successIsmene had failed at catching herself a Uruu, twice now, and she pretty sad. She couldn't believe that she failed twice. She had done the research and still didn't catch one, however the second time wasn't really her fault. But that was okay, she already realized what she would do differently and it was her whole approach. She was trying to do things the easy way and just steal a Uruu from a farm when she needed to go out and catch a wild one for herself. She was trying to cut out the hard part, the risky part, but she would do it.
Packing a bag full of food for her and the Uruu as well as something to carry back the Uruu that she hopefully would finally be able to catch. Setting out on her journey she was focused and ready to finally do this. Ismene wasn't use to failing at the things she put her mind too, and she had some sleepless nights pouring over what she had done wrong. However she was sure that she had taken out all of the things that made her fail and that she wouldn't let it happen again.
As she got near where her books, and her father, told her wild Uruu lived she started to look around. Although she brought a bag to catch a live one, she was pretty sure if she could find an egg to bring home things would be a lot easier. Looking around she realized it was getting late and she would have to leave soon before all of a sudden she saw what she had been looking for, a nest! There was a mother Uruu but she knew that the the mother would run away from her previous experience with the animal. Walking straight up to the nest she grabbed the biggest egg she could find and put it in her bag. With a smile she turned and started home, cradling the egg against her chest. Yes she had done it the right way and now she was getting rewarded.

successOnce she was home Ismene was starting to wonder if taking an egg had been the smart choice, after all she could have just grabbed the mama Uruu. With an egg she didn't know if it would even hatch, but none the less now she had an egg so she might as well wait and see if it would hatch before assuming the worst. After reading a few books she made sure that the egg was in a safe and warm place before she sat down in the corner of her room and started to wait. As luck would have it she had only just started reading when the egg started to wobble from side to side. Abandoning the book Ismene ran over to the egg. It didn't take long for a fluffy yellow Uruu to pop out of the egg and start chirping. At first Ismene was confused, than she realized that it had to be hungry so she brought over some of the flowers that he had picked in order to feed the animal. With a smile Ismene realized that she had her very own pet!
The next few days went by pretty quickly for Ismene. When she wasn't working with her father in the shop she was in the room with her new baby Uruu. She had made it a little nest of sorts in the corner of her room which was where it slept most of the day. At first the little Uruu, who she named Fluff, seemed to be pretty weary of her, but as the days went by and she feed it each day Fluff seemed to like her more and more. Although it didn't do what she told it to, the Uruu did cuddle up to her when she was reading or laying in bed, which was what she really wanted. Ismene figured that when it got older it would listen to her better. Maybe she could even teach it to do tricks?

failIt had been a few weeks, and although Fluff loved her the Uruu was making a mess everywhere. One time Ismene thought it would be a good idea to bring it into the book shop, which might have been one of the worst ideas she had ever had. The Uruu had ate the insides of one of the books and went to the bathroom in a little corner which made the whole place smell horrible! Who knew such a bad smell could come from such a small creature. Her father had not been very happy with her, and after making Ismene clean up the mess told her that Fluff would not be allowed back into the shop unless she was properly trained.
Although it didn't seem like it, Ismene had been trying to train the animal. She tried to housebreak it so it didn't use the bathroom where ever it please, and she was also trying to teach it a few tricks. No matter what she did nothing worked, and she was reading all the books she could on it but none of them seemed to explain what she was doing wrong. One of the books she read said that Uruu's couldn't be trained, but she was determined to prove that theory wrong.
For a long time Ismene didn't give up on training Fluff, but after a while it was obvious that the Uruu was not going to listen to her. It had gotten a little bigger than when it first hatched, and it still cuddled with her a lot, but it just wouldn't behave how she want. Eventually Ismene gave in unhappily and build it a pen in her room. She had to clean the bottom a lot, but it was worth it, because now she had a friend to cuddle with her whenever she was lonely. Even if it was a disobedient friend.
