~The Hidden Estate of Kyouji Kuzunoha~

Despite the name, the home is little more than a single-story house nestled carefully amidst the hills on the outskirts of the Inaba territory; wide but plain, there is an indoor dojo for training in the art of combat and subterfuge, a small dining area fit for only a few, and a single, large room with several straw futons laid out in a circle for she and any apprentices which spend more than the day in her company...which is a rare occurrence at best. The house is well hidden, the trees and roads leading up to it lined with enchanted talismans meant to misguide enemies from finding her while guiding those whom she wishes to enter.

Outside the small house is a wide courtyard perfect for fighting, training, and training in the art of summoning devils. The surrounding forested area provides a training ground for subterfuge and espionage techniques. From the treetops one can look down into the town of Inaba and see all that lays below, though there has rarely been much to see. This is just one of many similar hideouts across the country for the most subtle of the Four Great Summoners...

...And beneath the home, in a secret basement to which only Kyouji has the key, are scrolls, documents, and tools of the summoner's trade. It would be a treasure trove of information for anyone who wished to know the nature of the Yatagarasu and the ways of this particular Great Summoner. But even if one did know of its location, without the key, the items would be beyond recovery for anyone...even through means of force.

...One does not earn the name of Kyouji without learning something about how to counter espionage as well.

Kanade Tachibana and Jo(shu) Michieru
It had been a long night. So very long...and yet, it wasn't quite over. Many hours passed in the shrine, and as he'd left, the day was gone. He'd moved back to Inaba for a bit, enough to say his apologies to WYNN, and to pick up..a friend.
"Where are we going, Michieru?" Kanade's voice called, as she hugged up against him. They were riding along on a new steam-bikes...And while they both could have drove, this was saved some water.
I'll never figure that out.. she thought to herself, as they drove up on the outskirts of Inaba...

"To see a friend." he called lightly as they pulled up, and he got off his bike. He didn't know if the others had people to tend to, or if they were doing something sane.
Sleep? Nahhh.. he called to himself as he got off the bike, holding out a hand for Kanade as they got off the bike. They started along, over to teh door of the House at this, as he knocked a few Rhythmic knocks. He couldn't tell if she was already home from dealing with Kai's Kageboushi, or if she was still busy....Still, better to be polite than not.

"A friend?" Kanade called, moving to his side as she glanced around. "Who lives out here?"
"You'll see."

Red
And as the two came up, another figure walked up, a small yellow demon under his hat.
"Hey there." Red called to the pair, lifting his hat. He paused at the newcomer, before giving her an easy smile.
"Name's Red." he called quickly, not recognizing the girl right off the top of his head....Though, he'd heard about some special people in the Yatagarasu......Those that weren't quite summoners.....But assisted...
He'd been surprised at seeing not one, or even just two, but Three of the legendary Kuzunoha, all in one day..in one area. And it was...interesting, seeing Geirin's distaste for Raidou....
Oh wait..isn't it..Ciela now? he thought to himself, as the tiny demon hopped down, and extended a little hand at the two.
"Nice to meetcha."

Kyouji Kuzunoha X, Great Summoner of the Yatagarasu
"What's honorable is all a matter of perspective...I just do what's necessary."

Well, that escalated quickly...

One second the trio of Great Summoners were watching their apprentices struggle against a Kageboushi of Kai, each of them hoping they were up to the task so that they wouldn't have to dirty their hands against that kind of a twisted fiend...and the next the entire shrine had been evacuated save for herself and the smirking b*****d, her long, long day ending in a fashion that even a Kuzunoha couldn't help but want to complain about. Frankly, she was exhausted...but mornings like this and days like the one before weren't all that uncommon for those who bore the name of Kuzunoha. Aiding in the takedown of the Queen of Bel, training her students around the school, beating up the shadowy incarnation of another, more powerful Great Summoner and then sealing it inside of the Abandoned Shrine before finally making it home some time in the wee hours of the morning...only to need to awaken early the next morning to greet and talk to her apprentices about the events of the night before and the future of their organization...? But for her, it was only 'Thursday'...or, something like that. Days kind of ran together, and...she winced a bit as she stretched her long back, light chocolate skin marred with tiny scars and scratches here and there as she stood from her own thin futon with little more to cover her than a thin layer of bandages around the chest and bottoms...she had never gotten used to sleeping on a bed, so even in her own home filled with small bunks for the kids and other summoners who came to visit, she slept on the thin mat on the floor, herself. All the time she seemed impenetrable, imperturbable, cool...but as Kyouji Kuzunoha the Tenth stood from her mat and glanced at the hanger next to her bed for the cloak and clothes she normally wore, anyone who could have seen her just then might have seen...for the first time...the true form of the mysterious Assassin of the Crows.

