Now that her graduation was permanent and Esmeralda had been giving the status is expert tin her field, it was time to move on. She was twenty-five now, she ought to be moving along in her life, settle down and live out a long and happy life. That meant however, that she had to tell her parents she was moving out and with whom. While she didn’t really need to get her parents approval, she still felt that they should meet the man she was going to be spending the rest of her life with; including, the one who would be the father of their grandchildren.
Getting her whole family to meet her outside of the celestial plane had been hard. Real hard. Her mother had recently given birth to another boy, Serkim was as healthy as could be and probably would also be a fighter. Seristas had to be pushed to the meeting by her father, Kanun was simply happy to be seeing his older sister again. So a meeting place was set in Tukyere where everyone would be on neutral ground and perhaps not feel the need to grab their steel. Or so Esmeralda hoped anyway, she didn’t exactly want anyone fighting.
The meeting place in Tukyere was in a restaurant, the place seemed to be quiet in the middle of the day which was a good thing. Esmeralda sat at the table by herself, waiting on the people to arrive. It wasn’t until her brother ran in to tackle hug her almost out of her chair a few minutes later did she get tense. Her mother didn’t smile, but she did acknowledge her presence and she even let Esmeralda grab her bouncing baby brother from her. Her father gave her a kiss on the cheek and settled beside his wife at the table.
“Thank you for coming.” Esmeralda played with her baby brother on her lap while answering questions her brother had.
“This better be worth it.” Seristas answered, looking around. “Where is he?”
“He’ll be here.” Esmeralda continued to bounce her brother on her lap who was all giggles.

In truth, Ekundayo has been there waiting way before Esmeralda's family. The only reason that he is late to them is that he is completely nervous about meeting them as he is merely pacing outside to calm down. At least the worrying had made him forget the aches and pain his body is going through with his new wings, tail, and slowly his third eye as a crack is made on his forehead. He has heard a little about them from Esmy, just a few things of warning that her entire family are warriors, including her mother who he is worried the most. To think that Eku, who is now an adult, should do these sort of things, but he can't seeing how much his newly grown tail whipping about behind him. "Ugh, I gotta do dis . . ." He's trying to tell himself that, but he ended up sighing.
They will judge him immediately the moment they see him. He is a tall Oblivionite with stitches holding his limbs together, feathers and bones in his hair, his scepter strapped on his hip, and just . . . well everything. "Gah! Dey won't be likin' me at all!" The poor mage was at a war with himself. He would rather fight against the Celestial dragon itself rather than facing them, yet the dragon is elusive and not his upcoming future. His home was sold and all of the belongings inside and he has plenty of money to buy a grand home for them and whatever they need as he was surprised just how much some of those items are worth. After a while of fighting with himself, Eku picked himself up and walked over to the restaurant as he took a few deep breathes. He stepped inside and instantly found her family and he waved his hand towards her. He smiled warmly in seeing how amazing she looked from the last time he has saw her. It actually made his wings fluttered a bit as he saw that her wings has also grown out as well. "Damn it, what I would be sayin' to dem?" Just now he didn't thought about a damn greeting! Right now he can't run away as he walked towards to their table. while trying to make a pleasant smile with his stitched lips. "Hello . . . my name is Ekundayo Okoro. It's . . . nice to meet everyone here . . ." All the time before this he has been practicing his speech in hiding his strange accent, but he only hoped that it didn't make himself sound completely stupid.

Esmeralda has been so preoccupied with playing with her baby brother that she didn’t hear Ekundayo come in until she looked up to notice her family staring at something behind her. Turning her head, Esmeralda spotted Ekundayo and her own mouth fell a little open. Once he’d noticed it was him though, she was quick to stand up, putting her little brother on her hip for support and going towards him hand extended out to grab his. Her wings bumped the table as she got up, and even smacked into Ekundayo as she turned to face her family with her hand held in his.
“This is Ekundayo.” Esmeralda tried to offer them a warm smile and then gently tugged him towards the table. Her little brother was staring at the mage with fascination; since he’d grown up in a world without war he was impressed! Her father’s expression was with his brows high but he wasn’t smiling or looking displeased, maybe a little shocked. Her mother had a look of disgust, she’d been on the battle field when the monster had attacked, and Esmeralda could read the disbelief that her daughter was dating Ekundayo now. Esmeralda took a seat and placed her baby brother on her lap once more, but he took was fascinated with Ekundayo’s appearance.
“So this is my father, Cephcer. This is my wonderful mother Seristas, and the little Gali Dovaa over there is Kanun and the one on my lap is Serkim.” Her father finally stepped out of his craze and stood up to extended out his hand to shake Ekundayo’s.
“It’s nice to finally meet you.”
Kanun on the other hand, drew closer to the mage and asked all excited. “You do blood magic right! You look like you do!”
“Kanun!” Her mother hissed at him to quiet him down.

