one over three Ranger followed the path through the forest, trying his hardest to watch both the ground beneath his feet and the branches over head at once. There had been an ice storm the night before and it had coated everything with a thin layer of ice. The rugged path was manageable, so long as he avoided any of the smoother rocks, but the trees up above were all creaking under the added weight. Already he'd spotted a few which had succumbed to the storm, and he wanted most of all to escape the forest before another tree succumbed right onto his head.
one over three A loud crack sent Ranger into a panic. His hoofs clattered on the hard ground as he tried to escape the avalanche of snow and branches which was undoubtedly about to crash down right on top of him. It was only after he nearly wiped out and had to calm himself just to get his footing back that he realized the sound hadn't been anywhere near him.
"Heh..." he muttered, as he lifted his head to look around. It didn't seem like anyone had been around to see that. Which was good. That was a moment he didn't really feel like explaining to anyone.
Cypran Cecilia's hooves crunched in the snow. It had been a while since she'd found herself near mountains, having preferred the riverside till now. She shook the snow out of her wings and walked on, preferring trudging through the snow to flight at present. In the distance, the rumbling of moving drifts was audible but Cecilia ignored it, trotting up a slope to get a look around from the top of a hill. From there, she spotted the source of the rancor an an indiscernible shape moving around some ways away. one over three As Ranger looked up at the trees again he caught a glimpse of what might be the silhouette of someone else hidden amongst the trees on a distant hill. He shook his head, then tried to refocus. No, just shadows. Probably just shadows.
He turned his attention back to the path, trying to pick out any place where the soft foliage was still sticking out of the ice. The edge of the forest wasn't too far off, hopefully the ground out in the open would be getting more sun than this forest path was. Cypran Cecilia snorted lightly, almost a sigh, and took off from the hillock. As she approached the figure and blinked the cold wind from her eyes it became apparent that it was a grey stallion, almost the colour of stone if it weren't for his teal hair. She landed a few yards away and tilted her head. The landing wasn't particularly quiet, and she waited for the stallion to notice her arrival. one over three Already in a super anxious state, he took the sound of hooves touching down on hard ground as a sign that another branch was getting ready to snap. He started off at a trot, each foot sliding as it pushed off and keeping him in place. After a few steps he clued into that fact, and took a deep, calming breath.
"Really! The chances of being under a branch right when it falls are slim," he slid forward a bit as he tried to stop and regain his footing. "I would probably be better off walking in the-" He heard another small noise, and raised his head to look. There, right in front of him, stood a lovely grey mare.
"Uh, hello?"
Cypran "You're scared pretty easily there," Cecilia commented, in a good humored tone. She grinned a little, making her way over to inspect the stallion at close quarters, her long tail swatting at the occasional snow drift. "Are you lost?" She inspected him and gave herself a measure of reassurance by his plain looks. Harmless, even, at least compared to the horses she'd had dealings with before.

"Listen, stranger," he frowned. "I'm sure it's all well and good being able to fly up over the trees if you so feel like it, but down here on the ground it's a touch dangerous at the moment. You might excuse a fellow for being concerned about his safety with branches and whole trees coming down throughout the forest. And if you would remove yourself from the path, I would very much like to continue on my way out of this creaking grave."

Cecilia frowned at the stallion, but obliged by moving off to the side a little. "No need to be so sour, there." She kicked at the snow. It would be tiring to walk in for long but she had the constant reassurance that if her legs got tired she could fly, so she supposed his frustration was warranted. Considering what she'd heard, landslides and a long trail of plowed snow, she'd be loathe to stuck here.

He sighed, trying his hardest to swallow his frustration and be civil with her. It wasn't as though she meant him harm. She obviously didn't even realize what sort of situation he was in.
"I'm sorry, mam," he said, shaking his head as if trying to clear it. "Thanks for moving aside. Met a few folks over the years who would have held their ground out of spite with that tone I was using." He started heading along again, glancing back to see if she was following.
"It's really in your best interest to fly straight up and out of here. As frustrated as I was I wasn't lying to you that the path up and over is the safest course." Something creaked, and Ranger topped, ears flicking about as he tried to predict which branch or tree might come down next. Fortunately, this time it was just another load of snow falling off a tree to the side of the path. The branch it had been resting on bowed, then snapped back up into place, shaking more snow from the rest of the tree.
Ranger shook his head again, "If only you could scold a forest..."

"I can fly out at any time. Let me help you out, I could try to find you an easier route to where-ever you're headed," Ceci offered this with curtosey, not pity. This stallion seemed the sort to be somewhat prideful and offending never ended well. She walked slowly after him, keeping distance but within earshot. She glanced around at the snow, trying to make sure he didn't plow into another drift and find himself pummeled by snow. "I'm Cecilia, by the way."
