Death Hunter DEATHSWEEPER General Information The large stone cavern with the tiled floor and large yellow smiley face is likely familiar to at least several trainees, and may even feature in a few nightmares from time to time. Welcome to Deathsweeper, the training course that may only be attempted via c-type golem, and often acts as a testing ground for the Life Division's more painful creations. Stealth and detecting imminent danger are vital for Death Hunters and anyone who has to spend extended amounts of time near Caelius. The Deathsweeper chamber is full of hidden traps that only the finest of survival instincts can survive unscathed.
If you fail: you get to once again relive the sensation of dying. Painfully and sometimes quite strangely.
If you win: you have survived stepping 5 tiles into the room. Anything further is purely for peen and bragging rights.
Mechanics roll 1 d10 check for hp loss and death decide whether or not to use your bonuses if you survive, repeat. roll list: the traps are ICly constantly changing, so feel free to get creative as to what exactly those traps are! -50% HP is off your full HP, so if you hit -50% twice, then you are 100% KO'd

Bonus Mechanics This bonus is consumable. All participants get a flag, this flag will allow your character to notice something about the area they're stepping into. OOCly this means you can adjust your rolled number, up or down, by one point. Instinctive moves are used in the same manner as flags. These are stackable, so if you have 1 flag + 1 instinctive move, you can use them up in order to adjust your roll by two.
(If you roll a 1, you may not move your number down to 0, -1, or 10. And 10 cannot be adjusted to 1 or 11.)

Nevada stared at the obstacle course, and then at the group of trainee's and the golems they were bringing out. Including the ones that looked like her and another kid.
"Just waiting on someone...." Nevada said nicely, crossing her arms. She didn't know who, because damn it, she didn't actually know who would come to this.
Usually she would ask Otto to come with her for Death training but he was busy.
"Ah I don't want to do this alone though...." Maybe she could rope a random death into it.

Ripley hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but it was somewhat difficult. He had been standing nearby and watching the golems get moved about until the inevitable happened: he spotted a golem with his face and frame. That was enough for him it seemed, and in his attempt to ignore the lookalike he had no choice but to listen in on the woman who was talking to herself.
"Would you mind if I joined you, then? I haven't done this before." The Trainee had no qualms about admitting he was a newbie; everyone had to start somewhere, after all. As he stepped a little closer to avoid seeming rude, he finally got a better look at her, and naturally recognized her immediately. This was Abbi's friend, and the one who seemed particularly cold to a couple of his apparent 'friends'. Curious.
"Unless you'd prefer someone with more experience?" Which he wouldn't blame her, really.

Nevada was still mumbling to herself when Ripley happened upon her, her head turning up a bit at him. She recognized him solely for the fact that he was friends with Abbi...and Jack and Finn. And Ian and Shiloh. But Jackass and Finnass, the matching pair of asses.
"Hi." she smiled warmly at him regardless, not really judgemental of his choice of friends. Ian was one of her best friends, and he still managed to talk to Finn and Jack. "I don't mind at all..." her smile turned coy as she tipped her chin, "I'm a mist huntress so I haven't done this training either but..."
She blinked and shook her head.
"Can't have experience until you start doing the training's right?" She stretched, "Well if your down handsome, I am. Hope I don't get you killed." She teased. "I'm Nevada, but I think we've met before...Um...Ian calls you Ripples?"

"Likewise." While she was right, he couldn't really get experience without actually trying, he still hoped he wouldn't be too much of a hindrance. After all, she may be new to this training, but who knows what else she had been through, or for how long she had been in service here.
"Otto calls me Ripples. Ian calls me Sammy. My actual name is Ripley. Ripley Crowell." He flinched again, though this time it was because he was pre-emptively expecting another believe it or not joke. "Nice to meet you. Officially." For a moment he held out a gloved hand, intent to shake hers. When that was finished he took his hand back, and cast a glance to the golems that looked too much like them.
"How does this one work? Do we pilot those things?" From a philosophical standpoint, it was weird.nyxtsuki moon I FORGOT TO QUOTE YOU AHHHHH

"Oh Otto does??" She smiled, thinking of the death hunter. "I love Otto, he's such a cutie." And one of the more closer of her friends. So Otto called him ripples, Ian called him Sammy and his name was Ripley...Ripley like...
"I like Ripley...if you were thinking I was going to come up with a nickname. I'm not so creative so you get...Handsome." She waved her hand, "Though truth be told, this island is full of handsomes. Like the pods breed handsome and gorgeous inhabitants."
She took his hand gently, shaking and looking to the golems.
"If you remember your trials, it's pretty much like that. We still feel everything." She hesitated before leading him to the room where the pods for golem transference was. "I guess we'll find out more when we get into the training segment..." She placed herself in the pod...
and woke up in the golem. It was stiff to move in at first, then warmed to her until it felt like her own skin. Which was also freaky as ******** ready Ripley?" She waited for response from the other golem.