His eyes trailed on to Esmeralda and he was just awestruck at the young woman. She's so beautiful that it made him quirk a smile on his face; until he got smack by her new wings while he was standing over to the table where her family is. For a moment he though his arm might popped out due to his body moving to different directions. "Esmy, ya need te watch dem wings . . ." He muttered under his breath towards her. Right as his world was returning back after being slapped, he saw all the looks from her family now. The young Gali Dovaa looked to be at awe from his appearance and her father seemed to be just in shock about his appearance. Her mother, however, it was a look of utter disgust which was something he was used to. Already his first impression given to the family was going so well.
Having Esmeralda holding his hand did made him feel better though as he was brought to sit at the table with them. His hollowed eyes looked at her family members one by one as he learned their names. He mentally said each of their names so he will remember each and every one of them. His smile grew when he saw the youngest one on her lap, Serkim, who looked so fascinated at him. "Hey little guy~" He lifts his hand up and wiggled his fingers in saying hello to him and try to make him laugh a bit too. Seeing her father taking the first step in greeting, it made him very happy to see that and reached his hand out to shake his hand. "Nice te meet ya as well sir." Eku gave his full respect to the man seeing the firm nod of his head to him.
His attention was looked over to the young Kanun who moved closer to him with all the excitement practically bursting through in asking him about what kind of magic he does. Seristas hissed at him to calm down but Eku merely laughed at his excitement and nods his head. "Yep, it be me strongest magic and dark, but I use it as a last resort." He eyed the young Dovaa in seeing what class he is before speaking out. "And what of ya Kanun? Are ya a warrior?" It has taken him a while but he was slowly relaxing hearing his strong accent back instead of trying to hide it away.

“Sorry,” Esme whispers quietly, glancing at her wings briefly. “I’m not used to these things.” Hell, it had been painful enough receiving them, and now she could barely find a comfortable spot to rest because of them. Eku though, looked like he’d gained more than one appendage. She saw his tail swishing back and forth and the crack against his forehead meant that his third eye would soon be coming forth. That third eye would be looking down at her someday, and see her in all her glory. Esmeralda wasn’t vain or anything, but she would want to see the look on Ekundayo’s face when he really saw her for the first time.
Cephcer Squeezed Eku’s hand as he would anyone else, holding his hand only a little longer to look him in the eye. Granted Cephcer wasn’t the happiest man seeing his daughter date Ekundayo, he wasn’t happy about his little girl was dating at all! Another Dovaa would have been easier, but the war was over now. This sort of coupling would someday become something of old and not new, better the society accept it now than later so they could avoid another war. Plus, Esmeralda looked so happy with him, it was hard to not like the guy.
Serkim stretches on Esmeralda’s lap as he tries to catch the finger, he’s laughing heartily as he bounces up and down on his sisters lap. The Dovaa gives a gentle squeeze of her hand to reassure Eku that everything is going to be just fine and he should relax because he’s making her nervous too!
“Last resort? How are you supposed to protect my daughter out there? She won’t have the protection of the Celestial Plane when she’s out there!”
“Mother please.”
“Don’t mother please me! I don’t want you dying out there and he uses his strongest magic as a last resort.”
Kanun ignores his mother as per usual. “Yes sir! Newly Gali in fact. I’m as strong as an ox they say! Warrior runs in the family.” He softened his voice as he glanced at Esmeralda. “Except for Esme who does just as wonderful work.”
Esmeralda chuckled.

