So there's a thread for listing all your favorite characters across the series. There's also a thread for listing your favorite classes. There's even threads for the opposite. But if you divide all the characters into their respective class trees, who becomes your favorite then?

Lord: Leif/Sigurd. I couldn't pick one over the other. I love them for very different reasons, though. Leif is my favorite "young" lord (which is most of them). But Sigurd's story and how he handles himself combined with his ending has made me love him as well.

Cavalier/Pally: Camus/Zeke/SRS. I'm not particularly passionate about any of the may cavaliers or Paladins in the series although I like most of them well enough and certainly use them. But upon thinking of how surprisingly complex Camus's trajectory is as the inspiration for an OC I'm working on now, I've grown to really appreciate it. He has feelings for someone he can't be with at first and even starts and embodies the Camus Archetype named after him. Then he somehow winds up on another continent and loses his memory and falls in love with someone else. Then he gains his memories back, which must have been very hard for him, and refrains from sharing this with his new love for her sake. But STILL manages to go back and help out Marth and save Nyna. You want to talk about a story that features legit emotional complications without clear or easy answers? Camus is your man. And I really love that.

Archer/Sniper: Shinon. Well SOMEONE has to not kiss Ike's a**. Gotta love his bad attitude and constant bitcing and laziness It's nice to see characters with really big flaws in a series generally composed of really nice people to play as.

Fighter/Warrior: Nolan. He's a Fighter without the personality common to most of them: he's very articulate, not rash at all, actively reads a lot, and he IS technically the leader of the Dawn Brigade. It doesn't hurt that he's so clutch for his group.

Mage/Sage: CALILL. My love for ma' girl Calill is probably obvious. But seriously: strong independent woman with confidence, businesswoman, mother, wife. She just does it ALL.

Shaman/Druid: Henry. Hard NOT to love this guy.

Troubadour/Valkyrie: Ethlyn. In spite of her mishap.

Light Magic people: Lucius. Let it be known I never mistook him for a woman. I was a big fan of his ending with a certain mercenary and how easily said characters are shipped when I was younger also.

Healing people: Had no idea to two divide these kinds of classes since there's so much crossover. Anyway, I'm a big fan of Serra. Bless her. Her type of personality, when not on an actual royal, I tend to REALLY like. And that sprite of hers! Very unique.

Pegasus Knight/Falco.: Tanith, of course. Love her also. She does NOT ******** around with her duty and obligations. She doesn't take anyone's s**t, and she's ******** lets the senators and Shiharam HAVE IT like they deserve.

Mercenary/Hero: Echidna. I seem to have a really strong appreciation for strong female characters... Not sure if I like Severa more or less though. They're both up there though.

Wyvern Rider/Knight: Dean. Notably the first playable male flying unit in the series. And a total badass. For a game without support conversations, all the stuff he has going on between his feeling for Linoan and his country and being forced to be branded a traitor, he's also really well fleshed out, considering.

Myrmidon/Swordmaster: Shanan. I love how he starts off as a child under the protection of aunt Ayra and then is older and looks after the kids of the second generation. Work 'dat Balmung, Shanan. Work it.

Nomads/mounted bow people?: FE9 Astrid, I guess? I'm not too fond of the Nomad characters sorry to say (although I enjoy using 'em) and I did like what they did with Astrid in FE9 largely. The following Makalov worship is unfortunate in FE10, though.

Knight/General: Oswin I guess? Not too fond of anyone in this class.

Thief/Assassin/Rogue/Trickster: Anna, of course! Love her essence, her mascot status, her selfishness, and her utility. Trickster is one of my favorite classes and homegurl is the perfect representation of it (and then Leif turned in one in Awakening and I loved it even more).

Soldier/Halberdier/mono-lance people on foot: Nephenee. And she supports Calill, even better!

Refreshing classes: Reyson. Pretty face, fiery personality. They definitely did more with him than his siblings.

Dragon (Laguz)/Manaketes: Awakening!Tiki. How awesome is it that you're playing a game with as wide a time gap as there is and you get the same character you could play in Marth's games? I also love how she functions as a symbol for people.

Beast Laguz/Taguel: Volug. Appeal to sex appeal. And some of his lines translated are just great.

Bird Laguz: I'm actually really fond of Ulki.

I doubt this is everything, but I'm in a bit of a hurry. I'll flesh it out further when I get the chance.

What're your favorites for the classes, FEF?

I'll give this a shot. Though I've not played ALL the Fire Emblem games, so I may not have a wide array of characters from different games in my answers. But I will do my best.

Lord: Tie between Eliwood and Ephraim. Don't know why... I just love them.

Cavalier/Pally: I do quite like Seth. But, (Now, I haven't played SS in a while. Replaying it currently and am on chapter 9, so I don't know if this is true for him as well) I do hate that, like Titania in PoR, the characters who start out in their second class ABSOLUTELY SUCK towards the end of the game.