She was perhaps slightly tall for a woman, but she was remarkably thin despite her toned muscles. She looked almost...frail without her cloak and outfit...nothing at all like one might expect of one of the supreme protectors of the entire country and the intimidating reputation that befitted the name Kyouji. Her eyes seemed quiet, calm...if a little exhausted as bare feet padded along the wooden floor towards the hook with her outfit, and in the dim light that crept through the windows the dozens of scars and nicks that lined her beautifully tanned skin seemed to shimmer against the backdrop, laying bare the awful price that was paid to stand amongst the best of the best and put your life and your spirit between evil and the land that you loved. She never complained, never lost her cool in front of her apprentices, and she always got the job done. But to simply see the way that what must have once been a lithe, lovely body marred so indelibly by the work that she had dedicated herself to would make even her closest of follower wonder...was her job really worth the price she paid? Didn't she want anything...more than this isolated life? One might wonder...but as for her, she said nothing, drawing her pants slowly over her long legs, gingerly avoiding the wrappings on one hand and a patch of bandage over her left thigh...remnants of the fight the night before. She let out a breath as she heard voices outside and pulled on her shirt, buttoning carefully over her wrapped chest and then with a flourish, pulled her hood carefully over her shoulders and shrugged them once, rolling out a kink that had formed in the muscle.

Her apprentices were here now, and kids like that needed to see her confident, powerful...the playful master that they had always known. And it was a bit of fun to play the role that they knew her to possess, for the most part. Somewhere in her heart she might wish for a stronger connection than the one she had with each of them now, but for the most part, she knew...this was what they needed. And that was the most important thing. A deep breath filled her lungs; sliding into her boots, she walked silently towards the front of the estate and in a flash of shadow she was gone from the inside...and when her apprentices sensed the shift in the shadows they would look up and see her silhouette blocking out a bit of the morning sunlight, resting casually seated atop the roof at the front of her home, an apple resting leisurely within her hand as she watched them with the smallest hint of amusement in her expression.

"Hello, Red. And Shu, my very first apprentice...I'm glad you decided to accept my offer and bring your friend to see me," she smirked as she tossed the apple into the air, catching it...and in a flash like a magic trick it was replaced with a little, shimmering crystal...the Atma Core...the prism reflecting the light from the sun brilliantly as she smiled down at the newcomer, Kanade, offering as warm a welcome as she was entitled to, "Things got a little crazy today, so we've got a lot to settle while you're here. The Crows are changing...and we've got a lot of work to do together if we're all going to catch up."

Mir

Mir yawned widely - despite years of work, she'd never truly been a morning person, and was far happier to simply sleep in the warm light of the sun and enjoy the hours ticking by. It was a luxury she hadn't gotten to indulge in very often, but the desire for some of the simple comforts in life had never really left her. Especially when she was a bit vexed - if Geirin didn't stop being disagreeable soon, she was going to have to pound some sense into him and get him to behave in a way that was at least minimally appropriate for his position. On the other hand, seeing him throw a fit in front of everybody had been hilarious, so maybe she'd forgive it this time. She sat down in front of a mirror a moment later, using a brush and making measured strokes through her long hair to get it into the right condition for the day. The job was often rough, but that was no excuse for not trying to appear her best, even if she didn't need to go wild quite as frequently.

Once she was finally done with that, Mir calmly slid into her suit, the familiar material snug and comfortable. A light tap ensured that each of her Tubes were properly in place, too, and she carefully examined each of her weapons before sliding them into place. A Summoner had many tools, and it was important to be sure they were all in good condition. She'd have to show the newbie to the vaults once they got around to picking them, too... but that was something for a later point in time. Mir spun around before a mirror, examining herself, then picked up her cloak and settled it over her shoulders, concealing all that she carried beneath it. She walked out of the room a moment later, quite ready to face the day, and her steps were light and even as she strode out into the morning... and the small gathering of other Summoners. An interesting lot - and she could have hoped for more, but that would probably be true no matter what.

