Yokheved:
The sound of water had become quite soothing over time, to the point where whenever she needed a few calm, relaxing moments, Yokheved had always gravitated towards this one spot. Most times it was just because she felt old. Her babies were all grown up, and Li was gone so often now. Not that she shouldn't have expected that, him being a god and all that, but that didn't mean she couldn't miss him! He was her baby just as much as Cain, Abel, and Saletta were, couldn't have cared and worried for him more if she had birthed him. Sometimes she saw unease in Cain's features, no matter how hard he tried to hide it. It made her wonder - and worry, of course - that he, too, might leave the pridelands someday. He would come back if he did, no doubt in her mind over that one, but...

'Heve sighed and closed her eyes, letting the sound of the water chase the spiraling thoughts away. She would find Tamar and collect more herbs for her stores soon. Just a little break.

Li Wei:
The water rippled as a sudden shift in the wind's direction stirred the flora around the lioness. A whiff of cloud seperated from the small trail up above and a small shining figure rode the small whiff downwards. Paws and hooves brushed over the water and eventually settled over the grass, moving in such a way that not a single blade bent under his paws.

The god sighed and looked upwards as his mane settled around him. The god form faded into that of a small half-maned lion. A familar sight to the pride, and to his mother.

He offered her a smile before breaking into a run to meet her and bury his face into her chest. "Mother."

A scent drifted on the breeze, one that made her smile. She didn't need to open her eyes and look to see who was coming, any mother would know her babies' scents. 'Heve sat up with a broad smile, watching as Li settled on the grass not far from her and changed into his mortal form.
Her paws opened when he ran to her and she enveloped him in a tight hug. Her muzzle moved, silently saying his name as she hugged him close. Would that she could actually say it, tell her children with her own voice how much she loved them. But then, she had her own way.

One paw stroked his mane for a moment before 'Heve pulled back and cupped his face with the same paw. She couldn't stop smiling, but her head tilted, silently asking in her own way if everything was okay.

Li brought his own paws around his mother, holding her close as she embraced him. He smiled warmly as she brushed his impossible mane out of his eyes and smiled warmly down at him. She couldn't speak, but he understood her better than if she had. He shook his head slowly and leaned against her shoulder. In many ways, he never seemed much older than a juvenile. His stature was part of it, but his mind never seemed to age beyond that of a child. Perhaps he had been unable to age over enough lifetimes that it had finally caught up with him.

"So much has happened." He admitted quietly. "I'm so tired, mother. And discouraged. This is the only place I can come to rest."

'Heve's features deepened into a frown, brows pulling together. But only for a moment, and then her face softened into a look of encouraging concern. She knew the recent troubles in the pride had taken a toll on him, it had on everyone, but their patron god especially. But he had left and been gone for a time, she had hoped that he was relaxing, recovering. Obviously not.

What more could have happened to him? He needed a protector, someone to go with him and keep him safe. No, that wasn't fair, it was the mother in her talking. If that side of her got loose, none of her babies would ever leave the den, much less the pridelands. Ever. But Li was a god, he needed to go see other prides. She just... wished he didn't need to be worn or hurt in the process.

The young lion relaxed down on all fours and dropped his backside to the ground. He looked a little worn thin, and a little green. He had smelled blood, and had fled before it had gotten bad, but it had left him feeling fatigued and winded. Where to begin?

"I was judging another pride. There was one on the sea, a pride of gypsies it seems." He began, flipping his tail, "They welcomed me in, and let me rest there. They have... questionable traditions and ways but they were peaceful so I blessed them." He frowned and brought a paw to his forehead.

"I didn't know this...but another god had blessed it before me. Somehow, I broke it, both on the land and on the god that cast it. I was so tired, I didn't know why it was so hard to cast a blessing. I slept for days... weeks maybe. I don't know, it's hard to think back. Everything came and went in a blur." He shook his head. "Then...there was a conflict. Blood was shed. A lot of it. I had to run."

Well, that certainly explained why he was tired!
'Heve listened intently, still so as not to interrupt him. Her poor Li, the world was a harsh, violent place, no matter where you came from. The spilling of blood turned the cycle, life and death, predator and prey as entwined as night and day.

Her paw patted the ground, vaguely gestured at the land around them, and then touched the center of his chest. This was his home, no matter what happened out there, they would protect him here. She hoped that reminder gave him strength.
She couldn't resist smoothing his mane again, trying to sooth his troubles.

What conflict could there have been that would cause great bloodshed in a pride that had been deserving of Peace's blessing? And, for that matter, was that why he felt discouraged, that he had made the wrong choice, or that they couldn't stay peaceful?

The young god smiled and lifted his head to look around himself. It was a peaceful place, but even then there had been threats. The outsiders had been so angry, so hostile, so ready to shed blood. It seemed that no matter how far he ran through the sky or how many mortals he met, there was always that lingering darkness inside of them. Peace could never last if they let the darkness grow. Even one in a hundred that gave into the darkness could turn peace into war within a day's time. Bloodshed only led to more bloodshed.

He looked up to his mother as she stroked the mane from his eyes. Sighing, he leaned against her shoulder and let his eyes fall closed. "I'm so tired, mum. I'm the smallest god and I feel like I've been running this world cleaning up after the others. They're all so big."

He chuckled and shook his head. "What about you? Have you found rest here? No sign of that devil from the rogue lands?"

She hated so much that there was nothing she could do for her baby. He was so small, he was a god and yet his brothers and sister were larger than he was. In her eyes, he was so strong and yet he had the worst handicap. Why couldn't the others give him a helping paw every once in a while?

Ah, but there he was, asking about her when all she wanted to do was soothe his aches and pains. But then, maybe that was something he needed, just to put his mind somewhere else.
Her expression turned peaceful, a small smile on her maw as 'Heve nodded. Yes, she was happy here. It was safe, for the most part at least. And she had never again laid eyes on the male that had been after her Li. To answer that, she changed her face into a fierce snarl, mimicking the male's when he had been angry with her. It was gone in an instant as she fervently shook her head, looking relieved.

She was not, had never been afraid of him. But for all that he had wanted to kill her son, he had foolishly punished her with such a wonderful gift. If she could, she would have laughed in his face. No doubt he had done it to dominate her, to frighten her. Instead, he had given her two proud warriors and a beautiful huntress, who would no doubt make sure that he never hurt their family again.

He craned his head and opened his eyes to watch his mother's reply. While she was unable to talk, she spoke just fine to him. There was a lot of body language that went between beasts anyway that spoke whole sentences, conveyed feelings and emotions. He had never had a difficult time understanding her. Specifics, perhaps, but never the heart of what she meant for him to know.

She smiled and he knew that she had been fine. There were no fresh hurts or bruises on her, the lioness had a good frame with strong limbs and a proud pelt. She was eating well, resting, and even finding time to groom.

"I'm glad you're doing well here. I worry about you." He smirked. "I know, that's your job, but you're my mum. I'll get bigger and older, and I'll still be worried."

'Heve smiled and shook her head in exasperation. Ah, her boys, always worrying about her. But it was okay, worry as they might at least they didn't pester her about it. Tamar was another story altogether. She could only stand one pestering worrier in her life, thank the gods that her boys were just plain old worriers.

She wrapped him up in a hug again, squeezing him tight. Whatever happened, he would always have her. Oh, yes, she knew one day she would die and he would live on, it was the way of mortals. But she would always be with him. She pulled back and pressed one paw to her chest, holding it there for a moment before placing her paw over his heart.