Archer/Sniper: Shinon. All the way. He's such an a*****e and I like it.

Fighter/Warrior: Really the only character in this class I don't HATE is Boyd. I don't particularly like him, either, but I've found most characters of these classes to be overly-masculine, overly-confident meatheads. I'm more of a fan of the.... "pretty boys"

Mage/Sage: Soren. I've always loved Soren. His back story, his connection with Ike... plus, when leveled up, he's one of the best characters in the entire game. He's been my MVP with the most kills at the end of the game multiple times.

Shaman/Druid: Umm.... Pelleas? sweatdrop Though, I've never figured out how to unlock him, yet...

Troubadour/Valkyrie: Mist. I never used to use her, but once I realized she's actually a HUGE HELP in the Black Knight battle in PoR, I've dumped Rhys (Sorry, Rhys! I still love you! DX), and use her instead.

Light Magic people: Lucius. He's so pretty! And I absolutely love the name Lucius. If my ex had let me known she was pregnant with my son (instead of keeping him hidden from me for 4 years -__-), I would have wanted to name him Lucius.

Healing people: Serra. She's just so awesome. XP

Pegasus Knight/Falco.: I'd have to say Sigrun. She's GORGEOUS, she's the commander of the pegasus knights, and, out of all Fire Emblem games, she's one of the only 2 P. Knights I ever use. Ever. (The other being Tanith)

Mercenary/Hero: Gerik. Honestly, he's the only one I can think of at the moment.

Wyvern Rider/Knight: HAAR! OMFG, he kicks so much a**! He's also been my MVP of most kills by the end of the game on multiple occasions. He's a freaking tank.

Myrmidon/Swordmaster: There's so many I like. But, it's a tie between Joshua and Stefan.

Nomads/mounted bow people?: Rath, of course. Who the hell wouldn't pick him?

Knight/General: Tauroneo, only for the fun name. I like to call him "Tauroneoneoneoneo"

Thief/Assassin/Rogue/Trickster: Volke. I can't help it. I love Volke.

Soldier/Halberdier/mono-lance people on foot: I guess I'd have to say Nephenee. She's been pretty good to me. Unlike Aran.... freaking Aran. stare

Refreshing classes: I wasn't quite sure what you mean by this (Until I looked at your example XP), OMFG, yes. Reyson. Reyson and Rafiel. They're so pretty I just want to stare at them forever. Their personalities are complete opposites though, so Idk who I like better. XP

Dragon (Laguz)/Manaketes: Nasir. I liked him from the moment you met him in the house about 8 chapters before he became relevant and gave you an elixir.

Beast Laguz/Taguel: Skrimir. The only one that's still decent in battle at the end of the game.

Bird Laguz: Just look at which character I represent in this guild and you'd know. cool

Right sir!

Lord: Ike. Sure, I do wish that he fell and got hurt more in his story, but unlike some other lords in the series, that's not the reason why I find myself watching his story over and over again. The fact that I'm an all day sucker for coming of age stories probably helps, but I really love Ike because of how adaptable he is, and how he can talk on the same level with any person regardless of their background. More than any other FE lord, I feel like Ike is a character that people can rally around, and what makes me forgive the story for praising Ike is that more often than not, the praise and development goes both ways. Ike learns a little something or shows a part of himself, and we get to know more about the character he speaks to. I also like that Ike's personality means different things to different characters.

Cavvy/Pally: The Jeigan/Oifey archetype is one of my favorites, character wise. There are a lot of older, more experienced guides for our main characters that I really like. Jagen, Finn, Oifey, Marcus. You could even throw Duessel in there, since I really like him too. But if I had to choose one it would be Titania. Her character design is perfect for her personality, She's powerful, but motherly. I like that while she had feelings for Greil, it didn't rule her character or become her only motivation. She still had her moments of sadness and unrest regarding him and his fate, but the fact that they are kept more isolated and brought up when the situation calls for it makes it seem more real to me. She and Soren get a lot of dialogue in the main story with one another and Ike, so we get to see far more of her than most others in her archetype.

Archer/Sniper: Probably Shinon.

Fighter/Warrior: Nolan, I guess.

Mage/Sage: Levin. It's been a while since I've encountered a character that fascinates me as much as Levin does. He has such large and interesting implications for an already huge story, but at the same time changes in smaller, subtler ways. I love his design too, as anyone who frequents that blast can tell you.

Shaman/Druid: Niime. I haven't played FE6 myself, but Canas' mommy is definitely my favorite druid. In general I like playable older characters, and I really like her conversations, and how she can be a scary old lady and a famous dark mage, and still be a lot of fun. Love her design, too.

Troubador/Valkyrie: Nanna. There's a sense of responsibility to her character that I really like. I do hope that we get more dialogue from her before FE5 closes out.

