((Please reply whenever you can. It will not be one at a time, so hopefully it doesn't take too long to finish everything.

You will post your lion approaching Skan Kanati. (include their full name!) He or she will need to offer something small, like a bit of hair. Skan will toss it into a pile of smoldering herbs and plants, and from the way the smoke swirls, he will determine what clan they will be. I will roll in the same post as he does this (probably a cookie-cutter post, but I will do my best to make each post unique for you), and so you will see what clan your lion goes into. If you want to rp a response to this, feel free to do so!

The dice:
1. Bird
2. Earth
3. Mantis
4. Shadow
5. Sky
6. Wolf

If you have any questions, please PM Ecavi or Safaia.))

Skan awaited the newest members of the Ela'wadiyi pride. He reclined in a shallow dip in the earth, a small smoldering pile of herbs ready to judge the heart and soul of those who would approach them. From this, he would find out their true place in life, and send them to their clan.

User ImageThis was it. Turu was taking a huge step in order to be with the love of his life. He pawed the ground nervously and looked around at the other lions here. Turu had never done this before and he hoped clan life would be much better than that of the rogue. Turu looked down at his sacrifice, Xerxes had told him that he had to bring something to offer up to the fire. Just goes to show he would have been lost without her. Turu grunted as he came closer to Skan Kanati, " I am Turu." He spoke in a monotone voice. " I come to you for acceptance into your homeland. I wish to spend the rest of my life here with my mate Xerxes who is a member already in the wolf clan." He paused and blinked awaiting the leaders answer. That was the most he had talked to another in a while... well other than Xerxes. " I have a necklace, one that was gifted to me from my brother." It saddened him that he would lose something that symbolized family, but this was his chance to start anew life.

((I don't need a roll as he has come here to be with his lifemate--Xerxes who is in Wolf clan~))

A rather plain lioness quietly joined the group gathering around Skan Kanati. What she had thought would be a simple affair had nearly caused the lioness to fret herself into distress. Nilima Naira had spent a whole day trying to figure out what would be best to offer. Hundreds of things had crossed her mind, but none of them seemed right. She had had to stop and really consider what she was doing. Leaving her old life of loneliness and wandering behind her and beginning fresh with new friends.

Her light blue eyes watched as others went ahead and made their offerings. With a deep breath she felt the moment was right and approached. She laid a twisted tuff of fur from her tail on the ground. "I have been a rogue my whole life. There is nothing that I can truly call my own except me. I, Nilima Naira, offer this of my fur." She bowed her head and waited for what was to come.

User Image She was... Nervous. Meztli would be somewhat close to her sister, yes, but she was still... Afraid. She wasn't even sure why. Maybe it was because they were joining a pride... Together... Sure, her cubs had gone their own way... One of her two daughters had joined another lion in his journey, a strong lion who could protect her... She had to stop, humor chasing her jitters away. No, Citlali didn't NEED to be protected, Meztli had raised her better than THAT. Her sons, too, had found a home amid the rebirth of an old pride, the Mistweavers, though now they went by the name Mistwalkers. Minoru wouldn't go there, afraid of how they'd react to the notion of what his father was. She'd gotten over it, and followed word from his half-sister to this new land that worked well with his need to wander. It also placed her solidly near Nenetl, something she'd heard about from Minoru's nephews. She looked at Minoru, smiling a bit. "You ready?"

User Image Like Meztli, Minoru was a bit nervous. He hadn't truly joined a pride in his life before. His sister had insisted... What was Kohpi up to, anyway? But truly... He was curious. The nerves he was feeling were a good kind, excitement. When he'd run into his nephew's clan, Dongo had told him about the Ela'wadiyi's ways, how the clans moved around from place to place along known routes, not staying in one place TOO long. It appealed to him. The Jini-msemi now living on the mountain near by had been a boon to draw Meztli in with him. And now here they were, facing Skan Kanati, the pride's leader. He smiled at Meztli, nodding. "I'm ready." He turned, stepping up to the lion. He couldn't call Skan old, he had to be younger than Minoru was. He offered some of his own hair mixed with Meztli's to the lion. "Wanidatsi Skan, we have nothing more to offer to you than our own hair to find what path we will follow."

