The small mare pushed the rock along the side of the small smoothed cliff above the two pools, grunting with the effort. With a splash it fell off the side of the brook bank into the water, not really where she wanted it. With a huff, she stepped into the water to dunk her head and catch the rock on the tip of her nose. It was a large brook, not large enough to carry Nova or salmon, but large enough for small trout. The kind that only had a small spring of a jump in them to clear any dams in their way. What she wanted to do was create a dam with a few openings for the water to get out without the fish. Hopefully. She was sure a few here and there would slip through, but overall it should keep the larger ones out. And provide the pools with fresh water at all times. There wasn't a way she could clean them without going in the water. As much as she loved it it was a hassle for her to clean without fins. She had not been grazed with Ide's fins like her other four legged sibling had been. They might have made a little difference in the water. Maybe enough to make any underwater task easy. As she tried to move the rock with her face, she decided a Nova might make the task easier. Even this one. With that body and the big hooves, maybe one could get on its side and pick it up.

Until than...

Perchuhi lifted herself from the brook, letting her legs drip water onto the grass. She looked around her until she spotted another rock, repeating the process of pushing it towards the small body of water and taking careful aim with a hoof so it dropped where it was supposed to. There. Both brooks were built up. The cliff had already been smoothed so no one hurt themselves off sharp edges. There were still the pools left to decorate and clean. Check on the waterfalls to make sure they fell right.

As the mare moved down the stone steps towards the two pools, she flicked a stray rock off the side of one towards the dirt edge. In one pool her little star played, never far from her side. For now she left it. Her operation wasn't ready for use. It was an odd little star. She never questioned its existence. It had always been there, by her side. That was all that mattered to her.

Around the edge Perchuhi walked, pink eyes off the little star for the moment as she checked the smooth stone floor. A stone was flicked one way, than another as she kept it free from getting stuck in hooves. A small smile played on her lips as she paced through her handiwork. The transparent cloth hanging off the pillars that her little star friend had helped her with. The little waterfall increasing in sound as she neared the end of the pools. She couldn't resist a look at the ocean when she neared them, stepping near one so the water ran over the very tips of her hooves.

She guessed the Nova heritage was what gave her such a fascination with the water.

User Image Arash's mind had wandered. A days worth of treasures were stored away in the bag his sister had made him and he was headed home. Originally.

It was a while before he realized he was swimming against an unfamiliar current. Still, sparked by curiosity, he moved forward. Perhaps there would be some treasure he could bring back to Noelani. She was always so thrilled with the things he brought back for her. Imagine how happy she would be if he told her that he had found a new place to search! The possibilities were endless.

Finally the stallion saw sunlight above him and he slowly poked his head out of the water, quietly inhaling a deep breath. Sure, he was fine down below, but some fresh oxygen every now and then was nothing to snub.

Bright eyes examined the area around him with curiosity before landing on a rather...stunning mare. Arash swallowed hard and ducked down into the pool again except for his eyes.

Was this her own private area? Was he intruding? Oh no. He always got so nervous around pretty mares...

Just as he was resolving to dive down and go back, to not disturb her, he noticed something floating towards him. His brows knotted in confusion before what turned out to be a star was staring him right in the eyes, looking just as confused as Arash was. Arash, however, had never seen anything like it before.

With a start, the nova flailed about in the water, letting out a startled scream before shoving himself out of the pool and away from the...thing that had been examining him.

His treasure bag ripped open, spilling its contents all over the ground. Some pretty stones, shells, jewelry that had sunk to the ocean's floor, even a few gems, but that was the least of his concern.

And why?

Well, because he'd just come flying and screaming out of a pool next to a lovely mare who would now think he needed mental help.

Perchuhi had been humming a random song, not even sure of the lyrics, gazing out at the ocean. Behind her, the cloth she had hung waved in the breeze, sending shadows across the smooth surface between the pools. She wasn't thinking about anything in particular, just letting her mind wonder. Mostly about how well the bathing pools would go off. What little the mare knew of the leaders, she should have no problems finding others to use her facilities. Bathing in the ocean wasn't always good with all that salt. The Queen-if that was what she was calling herself, Perchuhi never actually looked into the titles-was vain and beautiful. She wouldn't want to ruin her skin in the salt for too long. Perchuhi's pools were fed by clear freshwater streams. Rose petals were sometimes scattered on the water, along with the leaves and petals of other plants, to create a wonderful scent for the bather. She also made special soups, tied to the end of leather strips so one could use them easier. After all, it wasn't a good thing to get a mouthful of soap.

Yes, she was sure Kass would find her services very helpful.

A smile had just crossed her face when the madness broke out behind her. There was a high pitched sound and a yellow blur streaked towards her, hiding in the comfort of her long legs. Than a scream and a splash so loud it made her cry out in surprise and duck down to the ground, narrowly missing her little star. Thinking she was under attack, Perchuhi covered her head with her forelegs. When no death blow was thrown, she risked opening her eyes.