Light magic users: Lucius, probably.

Healers: Maria. Sometimes, one amazing moment is all you need.

Pegasus/Falcoknight: Sheeda, no contest. I still say she's the real pants of the relationship, and a real charismatic force to reckon with. She's persuasive, but also smart and genuine.

Mercenary/Hero: So many wonderful choices. Going with Handsome Gregor, though. Almost all of his supports are wonderful, and he can be intense as well as kindly. Also, he's an old Russian mercenary with an awesome voice on top of it all. That'll probably change in a few days when I'll wish I put Ogma in here or something.

Wyvern rider/knight: Haar. The Minerva archetype is another of my favorites, and there are a lot of great characters in there. Even more than Jill, Haar sticks out to me because his struggles are more subtle. Haar only sleeps when he fights for a cause he does not believe in, and it's most likely an act anyway. He's a man who doesn't like to serve countries or corrupt rulers, but rather the commander he respects (and in many ways I'd consider him more level-headed than Shiharam). To me, he is the real voice of the Shiharam platoon, more than Jill or even Shiharam himself. He's sick of working for countries whose higher-ups aren't worth it, and his character and conversations reflect it the most. There are hints of depression in his character too that I find interesting.

Myrmidon/Swordmaster: Honestly, I can't stand the Navarre archetype. They all really bore me, and even outside of it most myrms really don't do it for me. There are some like Zihark and Shanan that I like, but they aren't as common. So imagine my surprise when Awakening came along and I loved all of the myrms. Even the typical Navarre archetype is great! But for me Owain was really something else. He loves his parents so much! I love how happy he when he tells Lissa that she has nothing to fear about her lineage. He can be a really genuine character behind that gimmick, and even the gimmick is mostly an act, albeit one that he takes too far sometimes. In my opinion, he has more than enough substance to back it up should you choose to look for it.

Mounted Bow user: Rath has grown on me a lot over the years.

Knight/General: Oswin, no doubt. A lot of armor knights don't really do it for me either, but Oswin is such a strong character to me. His dialogue with Hector especially is really great, informed by his loyalty to Uther. When Hector finds out about Uther's death... That scene is always excellent.

Theif/Assassin/Rogue/Trickster: Lifis. Out of any playable character in the series, Lifis strikes me as the most sleezy and even irredeemable at times. It's different to have a guy like this in our ranks, and it fits especially well in a game like FE5 where everything smells of desperation. At the same time though, I do like the character even if he is a scumbag, which makes me like him even more. His conversations in chapter 4 especially humanize him a bit, even if he was "talking out of his a**." Also his recruitment conversation with Pahn is hilarious.

Soldier/Halberdier: I like Nephenee the most. Aran for best Dawn Brigade personality, though.

Refresher class: Reyson was an amazing breath of fresh air for my teenaged self. He's a character who is delicate, but with an edge. He can still be angry, still be sad, still be happy, and still be friendly, and everything in between, even though he's a non-fighting singer who can speak to nature with big white wings. He's such an intense character, but also so well-rounded. He's still one of my favorite characters in the entire series, if not my absolute favorite.

Dragon/Manakete: Tiki, of course! Not only is she interesting in how you can see her upbringing in her character, but I was so excited that she would be in awakening. She did not disappoint, and it feels like a real landmark seeing how she grew up, and even seeing her grown up at all! You can still see echos of the kid she once was, not only in the fact that she has her childish moments, but in her actions in general. Also, was her growth stunted? That's an interesting touch that got me thinking a bit.

Beast Laguz/Taguel: Skrimir. Now where's his resolution?

Bird Laguz: Ulki, I'd say. I love his character design, for one. I also like that his suspicion towards Beorc and how the game handles it is a more realistic trait than a lot of PoR's tooting of the racism horn. I think the birds are much more interesting in that regard all together.

Brigand/Pirate/Berserker: Hawkeye. I'd like a slice of that beefcake, please. But moreso, I like that he is calm and interesting and can have smart conversation, even though he has one hell of a battle cry and is a tall imposing shirtless man of the desert. He's a father and a servant of Athos, and I find the support he offers Ninian to be very sweet. The fact that he has an exclusive sprite is cool, too.

Alright time to bring on the list.

Lord: Hector. The isn't a lord I love to see more than Hector. We get introduced to him in FE7 slaying a person for being in his way as he's trying to save Eliwood. That's a great first impression and it shows that he cares about his friend.

Cavalier/Paladin: The Cain/Abel archtype. I love the dynamics most of them bring. These are usually my favorite non-romantic pairings in the game. Yes, that also includes Sully/Stahl. I can't give it to just one character. I can't even give it to just one duo. I'm giving the top spot to 2 duos Kent/Sain and Kieran/Oscar. Both of them have entertaining moments that make both of them shine and stand out as both a duo and indviduals.