"Together."

User Image Poa had come to the place hoping to learn more about their way of life, and had ended up falling so in love with the culture that he simply didn't wish to leave. It was very different from his former home, as he had once lived by the ocean, but it still had the same family feel of a pride as he had grown so familiar with in the past. He was not suited to be on his own, and he longed for a place where he could settle down and have a real family. not that he had hated his life, but he had never met his mother. That seemed... wrong. His cubs, should he have them, would not know that sadness. And he felt he had finally found a new place to make his dreams a reality. While it would never replace the home he had lost, it was still a wonderful place in its own right.

He approached Skan Kanati with a warm smile, offering him a strand of his mane. "My name is Poa," he said lightly, "I am happy to be here."

------------------------------------

User Image This was all so exciting!

A place to learn and grow, with no worried that the lions around her might end up being threats. Or a greatly decreased worry, anyway. She wasn't like her mighty father- she wasn't a warrior who could spend her time on her own. She needed a home. Lions to bond with. Lions to learn from.

When she had found the pride, she had immediately become drawn to it. A place where their own fur told endless stories? It was something she could not begin to comprehend, but she deeply wished to learn. She wanted to understand their tales as well, and perhaps show off some of her own. It was all so fascinating. So much like a home she could really belong in. As she approached Skan as the others before her had, she felt a surge of nervousness flow through her. Carefully, she offered him a small, dried leaf. One of a few she had taken from her old den, to remind herself of her beloved parents and family. "Hello," she offered with a bow of her head, "my name is Ujabari, and this is what I have to offer you. A small piece of my former home."

Luti

A home, finally after weeks of wandering she had found one. Once the petite lioness had her whole life planned out for her, always under the care of others, but now…well now she was finding out what it was like to walk with her own paws, her own choice. Everything was new, but still even with freedom the lingering sorrow of partings kept her heart heavy. Luti had nearly forgotten what it was like to laugh…to love.

These mountains though had inspired her. When she had walked into the pride’s territory by accident that time the rising beams of the sun had touched a part of her heart which she thought was long forgotten. As a cub she had wondered about life like this…a place high up in the clouds where she could do as she wished. There was no pressure to please others, but rather she could choose to help out of her own will. She was nervous though, oh so nervous, about this first true decision for her life. This place…she was really going to make a home here. This was where she would live if they accepted her.

Bowing her head Luti spoke quietly and gracefully, “My name is Lutifiya and I wish to live here and,” She dropped her small offering, torn feathers from a broken necklace which held pieces of her mane that had been caught in the strands, “This piece of my old life is my offering.”

(No roll since plots should have her in the bird clan. c: )

The first lion to approach the wanidatsi seemed courageous enough. Skan's vivid green eyes glanced up towards this newcomer, his neutral colours only betrayed by vividly purple forepaws.

"Your sacrifice, something that means much to you, will determine what clan you reside in," Skan replied in a cool tone. "If your heart resides in the right place, then you will remain here as part of the Ela'wadiyi."

Skan took the necklace from Turu, placing it on the smouldering pile of herbs. The piece stubbornly resisted burning, but there was still a sense of loss as it curled and hardened against the heat. Swirls of smoke shadowed Skan's face from Turu's. Only the wanidatsi could read what the smoke said, but it was always true.

"Your heart does not lie. Into the wolf clan you go," Skan said with a bow of his head as the smoke dissipated.

Skan waited patiently as the next lioness approached. He shifted in his position a bit, making sure that he was comfortable, and that the smoke wasn't all blowing towards him. Thankfully, a mostly calm air hung around the tree ceremony, and as such, it was pleasant. Sometimes the herbs would lick up into a flame, and Skan kept the hungry pile from getting too greedy. There were plenty more sacrifices to be made, for those who wanted a new future.

"Fur is the truest part of one's self. Thank you." Skan took the fur carefully, making sure that none of it was lost before it was ready to be placed. He let it fall onto the herb pile, the hair curling up quickly and appearing to dissolve from the heat. There were hints of where she should be in the smoke, but Skan let what he saw guide him towards where she should be. A new little root for the Ela'wadiyi.

