
“Hmm, still I wouldn’t mind keeping him with me.”
Ignoring the soft commentaries from the females around him Tryce continued to browse through the store. This wasn’t his typical type of place, but the umbreon had found himself wandering in the shopping district and had been charmed by something sparkling in the store’s windows. Ignoring the fact that it was a store selling mostly lady oriented items like perfumes and lotions the dark teen had just calmly walked inside grabbed the item in the window and now after spending minutes tilting the object back and forth in the light had taken it to the cashier.
“Is this all you want?” The soft question by the woman eyeing him made Tryce pause.
“I guess so.” He shrugged awkwardly before reaching out the crumpled bill in his hand. Spending money was so foreign to him, but he figured stealing this item would only result in trouble for him. Not that it would have been hard…but could it still be a gift if stolen? His ears twitched as another item was placed in the bag and he looked at the cashier curiously.
“Oh!” She smiled lightly though her cheeks were flushing brightly, “It’s buy one get one free today. I figured you would want something to finish it like a set or a pair.” Her gaze looked him overly slowly, “In case you had a girl you wanted to give one to like a couple’s gift…”
Tryce just smiled before leaning forward and taking his change, “If that’s what you’re worried about then I guess I’ll just have to wait before gifting it. Can’t be a couple with just one.” Turning away and leaving the store the umbreon just rolled his eyes lightly. Couples gift really? Like he would ever…still he couldn’t help but to pause and take out the object he had just bought. Holding it up in the sunlight he appreciated the gleam of rainbow from the sun catcher. It was shaped just like a mystical sun…he couldn’t help but to appreciate it. A soft snort left him as he looked at the other one. A moon, really? As if it wasn’t cliché enough…honestly he didn’t even know why he had been attracted to the thing. Still it was colorful and bright, girls liked things like that right?
Still he held the bag loosely in his hands before turning away from the stores and heading upwards towards the roofs where he began to roam towards the forest. He would just drop it off at the place he had followed her to. A small ‘thank you for putting up with that trouble’ gift. Nothing more, just something to make up for disturbing her nap that night. That should be enough to get her out of his mind. Silly thing guilt, making him remember dragging her around like that so much.

On her own way to town, Truffles carried a bag of laundry on her back. It wasn't her own laundry though... "Stupid skeleton man. Who does he think I am?" she grumbled. How was she supposed to wash her bosses clothes at home? No matter what she'd said, he had insisted that this was part of her job. So, without any remorse, she'd dumped his clothes into a nearby river's freezing waters for a rinse, and then hung them on barren branches to dry. Of course, she'd forgotten about them, and they'd frozen overnight.
Now, after nearly an hour of chipping and cracking and stomping and hammering against rocks, she'd broken the clothing free of the ice, and had rolled them as well as she could manage. They seemed to weigh a ton still from whatever frozen water remained within the fabric though.
Walking slower than usual provided plenty of time for her mind to wander though. Lately, her thoughts tended to drift toward that dark umbreon. She could still remember being carried to safety by him. She hadn't felt any fear in his arms.... It was the first time anyone had outright protected her. It had brought up something she hadn't felt since before being abandoned...
She shook her head roughly. It was silly to think about him. He'd only helped her because he'd brought the trouble to her! As if she would ever see him again! Adjusting the pack, which was nearly as big as she was, she tried to pick up her pace. Time to get rid of this load.

At ease in the tree, the same way he found himself comfortable on high rooftops, the umbreon was sitting with his legs hanging off of a higher branch. He was resting and giving himself to really think about this idea of his. Should he really bother with a gift for the kid? Tryce made a face as he held the shimmering sun catcher in his hands. It was probably going to be a waste, but he felt bad just leaving without giving her something for that trouble. His gaze softened as a faint breeze rustled through the tree brining life the chimes that hung below the sun. The thing did play a pretty melody, that was what had caught his attention in the first place.
Pulling out the silver and blue moon wind chime he clicked his tongue against his teeth, “So cliché.” Yet he moved his wrist slightly so that those chimes chimed together as well. A small satisfied smile crossed his features as he listened to the noise. If there was one thing in this life he could appreciate truly then it was a pretty melody no matter how simple. Surely it was a decent gift then. He nodded slowly since he had bought it then it was best to just go ahead and give it away whether it was stupid or not.
Wrapping the things back up Tryce let out a small curse as some of the paper flew away from his grasp, “You devil…” Slinging his bag over his shoulder the umbreon gracefully jumped down from his perch and watched as the paper just tumbled away in the air. Looked like a lost cause that one…frowning he turned around to start walking down the road again before he noticed what appeared to be a moving pack. Was it just floating on its own? Nope, Tryce tilted his head and studied the strange image carefully before laughing. There was a kid beneath that luggage! How in the world did it just happen to be her as well? Not doubting his lucky timing the teen jogged to catch up with the figure from the side, “Feeling a bit burdened today are we?”