Archer/Sniper: No one stands out with a bow than Shinon. He's a great unit, he taught Rolf how to use a bow, and in FE10 is almost a must have as a unit.

Fighter/Warrior: Nolan is one for being outside of the norm when it comes to most fighters in personality. Being outside the norm usually is a good thing for me.

Mage/Sage: I know you all are probably thinking it's Soren. No, it's Pent and Sety. Though I can't really logically explain why.

Shaman/Druid: Canas. Once again this proves going outside the norm is a good thing. He insists that the magic be called Elder magic and not Dark magic.

Troubador/Valkyrie: L'archeal. Sadly she's the only one I can even really remember let alone like.

Light Magic user: Renault. He's not great at being a bishop, but it's his background that really gets me to love him. He also has a special conversation with Nergal in the final chapter.

Healers: Serra. Those support convos can give you feels.

Pegasus/Falcoknight: Sumia, but only for the convos with Frederick. If it wasn't for that, there wouldn't be a person to put here. I hate the class WAY too much.

Merc/Hero: Inigo. Kinda wish he could have been the first male dancer we ever got. Gets bonus points for being in one of my favorite Yaoi pairings with Gerome.

Wyvern Rider/Lord: Gerome, moving on.

Myrnidon/Swordmaster: Owain for just being an act and a half.

Mounted Bow: Rath.

Knight/General: Oswin. The man behind the brothers of Ostia, Uther and Hector. That man was willing to get killed by Hector to keep silence about the fact that Uther ends up dead from an illness and Hector is now in charge of Ostia.

Theif/Assassin/Rogue/Tricker: Matthew. I love him so much I end up calling him Matty.

Soldier/Halberdier: Nephenee

Refresh class: Reyson. Third character I like that is outside the norm. Bonus points for him punching Oliver in the face, even though it cracked all the bones in his hands.

Dragon/Manakete: We've seen Tiki as a kid and then an adult. Seeing her grow up is great to see that some things don't change.

Beast Laguz/Taguel: Ranulf is so adorable! <3

Bird Laguz: Tibarn. Though I will give Naesala credit for not getting killed in 9 & 10.

Brigand/Pirate/Berserker: Hawkeye

This isn't JUST playable characters, right?

Lord: Don't have one. I like Marth, Sugurd, Leaf, Ike, Eliwood, Lyn, Hector, Chrom and Lucina.

Cavalier/Paladin: The series has a lot of these guys and I like a lot of them. Should I really name them all...? Nah... It would probably take less time listing the cavs I don't like. (The Sable knights....) Suffice it, Titania stole my heart and Fredrick gets an honorable mention.

Archer/Sniper: I also like pretty much all archers. But Shinon's a lovable jerkoff, and I also like Wil and Neimi and Jamka instantly stuck out as cool, to me.

Fighter/Warrior: Most of these guys seem boring, to me, or maybe I'm just biased because I do not like using fighters typically. I do like Boyd and Vaike and Basilio is the man, but I think Nolan is the coolest. He's the TRUE leader of the Dawn Brigade.

Mage/Sage: How do I even choose... Pent, Levin and Soren, for sure. I also gotta support Miriel.

Shaman/Druid: Niime's awesome and so is her son. Henry also has grown on me, but I keep him at a fixed distance at all times.

Troubador/Valkyrie: I like Ethlin, but Maribelle totally grew on me.

Light Magic user: Lucius

Healers: Saul's cool, Lena's cool, Lissa's cool, Renault's cool. Corpul and Sharlow are adorable. I love Rhys, Wendel, Yodel, Oliver and Claude.

Pegasus/Falcoknight: Tanith hands down. I also like Mahnya, but she's not playable...

Merc/Hero: I like Oguma a lot, but Gregor has stolen me forever.

Wyvern Rider/Lord: Haar forever. But I also like Minerva, Altenna, Heath, Vaida, Cormag, Glenn, Gale, Narshen, and Gerome

Myrnidon/Swordmaster: Lon'qu, actually. But I also like Owain, Edward, Navarre, and Ayra.

Mounted Bow: Um who was that guy again... oh yeah, Rath. But I also like the other nomads and Astrid is my GIRL.

Knight/General: Oswin, so much win for Oswin. I also like Kellam, Tauroneo, Murdock and Hannibal

Theif/Assassin/Rogue/Tricker: Volke. I also like Leila, Matthew, Legault, Jaffar, Anna and Gaius.

Soldier/Halberdier: Nephenee. Aran is also cool and better than Nephenee as a unit in the long run. I think Donnel also qualifies for this category?

Refresh class: Ninian. Reyson is also cool.

Dragon/Manakete: Nasir always appealed to me. Tiki quickly grew on me, too. I also like Ena and Kurthnaga.

Beast Laguz/Taguel: Caineghis. I also love Nailah and Panne.

Bird Laguz: Tibarn.