He chuckled at her quiet whisper for he completely understood what she's going through. It's been painful for the both of them and just getting use to and controlling them. Right now his tail has a mind of its own which has caused him a lot of trouble. Just the other day it had slipped underneath a woman's skirt all on its own and pulled it up. The woman screamed at what happened and slapped poor Eku for being a pervert. Hopefully within time he will be in more control of his body. He needs it now more than ever seeing how gorgeous Esmeralda is now right next to him.
The mage stared at Cephcer as they shook hands. He could tell that he is a stern man and not happy at all from this. Who would be happy in seeing their only daughter finding another man in her life? All that the mage wanted to do was to assure him that he will make her happy . . . and also assure her mother which is another thing all together seeing how she reacted to his mentioning of his blood magic. Eku only sighed deeply and wanting to slink into his chair to slip away. "If I use me blood magic first, I be too weak to protect Esmy at all later on. Blood be not de only magic I know. Hell, I be fightin' wit me fists if I have to in makin' sure Esmy be safe." The scars on his body from the cross shaped on his head by his Oblivionite master to the stab in his chest by an Orderite should be proof enough that he won't go down so easily if he's sitting there in front of them. Surely she must be pissed off at how he told her off, but it was offensive to him to even question his fighting skills.
But he tried to push if off when he felt his hand being squeezed by hers and held her hand tightly. The mage tries to calm down from it and distracts himself with the help of Kanun who was being such a good kid; and calling him sir has certainly increased his ego a bit too. "Ya look very tough bein' young too!" He grinned and looked over to Esmeralda next to him in listening to Kanun's soft voice in talking about her. "What? Esmy be de strongest warrior I eva seen. In fact, she be killin' me often whenever she talks about de dragons; I be blown away all de time." Eku couldn't help but to be a bit bad as he glanced over to her with a sheepish grin on his face before looking over at Kanun and gave a gentle poke to his forehead. "Dis be de strongest muscle in ya body. Learn from ya battles and experiences to be better dan before." He was getting along with her little brothers more than her parents by now.

Seristas leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms, wholly unsatisfied with the whole thing. Cephcer gently bumped his shoulder against hers, and gave her a look. It was the kind of look that said give him a chance. The mother can only roll her eyes. She is happy that Esmeralda has found someone, really happy; however, it’s his race she just can’t get over! And this is a conversation she’s had with her husband many times, and an internal war with her feelings. How many Oblivionites had she slaughtered? So many, and now here was one standing before her with her only daughter.
Esmeralda chucked and then leaned over to give Ekundayo a kiss on the cheek. She lingers briefly by resting her chin on shoulder and whispers in a sultry voice, “Blown away huh?” She gives another kiss to his shoulder and gets back into her chair. Kanun seemed to be quite taken with Eku, which was a good thing because she would have found it unbearable if he’d had the same attitude as their mother. School must have been doing him some sort of good now that he was a Gali and a true Dovaa warrior.
“Yes, she recently graduated!” Kanun was all excited now, bouncing up and down. “And her wings grew!” He was telling this to Ekundayo as if the other had never spoken to Esmeralda or seen her in a long time. “And she’s moving out too!” As if this was common knowledge to the family. “Kanun!” Both Esmeralda and Seristas exclaimed at the same time. Esmeralda had an annoyed tone because he wasn’t supposed to tell anyone, and Seristas because she was shocked her daughter was moving out. “What did he just say?!” Seristas got up, slamming her hands on the table. Cephcer got up at once too. “Calm down Seristas.” The Dovaa pushed her husband. “She’s not even married Cephcer! And where else is she going to go than move in with him!” She pointed an accusatory finger at Ekundayo.

