It had been a relaxing day, and Cedar Bark was in a good mood. She had spent the morning hunting with Soft Leaves, and they had enjoyed their meal together laying on a nice bed of moss. The weather was fair today, and they had been slow, taking their time on purpose. Soft Leaves was resting at their home, and Cedar had taken to walking, she was headed down a path they often traveled to a large patch of wild strawberries. The berries were nice to eat, that was a given, but the flowers weren't so bad themselves, and Cedar liked to keep dried ones around their sleeping area to help keep away unpleasant night-things.
She lifted her muzzle to the air to sample it for a trace of the beloved strawberries. They were rare in the swamp, but that just made them all the more lovely, and for Cedar, it made them easier for her to remember where they were. It had been since she was just a child, her mother had shown her a very small patch of them and told her the story about how they kept the bad dreams and spirits away while you slept. Cedar's mother had always kept them around their sleeping spots, and the young doe couldn't remember a night in her life where she hadn't slept like a baby and only had the most pleasant dreams.
The life of a healer was a simple life, free from most worry, as many things could be self-remedied quickly and easily. Her tail flicked behind her as she wandered along the path, her mind on the strawberries, and her attention lacking slightly. Generally, she was cautious, but no so cautious that it would rule her life. Cedar had never gotten into real trouble, so she certainly wasn't paranoid, and most others she had run into since she had been out in the swamp on her own had been friendly and agreeable, and if not, they had at least been easily avoidable. She hummed a soft tune to herself as she smelled the sweet scent of the wild strawberries growing stronger.

It was happening. He had to go and get some more items to help restock before the weather turned. He didn't think it would happen that they would send him on his own. Gathering Clouds moved fast to get there and back. Nice weather doesn't always stay that way, at least not for him. Now if only he could remember what it was that he was after again.
Sighing the buck slowed his pace to get on the trail they said would lead him to the delicious treats. Looking at the branches and trees, it seemed to be the right one. They said you could scent the item before you even see it. Taking a deep breath, the multicolored kiokote smiled. "This is it!" Excited, he did what all kiokote love to do, ran. Not paying the best of attention, Gathering bumped...well ran into the kimeti doe.
"Oh...I am in so much trouble...I am so sorry!" He started babbling, more from embarrassment than anything else. The doe had blended into the surroundings, how was he to have seen her.

Cedar had been swept away in her thoughts when all of a sudden she was being swept to the ground by someone who seemed to be in quote a rush. She didn't know how to react, so she let out a loud shriek, followed by a nervous giggle. She rolled in the grass, flustered, and knocked against a stump. In a rush of fur, she noticed that the one that had run into her was a male Kiokote, she had only seen one before, but her mother had trained her on healing different races, so she knew when she saw him. She shook herself and stumbled to her hooves, nearly tripping over them herself. As a hunter, Cedar Bark knew she had to be quick to get to her feet, and she stood, chest heaving as she breathed heavily, staring straight at him for a moment, stunned.
"Oh my gosh!" She softly exclaimed, shaking her head again and watching as her nervously tried to gather himself. "You're not in danger, are you?" Was her instinctual inquiry, as she figured it was fair to assume anyone running that fast might be running from something. She thought on it for a moment and remembered her mother saying about how Kiokote liked to run anyways, but nevertheless she stuck with her question. If there was something coming, she wanted to have ample warning to flee as well, the strawberries could wait if that was the case.
Her bright eyes blinked slowly at him, awaiting his response. She couldn't help but notice that he had a similar coloration to herself, and wondered if she would have noticed him had he been simply walking rather than running full speed.

Oh gosh, he even knocked her down..He shuffled around. This was not good. "Danger?? Only if you tell my bosses I was in to big of a rush to get things back to them." Gathering tried to calm his nerves, sides heaving with the deep breaths he kept taking. "You aren't hurt are you?" He was used to all the species, considering that he was working with them all. Except Zikwa, they were the only ones he wasn't sure about.
He looked at her, wondering if he was actually walking would he have noticed her. Well it was really hard to tell, with the grass in her fur even more. The joys of living in a swamp, go into browns and greens, and you could be bypassed for days on end. "I am actually out to get something for another who ran out of stuff so we can get some more items in."

The wiry young doe grinned lopsidedly at the male. He seemed like he was on some strange sort of mission, interesting. "Oh, you just run about to fetch things for...hmm...your boss? What's a boss?" Cedar had never heard this word before, and this was certainly intriguing to her. She was always interested to learn new things about others, and he seemed to be contemplating her as well, anyhow. "What are you looking for anyways? How can you be sure you haven't missed it what with speeding around like that?" She perked up her ears and grinned at him kind of mischievously. Her tail flicked behind her, and she gave another small shake of her body, bits of grass and dirt falling to her hooves.
Cedar Bark was very curious to know what exactly it was that he was fetching that would require such haste. Or maybe it was just the principle of this 'boss' thing. She bit her lip as she pondered it...perhaps it was the strawberries? she wondered in passing thought, dismissing it. She considered what the odds would be that someone would be seeking wild strawberries with such vigour. The rust-colored doe did however, glance in their direction...

Eying the doe, Gathering smiled back. This could be good. "Boss is umm, one that tells you to do things for the good of the group." Bobbing his head, "Yeah, the good of the group." Like he really knew where boss came from, but it fit with Rise, right?
The buck was in kinda awe of the kimeti. She took the hit like it was nothing, which is more than he could say if it had been him getting hit like that. Blushing, "Well. I don't remember the name, just that they are red and you can smell them before you see them. And this trail had what they told me to look for from the direction I would be heading."

Cedar was sort of bewildered. He seemed slightly...intimidated by her? She noticed his nervousness. Maybe he just needed someone to calm him down a bit. She listened carefully as he spoke, giggling a little at his slight lack of sureness. Well, she was sure that he knew what he was talking about, she certainly didn't, but nonetheless, she found it sweet anyways.
"Well, that sounds good I guess. I'd sure like to be a boss! I like making sure others are good and well." The young doe grinned widely again, swooshing her tail and tilting her head as he described what he was looking for. And they knew this trail? She was surprised, but figured it couldn't be that strange, as it was the swamp...there were many here besides herself, perhaps sometimes she just spent too much time alone with Soft Leaves that she forgot a little bit.
"You know, I know exactly what you're looking for!" She burst into giggles, finding it hilarious that the thought she had dismissed as unlikely only a moment ago had turned into being exactly what the situation was. She wouldn't tell him that, he probably didn't care to hear what she had been pondering moments before upon their rude introduction. "I was looking for them, too." Cedar Bark winked at the male coyly, taking a step toward him. "If you promise to relax a little bit, I will show you where they are and help you pick the best ones..." She trailed off, her bright eyes settling on his features.
Cedar did like to help others, and she knew there was plenty enough for both of them to have some, without the patch being over-harvested. She lifted a brow at the male quizically.

"YOU DO?!" He forgot to be shy and quiet when the doe told him she knew what he was after. "Are you sure there are enough?" He was just told to bring back as many as he could, which might not be a lot since Gathering didn't bring a shell or something similar to carry them back.
Sighing, he realized he didn't even know the female's name! "oh no wonder they don't want me as a greeter, I forget the easiest things. Umm...My name is Gathering Clouds. What's yours?"Sarei Stargazer Sorry for taking so long!
