~::Kirijo Apartment Complex::~
[Okina City Headquarters of the 'Pursuers']

An apartment complex built and generally used by Kirijo Employees within the limits of Okina City, it has recently been cleared out (employees moved to other fair-priced housing sits around the city) and re-purposed for the use of a team of persona-users intent on contending with the darkness besieging the center of Japan's so-called 'Supernatural Hotbed'. Now, having the highest-tech shadow-detection and internal monitoring systems (similar to those of the Iwatodai Dormitory) installed in the building, and a team of select warriors installed within its confines to carry out operations within the city, the Apartment Complex has become something of a dormitory for those who partake in the project.

House to the Okina City Persona-Using Team, otherwise known as the 'Pursuers of the Shadows' or 'The Okina Pursuers', the apartment complex contains a lobby on the first floor with an office and room for the dormitory's manager, a second floor for the males of the team, the third floor for the females of the team, and the top floor for a secure meeting and monitoring room, with a secondary office and bedroom for the team's adult supervisor.

Though no supervisor has been appointed yet, it is expected they will be shortly. Until then, Haruto Mashiba remains in charge of the team's actions and deployment, in the event of a shadow or similar incursion into the greater Okina City region.

Lira Chronicle, the Necromancer

It was only evening in Japan, but the light in one of the rooms of the Kirijo dormitory was off... despite the fact that it was occupied. Even more than that, the sole window of the room had had a thick cloth hung over it in the best approximation of a blackout shade - there would be time enough for a real one later. Maybe. Adding to the absurdity, a similarly interim cover had been placed to block any light coming in from the door, and all of the electronics, save one, had been turned off.

A lone girl sat on the bed, covered by a massive comforter, so that only a tiny bit of her face could be seen. All the light that illuminated the room came from a television sitting in the corner, and if anybody had bothered to take off the girl's headphones, then they would have heard screams and the splat of blood hitting the walls. Indeed, the girl was watching horror movies, alone, in as dark a room as she could possibly manage with what she had on her.

There were many reasons that people hid from others, and in this case, the television couldn't see the tears slowly moving down her cheeks... or feel the chill that had nothing at all to do with the temperature of the room or the number of blankets she was hiding under.

"Underwear ironed and folded? Check. Clothes pressed and hung up? Check. Everything unpacked from traveling? Check. Alright, everything is settled and all is in order!" The boy said with a voice of authority. The room that surrounded him was in pristine condition, with everything in perfect order and neat enough that it could be fresh out of a magazine. Ishimaru then got up, and had turned on the television to see what was the daily forecast. Once he had turned it on, a news anchor had was just starting to go over the area of Okina. "For Okina, the weather shows that tomorrow brings light clouds with a slight chance of rain..." Immediately after they where finished going over the weather of Okina, Ishimaru turned off the television and stretched out, happy that all of his organization and checklist has been filled out.

Haruto Mashiba, Dashing Rogue and Mysterious Fool
"...The silence echoes through me, like the voices of the ones I've lost. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."

In the dark of night, they said that the walls could whisper...the voices of those you missed, the thoughts that you tried to keep hidden, they had a way of creeping out when you were alone, when there was nothing else to keep your mind occupied. People dealt with the whispers in different ways; some drank alcohol until the voices stopped and were replaced with an empty numbness, others might curl up in the darkness and simply let the voices wash over them like some kind of tide until it drowned them. Haruto liked to deal with the quiet and the whispering walls in his own way; an open door let the air flow smoothly through the halls and into his room, carrying the tune of a guitar that had once belonged to an important friend out into the open for everyone to hear. The second floor of the newly-repurposed apartment complex and much of the third could likely hear the wafting music, the faint plucking of strings in a calming tune. Nothing in the weeks since the massacre had done enough to quiet the unwelcome voices quite like the sound of music. It reminded him of the few practices that they had had together as their band slowly came together...new instruments, new sounds as each member of their team became a part of them. The guitar had belonged to Yamato, the first and best friend that Haruto had made during his time in the resort city of Iwadate. He had been one of the first ones lost...but remembering his friendship now, how much they had done together, it was strangely one of the things that made him miss all that he had lost less. With this music, it was almost as though his friends were still there...right beside him.