Brigand/Pirate/Berserker: Hawkeye. And who could hate Fargus?
PostPosted: Sat Dec 07, 2013 2:36 pm

My selection pool will be very small since I have only played Sacred Stones and Radiant Dawn... but these are my favorite characters for each class anyways :3

Lord: Eirika from Sacred Stones. I just really enjoyed her story as a young princess thrust into the realm of battle, and becoming the leader of a group of warriors. Sure she may be naive, and there were times where I wanted to hit her for trusting Lyon so much... but, it was her compassionate heart that won me over in the end. Not to mention she can be very strong if you put the effort into her.

Cavalier/Paladin: FRANZ! From the moment I played Sacred Stones and met Franz, I adored him. He is young, hero-worships Seth, and has to deal with Forde as a brother... I just loved him, and he can become a pretty strong Paladin.

Archer/Sniper: Again, a lot like Franz I fell in love with Rolf almost immediately. He works so hard to be a great bowman like Shinon, and is just so sweet and carefree smile I tend to love young male characters who are hopeful and strong.

Fighter/Warrior: Garcia is definitely my favorite for this class merely for his tragic back story. He lost his wife, and was left to raise their son Ross. Yet he always kept a positive attitude, and was a great Father, I have a soft spot for Parent characters.

Mage/Sage: Oh Lute... bizarre, genius, random Lute... Not only do I adore her eccentric, haughty attitude, but her character design is really cute and unique! Oh, and she is really freaking strong if you put the effort into her.

Shaman/Druid: Knoll is not the best character strength wise, but he is such a desolate character. When you learn his backstory, and how he was one of the dark magic users who aided Lyon, and because of this every one looks down on him and shuns him; when he was only following Lyon's vision, to help save every one from catastrophes and famine. Over all, I just like him.

Trouboudor/Valkyrie: L'Arachel!! Seriously, I think she is the most bizarre, and unique characters I've come across in FE. She is just so... weird. L'Arachel definitely marches to her own beat.

Light Magic: Miciah is not only my favorite in this class, but she is also one of my favorite characters in general. She's pretty, smart, compassionate, and brave. And honestly, I did not see it coming when Yune was a Godess who can inhabit her body, so she got even cooler in my opinion.

Healing: Well since I chose her as my character, it's not hard to tell that I love Natasha. She was one of those characters that when I first played Sacred Stones, I latched onto. I am a sucker for gentle, fragile women who may be only a healer on the sidelines, but honestly who could make it through a game without thier healer? And her support with Joshua is just criminally adorable!

Pegasus/FalcoKnight: Syrene! I just love the fact that she's a big sister character, because well I can relate. Not to mention she's super pretty! Though she isn't a very strong character, I do admit... but I've never been one to base my opinion on a characters strength or usefullness.

Mercenary/Hero: Gerik... *drools* He's just sexy, and really strong! Oh, and incredibly sarcastic and witty, so that's an added bonus. smile

Wyvern rider/Knight: How can I choose any one but Haar? He's great to look at, and he is my TANK. I seriously used him so much that by the end of all the seperate story lines (before they all came together in RD) I had him maxed out... he's just too strong, and sexy did I mention sexy?

Myrmido/Swordmaster: Marisa is just so awesome. She can be really dense and naive some times, which is a great comparison to her normally serious nature. Plus she's strong, beautiful, and has been training her entire life to be a swordsman! What's not to like?

Nomads/Mounted Bowsmen: I guess I'd say Astrid, mainly because I can't think of any one else.

Knight/General: Gilliam, he's just straight up awesome and I love his personality.

Theif/Assassin: I have to say it's Sothe, I just can't pass up on loving the mother of Ike's children.

Soldier/Halbadier: I'm like a lot of people, and I love Nephenee! She's really adorable, and I love her accent! Oh, and she kicks some serious a**

Refreshing class: Reyson, from the moment I laid eyes on him I loved him! He's so beautiful and fragile looking, but yet his features are so stern and he is so fiery! I just love his unique flair.

Dragon Laguz/Manaketes: I adore Myrrh! Not only is she adorable, but watching her have to witness your team kill her father... it get's me every time. She's so wise, and timid I want to hug her and tell her how cute she is!

Beast Laguz: I really love Maurim for some reason, he's just a big old teddie bear!

Bird Laguz: heart Tibarn!!! He's so fierce, and proud, but can be silly some times. Oh, and he's super great eye candy.

Lord: I’d have to say Sigurd. Leaf is pretty there along with Ike too so they‘re my favorite younger lords. But I like them for different reasons. But Sigurd is just such a great guy and still one of my favorite older lords. He’s there for the people for sure but there’s more to him that really holds his development throughout the game. Though, I guess he does tend to shine more as a plot driven character instead of an actual character. It mostly has to do with how much he suffers that I think makes him different in my eyes. And at times I really like the mature side of him. Okay, yeah I do think his meeting with Deirdre is pretty forced. But honestly when I look past all that, I in genuinely think he does care for her a lot. He’s not perfect but I still like him all the same.

