Aminah sat back on her heels as she surveyed the seen in front of her. It was grim, and everything smelled of fire. She held out her hand to touch a leaf lightly and it crumbled under her finger's weight. Oh. Aminah's head swam with the thoughts of all of the work and time and love she'd put into her garden and now more than half of it was gone.

Her Tale plants were no match for the raging fire that had taken hold in her village that night. Even with all of the precautions she tried to take before leaving to help put out the village she wasn't able to save them. The moist, thick Jauhar plants didn't hold out for long either. She would have to work so much harder now.

Aminah felt her sorrow well up in her chest and it felt tight. Most might see it as overdramatic, crying over plants, but to Aminah they had been the closest thing to children that she had had before Sathe came into her life.

All this life, gone. She leaned forward, shifting her weight to lift herself up, and brushed the dirt and soot from her knees. Well, the work would have to get done eventually, and Aminah needed something to focus on besides her feelings.

It was odd for her to be thinking about a earthling...especially so since it was a woman she had met a couple times in the past. Still she couldn't help but think of Animah when she spotted a particularly interesting plant that she knew was a pretty rare find even in Jahaur. The alkidike spent many many hours trying to figure out the best way of digging the plant up without killing it and finally she resorted to digging in a large circle around the plant and digging it up as a whole item. It was large...and cumbersome as she dragged it through the forest but she was sure Animah would just love it.

As she traveled to visit Tale, she came across a patch of forest...that had seen some recent battle. Or at least fire magic. Some places were still smoldering slightly but for the most part it seemed as if someone or a great deal of someones had taken great care to put out the fire. What had happened here? This much Jerarda wondered as she continued to drag the plant with her to the town Animah lived in. It took some asking around once she got there to find out which house was the one Animah lived in.

Many of the towns people looked at Jerarda with alarm, after all it wasn't normal for a full blooded alkidike to waltz into town looking for a sage, and weither she intimidated them or pressured them into giving her the answer she wasn't sure but soon she had dragged her gift to the house, though not before noting the extensive fire damage done to Animah's home as well a few others.

"Animah?" Jerarda called out as she came to a halt outside her home.

Aminah was in the process of raking down some of the destruction when she heard her name being called out. It was familiar, but she couldn't pin exactly who it was that was calling to her. She wiped her hands and leaned the rake against the wall of her slightly charred house before answering the call.

"I'm around here." She wiped at her forehead with the back of her hand, smearing some of the dirt to her face. The day was already turning hot and bright. Since the incident with the bug mages, most of the people around here had left her alone, save for the women who helped to bandage Aminah's burned leg. It was still incredibly fresh and delicate, and she was reminded of it with every step that she took. She began the slow walk around the side of the house, intending on meeting her guest, whoever it might be, half way at least. Even with Aminah being in a rotten mood, it wasn't right to be rude to anyone who was seeking her out.

Perking up at the sound of Animah's voice she did however almost groan as this meant that she would have to drag the plant around back. Still she was a warrior and dragging a plant around wasn't the worst thing in the world...she supposed. Still dragging it along it allowed her to take in the destruction on a closer scale, what had happened here? Obviously Animah was okay since she had responded when she called her name..and nothing was smoking so the fire had been perhaps some days ago.

Once around back she stopped to adjust her bindings before turning to look at Animah. Immediately she couldn't help but think how adorable she looked with the dirt smeared across her face. Of course her smile turned into a slight frown as she observed the rest of the damage dealt to the young womans home.

"What...happened here?" she started as she moved closer to Animah, wanting very much to take her in hand and look her over to make sure that she wasn't hurt at all. "I cam bringing you a plant for your garden...afraid you may not have enough room...but.." With a gesture at the general damage it was obvious what she meant.

Aminah was confronted with an unexpected face. It had been such a long time since she had seen Jerarda, it was a little shocking to say the least. Aminah rubbed at her face, trying to clear what dirt was on there, though it just made it that much worse. She thought about washing her hands, but by the time she went in and then back out, it would almost be rude, wouldn't it? She would just have to get used to her looking a mess, she guessed.

She tried to give her friend a small smile, but it ended with a sigh. She felt like her shoulders were just so heavy right now, it was hard to fake being happy. Though that wasn't to say that she wasn't happy to see Jerarda, it was just bad timing.

She laughed out a short bust of air, almost sarcastic at the mention of not having enough space in her garden. "Well, there's plenty of room here to say the least." She heaved a sigh and tried to clear the negativity from her head. It wasn't fair for Jerarda. "I had an interesting encounter that started with a fire." She didn't exactly know how to describe what had happened that night, and the story was too long to begin with. Between the fire, rallying the village, hunting down the culprit, and fighting whatever those things were, Aminah didn't really know how to start. And she didn't want to worry Jerarda with all of the details. It was more excitement in one night than Aminah was hoping to have for most of her life.