The image of their smiles inside of his mind turned an idle calm into the faintest of nostalgic grins...his silver ear-stud shimmering in the moonlight pouring in from beyond the window.

"She's up all night, 'til the sun..." his voice hummed low, a slow and acoustic thrum reverberating throughout the room, "...I'm up all night to get some..." His lips curled slightly into the tiniest of coy smiles, talented fingers playing along the strings of his guitar, eyes half-closed in the dimly lit room as he played. "She's up all night for good fun..." the song continued as he pictured in his mind the mission that still lay before them, letting it all fade to white before he went too far down that rabbit hole of vengeance for one night, "...I'm up all night to get lucky."

...All right, so maybe it wasn't the most meaningful of songs. But who ever said being a little silly wouldn't help a man forget?

"Do you have any idea of what time it is?" A voice rose above the guitar notes: a pinkette with an amused smile on her face, despite the initial bite to her words. She was leaning on the door frame, and for a moment she had just been tempted to just watch him play guitar for a bit. It...had been a while since they've done something like that. Too long... And, well, they would never be able to repeat it. Listening to the music from her room awoken something inside of her she had thought to be dead, and she followed it just like that, almost like it was luring her back to better times. Times with the team...when they had formed the band, and practiced for a few times. They had been terrible at it at first, too. Not individually, since they did have experience with their instruments, but... as a whole...they just couldn't make it sound good. She remembered the bickering, and the smartass answers coming from Yamato or Excal. And surely she hadn't been all that ladylike back then either. They had gotten better though...Just like they had gotten better at getting along, and at being a team. Remembering brought her a bittersweet feeling...it made her smile, but...remembering them was still so painful.

Yes, she had been tempted to be an unseen spectator, just let herself go with the music...until he began singing that silly song.

Pushing herself off the frame of the door, the pinkette took a few steps inside of the room, a small melodic chuckle rumbling at the back of her throat. "People might be trying to relax and rest, you know? And here you are playing this silly song. Really? Out of all the ones you could have chosen..." Without waiting to be invited inside, Noelle sat on the bed, right beside him, if only leaning against him a bit. He had a way of making her feel safe, like a calming wave soothing her troubled mind. Sky-blue eyes looked at cobalt ones with a playful glint, a warm smile curling on her lips. "Though...not bad at all." Another chuckle escaped her, followed by a little sigh. If anyone could read her, that was him, and he probably would know that, just like him and most of the people there, were trying to find some kind of peace from the thoughts of revenge or lost friends. "May I?" the pinkette asked, brushing the fingers slowly over the strings of the guitar. "It's been a while, but... I think I can still remember a few songs."

"...The silence echoes through me, like the voices of the ones I've lost. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."

Singing was an outlet, for certain, but there was at least one sound available in the dormitory that was far more relaxing to the young man from Iwadate that had gone through so much to end up here in Okina City now, staying in the apartment complex funded by the mysterious Kirijo Corporation. And that sound was now chiding him from the doorway, teasing him about the hour and his unique choice of songs to sing for those people in the dormitory to hear...it was the voice of Noelle Everett, the girl who had struck him with a volleyball on his very first day at Shirokidan High School, and whom he had spent much of his time there coming to know, to care for...and to love. Had he been expecting her to join him? Not necessarily, but there wouldn't be a shred of truth to it if he said he hadn't held out the faintest of hopes of luring her in. There was a reason he had chosen the first door on the floor...just as there was a reason she had chosen the first on hers, closest to the stairs that connected them. She was one of the only people that he had managed to save...one of the most important people to him...and when the whispers in the room became louder, it was her voice that could put them back to sleep. And if his choice of songs could bring that little smile back to her face, he'd be happy to keep on singing them.