While Eku felt victory with the battle against Seristas, but he felt like he's losing the war against her. She can't see anything about him other than his race while he's telling her that he will never let any harm befall on to Esmeralda. Cephcer seemed to be willing to give him a chance and her brothers really liked him too which was a shock to see. It felt nice. A bit strange for he never had one growing up, but it still feels nice. If this is what a family feels like, he doesn't want to let that good feeling go.
His hollowed eyes widen when he felt the kiss on his cheek and he looked over to see Esmeralda as she rests her chin on his shoulder. A dark chuckle was heard from the mage as he nods his head. "Always blown away Esmy . . ." He quickly gave her a kiss on her forehead before she kissed his shoulder and returning to her seat and he returned his attention to Kanun who is just bursting with excitement which made him laugh on how jovial he is.
Ah, she graduated already? Eku was starting to think what sort of gift he should get for her in celebration of all the hard work she put into her work of dragons. The following information was just some random things that they all knew such as her wings. He knew about that full well as he was smacked by them just earlier. But the next bit of news, the mage was in shocked to hear about that as he turned to see her and her mother as they both exclaimed right at the same time. "Ya be movin'?" He questioned her, however, Seristas was the one who is highly surprised by all of this as the Dovaa stood up from her seat.
The accusing finger pointed towards him was felt straight into his heart. It felt like he was stabbed as he looked around at her family for a brief moment before glancing down to the table. His demonic wings flared out slightly; his anger was starting to peak out that even Esmeralda felt by how tightly he held her hand. Soon, he calmed down as his wings folded down and he slowly stood up from the table. "'scuse me . . . I be needin' some air . . ." Eku felt completely defeated now that he needed some time away from her family. His hollowed eyes glanced over at Esmeralda as he tried to force a smile on his face before he released his hand from hers. He reached his hand up to pet Kanun's head in letting him know that he did nothing wrong before he walked away from the table and stepped outside. All the mage did was pacing back and forth as he took in a couple of deep breaths.

Damn it all this was not how things were supposed to go! “Kanun, can you go out and see Eku please?” Esmeralda said slowly to keep her anger in check.
“Why?”
“Just go make sure he’s okay.”
Kanun turned to his mom and glared. “He’s nice, why do you have to ruin everything.” Before he could get smacked he was running off towards the door to go see Eku. He pushed the door open and walked out into the warm sun. “Adults are so stupid.” He said loudly as he got closer to Ekundayo. “I think they’re about to fight it out.” He said this as if it was the most normal thing, granted for years now Seristas had been angry with Esmeralda. It was bound to happen at some point.
Esmeralda stood up to her full height, she was just a tad taller than her mother now, and stared into her eyes. “For years you don’t care that I’m off running in the woods doing God knows what, and suddenly you seem to care who’s courting me! Really mother?”
“He’s an Oblivionite Esmeralda!”
“So what? Is this about the rest of the family? Bad enough a warrior’s family has a daughter that won’t fight and became a scholar, but now she’s courting an Oblivionite! You were there the same day I was when Marcus and all the other leaders signed a treaty. I’ve known him for many, many years now and he hasn’t hurt me once. Has protected me more times than I can count on both hands and feet and now that you meet him you give him this kind of welcome? Can’t you simply see he makes me happy? That’s the only thing you should expect from me now, being happy.”
“Esmeralda…”
“No, stop. You guys were so preoccupied with what the rest of the family would think that you never bothered to think about what might make me happy.” She shoved her hand in her mother’s face to show her the promise ring. “You see this? We’re going to get married at some point, and you’re going to have Hybrid grandchildren whether you like it or not, so I strongly suggest that you start liking him now because this is going to be the last time you see me and you will never, ever get to meet your grandchildren. Did I make myself clear enough? Now I expect the rest of this day to be pleasant.”
Esmeralda stared at them before turning around and going outside. “Kanun, go back inside.” The little boy sighed loudly and went back in. Esmeralda approached Ekundayo and pulled him into a tight hug. “I’m sorry my family aren’t very nice, if you think they’re bad you won’t want to meet the rest. Come back inside, they ought to be more pleasant now. I promise.”