Cavalier/Lanceknight/Paladin etc: Fin is my favorite knight of all time. Though, most of you know how much I praised him in the Best/worst parents thread. A couple others I still do like is Sirius, and Titania. I don’t really think there’s much to him in FE4 as a unit. There’s very little to know about him in that game. For what scenes you get to see of him is well.. they are still good. He’s definitely helpful to have around and fight pretty well with that prayer skill of his both in generation one and two. I generally prefer him in FE5 because you get to know him more. I think my favorite conversation is between him and For one thing, I love how dedicated he is to protecting prince Leaf especially since he’s an infant. It proves that he not only he is a great parent but the bond between him is really strong. The intro part of the game where he rescues leaf in the rain is so dramatic. I guess I’m a sucker for that kind of stuff. ^_^

Myrmidon/Swordmaster: This is a tough one for me. But I think I’ll go with Ayra. I find the Navarre archetype kind of an okay one. There’s not much that stands out about them they’re usually the silent swordsmen kind of character. Not that it’s a bad archetype as long as they can do something new with it. Like Lon’ qu for instance, I personally found him interesting, thought about Shanan too, and I do like him quite a bit too. But I think I like Ayra. She has a respectable trait about her that I like and she can be pretty frightening if you double cross her. But I also like the caring part about her and how much she cares for her niece shanan. And her skill traits is seriously awesome. Meteor, awareness, pursuit all very good skills to have.

Archer/Sniper: Actually I really do like Tanya from FE5. FE10 shinon is without a doubt a fantastic marksman unit. He’s a rather fun character in general too. I do give him more credit in FE9 as a unit since not everyone likes him that much in that game, but I thought he can become pretty good not nearly as good in FE10 but I liked him. I have some love for Wil, and of course Jamka and Faval are both fantastic too. But Tanya is kind of a special case for me. She doesn’t really start out very strong at first but she actually starts to shine if you keep with her. And you have her since the beginning with the exception of a good deal of chapters of when she and everyone else leaves you to a certain point. Freaking 9 movement for a sniper is insanely good! Her strength may not be that strong but her other stats are pretty nice. I also really liked the bickering between her and Othlin that conversation is always fun.

Mage/Sage/Mageknight: Levin from FE4 for sure. He’s always going to be my favorite Sage from the series. I love the character and his design. He’s got some of my favorite lines from FE4. But besides that, Levin is just written very well and there’s just so many great scenes with him. I really found him such a fascinating character and the whole identity to who the man really is just really interesting to find out. And even though Generation 2 of FE4 kind of went downhill, there’s still some good dialogue between him and celice. And as a unit he’s seriously amazing! He can use staves once promoted. He gets Holsety at chapter 4 and everyone that has played FE4 before knows how extremely good that tome is in the game. I also really like Merric, Soren, and Olwen too.

Armor knight/General: Oswin is still my favorite. He was the first knight I used in the series, since for those of you that already know FE7 was my first FE game ever. But really even looking back at this now objectively he’s still a great character. It’s mostly the fact how around oswin is that really makes me like him. He starts out great and ends up fantastic. The friendship between him and Hector really gives us some really powerful scenes in FE7. Especially when Hector finds out about the death of his brother Uther it’s very emotionally touching scene.

Pegasus knight/Falcoknight: Sheeda in general is my favorite Pegasus knight from the entire series. She’s one of the first Peg knights of the FE series that we’re introduced into the series from the beginning of the Akaniea series. I love that she can be both strong and still retaining a certain likable charm to her character. The Akaneia series always had my favorite character designs and sheeda’s is one of my favorites for sure. But there’s some very good chemistry between her and Marth for instance, and the relationship between them is cute.(Then again I may be a bit bias on my part) I also really like the connection between her and Ogma in FE3 book 2. Some of my other favorites are Palla, Cordelia, and Tanith, and actually Fury.

Wyvern rider/Lord: Dean is my favorite Dragon rider. For one he starts off with both A ranks in weapons and is such a great flier to use in FE5. But even as a character, he just has my respect. He deeply cares so much for Linoan which is why they get support bonuses when they’re around in battle. It’s especially apparent in chapter 14 in that conversion Eda has with Linoan. I like his mug too so that’s another reason he’s my favorite. Haar is also pretty up there as a favorite of mine too since he has that non caring attitude of his and he likes to nap in the battlefield.