Once she was out with the others, Mir quietly relaxed against one of the supports of the house, watching Kyouji's interaction with the others. She trusted her fellow Kuzunoha's opinions, after all, and Kyouji's words would likely have a great impact on the future. For now, though, she was content to observe them with her own eyes and see how far along they'd come.

Kanade Tachibana and Jo(shu) Michieru
Jo(shu) let out an easy smile as a familiar figure started out..Along with another friend.
"Kanade, Red. Red, Kanade." Jo(shu) called, as his master decided to drop in...and seemed to procure some lovely crystal that she offered.
"Kanade, this is my Summoning Teacher, Kyouji Kuzunoha the tenth." he added, gesturing. "She's what made me what I am into today."
The other comment didn't escape his ears without notice, as he turned.
"The Crows are..changing?" he called, hearing her talk about how they had a lot to settle...And that they had a lot of work ahead of them, if they were going to catch up.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, Sensei."

Kanade paused a bit as the voices called out to her, both a stranger garbed in red..and the mysterious, cloaked woman....Though, as Raidou appeared, she laxxed a bit...and once more, as she was addressed by the mysterious woman....Who was introduced as Jo(shu)'s master...And..the crystal in her hand..
It's...one of those. she thought, recognizing the core. Her own body seemed to pause at this, as she gently held her arms out, bowing her head.
"Th...Thank you.." she said to the woman, in appreciation. Her body yearned...Hungered for the core....in a way that she couldn't satiate with curry......
She held her arms quietly as important things were being discussed, though she did turn as the red garbed individual was introduced as....
"H..Hello Red." she called, a bit confused at how his name was also a prominent color..Though as the little demon moved forward, she let out an easy smile, and bent down on her knees, taking it's tiny hand between two of her fingers.
"Nice to meet you..Little one." she cooed at the perky, cute demon. It was...lovely..

Red
Red gave a nice smile as he was introduced to the silver-haired girl, along with the appearance of Kyouji the Tenth. He took his hat off again, and bent down to bow.
"Lady Kyouji.." he called, respectfully. "Lady...Ciela, was it?"
The raven-colored haired Summoner coming out of the room didn't escape his eagle eye either...and she was to be treated with equal respect, in his eyes. "I am honored to be graced with your presence.."
Okay, maybe he was brought up a little Too proper, but that wasn't always a bad thing. He smirked as Sparky took the girl's hand and shook it as vigorously as it's hands could muster, with a pleased cry.
He did have to pause as Kyouji mentioned Jo(shu) as her first apprentice.
Whoops....glad I never said anything bad to him. he thought lightly, pulling his hat down in a bit of embarrassment in his mistake. If this one was her first apprentice.....
Well, can't change the past. he thought with a chuckle, as Kyouji talked of how the Crows were changing.....
"We will." he called quietly, as he held his hat. "I'm Red, in case you didn't know. I may not have a master, but I'm willing to help..And to Learn, as the case may be."
He was simple..proud..And, thanks to the events prior..he felt a bit braver. He'd confronted his own fears head on.....Though, even if it wasn't an actual shadow, he still felt a small sense of accomplishment at having held his ground with the others.
I hope Geirin isn't too mad still...

"Haaaaa~ Good morning masters~..." Asuka yawned sleepily as she pulled herself out of bed, also having stayed the night at her Master's home.
She was awake quickly and before long had changed her clothes and tied up her hair, she joined Kiyoji outside in time to see the other three arrive, though her eyes seemed to brighten considerably seeing that Shu had brought Kanade, "Kana!" Asuka cooed happily, having been quite some time since she had seen her comrade, and she was glad to see she was alright.
She heard Kiyoji start speaking, her demeanor turned more serious. "I'm prepared to do whatever needs to be done, Master."

Kyouji Kuzunoha X, Great Summoner of the Yatagarasu
"What's honorable is all a matter of perspective...I just do what's necessary."

