Kara wandered down the rocky shore, brooding. It seemed that she could not escape from the salty smell of the sea for some time - a higher tide had blocked the way she came, and on her right were towering bluffs, impossible for anyone short of a cat to climb. And she knew, despite her feline attributes, that attempting such a climb would be tempting fate toward breaking her legs, an injury that had crippled many and killed more. So she resigned herself to walking until she found a passable piece of beach that would take her back to the mainland... And hopefully, it would appear soon.
In the mean time, she kicked pebble after pebble out of her way, each one making a cracking sound as it jumped over another. When she glanced up, the sea was still roiling endlessly beside her, its foam creeping dangerously close to her hooves. Though the tide might be receding now, she'd come too far to seriously consider turning around. Might as well see what lay ahead; it was about time she left home, anyway. Though she was certain to return in time, she would have to find her way back first.
As she rounded a corner, Kara was stunned to see that the larger, flat-topped stones, set in the shore like jewels, were covered in shells and pretty rocks, as though they had been left out in the sun to dry, or just wait. Curious and skeptical - who would leave such pretty things lying about? - Kararti approached cautiously, eyeing one of the trinkets. It was one that she couldn't identify, but it called to her like her mother's voice. It looked as though someone had captured the moon and brought it down to Earth... and inlaid it with a star. Eyes shifting warily, she ran her lips over it. The thing was fuzzy! Jerking her head back in astonishment, Kara grinned, despite her bad mood. Somebody had left it there for her; they must have.
Picking it up gently in her mouth, as it felt delicate, Kara made like a bandit back the way she came. Better that no one should see me, she thought, but she couldn't be certain that there hadn't been someone watching her, or lurking just out of sight. As her tongue touched the shell of the sand dollar, however, she was overwhelmed by the taste of the sea. "Ugh," she said, avoiding crushing the thing in her teeth as she put it down on a rock and tried to spit the saltiness out. It would have to be washed.Moon timestamp: New, moody. X3