Axe fighter/Warriors: Othlin all the way. I also really like Nolan too and one of the better characters from the Dawn brigade.. I like how they’re like a family in that way and he‘s pretty much the boss of the group. And yeah I’d say Boyd is a lot of fun in FE9 too. Othlin is my recent favorite both as a unit and I actually like his character too. He’s a bit of a headstrong fool and sort of a slacker, but he’s tough at the same time and he does care about his home village. Most tend to not really care for axe users since usually they miss more often compared to other weapons. But I personally find them decent units to use and kind of underrated. In my opinion, I feel that FE1-3 are really the only games that I think make axe fighters inefficient and really kind of useless. Plus, Othlin comes with the wrath skill which makes him even more awesome.

Thief/Rogue/ Assassin: I love Lifis. He’s definitely a jerkface, but there’s so much love to his character and how much they put into it that makes it enjoyable. Like he at one point he suddenly changes his attitude after the chapter 2x gaiden, and how sneaky that man just makes me burst with laughter. Especially in chapter 4 where you get to see more of him in that prison map, and he’s just a ton of fun to watch in general. But even as a unit he’s extremely handy and can grow very well. And there’s plenty of time to use him from chapter 3 and onwards. Pahn and Volke are also some of my honorable mentions in that regard.

Mounted bow user: Rath is still my favorite. His mug is really cool looking. And he starts out great in Lyn’s mode as a level 7 nomad. I just want to put out that I really like nomads in general as a unit. Okay, so they can’t actually fight back directly but I like that they can travel more efficiently across rivers, or while its raining. They do however gain swords in promotion to so that’s something right?! He’s just a very interesting character that has some really good scenes in FE7. He’s a pretty quiet fellow but it makes for some really fun moments in his supports.(Even though there’s very few of them)

Troubador/Valkyrie: I have to say Nanna. In FE5 she’s still a great healer, has charisma. But unlike FE4 she can dismount which actually serves the gameplay mechanics for a purpose to it. For one thing I actually really like how both her and Leaf act when they’re around each other. But besides that she can actually stand up for herself and can be strong. Especially in that scene with Homeros.

Bird Laguz: My favorite hawk is actually Tibarn. He is the best Laguz Royalty you can get at the endgame of FE9.It’s only for one chapter but it’s still pretty awesome. For some reason he’s always been my favorite in FE9. I love his theme “Brave King, Brave General” especially and it totally suits his character a lot . He’s got some very great moments and scenes. I like that he’s a proud king and will protect his people of his tribe and he is the guardian of Reyson. But at the beginning he didn’t really much care for the Beorc so I like that change once he saw Ike and how very different he is as a Beorc. Honestly, Ulki does seem like an interesting sort too but I don’t really know too much about him that well. As I haven’t gotten many of his supports but I probably might like him. I do like Janaff and his witty remarks, so I guess he’d be my honorable mention if I had to choose.

Beast Laguz/Taguel: I’d say Ranulf. Lethe is also a close favorite of mine as well for different reasons. But I like how loyal and courageous he is being Gallia’s commander. Also, that headpiece of his is just plain cool looking. But at the same time, he’s so darn likable too and difficult to hate. I love the conversations he has with Ike. And really he just has some of my favorite moments in FE9. And even if FE10 wasn’t my favorite game I actually thought he had some badass moments there too.

Manakete/Dragon Laguz: Tiki. I mostly like the younger version of Tiki. She’s got a very colorful design and probably one of my favorites. Awakening’s Tiki is pretty great too and I like her supports..(Especially with Anna) But also I just think she’s a fascinating character in general from the Akaneia series of games. I like how she retains that cuteness even if she has lived a really long time. The relationship between her uncle Ban-Ban is rather sweet, it was he that helped free Tiki from Gharnef when she made her appearance in the first book.

Soldier/Halberdier/ Sentinel: There’s only two in the series that’s playable Nephenee(FE9/FE10) and Arran.(FE10) Between the two I’d have to go with Nephenee. Arran is kinda cool I’ll admit, but there’s some things that I like about Nephenee a bit more. Not only does she rock as a unit, but her character can be pretty fun. The soldier design is all around a really nice design. I like that country bumpkin dialect of hers when she converses with the others. Both her and Brom have a friendly relationship so I like that as well.

Priests/Cleric/ Monks/Bishop/ Light magic users: Rhys. For some reason he’s always been a favorite of mine in FE9. He’s just a nice guy but of course he can be a bit doozy around blood.( Especially with Kieran’s support) He’s not exactly someone would call strong. But honestly, that’s what I like about him. I like how supportive he is with the Greil mercenaries even through all the bad times. I genuinely like the friendship between him and Titania and how they met in the past.

Shaman/Druid: Henry is definitely my favorite. This guy is a nutcase and totally full of crow puns. But all the same he’s difficult not to love. Other favorites of mine include Ray because he has a mischievous look about him, and Niime is also pretty awesome for an old timer.

Dancer/Refreshing classes: Probably have to say Reyson. He’s more much interesting compared to his other siblings. The herons tend to be a nonviolent/frail clan but after what the people of Begnion did to his people, there’s actually a good reason why he’s angry. But more so what I enjoy about this character is how much development he went through in FE9. Also really like Feena she can bring in a good chuckle or two.