"And why not that song? I find it to be very relaxing," the corner of his lips tilted faintly as she stepped into the room, knowing that his objections were just as silly as his choice of songs. But he had always been a bit of an unusual character, a fan of punk and electronica music, and if his unusual sense of humor (and taste in music) could elicit this lighter air about her that had become all-too-faint in the month that had followed the most significant event of their lives, he was all too happy to oblige. Even if it left her questioning both his sanity and her own, for being with him. "It's all yours," the young man offered, a glint within the single eye not covered by a long bang, extending his hands with the guitar inside of them to the lovely pinkette who had moved to lean close against his side, "...If you think you can entertain the dorm better than Mashiba's Punk Radio, that is. And you're not worried about waking people anymore." His shoulder gently bumped against hers just once, teasing...lightheartedness that was a rarity in the dormitory, and like all of its kind, tinged with the faintest hints of the lingering sadness that was as much a part of them now as anything else.

"...And if you remember how to play. I can think of a few songs, but you'll have to dazzle me if you want a duet," his eyes shifted towards the open door once, wondering if it wouldn't have been better now to close it...but deciding against it after a beat. They had taken more than enough time to mourn alone this past month, but now they had a job to do. The time had come to move forward, to work towards the future without forgetting the cost of reaching this far. It was time to form a new band...otherwise, their friends would never be able to rest, wherever they had gone...

She scoffed, but there was a warm smile tugging at the corner of her lips. He had always been able to make her smile, to keep her afloat despite the ocean of despair that threatened to drown her. He was her lifesaver, in more than one way. And for that she was eternally grateful. "Thanks," the girl answered as she took the guitar with most care, almost as if afraid it would break if handled too roughly. Almost as if she expected Yamato to appear out of thin air to chide her about taking his things. But well...at least she hoped he approved of this. Fingers instantly settled on the correct way, out of memory...as if falling back to a comfortable place they hadn't visited for so long. They touched the strings, and a low vibrating noise floated to the air, returning to silence after a moment. Her gaze returned to Haruto, eyebrows arched in a slight challenge, for once eyes reflecting the fire that had been so common not but a few months ago...before all of this had happened.

"Oh I know I can~" Noelle winked at him, a little playful smile on her lips "And you know what...yeah, screw them." A small chuckle left her lips as she felt the little playful bump...returning it if only a bit stronger, before lips pressed just faintly on his cheek. "And now, watch and learn." Fingers moved, following a slow rhythm as a melody strung together. Eyes closed, the girl focusing completely on the notes and the sound coming from the string instrument. "In you and I...there's a new land...." Came the soft voice, light and sweet, if only a little melancholic. "...Angels in flight...My sanctuary, my sanctuary yeah~" It was only then that she really realized how much she had missed playing...how much she had missed all of this. "...Where fears and lies melts away..."

Baby blues flickered open once more, a smile shyly curling on her lips. Fingers following the same melody, even if she had stopped singing. "You know... this brings back memories." Good memories...that perhaps she didn't want to remember. But...if she didn't remember her friends by the time they had spent together...how would she honor them? They deserved being remembered, didn't they? That's...the least she could do at the moment. Later on, though... "Remember the talent show?"