She shook her head and looked up at the tall Alkidke. "I'm sorry. I'm being rude." She moved some of her hair behind her ear and bent over at the plant Jerarda dragged with her. It was a wonderful plant, and very thoughtful of Jerarda. Aminah genuinely smiled at the thought of getting a gift like this from someone she hadn't seen in so long. "It looks wonderful." She smiled up at Jerarda.

Frowning the warrior woman gave another long hard look at the damage. Fire was an understatement, this almost looked like it had been a planned razing. Still if Animah didn't want to say anything beyond that there HAD been a blaze she would leave it at that. The poor woman had obviously put a lot of work into her garden, and now it was mostly destroyed it must be hard for her to keep upbeat with such destruction still plenty around.

Jerarda wanted to smile when Animah smiled but instead she just wanted to wrap her arms around her, hold her and console her. And so after a moment of deliberation she reached a hand out to grip Animah's and gently pulled her into her arms. Only holding her gently, nothing more nothing else.

"I am glad you are safe. The world would be a little bit dimmer if your light was diminished." She managed to say sincerely. "Your garden will grow back, I will help you alright? Don't be afraid to lean on others, myself included."

Aminah was surprised at the sudden physical contact, her initial reaction to be a blush, but with the kindness of Jerarda's words and the gentleness of the hug she was quickly consumed by the loss of her garden. She thought she had cried all of her pain and anger and fear out earlier, that it would all be gone now, but she couldn't help it. There was a real reason that she had been avoiding people until now it turned out.

She let herself be wrapped up in Jerarda's embrace and cried, burrowing in further into her friend. It was soundless, she wasn't the kind of person to wail, but the tears flowed in a solid stream. It felt nice to have Jerarda there. She hadn't really let herself feel the fear of the fire after it had all been over. The action of the night had not been the time for being afraid, but now that it was over, now that she wasn't working on her garden, and she had someone who voiced their concern and care for her, it was hitting her hard.

The stream of tears eventually broke, and she was able to speak, though she avoided Jerarda's face. "I was scared. I was scared and I didn't know how I would manage to get out." She wiped at the tears on her face, but they were just replaced within seconds by new tears. "I didn't know what to do, and now it's over and there's so much damage." She couldn't even begin to sort through the real depth of her emotions, but she needed someone to talk to and Jerarda's words had her mix of thoughts tumbling out of her almost incoherently.

Her small act had resulted in the flood gates opening, she hadn't expected Animah to cry, though she shouldn't of been so surprised by it. After all her garden had meant everything to her and with it in ruins all the work and love put into it suddenly would be up in smoke. Literally. Allowing Animh to cry and sob against her she gently ran her hands through her hair, trying to console her as best as she was able.

And when she finally spoke she listened to Animah's words carefully. Couldn't get out. That meant that the fire hadn't been restricted to the garden but quite possibly her home. Her gaze flickered to the house and she could see a bit of fire damage on the side closest to the garden. Did Animah have an enemy? The young hybrid didn't seem the type to make enemies...

"It's okay, you have a smart head on your shoulders and your alive. What happened here Animah? Surely you of all people don't have a enemy out to get you."

Once Aminah was able to get herself together enough to stop her heaving breaths, she was left with quiet hiccups. The tears hadn't stopped their incessant flow, but she barely felt them on her cheeks anymore, there wasn't any space left on her cheeks to become wet. And she had succeeded in smearing her tear spattering onto her friend. "I..." She looked to her house, following Jerarda's eyes before looking back into the forest leading towards Jauhar. "I don't know really." The reasoning behind the attack was all very ambiguous to her. "I don't think they were my enemies really, they just seemed so... sinister."

She thought back to the dreadful clicking sound that came right before a launch of attacks and the armored, ugly skin beneath the cloaks. "I've never seen anything like them before..." She trailed off. She didn't even know if Jerarda would believe what she had seen, it was all too unreal and the bug mages were too strange and dangerous to really comprehend. Aminah wouldn't have thought that they could possibly exist if she hadn't come face to face with them herself.

Jerarda listened to Animah's words, the way she described the ones who had hurt her friend so terribly. Her hands continued to stroke Animah's hair before it went down to try and wipe away the tears on her friends? face. A hatred and rage was building up in her chest, even if it was just a brief description of words she could almost be certain she knew who the culprits were.