Bandit/Pirate/Berserker: Hawkeye, The guardian of Nabata. I like that he‘s quiet and doesn‘t talk very much unless it’s important. What’s more is that he’s actually a pretty good father. And he’s a rather unique unit that has his own special animation in FE7 so that’s another reason to like him!

Danved and Devdan (who both assure you they're not the same person) are both sad that two people have said that Nephenee and Arran are the only Soldiers/Halberdiers playable in the series. sad

I forgot Brigand/Pirate/Berserker: Largo, part of Calill's power couple, of course! I really like Gonzales too, though.

Just going by favorites.

Lord: Lucina or Seliph. Love both of them. If I had to pick between them, I'd give it to Lucina since she's got a fair deal more depth than Seliph.

Cavalier/Pally: I can't decide between Ares and Camus. I typically don't like Cavs. But sometimes, they're badass.

Archer/Sniper: Go ahead and laugh but my personal favorite is Neimi. I just like her.

Fighter/Warrior: Nolan. Again, a class of "characters I don't like", but Nolan really comes off as awesome.

Mage/Sage: Ced. Quite honestly one of my favorite characters as a whole.

Shaman/Druid: Henry. Henry also has the fortune of not getting killed by continuity errors Blizzards. Unlike my number 2 for this slot.

Troubadour/Valkyrie: Maribelle. Woman grew on me.

Light Magic people: Julia. Adorable, Nosfertanking before it was cool, part of my now second favorite pairing in the series. I love her to bits. Her Einherjar in Awakening is very off-putting though.

Healing people: Rana. Even if she tends to proc charge and die. Rana is sweet, and I like her. And Her + Sharlow = Adorable pairing. [Not to mention Seliph-Julia-Rana is one of my favorite friendships.]

Pegasus Knight/Falco.: Fee or her mother [Fury] I can't decide.

Mercenary/Hero: Inigo. Zelos Wilder's FE incarnation, except he's actually bad at getting dates? I approve.

Wyvern Rider/Knight: Jill. She actually develops and is a really cool character.

Myrmidon/Swordmaster: Mia. Love her to bits. [And don't ship her with Ike, unlike a lot of Mia fans.] ...to state she was the only Einherjar I've ever reset to protect in Awakening is saying something. [The one off ship tease between Einherjar!Mia and Inigo was pretty cool too.]

Nomads/mounted bow people?: Again, a class I'm just not fond of. Astrid would claim it, but then FE10 happened. Blech. I guess she still claims it.

Knight/General: Gatrie. It's between him and Kellam, really since the rest are all 50 kinds of "meh". And Hits on Trees > Can't see this.

Thief/Assassin/Rogue/Trickster: Volke. "You there! In the bushes! You have till the count of three till I start throwing sharp objects!"

Soldier/Halberdier/mono-lance people on foot: Nephenee. Not like there's much competition.

Refreshing classes: I really like Sylvia, even if she tries to put her grubby hands on the goods [Lewyn] and mothers my single most hated unit in the entire series.

Dragon (Laguz)/Manaketes: Myrrh.

Beast Laguz/Taguel: Volug.

Bird Laguz: Tibarn.

Brigand/Pirate/Zerker: Hawkeye.

Trainee: Amelia. [If in part due to my impression of Whompmelia the 15 mov general who whomps things.]

Tactician ("My Unit"): Of the four [and two are one -_-] Robin. Kris's personality is really lame and boring. Mark doesn't really do anything [and is Robin]. Robin at least shows emotion [Hell, going by the fact that if you skip a certain scene and then review it, I'm fairly sure Robin is suicidal during part 3 of Awakening] and is involved in my favorite pairing in the series [Male Robin+Lucina = Adorable as all hell.].
EDIT: I forgot Morgan. (S)He's still not winning this category for me. Better unit, sure. But I prefer Robin to Morgan.

Just for fun:

Trainee: Ross. He's the one I find myself using most often, since he comes in at the very beginning and I don't have to go out of my way as much to level him up. I also just enjoy the guy.

Tactician: Morgan, for sure. As I have yet to have a female Morgan, I'll stick to male Morgan being my favorite for now. His voice is really sweet and lends a lot to the character too. I like that Morgan is an enigma that isn't shoved in your face, and is just allowed to exist and be a character. He's very sweet and very dedicated. The Morgan(s) that we see in Future Past also put these traits in a new light, showing that this sweet, dedicated person could have been (and possibly was) a very dangerous enemy and possibly a very tragic character who clung to dear mommy no matter what. I'll also admit to liking his A support with his father, since I think the tiny sliver of memory he did receive was very sweet, and it painted a heartwarming picture in my head, especially with how happy he was about it.