Truffles was quite lost in her thoughts on how she would get back at skeleton man. Maybe she would let a fish sit in his shoe overnight? Or she could break a window and make it seem like the fault of an angry customer? Or she could plug up the drain in his private bathroom and let the water run! ....Those were all horrible ideas, since she had little doubt that she would end up being ordered to clean it all up. It wasn't worth that hassle...
Shifting the pack on her back, lost in her thoughts of revenge, she didn't notice someone was with her until the voice reached her ears. Eyes widening, she spun to see... it couldn't be... The pack, weighing more than she did, threw her right off balance. She dropped the pack and windmilled her arms, but she only caught a confirming glance at the shiny umbreon teen before her sight was on the branches and blue sky above, her legs propped up on the pack that she'd fallen over. Why did everyone startle her?
One of the benefits of being short was that she didn't have far to fall, plus hardly any weight to hold her down, and she was back on her feet in a flash. She jumped to stand on top of the laundry pack so that she was closer to the teen's eye level; though it didn't help all that much. "What are you doing here? I don't need carrying around today." As much as she huffed, she did so to hide that, maybe, just a little, she was pleased to see him again, and that he was okay. And to cover her surprise at seeing him again at all. Beyond that, nope!

Grinning Tryce just watched in amusement as the eevee tumbled over at his appearance. He really hadn’t been expecting her to fall like that so by the time he had reached out to grab her she was already back on her feet and glaring at him. Always with such spunk and attitude this one. The thought made the umbreon shake his head quietly, “I obviously see that it’s not you who needs ‘carrying’ today.” He nodded towards her pack before shrugging, “But I just happened to be walking this way. I couldn’t help but to try figuring out how this large pack was moving and it turns out a small kid was beneath it.”
The movement of his own small bag sliding down his arm reminded Tryce of the package he was holding onto. Still he didn’t pull it out and rather pushed it back up onto his shoulder, “So are you moving your whole house with you? What is all that junk?” His foot darted forward and gently nudged the pack that she was standing on. It didn’t seem to be so bad, “And can you really move all this?” He kicked it once more hoping to shake her balance a bit. If he could knock her off then that would allow him to have a bit more fun with this situation then.
While he was doing that he couldn’t help but to look her over. She seemed healthy enough and not doing bad then. It was easier to check on her with daylight over them rather than the faint glow of the moon. The memory of their first encounter made him smile faintly before reaching up once more to make certain that his satchel was still balanced well on his shoulder, “As it is I don’t know what to do with my day now with the sun sinking quickly.” As he rambled he innocently looked away before nudging the pack once more with a quick kick.

Ears perking in confusion, it took the child a moment to realize what the umbreon was saying. Snorting, she narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms. "I'm not that small," she retorted halfheartedly. Her brother was the tall one, so she knew well enough how small she was. ...Especially compared to this bean pole standing in front of her! She was still forced to look up at the guy's face, even with the boost of the pack. Ugh...
Easily keeping her balance with the first nudges to the pack, Truffles grunted and looked to the side. "No, it ain't mine. Skeleton man had me- um- fix up a few things for him for the store." She couldn't very well tell the guy she was hauling around laundry! "Of course I can move it! If you hadn't noticed, I was moving it just fine until you show-whoa!" Displaying the rest of her statement, she felt the pack roll out from under her, her shoes catching the fabric enough to be dragged along. She yelped as her upper half lost its support and fell forward. She had just enough contact with the pack to give her body a small, instinctive spin, trying to land on her side rather than on her face. That was all she needed to complete the morning humiliation...

