How do other writers keep their characters from driving them nuts with their incessant chattering. Lately, I keep coming across more and more characters in my head that want out into a role play. Or worse....one of my characters wants more back story time.

Whenever one of my characters go off on a weird tangent I'm usually enthralled by it.

If you have to go through it daily. It does get annoying.

I write everything down so I don't forget it. It also helps to take notes and make an outline.

I'd try that, however, one of my characters is the epitome of wrath....yeah....I don't mess with him.

Ahhh see that's the issue you put your characters on the same level as you. You're acting like their friend and equal.
However, as their creator you have the ability to rule over them and toy with their puny lives. (Can you see I subscribe to the school of ruthless dictatorship XD) If the story gets boring I highly recommend having someone lose a limb.