"Nilima Naira, your home is with the Mantis clan, to be pard of the Ela'wadiyi."

Exhaling as the lioness left, Skan studied the next pair that approached him. Clearly together, and it seemed like there was a history between the two, as well. Hm.

Skan nodded to the two of them as they spoke to him, acknowledging their offering to him. "A path will be showed to me, and I will guide you both down to it."

With that, he let the combined pile of fur settle on the herbs, twisting together as they burned up in the flames. More smoke was made this time than last, presumably because there was more fur. Perhaps because there was more story to tell as well. Bits and pieces, combined with Skan's Seer abilities, gave him a good idea as to where they should reside.

"The Earth clan is where you will begin your new journey in life. I hope you will be happy there, as the clan is awaiting your company."

Okay, this didn't seem so hard! He had been told to approach the big yellow lion, whose fur was literally covered with tattoos (and hadn't that been something to learn of!) and offer his name and a token for the big guy to burn and, uh, interpret. He was called the Wanidatsi (and hoo boy that was such a mouthful!) and there was some spiritual mumbo jumbo mixed in that somehow this would tell him which Clan Dever should be in.

Simple stuff, right?

He waited until some of the most eager lions and lionesses had gone already, the better to prepare himself. Then the golden lion stepped forth.

"Uh...hi. I'm Dever, and you know, I was a rogue, but living with a pride seems like a great idea. More support structure, less loneliness, and double points that the Clans roam around the territory, so less boredom than most prides!"

Hmm...didn't look like the Wani...Wan...whatever his title or name was was impressed. Better just go back to the script. Dever pulled out a bit of scraggly brush.

"This is from the bush I used to sleep under. During the day, when it was really hot out. I'd dig a hollow underneath and then I'd sleep in the shade. At least, until some leopard decided to pull me out..."

The younger lion trailed off, aware that he was just babbling now.

The next lion that approached seemed to shine like the sun. It surprised Skan a bit, but he welcomed it. This was something they needed....and part of him felt that his disposition may become infectious. He didn't mind.

"Welcome, Poa," Skan began. "I can tell that you want to be here, and home is where it is." He read the smoke trails that came from Poa's offering of mane, and was happy to see it was as bright as he thought. "Your home is within the Shadow Clan, and I welcome you to Ela'wadiyi."

Nilima smiled at his soft words. It somehow made her feel better about her offering. She watched the smoke closely but didn't see more than simple wisps of smoke. However, Skan saw something more. Her clan.

"Mantis. Thank you." She gave a bow and moved out of the way for the next lion.

Taking a moment to replenish the herbs on the pile, he was prepared for the next lion to approach. A female, who seemed quite excited to see what would happen. Well, it seemed like there were quite a few excited new members, a bit of a change from seeing some melancholy ones in the past.

"Welcome," he said, taking the leaf from her. It felt aged, like some antique thing she had held for some time. This leaf had seen much of her past, her adventures, and would lead the way to her future. The heat from the herbs consumed it right up, and the thin smoke trail that twisted its way up the the sky was leading him to tell here where her next step would be.

"Ujabari, your gift has told me that your new future and home is in the Bird Clan. I welcome you into it."

One step at a time. That was all it took to lay down a new life here, to start from scratch and become part of the Ela'wadiyi. Skan sort of understood how different some of their customs were compared to the outside world, but part of him didn't understand how it worked out there either. This was his home, and he just felt that this is how it should be.

The stories that came from ex-rogues always surprised him, those who felt like sharing with him. This ceremony always told him bit and pieces of a new member's past, but part of him figured that was is Seer abilities too. He never shared what he saw, considering it too personal to go outside of the bounds of this ceremony. Unless he saw a direct thread, he merely let the past be the past.

The next lions to approach was quiet, but her movement was smooth. Her offering was a simple one, a piece of jewelry that had clearly been held for some time. He nodded to the lioness, shifting it into the herbs. It sparked there, as if it wished to burn quicker than it was. Skan found this interesting, but he had to read the smoke; the answered lied there. Within it he saw wings, flying upwards, searching for freedom.

"The bird clan is where you fit in best, Lutifiya, and that is where you shall call home from now on," he answered with a soft smile.