“Uh-huh, “ Tryce nodded slowly before knocking a bit of bark from his arm. He seemed only semi-interested in what she was saying, a good ruse, until she mentioned the ‘skeleton’ man. Was this her boss then? His nose wrinkled in distaste at the thought of the kid working in that place, “Surely he could have taken care of something like this instead of leaving it in the care of someone that can easily be engulfed.” His golden gaze darkened with indecision. Really this kid was so worrisome for him, working in that part of the city and always having the weirdest tasks…
As she fell Tryce slipped between her and the ground and with one hand grabbed the eevee right before she connected with the ground and the other lifting the big pack over his shoulder. Frowning the umbreon shifted the load up a bit and paused thoughtfully. It smelled and felt damp. What exactly was she doing for the store with something like this? Still he didn’t question it as he handed her the small bag that he had been carrying, “Don’t snoop into it, but we’ll trade.” Letting go of her arm the male started forward in the direction she had been headed into. He knew where to head, that part of town was a frequent spot of troubles for him after all.
Pausing he glanced back over his shoulder and smiled, “Well hurry up if you’re coming still kid.”

With eyes squeezed shut, Truffles didn't know what to think of suddenly being pulled to the side rather than smacking into the ground. She blinked in surprise as she was put back onto her feet, looking up at the male curiously. That had been a fast reaction... Huffing, she crossed her arms and glared to the side. "Thanks," she murmured, quite miffed that he'd had to catch her.
She turned to reach for the bag, and spun back toward the male. Naturally, she opened her mouth to object, but paused as a smaller bag was shoved at her to carry. "Well, if you insist on following me everywhere, you might as well make yourself useful," she said, taking the little bag and turning toward town. She looked down at her new package curiously. This weighed hardly anything. The slightest shake brought out the rustle of paper, and possibly clinking metal, but she wasn't sure.
Looking up, she gasped and hurried after the teen. "Don't lose that bag," she scolded, shaking her head. "What're you carryin' it for, anyway? Your bag's lighter." She held it up for emphasis, though was more inspecting the shape of it for a hint of what was inside.

“Of course.” Tryce smirked down at the kid before rearranging the bag on his shoulders. What a heavy pack for someone like her to be carrying. Looking away from her his expression shifted into a rather thoughtful frown. This seemed to be like a messy business that she was involved in. His ears tipped back in aggravation. Who would force a kid to do such things? The fact that she had actually managed to make it this far with this luggage was slightly impressive for him. Then again he shouldn’t be surprised to see such stubborn strength from the eevee. He had witnessed enough of that from their last encounter.
As she walked next to him Tryce raised an eyebrow, “Alright then. Just lead the way little miss.” Glancing back at her he watched as she inspected the package. Was this Christmas with her trying to place what was inside by shaking it? His tail twitched in amusement at the thought of how she would react to know that what she was carrying was actually partially a gift for her. We’ll see if I actually give it to her then.
Pausing so that she could catch up with him the umbreon nodded, “Of course I’ll make certain to keep a good hold on it.” At her question he just shrugged, “Perhaps I was just bored? Plus I realized it might save someone a heart attack to see an actual person beneath the bag instead of wondering how it is floating through town.” His golden gaze gleamed as he noticed her curiosity and in a teasing way Tryce started to take his normal long strides quickly as he headed down the path he remembered that shop being on. “You heading towards that trashy place again then, kid?”

Oblivious to the male's irritation about her position at the shop, Truffles was looking quite intently at the bag she was now holding. It wasn't very big. So light... What could it be?
Slowly, she looked up to the shiny umbreon, eyes narrowing. "The only heart attacks will come from people seeing your face," she grouched. "And I ain't 'little miss,' so don't call me that." Her brow rose as she realized she was falling behind, and had to step up her pace to keep up with the long-legged teen. She gave him a glare for calling her workplace trashy... but she couldn't deny that he was right. "Yup. Did what needed doing for that load, so back it goes."
Enough about work! "So, where ya taking this thing?" She held up the bag again, switching between inspecting the bag and making sure she was keeping up.