Nearly everyone was here; only the most recent of the Apprentices to the Great Summoners had yet to arrive. He had his own problems that he still had to settle, of course, and Kyouji had no doubt that he would be here eventually. Still, they didn't have the time to waste at the moment; the mentor hadn't been joking when she'd told her students that the Crows were changing. It was likely that they didn't even realize just how much. By the end of the day...this day...things were going to look a lot different at the top of their ranks than they had for some time now. It had already begun with the dark-haired Great Summoner's acquiescence to the suggestion of her superiors that she restore the ranks of the Kuzunoha to Four, that she inherit some new secrets from the heads of the Clan and create the foundation of a new line of Great Summoner to replace what had been forever lost in the hands of the last Ichirou. Now, there were decision that had to be made amongst those summoners with the potential for greatness that remained within their ranks. The last great talent of the Kuzunoha Village after Raidou, an eccentric named Nito, was already gone from the village on some self-designed crusade to restore the ranks of the Kuzunoha of his own volition...but the Crows were never ones to allow that sort of self-aware, personal appointment and action. They preferred the sort of agents who followed orders and knew their place in the world, that remained beholden to tradition, and it was with that in mind that Kyouji knew...any hope of entrusting the wayward 'Jakken' with the real title of a Kuzunoha was currently impossible. And that meant...she, more than anyone else, had a decision to make right now. No one had spent more time watching these summoners, even when they hadn't known she was there. No one had spent more time developing summoners, training them, or even creating them from a curious App-User into something powerful...something that could protect the Land of the Rising Sun with their own strength.

The time had come...and she felt the weight of her station as much now as she ever had. All of the effort and scars of her duties until now, eighteen years now dedicated to the protection of this country...and this could end up being the most important moment of all her time as or in becoming the woman named 'Kyouji'.

"Every one of you is here for a reason," Kyouji told them calmly, letting her legs dangle easily over the edge of the estate's rooftop before descending suddenly and sharply, landing smoothly on her feet and in-stride, moving towards the line of gathered faces until she stood close before them, her eyes laid plain for each and every one of them to see the care and the severity in them. It was strange for a member of her line to train a group of apprentices...to be so closely involved in the affairs of their organization as a whole. It was strange that she had fallen into this, or rather, that her curiosities had brought her so deeply into the heart of such a crucial moment. It was strange...but she hadn't a regret in the world at the decision she had made. Her apprentices had given an otherwise dark, lonesome sort of job and existence the amusement and lighter purpose that she had never really hoped to find in the life of one 'Kyouji'. To the man and/or woman, they were irreplaceable. And as she walked from one end of the line to another, she sized each of the newly-assembled hope for the future of the Crows and paused before one after another in-turn. Pomp and circumstance wasn't really her thing; she hoped that her taking the time to engage in a little...unusual as it was for her...would catch their attention a little more.

"Kanade," Kyouji smiled faintly a** he paused before the slight girl, the gem within her fingers glimmering again with the light creeping through the prism. The summoner's gaze revealed that she knew much more of the atma-user than she likely knew of Kyouji herself, but there was nothing intimidating in the expression. She was already a friend of the former Raidou...that was all the assassin needed to know. "I want you to have this," taking the girl's hand gently in her own, she unfolded it and placed the Atma Core in the center, folding her fingertips back over it to officially make it Kanade's own, "You might not be a summoner, but you're one of our own...a friend. If you're ever in danger, or if the whim strikes you, you're welcome to visit here." Her hands retracted from Kanade's and a small nod punctuated the thought before she moved down the line and paused before the next in line, appraising him fondly for a moment before continuing on.

"You might not have a master yet, Red...but there are plenty of bunks inside for anyone with the spirit to be the Very Best," she smirked, holding an empty palm up before the hat-clad summoner...and then like a magic trick, there was an apple in her hand...a moment later, the apple was a silver tube, extending out towards the newer member of their assembled alliance...a gift from a master whose life already had been spent amongst this life into which they were only now becoming acquainted, "What's happening out there right now is changing the face of our country. What's happening here, today...it's going to decide whether or not we can protect what we hold precious. And we...Ciela, Geirin, and I...are going to need the help of a summoner who can stand up to the types of monsters you fought last night." Her finger extended as Red's hands closed around the tube, stretching the short distance between them and poking directly between his eyes, as if to drive the point home that he...yes Red...was amongst the important members of their group. As well as her own belief in him...and with that she moved on, pacing back the other way until she stood in front of Asuka, the former apprentice of the former Raidou; times had a funny way of changing one's circumstances. Asuka had already proven the sort who could rebound and endure...an important trait for anyone who might one day be called 'Kuzunoha'.