He never thought meeting her family would be such a headache, but then again he would assumed something like this would happen. No matter what, he is still an oblivionite and not a pleasant looking one. How would they be when one day he asks Esmeralda to marry him? Are they and the rest of her family will be happy for them? Or would they not want to be there? It was all making him sad seeing how his tail was dragging now until he stopped his pacing and lean against the wall of the building. His hand slipped over his pocket to merely touch what he has hidden in there. It was small, and round in shape and Eku sighed once again. "One day . . ."
Just then, he bounced up to his feet when he heard Kanun pronounced loudly that adults are so stupid. "Oi, what be happenin' Kanun?" Eku asked in curiosity until he learned that they are about to fight in there. He was worried! But the young Gaili Dovaa seemed to be rather calm about it like it was the normal thing with the family. Dear goddess, he is really going to marry into a family of warriors. "Ahh . . . say, Kanun . . ." The mage asked first, looking a little sheepish at first for he couldn't believe what he's going to ask the young 10 year old. "Er . . . ya won't mind, me courting ya sister?" The young Dovaa was the only family member of her family who seemed to really like him. He's scary in appearance which is a given so he had to ask and see.
Later on, Esmeralda appeared and he looked up at her as she told her brother to go inside. He chuckled and looked down at him. "Thank ya for de company." When he finally dragged himself inside, the mage was pulled into her arms for a tight hug which he gladly received as he hugged her just as tightly back. It's what he really needed as he rests his head on top of hers. Her words made his stitched lips turn up into a smile and he kissed her head gently for being so sweet to him. "Dey be fine Esmy, just somethin' that needs time and hopefully everythin' be fine." He lifts a hand up and caressed her cheek and to make her look up to see his hollowed eyes. "I don't blame dem, 'specially ya mom, dey just love ya too much but I hope dey see I love ya just as much." He kissed his her cheek, wanting to be free of his stitches across his lips so he can kiss her properly, but he settled for a kiss on her cheek for now.
Eku nodded his head and held her hand tightly so they may both entered back inside of the restaurant again, until he just thought of something. "Maybe one day, I meet all of ya family at de same time? Den all of will dem will get over it together." He chuckled on the humor of it and trying to cheer her up too for he still wants to see the rest of her family despite what happened.

Kanun regarded Ekundayo and shrugged his shoulders. “They teach us about the treaty in school you know, so training now is more about killing dragons and creatures than other people.” Indeed the school system had changed drastically since the treaty. “So no I don’t care. Why should I care? You seem nice, and you look really cool.” The last part about Eku’s appearance was said especially with awe. “Plus, when Esmeralda is home the house doesn’t feel good. Mom’s been angry with her for as long as I can remember. I think she’ll be much happier not coming back to live there.”
“No it’s not fine Eku.” Esmeralda sighed deeply. “I think I made them realize that I’m better off with you than by myself or with anyone else.” The Dovaa rolled her eyes when he mentioned love. “I think they’re more worried about what the rest of the family will say. They weren’t exactly thrilled when they found out I wasn’t becoming a warrior.” Less than thrilled indeed. It was why she stayed as far away from home as possible, she didn’t want to ever have to face that kind of damnination from her own family, not anymore.
Esmeralda took back her seat and this time left her mother with Serkim. “As I was saying, I’m moving out. Ekundayo didn’t know.” She sent a glare at her mother. “It was my own choice and if Eku wants me to go live with him than I will.” She put her hand on the table with the stringed ring around her finger. “And someday I’ll marry him and have children. End of story, if you don’t like it than you’re more than welcomed to walk out of my life.” She was laying it all out for them, no more pretending and no more cold shoulder.

Schooling sure has changed drastically when he was his age hearing what Kanun has thought of him. It all made him smile and even chuckle in hearing that he was actually cool. For once he was cool! Sadly that made him feel a little pathetic when he's the adult here. But . . . it was interesting to hear that the relationship of Esmeralda and her mother is not the best in the world. Eku was sad to hear about that. Just what else goes on at her home?
The mage has been oblivious about how things have been with her family as he hugged her tightly in his arms to comfort her. "Well, I be sorry den of what I said. I just want you to be happy Esmy and nothin' else." He will only hoped that he can make her very happy without her family by her side. Deep down though, Eku would hope that her family will be there for them if anything because he knew how life is without family.
Sitting back down, Ekundayo looked calmer now after everything has happened and he sat in silence in letting Esmeralda speaking to her parents. He didn't knew about her plans of moving out as he was just as surprised as everyone here. The idea of living together with was great really. He wanted to find a home to be big enough for the both of them and their future together. And then his hollowed eyes looked down to see her hand on the table, he found the red thread ring he had made for her years ago. He is highly happy to have his lips stitched or else his jaw will be dropped and hit the table at what the mage has just heard. "She . . . what she be doin?!" Eku's mind couldn't registered the bold words from her mouth as she just told them one day they will get married and have children flat out like that along with a choice. No parent want to hear that about their daughter so soon and in this situation. But he's happy to hear of how she is standing up for them and he should do the same.
His hand reached up and grabbed her hand tightly into his as he smiled at Esmeralda before looking over to her parents. "I love Esmeralda. I love her wit all me bein'. She has changed me life for the better and I appreciate all dat she is." His fingers as then laced with her tightly before he continued. "I know what I be. I be an Oblivi, but . . . I have no home, no family, and she helped me and be me everythin' now. So I promise to ya, Cephcer and Seristas, I will protect her and make Esmy de happiest ever."