~Shinpachi Saito, Master of the Dark Persona~

Saitou cracked another egg, thumbs gouging into the open shell and releasing the goopy contents into the bowl as he idled away his time making lunch for everyone tomorrow, all the while listening to the bustle coming from a certain someone's room with amusement. It became a habit for him to put together lunches after they first arrived in this new dorm, where the others were still getting settled in. It helped him clear his head and think about things, and he also hoped it offered a sense of stability; everyone still seemed to be dealing with their own nightmares from Iwadate, and he planned to do what he could to help the living put the past behind them. In fact the reason he usually chose evenings to come down to the kitchen to prepare food lay in the quiet that tended to spread across the building at the time, and the way it seemed to have a heavy impact at Haruto Mashiba's heart. Sometimes the Mysterious Fool came into the lobby, and the two would talk like old times, or he might steal an egg roll or two meant for tomorrow's lunches. Today it seemed he was in a slightly more somber mood, made obvious by his insistence on playing the old relic of a guitar he'd received from Yamato. Quick to the scene was Noelle however, and the new song drifting from the open doors suggested that both of them were alright, at least for now...and that was enough to ease Saitou's worries, at least.

"Just like you to leave a job half finished..." Saitou mumbled, thinking back on Yamato and their old competitive rivalry. Normally when Saitou tried to leave people in his dust, it worked, but somehow the Ace pitcher for the Iwadate team had kept up no matter how hard he tried to leave him behind; even though he'd been the second guy to smoke Yamato's fastball on just the second day. The first was currently getting a lecture about musical harmony nearby, of course. But when the two had wound up with Personas, and two completely different ideologies...even then Yamato never hesitated in crawling up to the mountain top, to overcome any challenges Saitou and the others threw his way. Even though Saitou kept overcoming him, with Haruto pulling his team forward and Yamato's undefeatable spirit, there'd never been a moment to pause between the two groups. And now...'Ha.' Saitou sighed, although a wary smile appeared. 'I guess you can still get to me even now, hm?' Even if he knew he couldn't bring Yamato back, that didn't mean he wouldn't do it in a flash...who else was going to lose to him in the Iwadate Crab Shack's All You Can Eat Crab Hour? They called it 'The Crustation filled with frustration!', and some said nearby Inaba had a similarly impossible challenge...but even if that was true, it was doubtful Saitou'd give it a try. Not this time, when there weren't as many people to compete against...

"Umeboshi's ready." Saitou turned and set a tray of the small, strange things on the counter behind him before turning back to the thickening eggs, which he planned to add the final ingredients to and then finish just as quickly.

Haruto Mashiba, Dashing Rogue and Mysterious Fool
"...The silence echoes through me, like the voices of the ones I've lost. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."

'Screw them.' the pinkette had smiled and shot back at him, and in that moment it almost felt as though everything was all right again. It was almost as though they hadn't lost everything, their old lives and their old friends, their mission into the cave they called Yomi, and so very much more. Her fingers found their way to the strings of his friend's guitar, and in a few moments the music was wafting through the apartment complex for everyone to hear, a bit melancholic, albeit beautiful enough that anybody listening could sense the talent of the girl behind the song. She had always been an important part of their musical ensemble, to the spirit of their group and the indomitable sense they had about them. She could let out a cry and unleash a look that would make a Soul Beast shiver in place, and she could stand at the front of their group and play like nobody was watching. It was different now...when there was no one left to watch them. That empty feeling as only she was left playing could not be entirely ignored...but that she had the spirit to stand again, to play again, at all was enough to inspire hope in the young man with a faint flicker of mischief sparkling in his eye once more.

It brought back memories, all right. And only now was he able to recall them, for if not the first time then damn close, with more than grief...but with a hint of nostalgia. And hope...

"You mean the night our band's music wiped the floor with Saito's team?" the young man raised an eyebrow in amusement, hoping that the ease in his tone would help to relieve some of the weight that seemed to settle over her when she thought back to that day and their missing friends. "I mean, sure...a dramatic reenactment of the death of Yukimura Sanada is original, but they overlooked the most important point...Saito cannot act," his head dropped back as if thinking lazily, eyes gazing at the ceiling above him, lips curling into the faintest of amused smiles, "At least we were able to talk Yamato out of that dramatic poetry reading from the Book of the Imagawa. Fun as it would have been to watch him flounder, it wouldn't have been half as stylish as 'The Mashiba Punk Experience'." The punchline to that, of course, was that they never actually had chosen a name for their band...many had been bandied about: 'Grains of White Sand', 'Shirokidan Starship Express', 'Hunters of the Sea Beast', and 'Yamato Imagawa and His Humble Servants' being among the most memorable of the suggested names. Of course, Haruto's favorite had been his own...'The Mashiba Punk Experience'...naturally, however, it had been shot down in short order like all the rest.

