Class: **** HP: 100/100 Description: This creature is entirely covered in armoured platelets, making it very, very difficult to find a weak spot. It will also released electrical charges along its spine that become dangerous if left unchecked for too long. To neutralize this, the electrical charge points must be attacked before they literally explode and knock Hunters back outside of its blast radius. Upon defeat: Has a 100% chance of dropping Insanity remains usable for the R & D.

It had taken some time to convince the techs that he wasn't going to do anything stupid, and that he needed both the offensive AND defensive gear because his "partner" had slept in and was running late and he didn't want to wait. In truth, he was a terrible liar, and it was a miracle in itself he managed to trick them, though to him it seemed more like they couldn't really care.
With that aside, he faced another problem, and while he saw a Titan not far off in the distance lumbering about, he was fiddling with the harnesses for the defensive gear, gave up, and turned his attention to the fear stabilizers instead. It was always the offense first that secured the cord, and THEN the stabilizers were used, but perhaps it could be switched around. The huge downside was if the Titan moved out of range, which would leave him short. Or... he could secure the cord first, fly down to secure the stabilizers, and then mount the Titan again? Of course, there was also the risk of the Titan knocking him out cold before he could secure it, but he liked to think the Titan wasn't that much of a sentient creature.

She had still been angry that morning as she had gone about taking care of paperwork and various other assignments she'd had. The anger worked well, though, because aside from seeming a bit grumpy, she seemed normal. If anyone had noticed the light bits of concealer and eye makeup she'd used to help detract from her puffy eyes, they didn't say anything. She took that as a good sign. No one needed to know what had happened, just how big of an idiot she'd been. She still hadn't figured out what she'd say when someone asked about Jake. Probably something neutral like, "It didn't work out." As long as no one asked anytime soon. Too soon, and she'd either cry or yell. But no one had asked, so she didn't need to worry about that yet.
She also hadn't decided what she'd say if she came face to face with him. Heck, she wasn't sure she'd be able to say anything, and hitting him sounded like a fine idea. But that wasn't proper, or nice. He may have deserved it, but still, it wouldn't change anything, and he wasn't likely to learn anything from it.
But in all the situations she'd run through her head that morning about coming running into him again, this had not come up. Jake, standing there with extra gear looking longingly at a Titan.
"Oh," she said, moving toward him, "what, you can't wear both harnesses at once? Where's your help?" If she sounded bitter and angry, well, she was trying to.

Of all people to run into...
"You're only meant to wear one harness, but I had to take them to get the FEAR stabilizers also." He gripped them tightly in his hand, hoping it didn't betray the fact that he actually had no idea how to use them. "It's ok, I don't need help, and you don't need to concern yourself with me anymore."

Sherry put a small smirk on her face. "You don't need help? But Jake, there's a reason those stabilizers come with a harness and not with all of your gear." Like she'd said last time, a two person job. "When was the last time you were at that end of a Titan rope? Do you even know how to get it anchored?"
She made a point of looking around them. "Did you really come out here planning to fight one on your own?"

The smirk was somewhat unnerving, as if there was some sinister meaning behind it, but he shrugged it off. There were a lot of sides to Sherry that he hasn't seen before, and it really shouldn't have been too much of a surprise she was acting rather cold towards him. If anything, he would have been worried if she acted just as she had, all cheerful and happy. It was something he caused, and something he'd have to live with... if he survived that long.
He gave her a somewhat exasperated sigh and shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not in R&D, I wouldn't know those kinda of things, but it's just to make things easier on the hunters. I'm sure with a bit more effort, a hunter could use both gears by themself and take down a Titan without a partner. Shouldn't be too hard, right?"

"You're sure?" She arched an eyebrow. "Then why haven't you done it yet? If it's not 'too hard' then you should have been able to do it already, right? You'd only need to be in two places at once."
Her gaze flickered towards the Titan, then back to Jake. "Did you even ask anyone for help? You do have friends on this island, if you haven't forgotten them, too." Her tone might have softened a tiny, tiny bit. Sherry had trouble staying made for long, much to Armagnac's chagrin.

"That's because I just got here." At this point, he wasn't sure if she was just here to harass him or whatnot, since it didn't look like she had anything better to do.
"I don't NEED help. I can do just fine on my own." He could almost hear Chester chiding him inside his head, and though he knew that what he was doing was stupid and reckless, he had no other choice. He didn't have time to go running around asking people he didnt even know to help him, and even those who Sherry considered as "friends", he knew they would only tell him this wasn't the way to go about it.
"Sherry. If you're here just to give me a hard time, then please leave. I already made it clear there's nothing between us, and I know you're not stupid enough to help me after I've been 'using' you all this time but please. Not now."
He knew what he said would most likely get him a slap in the face, but right now, he was tired, agitated, and Sherry please go away you're not helping..

If she'd had fur, it would have bristled in anger. "I know exactly how you feel about me, and a 'hard time' is the least of what you deserve." Sherry had been listening to Armagnac a little too much since her last time seeing Jake. "But excuse me for coming over here to make sure you weren't going to get yourself killed like a complete idiot." It made her mad at herself that she still cared enough to make that statement completely true.

Sherry was given a somewhat startled look at her response. Did she... still care? He knew she was kind-hearted, but to go to such lengths for him... "Whatever happens to me should be the least of your worries, after the way I've treated you..."

"It should, yes," she more than agreed with that. He didn't need to know how much she still cared in her weak little heart. It was all still to fresh, to raw. Damn him. It was all his fault.
And maybe hers, for caring.
"But it's my job to make sure folks like you don't die on silly little jobs like this. No matter how stupid you try to be."

It was probably something he wouldn't be able to change her mind about, so with a reluctant sigh, he bent down to pick up the harness, stared at it for a moment, and then offered it to her.

Sherry looked at the harness, then at Jake. "I said I was making sure you didn't get yourself killed, I didn't say I was helping you."
<...>
She didn't move for several moments, several long moments, before she reached out and took the harness from him. "Why are you so intent on fighting these guys? I know what you told me before, but were you being fully honest?"

She did say that, didn't she? But then she took the harness and he paused, not sure how to answer her. "... about what?"

"About the training." It was a good thing she was wearing clothes that worked well with the harness, she was glad for that as she set about buckling it on. "So many Titans, to help you get back Chester? Not that you have any reason to tell me the truth, but you have no reason to lie to me, either."