"I'm not sure there's anyone who understands what is required of a Great Summoner...apart from those who already are one...than you. I've never had any doubt you'd do what needed done," the violet-haired summoner's hand settled atop Asuka's head, ruffling the hair faintly, strong fingers petting there just once before dropping to the shoulder...the other hand producing a silver tube between the two of them, "Asuka, you're stronger than you think...and your perception is as sharp as anyone. Take this demon...talk with it. It won't want to listen to you at first, but make it understand you...convince it of your sincerity. If you can earn it's trust...it will become an ally worth of the Kuzunoha name." With an easy smirk, Kyouji turned to move off...but after a beat she turned back and leaned close into Asuka's shoulder, whispering quietly enough that only she would hear. "You did well yesterday at the Shrine, Asuka," she added quickly, "I'm proud of you." Her fingers passed over the girl's hair one more time before she moved on, stopping at last before the only person left who had yet to be addressed amongst the non-Kuzunoha standing about. Her oldest apprentice...the one who had set this whole crazy enterprise in motion.

"Jo(Shu) Michieru...the Charmed King. Is there anything else I can say that I haven't beaten into your head by now?" the Great Summoner smirked proudly as she placed a hand on his shoulder for a moment, feeling with her own senses the power that grew inside of him with every passing day, "Much as it kills me to say it...as a summoner, I'd say you're far more talented than I am. Well, no...it doesn't really kill me to say it. I guess what you'd call it is...pride? I must have an eye for skill, to have picked you out of everyone in that town. There are still some skills I need to teach you, but I'd say that as far as commanding the loyalty of your devils goes...there's really nothing left for you to learn from me." Her hand raised from his shoulder and her palm pressed against his cheek, an uncommonly intimate gesture from a summoner whose tradition was isolation, detachment. His hair was rough and unkempt, brushing against the backs of her scarred fingers as she held it there for a moment...and hands made for killing seemed remarkably gentle...until the moment passed, and he found his head relieved of the touch. His master was moving slowly back to the center of the line and back a few steps, creating a space in the clearing between her and each of the four gathered.

Her eyes settled on each of them as her cloak fluttered in a weak morning breeze; from within the black cloth her hand produced a handful of gemstones, extended in offering to the students before her.

"Now then...Shu, Red, Asuka...these are gemstones; if you take them to Dr. Viktor in the back room of the metallurgist in town he can upgrade your weapon for you. Choose the one that suits you," she explained with a renewed purpose and confidence, much of the intimacy of their moments a few seconds earlier already lost in the restored importance of the moment, "Kanade, if you don't mind, I'd like for you to join Ciela in the doorway. As for the rest of you...get ready. I told you the Crows were changing. And it starts now..." She waited patiently for each of them to claim their stone before continuing...fingers scooping her black hood from her neck and pulling it over her head, violet hair and warm eyes disappearing as she stood before them...a gravity surrounding her all of a sudden that was both powerful and intimidating.

"Today, each of you is going to take a Final Exam. Asuka, Red...Shu," the Great Summoner commanded, "Your task is simple...defeat me. By any means necessary..."

Asuka couldn't hid her smile, nor just a little bit of her pride as her master spoke to her, though she'd admit, hearing Kiyoji's final comment gave her goosebumps, she accepted the demon tube and the gemstones.

Though as soon as Kiyoji commented on the change, Asuka already had a feeling of what was about to happen, and as the great summoner concluded, her feeling was all but confirmed. Asuka immediately crouched and drew her sword, swirls of wind starting to circle her arms, also "I said I'd do whatever needed to be done, and if this is it, then so be it." Her tone was serious, she was going to give Kiyoji everything she had. She took a tube from her belt and summoned Corielisa. Who, sensing her summoner's intentions, launched an attack toward Kiyoji. Asuka herself rushed in simultaneously, attacking with her blade. "Here I go!"
A serious start, to be sure, but Asuka knew, if she didn't fight with lethality, she'd never be able to defeat her master.