Sertistas sighed loudly, more than was necessary really. She may have been angry with Esmeralda all those years, but at least her daughter still came home once in a while. Plus, if she did plan on having children, then Seristas would want to see her grandchildren. Hybrid or not she would love them no matter what. So she was going to have to accept this one way or another, Seristas sighed again. “Fine.” She waved her hand in the air as if dismissing the whole subject from the table, but there was a smile tugging at her lips she was trying to hide.
Her father patted his wife’s leg and gave it a gentle squeeze, he knew this was going to take a long time to heal, but the process had started and he would help Seristas as much as he could. He wasn’t super warm to the idea, but he certainly was warmer about it if his wife and his daughter could at least have a civilized conversation. “Welcome to the family Ekundayo. It’s going to be one hell of a ride.” And then Cephcer began laughing heartily, joined in by both sons and then his wife.
Esmeralda too began chuckling, which then turned into a giggling and then she was pushing back in her chair in laughter. The tension was easing with the laughter and after everyone was satisfied, it died down and left everyone with a happy smile on their face. “Well I don’t mean to finish this early, since this was such a good experience, but I think Eku and I need to have a talk.” Esmeralda pulling him by the shoulders and kissed his head. “We have much to talk about.” She whispered quietly as she lingered by his ear, this was a start and hopefully she’d be abl to someday get Eku to meet the whole family.
“Of course, your father and I need to get back anyways. Kanun has school.” Seristas gave the little boy a knowing look and he sighed and rolled his eyes. “You have to come back and visit often Esme.” Kanun came over and offered his sister a warm hug, she got up and so did her parents. The Peisio Dovaa made her way over to Serkim and ruffled his hair and offered him a kiss too. She hugged her mother and whispered. “Thank you.” Then she was hugging her father and getting squeezed and kisses from him. “I promise to visit as often as work allows me. “ Esmeralda returned to Eku’s side.

That loud sigh made him flinched a bit. He never thought he would be afraid of a petite woman in his life, but she had a lot to say about their relationship and future life. And then, it was like a miracle as he heard her saying that she accepted their relationship . . . in her own way. It made the mage so happy to hear about it that he held Esmeralda's hand tightly with joy. That welcome from Cephcer to their family had tug on his heart strings so much. He . . . he has a family now. Already he could feel the tears in his eyes, but he wanted to keep it inside as he chuckled in humor and reached his hand out to shake his hand firmly. "Thank ya, sir . . . thank you." He was so sincere he and now he wanted to make her family also happy and proud too.
He looked to his side in seeing Esmeralda giggling now all of a sudden. He wanted to know what was so funny, but seeing her smiling and laughing was so contagious that he had to laugh as well along with the family. All of that thick tension in the air had finally left once they finally came to a conclusion of their talk.
Eku nodded his head in agreement with Esmeralda as they have a lot to discuss. He smiled from the gentle kiss on his head as he looked towards to her, his finger rubbing against her threaded ring. "A lot te talk about Esmy . . ." And now everyone was leaving and Eku said goodbye to everyone. He shook Cepher's hand again and including one to Kanun, but he pulled him into a hug in the end as it made the both of them laugh. With all his courage, he gave Seristas a tight hug for he was glad to be given a chance along with a gentle petting on Serkim's head. "I also be wantin' te visit too . . ." He said out loud as he stood by Esmeralda and held her hand tightly again. It started out in horror, but Eku was glad of how it all turned out in the end.