"Animah, I am guessing they weren't anything you've seen in this world...that they did not speak the words of men and women. Their hatred is evident by the acts they pursue fire it seems to be their favorite tactic...." She murmured after a moment before she wrapped her arms around Animah thankful that the woman was for the most part safe. But to think that the bug mages would come out this far....and to set fire to this village. They really were an inane evil of the world....only wishing the destruction of everything...

Aminah let Jerarda wipe her face, enjoying the comforting feeling of her hand on Aminah's skin and following the gesture with her own hands wiping what was left. Her tears had all but stopped, but her feeling of comfort stopped short with Jerarda's words. She knew. Had she met them before? She didn't think there could be any way that Jerarda would have known about the beings she wasn't quite sure were of this world yet, but somehow she knew.

She pulled herself closer to Jerarda. "You've met them too?" Her surprise was evident in her voice, her hands holding onto Jerarda just a little tighter. Even with the news she couldn't help but notice the feeling of Jerarda around her. It was nice; it was safe. If it weren't for the circumstances of their conversation she would have wanted to stay like this. It was a strange thought, but it felt right.

Nodding her head slowly she felt her gaze fall on the woman's white hair, she stroked it lightly marveling at how smooth it was. Where was Animah going to live now? Was it safe here? Technically it wasn't safe anywhere it seemed...then there was the Oban threat... why did laugh have to be so complicated?

Feeling how Animah held onto her she felt that desire again, like how in the past she had stolen the 'puppy' 's first kiss she wanted to kiss her again. Though for entirely different reasons. What would Animah think? Would she think she was teasing her again?

Leaning back slightly she looked at the woman still in her arms. Her younger self would think she was nuts.

"Animah, I was so afraid when i came to the village to find your house in ashes in smoke. I...didn't know what I would do if you were gone. I know our relationship started off rocky...I was young...and arrogant. but now...I want to try and unite the clans together. I think you can help me do it."

Aminah let herself enjoy Jerarda's stroking, needing someone to calm her down and help her be whole but also hoping that this meant her feelings for Jerarda - however ambiguous till now - were reciprocated.

It was odd to hear Jerarda speak of joining the races of Tendaji as one. It was so... mature of her, Aminah hadn't expected that. Their past encounters had been playful almost, with Jerarda seeming imposing and overpowering to Aminah. Now she seemed caring, responsible, level headed. Aminah let herself analyze Jerarda's face, the movement of her mouth as she spoke, the way her features looked just inches from Aminah's own face and when Jerarda mentioned the notion of her helping Jerarda, the tone of her voice, Aminah couldn't help herself. She thought of their first kiss, the one Jerarda had stolen from Aminah and her only kiss to present, and pulled herself onto her toes, stretching up and closing the gap between the two of them, pressing her lips softly against Jerarda's. She lingered, letting herself enjoy the feeling of having chosen this for herself this time, before pulling away.

The alkidike woman had been worrying about many things, if the Dretch would try and attack Animah again, and if so why? They seemed to randomly target people so it was hard to say why they would target Animah .. Dragged out of her thoughts as she felt the shorter woman moving she looked a tad surprised to be on the receiving end of a kiss.

Unlike the other kisses she usually was the instigator, so it was very different to be getting one from Animah. She had to ponder a few things, like was Animah kissing her due to the fact she felt vulnerable. Still it was nice, to have her lips against hers, she wanted to get carried away to creep her hands down her back and fondle her but would that be crossing a line?

Enjoying the kiss a moment longer she was careful to push Animah away,

"Animah...I know you are vulnerable right now, i don't want to take advantage of you..." She managed looking away from the woman wondering if she would be able to keep herself back.

Her eyes opened and turned up to Jerarda when the kiss was broken. Aminah had never felt so sure of something in her life right now. She knew she wasn't vulnerable. Jerarda turned her eyes away and she felt like a weight was pressed against her chest. She hesitated, knowing what it was that she wanted but not knowing how to explain it to this woman in front of her.

She reached up, pressing a hand lightly against the Alkidike's face. "Of all the things that's happened lately, this is the one thing I'm sure of right now." All of the feelings that had welled up inside of her the duration of her friendship with Jerarda, she knew in a single moment that she wanted Jerarda to be there with her always. It was almost silly now, to have put it in words in her own head, but it didn't change how certain she was. "Would you call me crazy if I told you I need you... that I want you...?" Wanted her to be with Aminah, and the numerous ways that she knew she wanted Jerarda had her blushing more fiercely than the first time she had met the Alkidike. She had never been more nervous of rejection than she was right now.