A vision of bright blue covered her sight, making her blink a few times, thinking she had done something to her eyes. Slowly she realized it wasn't her vision. It was a Nova. The information was plain by the strange hoves and the tail. Still, she remained on the ground, the star cowering against her stomach on the other side.

"H-Hi?"

The damage was done.

If Arash could have ran with his tail between his legs, he would have done so in a heart beat.

The scattered treasures escaped his mind as he watched his handiwork in motion. The star fled away from him (he didn't blame it...but what was it?) and the entire commotion sent the pretty mare shambling to the ground and covering her face. He had scared the ever living daylights out of her...Well. To be fair, his own heart was beating up in his throat.

They were even, maybe?

And then she spoke.

It was then that Arash realized how awkwardly he had landed on the ground, his bottom half facing a different direction from his top, the effect making him look...broken. The nova straightened himself out, suddenly very conscious of how he looked and he blew the mane out of his face so he looked like less of a wreck.

It appeared there would be no escaping unnoticed after all...

Arash swallowed hard, his brows furrowing together as he hoped the bright pink he felt rising in his cheeks would be drowned out by the bright swirls. Maybe his blushing would go unnoticed.

Oh Zodiac, was he embarrassed.

"I..Er...Um...Hi. A-are you alright?"

Smooth.

"I-I'msosorryIdidn'tmeantostartleyouoryour....friend," he gulped in air, realizing he had forgotten to breath.

For the first few minutes, Perchuhi couldn't stop staring as her heart settled back into her chest. More startled than scared, she tried to shake her head to break the spell. She couldn't remember being so startled by the appearance of someone. The mare couldn't figure out how he had managed to get into the pools. Unless he had crawled in when she hadn't been looking. Strange, still, that she hadn't heard anything.

Getting up to her feet, the Starborn pulled the little star onto her back where it nestled against her curly mane, still frightened by the unexpected excitement of the day. Out here in the still small, but growing, herd, things of this nature simply didn't happen. Other than the crashing of the waves below, it was a quiet herd. The King and Queen kept to themselves. Sadiradra had her duties as the Andromeda to take care of. And Perchuhi had the pools. If there were any other members, she was not yet aware of it. There was still far too much to do at the bathing pools to pay attention to the rest of her surroundings.

But she could use a helper or two. Perhaps later she should take a walk around the herd's boundaries in search of any new members.

Working her mouth, Perchuhi tried to speak to this stranger, her heart still hammering in her chest. "Ye-yes. You just startled me." At the sound of her voice, the star peered around the blue mane, two limps pressed against the mare's neck in the only way it could 'hold on.' "How did you get in there?"

Arash licked his lips, his ears pressed down low against his blue face. He was certain now he was blushing so hard that no swirls would possibly hide his embarrassment. His wet mane was plastered to his face and he finally blew it out of his eyes so that he could see again. That, however, turned out to be a mistake as once again he got a good look at the mare. Wasn't that what had started this whole mess in the first place?

Ugh.

At least he hadn't hurt her...

"I...Really, I am so terribly sorry. I wasn't. I mean. That is I wasn't trying to spy on you I. Oh stars above," he fumbled as he looked for the right words.

"I was just as surprised as you were! I mean, I don't even know how I got here myself, really, I just, there was a cave and I swam for a long time without any light. I saw an opening and wanted some fresh air and here I am and I don't know where here is and I am terribly, terribly sorry. I'll clean up my mess, really, I will," he finally took a deep breath, when his lungs caught up with him.

"I was out collecting things for my sister and I got a bit lost, you could say," his sister...

Oh gods, Noelani was going to be so angry! He was going to be so late!

...But he did not want to leave right after scaring the life from this mare. That would be rude, right?

"My name is Arash...May I ask yours? And perhaps find out where exactly I am? And are you really sure you're alright?"

Perchuhi could feel the little star on her back shift as the stallion began to talk, again. It seemed he made the little creature nervous, but that didn't help the mare to know anything about the stranger. Most things made the star nervous, especially if it was something new or unexpected. Not that she trusted the star's judgement at all. It wasn't like a normal animal, sensing how others were feeling.

What was that he said about a cave? The possibility of a cave down there intrigued her, but she kept her distance. Being a land mammal, she hadn't gone into the much deeper ends of the pools that she had intended for Nova use. Or for those very good swimmers.

"You are in Nostos. Or what will be Nostos. This is the bath area," the mare added, gesturing with her head to the other pools of water, some deep, some shallow. Despite the commotion, the cloth still hung above the water. The mess of water all over was no big deal. It was bound to happen as Stars got out. Though it probably wouldn't give such a great first impression to have a mess of water already.

At his show of concern, the mare smiled, feeling embarrassed to be so thought of. She felt the heat rushing to her own cheeks. "I am Perchuhi. This," and she turned slightly so the little star was more visible on her back, "is Robin. I think you scared each other." The smile turned into a little giggle until she blushed and turned away.