Oh yes, this brought back memories.

"...We're going to be all right here," his voice pierced the night after a few silent moments, a sudden change in atmosphere accompanied by a tinge of hopefulness in the voice, this easy little smile not-so-different from the confident ones he used to show her in the days that they first met curling at the corner of his lips. His fingers found her own on the lower part of the guitar and he covered them gently, squeezing only once in comfort before letting them go. "Though I will miss watching you DESTROY people on the beach volleyball court..." he added after a beat, dropping back onto the bed with this silly nostalgic expression, as if remembering a particularly lovely memory, "...those bikini uniforms..." He whistled in appreciation at that...the faint scent of his most beloved food reaching his nose from the bottom of the stairs perking him up all the more.

Saito was making umeboshi for tomorrow? Well, they wouldn't miss it if just one...or two or three or more...of those came up missing before morning, right?

With everything in order and set out pristinely, and with the weather observed and knowing what tomorrow may ensue, Ishimaru had grabbed his white bento box and started walking downstairs. Along the way, he had heard that someone had made umeboshi, he was considerably grateful that there was someone else among the group that helped out with fixing food that others could choose to have. Having arrived on the ground floor, Ishimaru had saw that Saito-san was up preparing food. Being the polite person he was, he bowed towards Saito-san and spoke in a proud voice "Good Evening, Saito-san. Would you mind if I used some of your umeboshi to make some onigiri for lunch tomorrow?" He knew that whenever you were asking someone else for their ingredients, it was proper to ask first, and not just take the ingredients.

"Only if you want to risk Haruto's wrath. I'm just finishing up some egg rolls, and the boxes are already packed with rice, slices of pork, and noodles. I don't think there will be much call for onigiri." Saitou explained, laying the eggs flat across the counter top as he finished. He quickly reached into the bowl nearby and pulled out a mixture of bits of pork, vegetables and shredded cheese that he'd prepared before hand, sprinkling them onto the pancake of an egg before rolling it up and tucking in the corners. What went in egg rolls varied a bit, but Saitou took a traditional 'dash of everything' approach, and it seemed to work out alright for the team so far. Saitou turned and glanced over his shoulder at Ishimaru, pausing before finally sighing in a bit of relent. "There are probably a few extra. But like I said, if Haruto catches you then I can't be held responsible." Saitou slipped the egg rolls into each team member's lunch boxes in turn, before stacking them up so that they would be ready to go tomorrow. He noted the music was gone now, meaning the two must have been talking, or getting ready to lay down...or something, he couldn't say.

Lira Chronicle, the Necromancer

Even through the doorways, the walls, and the headphones, a little bit of sound could still penetrate. Of course, it wasn't too hard to ignore most of it, considering how she'd turned the volume up louder than she really should have and was trying to enjoy the cheesy sound-effects, but... sigh. For just a moment, Lira glanced towards the door, then to the scythe that was hanging up on the wall. Dragging that around had been a right pain, and more than a few people in her old city had thought she was involved with a movie shoot of some kind, since she'd often hidden it within a box... or just left it in the cave. That had worked, too, but she felt weird knowing it was just sitting somewhere. "..."

One hand came up and paused the movie as, with only a bit of focus, the gentle tunes of a song floated though her mind.

All our times have come~
Here but now they're gone~
Seasons don't fear the Reaper~
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain~
We can be like they are~
Come on baby... Don't fear the Reaper~

For just a few moments, a cloaked and hooded figure floated in the air in front of her. Lira smiled slightly. "...Thanks, Grimm." she whispered. "I'm better now." It wasn't perfect, but... if nothing else, she was better than before.