“It’s cursed.” Whispered Tryce teasingly as he noticed her looking at the bag once more, “If you open it you’ll be unlucky for weeks, so you might want to just carry it and stop trying to stare through it.” Still looking sincere he stared a moment longer before turning away from her and continuing. At her grouching he just smiled calmly, “I can’t help it that my good looks can be stunning.”
Shaking his head at her the umbreon continued, “And so would you prefer kid? Or how about tiny miss? Shortie?” His tail twitching in faint amusement Tryce turned to look at her while still walking the path, “I don’t know what to call you really.” Not that he was too bothered by it. Finding new names to bother her with was entertaining, “I feel like I might be carrying something illegal.” He raised an eyebrow and looked at the eevee, “You working for some trafficking business is that what this is? They need to work on their secrecy. Carrying something like this really isn’t discreet at all.”
“I’m taking it to a safe place, “Replied Tryce vaguely, “It’s cursed unless given to the right person. Then it might be luck for them, but still until it gets to that person you better not open it. You’ll be horribly unfortunate for the rest of your days~”

Ears twitching, Truffles gave the umbreon a suspicious look. Cursed? Yeah, right.... but, it would be just like this weird guy, to be carrying around a cursed object.
Her eyebrow twitched in irritation. "Shut up!" She huffed and pouted, arms crossed and eyes forward. Still... "My name's Truffles. Not Little Truffles. Not Short Truffles. It's Truffles." She looked at the bag, and snorted. "It might as well be illegal, but it ain't, so don't worry your shiny head about it."
Her violet eyes slid to the package she held again. What if he was telling the truth...? "You're so full of it," she huffed, though the beg remained closed at her side. "Not sure how much worse things can get, though," she mumbled softly to herself, kicking a stone as she passed it. "Who ya giving it to?"

Not losing a step Tryce only looked back at the eevee. Well she definitely reacted as expected, “That ruins the fun then.” He smiled before looking forward again, “Truffles…hmm.” So that was her name…he finally knew it. Tryce smirked at the fact he had finally pushed it out of her. It might have been simple to ask, but there was no fun in that. “Tryce.” He commented suddenly, not even explaining the meaning behind it. If she took it as his name then that was fine. Not many knew this name, his actual name, and the guy was used to being called Ace already. Mostly it was known with those groups he really pissed off as the Dark Ace. Better to tell her his real name then just in case she ever spoke about him to anyone. That would keep her safer.
“Oh?” He bounced the bag on his shoulders, “Good thing we’re close then so we can discard the evidence and get on with our way.” His gaze narrowed as he led Truffles through a less used entrance to the side of town which would lead towards that place she worked at. Everything from each and every broken bottle or board was familiar to him. Though in the daytime it was slightly different, but the shadows of the alley stayed the same.
“Who am I giving it to?” Tryce laughed quietly as he walked past some more broken boxes and trash towards the daylight of an open street, “That might just be a secret, kid.”

Surprised from the lack of some odd comment about her name, Truffles felt herself relax a little. Then... "Tryce? ...What's a Tryce?"
Sighing, her ears slumped a bit, glaring over at the decrepit state of this side of the town. "Nope. You go on your way. I gotta stay there to work 'til evening." She wanted to see where this guy was taking the cursed object!
"Might be, but it might not be. I won't tell anyone!"

Laughing softly at her question Tryce glanced towards Truffles a slow grin spreading over his features, “An amazing thing really. A Tryce is unique and handsome with many skills and hobbies…A Tryce is also the one carrying your bag for you.” Shifting the said object he kept hold of it instead of giving into the temptation to just chuck it into the woods somewhere. He really couldn’t figure out why it was bothering him so much to think of this kid working in such a place. Was it because he had seen what could happen before? His expression flickered before he shrugged. It wasn’t his life so he should just leave it be.
Yet why was he here now then?
Shaking his head at her refusal the umbreon sighed, “Guess you’ll never know then. I’ll just leave this decision up to you.” As it was he turned the corner and faced the dreaded space, “Here we are.” Tossing the bag he watched as it bounced against the door, “Trade.” He reached out his hand for his bag, a gleam of amusement in his gaze, “And if it was a secret then that means it’s a secret…maybe some time you can convince me otherwise. To just tell you would be too easy..” He smiled evilly, "There's no fun in that after all."