Kanade Tachibana and Jo(shu) Michieru
Kanade stood at attention as Kyouji approached her, gently giving her the small crystal. While she didn't know about her very well...there was some kind of quiet..peaceful kindness behind her words. For someone rumored as a cold, unfeeling assassin....She was surprisingly gentle when she needed to be. The girl bowed her head lightly, smiling.
"Th..thank you." she mouthed, following her orders after she was talking to the others. She was..a Kind mentor, for sure, the way she spoke to her students...And as she moved over to Ciela's side, she gave a small wave to the others, as if saying 'Do your best'.
She felt bad for not speaking to Asuka for a while, and though she wanted to speak to her, they had a test....
A dangerous one...At that....

Jo(shu) felt lightly aflush as Kyouji came to him, praising his skill...And lightly remarking on how she rhetorically asked if there was anything to say between them. There...There wasn't anything he could think of at that. Their time together had been quite an experience...She'd made him into what he was now...All of her help in becoming the Charmed King.....
"You always have been the best Teacher I've ever had." he added as she complimented the sheer loyalty his demons had for him. He felt a bit of pride unlike anything else welling up in him...
After he recovered, she held out the gems to him, and he moved forth, grabbing two in particular. A Turquoise, and an Emerald. However, as she spoke....he braced himself. Their..Final Exam....
He paused for the lightest of Moments, before taking a stance, holding out a small Renki-Dama, and flourishing his cape...Though, more prominently, a certain shirt under it seemed to shine out. His Card Case felt heavy in his jacket...but he could tell...she was serious.
If it meant proving his strength to her, he'd have to give it everything he had...And even if the others were a bit shaky, he'd have to show them that she could handle it. A certain Brown haired Demon appeared in a flash, spinning her Staff. His first, and most Trusted Summon...
"Let's do this." he called, before starting to swing at his master with the blade, as Asuka also joined in.
Good to know she isn't holding back either. he thought, as his cape shone a bright Brown, Earthly Energy starting to course through his blade....before a Surge of Energy started to fill Shu, working to make his strike that much faster, and truer, as well as reinforce his toughness. They'd likely have to work together to be able to handle her, and if there was anything that Jo(shu) and his charmers could do well, it was that.
Working together.

Red stood quietly as Kyouji spoke to them, presenting him with a new tube, and summon of grand power. He took it with a bow, grateful for the generosity of the Kuzunoha, and her kind words. She had extended to him an offering to camp out there...And a little quip. He chuckled, before their mission was made clear. They had to...
"De..Defeat you?" he paused, a bit out of it...before her other apprentices started towards her, ready to fight. He pulled down on his hat, as if turning into summoner mode.....
"Sparky...Let's do it." he called, before the little demon gave off a fierce yowl. He braced himself, clenching his fists as sparky let out a surge of electrical energy...Though, focused for something other than direct offense. He was working to support them at the moment more than stand out...But as he flexed his hands, he was preparing himself...He'd have to work hard to prove himself this time, and as she'd move, he'd start forward with a punch of his own, focusing his energy into his gloves.

Mir

Mir smiled as Kyouji announced another test for the students. What most of them were probably starting to realize was the amount they could actually learn through even the briefest of spars with a member of the Great Summoners of the Kuzunoha. When (and how) to summon Demons, how to mix abilities together... how to think outside of the box, and above all, how to achieve their goals, no matter what sorts of trials they faced. Many things were expected of a Summoner who chose to serve the Yatagarasu, but one thing that was important to realize was that agents often had great freedom to choose their own methods as long as the end result was good and collateral damage was kept reasonably low. It allowed talents to be nurtured, enhanced... to allow each and every one of them to reach the full potential of their skills in a way that actually worked.

Shortly after the fight began, Raiho waddled out of the house, with a tub of popcorn nearly as big as he was carried in his icy hands. The little demon sat down and started eating a moment later, looking highly amused - and Mir simply grinned. There were times to be serious, yes, but it was easy to lose sight of your goals if you were too uptight. Sometimes a break could help remind you of all the things you'd forgotten, and at other times, well... you could be reminded of the fun you had doing the things you loved.

And with that, she settled in to observe the fight and see what happened. "Asuka, remember to think about how your opponents behave. Don't focus only on retaliation; find a way to play to your own strengths and control the flow of the battle." she said. A few minor tips throughout the battle should make it at least slightly less unbalanced.