"Yes! He was sooooo mad!" Before she knew it, Noelle was giggling and laughing (perhaps just a tad too loud), remembering that night. It was one of those memories she had thought she had forgotten; a memory with her friends...when everything had been well and fine. They had been regular teenagers and students back then...getting excited...getting nervous...just being silly. She remembered she had been hesitant about their number at the talent show, especially more so after seeing something as serious and epic as Saito's group show. She remembered thinking she had no idea how she had agreed to participating in such thing. She remembered Yamato being completely confident, Excal just going on with it, Ryohei just shrugging it off, acting too cool to care... Mizu being weird like always, going on and on how they should've done a play about a girl in search of her archnemesis MOOOOOOOONNNNNNSSSSSSTTTRRROOO. They had all been different...but they had all always gone along with Haruto's ideas. He was their leader after all... and how she had thought it to be a good idea back then? Who knew... In the end they had won though, as surprising as that had sounded.

"And he was such a sore loser about it too," she giggled, brushing a small tear from her eye for laughing too much. "Oh yes... and good thing we did. Just imagine Yamato doing something like that..." Another chuckle, followed by a small sigh. The smile on her face didn't fade though, only becoming softer, the pinkette losing herself in good memories. If anything, she felt like an old lady remembering better times. In a way...that was what she really was.

The silence grew longer, but that didn't make her uncomfortable at all. Spending time with Haruto felt comfortable to her, if they talk or if they didn't. Silences weren't awkward with him anymore...and she really was thankful for having him there with her. When he spoke, Noelle knew she could believe him. Even if she couldn't see the ending right then...she just...believed in him. Perhaps it was a crazy faith exercise then and there, but...she knew he was right. "I know..." Her hand reached for his after he let go, linking her fingers with his, not letting go.

When he spoke next, Noelle looked at her boyfriend with a mischievous look in her gaze, a smirk curling at her lips, "Because I looked oh-so-amazing and badass the-" In a heartbeat, she was shoving him away, a pout in her face. "Oh, get out of here!" Of course she knew he was joking, and she really appreciated what he was doing. Cheering her up like that...in his own weird way. That didn't stop her from acting just a little childish as well. The pinkette crossed her arms and pouted, turning just slightly away from him. Only for a moment. "...They were kind of cute, weren't they?" she said after a moment, her blue eyes returning to his, a chuckle escaping her lips.

She missed this. But for once...she could look forward and know her friends were living in memories...and she knew that they would be happy for them. ... ... ... Or probably just be arguing about random stuff...being silly.

Lira Chronicle, the Necromancer

A bit of a rustling sound could be heard from the pantry; this part of the dorm was surprisingly occupied at the moment, really, but that was a side-concern at best for the girl who was calmly grabbing more than a few bags of snacks and stuffing them under her blanket. Why keep the blanket on? Because she was cold. Also, she wasn't entirely sure she was up to dealing with people at the moment. Haruto had a way of making people feel at ease, but Oowada? Ugh. If he loved his rules so much, all he really needed to do was get married to them already and leave everybody else in peace. Having pilfered the products she'd come down for, though, Lira turned around and began to head back towards the stairs and her waiting movies.

With an acknowledgement of what the umeboshi were used for, and not wanting to get into an argument with Mashiba-san, Ishimaru just shook his head and smiled to Saito-san's statement. "I would rather not see Mashiba-san's wrath, Saito-san, so I won't-" Ishimaru was saying before he had noticed the giant blanket lump that had moved from the pantry over towards the stairs. Immediately, he turned towards it and, with a dramatic pose similar to a famous lawyer from a popular gaming series that he had no knowledge of and he shouted loudly at it. "HOLD IT RIGHT THERE! RETURN THAT FOOD BACK!"
