Quote: Prompt 5: Laundry day ] It is the infamous laundry day, or well basically, the laundry machines are up and working - but as you get there of course, they miraculously break down. Now you have to do all your laundry by hand, and by hand, since the water faucets are also down, it means go to the beach, use your accumulated soap, and scrub away, while making sure mermaids don't run away with your clothes. Good luck... Saya stared at the washer machines suspiciously. She wondered why they broke now, carrying her small bag of clothes. She looked out the windows, toward the beaches and thought about it.
Really hard.
Laundry on the beaches seemed like the only idea to do at the moment. She was about to walk out, when it seemed the broken laundry machine room became occupied by another hunter. Turning around, she prepared to tell him the machines were broken.
"T-They're not working at the moment.."

Laundry, laundry, laundry.
Dorian loved laundry day. It was a weird thing to enjoy, but when you were one of the older children of . . . uh, lots, you got used to do menial tasks. Laundry day meant that he could hang out in the basement all day and just do whatever the ******** he wanted for a few hours. Also, when one of his siblings pissed him off, he'd just ruin their favourite jeans, or something.
Trouncing in to the room, he was awarded with a sweet little miss who was waiting, as if knowing he would be going there. Raising his eyebrows a little, he chewed on the unlit cigarette dangling from his lips as he tried to decipher what she had told him, kind of making a little uhhh . . . sound, before looking around her at the machines that looked like they were as stubborn as a new pair of shoes.
"Not working." He replied, his thick french accent changing the words a little, before snorting, moving the bag on his back from one shoulder to the other. "Merde, maintenant que vais-je faire." He asked himself redundantly, before looking over to her again, trying to form some kind of sentence.
"Ehhh -- laundry still got to be done. Won't .. uh.. do itself, oui?" He asked her out loud, hoping his thoughts were out there. "What are you going to do?"

"uhm-- はい!どうしおかな。。? (doushio kana?)” She said, mulling her thoughts out loud. Unfortunately, her thoughts were in a foreign language-- there was something about the male's language that triggered something in Saya. She probably didn't look at all, the japanese type, but it had been her home for awhile before she moved. She looked down, critically, at both of their laundry baskets. Her fingers linked and unlinked from each other, in thought.
"さあ、海ほうがいい。。(sa, umi hou ga ii..)”
She paused, realizing her line had been in japanese. hastily, she turned to correct herself, a sheepish grin on her face.
"The beach is probably good! Er-- is the beach okay with you?"
Should she have said "oui" at the end of her sentence? She didn't want to butcher his beautiful language. She was almost absolutely sure she would have, with one word alone.

Oh sure.
Dory had heard Japanese before - one of his little sister and he used to curl around a laptop and just watch it when he still lived in the house. But that was subtitled so really, he glazed over the words that the other hunter was saying to him, his mouth opened just a little and a small 'ahhh . . .' sound escaping.
Which, admittedly, was kind of a natural reaction for the poor man. But, he opted to smile and nod, before she finally gave him a sheepish little look. The beach? Oh! THE BEACH YES. Popping one hand in to the palm of the other, he gave her a little "oh!" look, before giving a gloved thumbs up.
"Yes. Ahh, when I was in Canada, we'd go camping, do laundry at water." He offered, going to shrug his bag again, before looking to hers, holding his hand out to offer to hold it, also. Gotta be nice, at least. "We can do it together, oui? Quel est votre nom?" He offered, before snorting at himself, still used to thinking in french, as she did, apparently, in Japanese. "Uh. Name?"

Similarly, Saya had onyl heard French in.. very little sources. She only vaguely recognized it through passing, although she did once see that French version of Beauty and the Beast.. It was a lovely film, maybe she could ask this male if he saw it later during laundry.
She looked a little surprised at his offer, before glancing back at her back. She slowly gave the bag towards him, listening to his accented english. So he had been in Canada? Like Ryan then, she silently took note.
"Together sounds fun! Company is always pleasant!" She tried to guess what his french words meant but naturally, it didn't compute with her nonexistent knowledge of the language.
"名前?あ、私がはー” She cut herself off, scrunching up her face a little bit as she struggled to remind herself, english.
"It's Saya! Sayaka Valens is the long version. What about yours?"
Unfortunately, Dory might get a nemo-surprise in the very near future.

Shuffling a little to accept the clothing bag from his partner for this . . . laundry date, he gave her a soft grin, offering to allow her to leave the room first, his arms a little tied over by his haul. But, he wouldn't complain, he was in a rather good mood, and he had a pretty girl to do his daily chores with. Everything was going to plan.
Saya, what a rather nice name, he thought a little, before giving her a little shrug. "Nice to meet you, Saya. I am Dorian Côté, everyone jus' calls me Dory, really." He offered, feeling the Disney magic already starting, deep down inside. He didn't understand the infatuation with calling him a fish, but he was starting to get used to it. Kind of. He really wasn't helping his chances with his recent over-abundance of water themed situations, but, he couldn't help that he enjoyed water. It was just . . . a coincidence of a sort.
"Are you from Japan, or somet'ing? I 'ate to be so bold, but I 'aven't really 'eard Japanese in years." Hopefully he wasn't being rude or something.

"Doryy!" Saya's eyes were sparkling so it wasn't hard to imagine what she was thinking about. Especially as she hummed the "keep on swimming" tune under her breath. She probably would have had the same excited reaction and a different song if he had been named Flounder. But who was named Flounder? Her arms swingiing excitedly at the idea of making a new friend with a cute name, she matched her steps side-by-side with him.
She glanced up in surprise at his question, reflecting that nobody had asked Saya where she was from. She didn't speak japanese often so it was no wonder, many probably assumed she was from somewhere else.
"I don't believe my ancestry comes from Japan, since I was adopted.. But a great deal of my life was there, after I moved when I was small. I grew up in Japan and I would call it home." She gave Dorian a pleasant smile, nearing the beach.
"You're french? I suspect my bloodline may run there.. or towards German but I'm not sure. How was it like, living there?" She assumed he had lived there because he seemed fluent in it but as the words tumbled out of her, she realized it may not have been the case.