"Come on, you know I don't force myself onto people. I just show my love"

As Yatsuda had managed to make it to the mansion, he was severely out of breath. As he stood outside, he made sure to quickly regain his composure. He had on him the new outfit that he had gotten from the metalsmith, and from the tag that was left with it, it was a gift from the Grand Summoner. And he felt that it would be incredibly rude of him to have not worn it. So, he had opened the door and went in, speaking loudly
"Sorry for being late- Wha?" And with that, Yatsuda had come to realizing the battle that he had entered to, between his allies and the Grand Summoner herself.

Kyouji Kuzunoha X, Great Summoner of the Yatagarasu
"What's honorable is all a matter of perspective...I just do what's necessary."

"Guess I didn't need to tell them twice," the Great Summoner smirked as the apprentices fell into line and drew their weapons, calling forth their demons, wasting no time in preparing to do exactly as Kyouji had instructed. Glancing over at the other Great Summoner present from the corner of her shadowed eye, there was a grin on her lips that seemed to hint at something...an amusement? A sort of shared acknowledgment of how serious the kids were taking the training? It was something...they were something, but just what they were, the hooded assassin was about to find out with her own hands. Each of them was incredibly talented in their own way, commanded an impressive array of devils, but each of them still had lessons to learn if they were going to ascend into beyond apprentice and become a Master. That was why they were here...a special, intense training session...personal combat against a Kuzunoha was about as intense as it got. But they had numbers on their side, which had to count for something...something they seemed plenty happy to rely on as the first wave of attacks consisted mostly of an array of physical strikes, each of them taking the initiative to test her defenses...perhaps see just how serious she was about this so-called 'Final Exam'.

Who did they think they were dealing with, anyway?

"Hmph," a playful hum escaped the summoner's lips as powerful wind washed over her, but in a flourish of black cloth Kyouji bounded through the magic with nary a scratch, a foot landing in counter to the girl's physical attack squarely at the center of her chest, driving her back a fair distance as she landed...smoothly spinning as she landed, not a wasted movement even in the flourish of her cape, blinding both Shu and Red as they closed in on her to provide the split second she needed to catch the wrist of either apprentice...the spin allowing her to simply use their momentum and propel them past her and face-down in the dust as she finished in a crouched pose, watching each of her three attackers reel and recover from the silky smooth counter of their master. Even with the reduction in speed, she was still as swift and lithe an opponent as any of them had ever faced; that sort of quickness was invaluable when you lacked the stopping power of a Raidou or a Geirin. "You guys are talented summoners," Kyouji smirked easily beneath her hood, only her lips visible...taunting them playfully as she crossed her arms and stood, "But when it comes to hand-to-hand, you've still got a lot to learn. For now, try listening to your summons...coordinate your attacks; don't telegraph them."

Twin blades slide free of the hidden sheaths at her wrists, flashing in the morning sunlight; fingers hooked at the corner of her cloak, pulling it back around her waist slightly to reveal a series of tubes...silver, the tool of their trade. She hadn't drawn any yet. Maybe she wouldn't...but the threat was a reminder that in a flash, she could turn the number odds much less in their favor. They would be wise to take the initiative while they could, as best they could.

"Asuka, don't be so straightforward; I can see your attacks from a mile away. Red, you're still fresh to this, so if you're not sure how strong an enemy is, rely on your devils to collect information on your enemy until you get the feel for their level of skill and defense. If I'd had a mind, I could have killed you twice just now," she advised as she waited for them to recover and attack again, before glancing towards Shu...and Aussa, the very first summon that he commanded. Ah, memories... "Shu, you need to listen to your summons; don't just command them. Devils fight beside you...they risk your life for you! And when there's something they want to tell you, you need to listen carefully or you risk losing more than just their loyalty," the summoner called out sternly, watching Aussa...sensing something deep within her. A power...this was what she had been waiting for, this moment! And Jo(Shu) too, though he hadn't yet realized it. A deeper power...an evolution, characteristic to a certain type of devil...a Charmer. "Don't you feel her...? Aussa is calling out to you...she wants you to see her potential. Her real potential...and she's betting her life on you!"

...

In a flash there was a tube between her fingers and a devil flying out of it; the Fairy Hua Po was streaking like a flash across the field. And despite her diminutive size, there was something different about her...a sense of purpose, a lethality...Aussa was trying to do something, and she was counting on her master to recognize it. And if he couldn't...if he couldn't hear her desire and command her to answer...

The exam might end before it really even began.