"You know Otto too, eh? Did you know him from before all this?" Because, if she did, perhaps her opinion of him would change, though it might not. Otto now wasn't as different as Otto then, after all. She liked his name, and that made him smile. The smile got even wider as she refused any Believe it or Not jokes. Nevada was quickly making her way into his favourite book.
"Please, please just call me Ripley. You have no idea how happy that'll make me." People tended to refuse to call him that, which made him incredibly sad as it was his actual name. He followed her to the transference room, listening to her instructions and trying very hard to think back on what she was describing. In the end he ended up nodding along, and before he knew it, he was in his golem.
Now there was a feeling he didn't think he'd ever get used to.
It was him, but it certainly wasn't. The motions felt familiar and yet alien. Nothing made sense.
"Yeah. Ready as I'll ever be~" He took a step forward, unaware that he was holding his breath. "Well, age before beauty, I guess." He was about to step onto his first tile...but stopped just before he put his foot on it. Something in his head hissed that it was wrong, so he chose the one next to it. Something horrible crashed into him, spinning blades hacking their way through the golem's flesh, enough to make him scream in pain.
She wasn't kidding. He felt everything.Status Step: 1 USING INSTINCTIVE MOVE HP: 20/40 Flags: 1 / 1 Instinctive moves: 0 / 1

"Before the Island? No I didn't. I use to have a crush on him..." She smiled thoughtfully, "He's very sweet, and very kind. It's why we are such close friends right now. He's told me some of his past stuff, I've told him some of mine...Now we're just friends." She smiled at Ripley, "Do you know him before the Island?" Was Ripley like a Jack and Finn situation? Friends before here?
"Ripley it is." She laughed, seeing his eagerness, "That or handsome." She closed her eye as the pod shut and opened again when they were in the training room.
"Don't try to think about it too much..." She moved the golem with a little more ease then Ripley, adjusting to it quickly. "Okay, right after, Jesus Ripley!" The golem almost fell apart from the slipping blades and she widened her eye looking at it.
"I'm half tempted to just stay right here!" She jumped onto the tile, Fire curling at her feet, wrapping around her golem. "s**t!" She jumped on another, looking at the golems burned flesh and then up to Ripley.

"I'm very sorry." Ripley replied in a deadpan to Nevada's confession. Poor girl had a crush of Otto, of all people? The way she chose to describe him, too... "I think you and I know two very different Ottos." He murmured, not recalling the boy to be sweet or kind. With the way he was raised he knew it couldn't be helped, but still. "Yeah, our Dads were friends. I stayed with him and his Parents for four months once." There was a distinct pause. "And I helped to bury him when he died." Imagine his surprise when he met Otto here, alive and apparently ********>!" Ripley cried out, tasting blood in his mouth, which was strange because this wasn't even his mouth. "Sorry, it's just...god damn this hurts." He shook his head as if to clear his thoughts, and held the torn up arm close to his body as if to keep it from getting remotely near the flaming tile. At least her joke made him laugh.
"I can't imagine Golem tastes good anyway. I could do with some sushi, though. Or maybe a really nice, tender steak." As he spoke he eyed the tiles around him, trying to figure out what to do, and where to go. Some tiles looked okay, others were scorched in ways that just screamed they were dangerous.
Naturally, he opted for the only tile that looked untouched, and immediately regretted his decision. Something came down from the ceiling, a robotic arm that snatched him right up. The metal hand gripped tighter and tighter until the already broken golem simply popped.
Ripley woke up in the transference room with a scream.

Nevada blinked, "Sorry for what?" She waited, "Do you mean the grumpy angry kid? He's that too, and has a complex about his height. But under the grump, It's actually a down to heart kid." She waited, "He's also good at running away..." She quietly said, "and stuff, but I still like him." She laughed and waved her hand. "It must be surprising for you to see him here..." She looked over at Ripley again...
"I never had to deal with that....." She looked back, "My twin just ran away...I had to search for her...Found her here oddly enough." She watched the golem spit blood and felt a twinge of sympathy..."Just remember it isn't real. It hurts like it is but it isn't..."
and then Ripley was gone and Nevada just stared at the space.
"Well....WELL NOW WHAT DO I DO!??!"
She jumped another one and waited for death....but it did not come...
