Ever since the first round had begun Hakizimana had been bouncing on the sidelines, ready and waiting for his chance to give it a go. When he had joined during the last Tree Ceremony competing had been the farthest thing from his mind, but this year...
The big lug had been a tumbler from cubhood, and now he could show off his skills in front of the whole pride. Not that the vanity portion made much sense to him, but if some pretty little thing was watching, well, he wouldn't mind showing off for her!
He padded closer to the 'arena' with a wide smile on his face, eagerly awaiting his Mantis clan rival. Hakizimana had heard that it was a female, but he knew little else. Famale or male, young or old, he didn't care; hopefully she gave a good fight because she wouldn't get off easy with him!

Gosdaya had been looking forward this since...well, since as long as she could remember! She'd been born right after the last Sky Festival, and so this was her very first one, and the Sky Ceremony was so exciting. The young adult was practically bouncing as she approached, eager to get a look at the male she'd been matched with. And oh, he was big! But she wasn't worried, not her - she'd been practicing! Some of her siblings were no doubt sick of her by now, having had to endure countless practice bouts, but someone had to represent their family! It was pathetic that no Atadiusti had even participated in a Sky Ceremony until now. She fully intended to make up for that.
She flashed him a grin as she sized him up, tail lashing nonstop behind her. He was quite a bit bigger than her - no surprise there, though she wasn't as small as some Ela'wadiyi - but she could handle him, she was sure of it!

HP: 24 Hit: Half Gosdaya danced in a wide half-circle, movement that was less strategy and more uncontainable excitement with a side of showing off. Her stature wasn't impressive, but she was nimble, and she was certain that would give her an advantage. He might not know it yet, but he was so in for it.
With a wiggle of her tail, the lioness sprang at her opponent like one cub pouncing on another.

HP: 23 Hit: Half Ah-ha! She was just as eager for this as he was. Brilliant! Hakizimana couldn't look less like an excitable cub at that moment, even as he readied himself for her attack. What she had in agility he held in form and strength, something his brother had scoffed at when he said it would still be important in the pacifistic clan.
He took her hit, batted one of his own and bounced around her.
