It was mid morning in Trine and it was seriously threatening to rain. Luckily he didn't plan to be here long, and reports from his firelizards showed that Euclid was currently dry and fairly bright. Frowning deeply in concentration Bereck ran down his list, checking off items as he put them into the bag. A small wheel of cheese. A skin full of milk. Four large loaves of bread. Two big fat cured sausages. A carefully packed basket of eggs. Another sack was tubers and some other root vegetables.

All of these items had been picked up earlier on a trip to one of the nearby holds, he'd done enough purloining from Trine's stores when he had been too frail to move after the incident at Natai's hold. He wouldn't be accused of theft on top of dereliction of duty and whatever else they threw at him when the time came to leave.

As well as delivering some supplies Bereck felt it was high time to introduce his apprentice to the place that might well be her new home soon, and knowing that her wing had a rest day today it seemed like a good opportunity.

Sending her healer a feeling of placid affirmation, Berath reached out to her young blue friend.

Becka was busy oiling Phasianth's gear, checking over every inch of the leather to make sure Thread hadn't eaten away at anything. Thankfully it was intact. She rather enjoyed the mindless task of oiling, she could pass hours away like this, Phasianth humming gently in her mind while she repeated the task of oiling, wiping, oiling again and making sure the leather gleamed, it soothed her after a threadfall. Even days afterwards she had nightmares of the dreaded thing, The first time she fought Thread she'd actually wet herself she'd been that scared and not even Bereck knew that, only Phas and perhaps Berath if Phas had let slip before he forgot. If Berath had known then she'd been kind enough to never mention it to her.

She wasn't suited to Rider life though she wouldn't give up Phasianth's love for anything in the world, she would die for him and he for her and for the shy girl who buried herself in her duties nothing could have been more beautiful to her, though she didn't intend either one of them to be dying anytime soon.

Her hands ached by the time she was done oiling and had Phasianth snuffing over her worriedly. She sighed, smiled and turned around to hug that huge blue head of his. "I'm ok Phas, nothing a good soak in some salts won't cure by tomorrow" she told him, scratching his eye ridges until the blue almost purred like a feline in pleasure.

His eyes snapped open when he received a message from Berath, He liked her, he flirted with her but in a much more respectful way he did any other green, Berath was special and should be made to just feel good about herself in his mind.

He hummed to her, he knew she had thought about the Weyrhold before, BereckHealer had told her about it and he had been there a few times but neither he nor Becka had been to this place before so he was curious, especially as there was a Gold there, with apparently very few dragons about. Could be his chance to flirt with the Gold.

Becka perked up a little, she'd been wanting to go see this Weyrhold that Bereck had been to and told her vague things about. She wanted to meet Natai properly, the gold rider that had been brave enough to not get involved in the revolution, had struck out on her own and formed her own thing though Becka knew little about how it was run, the fact Bereck thought enough of it to visit. She'd greeted Natai Breifly at the hatching feast when she'd Impressed Phasianth but there hadn't been a chance to talk to her and hadn't met her since then.

"Please tell Berath we are coming, oh and ask if there is anything we should bring, i just need to go wash up quickly, i'm all covered in oil" She asked of her blue, who hummed at her lovingly.

Berath gave a mental chuckle. she replied.

As Berath conversed with Phasianth Bereck headed outside, hefting the sack of root vegetables awkwardly. The firelizards were bringing the other sack and the smaller one with the things for lunch, but the big sack was a bit heavy for them. He really did need to get himself a gold, more power and protection from other golds. Relying as much as he did on his pets he didn't want somebody else's badly behaved animal pushing them around.

Outside Berath was lying down waiting for the bags to be attached to her harness; Bereck dumped his sack and tied on the lighter supply bag and then the bag of lunch. With this done he hefted the sack of tubers again, managing to hold it up against the harness while the firelizards zoomed hither and thither to fasten straps around it.

Phasianth passed along the message as Becka washed up quickly, got changed into gear suitable for going Between and swept her hair back into a crude ponytail, just enough to look presentably but not fancy enough to look like she was trying to show off or anything.

She put Phasianth's newly cleaned and oiled gear on him and hopped up spryly for the sort flight to Berath's Weyr, as they landed she saw Bereck hefting heavy sacks and she rushed over, however he had done by then and she didn't feel the need to remind him he wasn't as strong as he thought he could be sometimes. She smiled to herself a little, he really was a stubborn old man.

"Bereck! you're really taking me to meet Natai?" she asked, a little excitedly as she watched his well trained flits rushing about doing their various jobs. She wondered sometimes if they'd been so well trained had Bereck not been so ill when he'd gained most of them. They helped him be way more independant than he could be on his own.

As Phasianth came into land Berath thrummed a low greeting, her eyes whirling bright blue with welcome and pleasure at seeing her young friend. she commented, knowing how well he liked to be complimented.

Unaware of Becka's thoughts on him hefting heavy objects Bereck offered his apprentice one of his characteristic faint smiles as she approached. "I wouldn't have said so if I didn't mean it," he replied as he fastened up his flight jacket. "We'll have lunch and you can have a look around the place, such as it is at the moment. I don't think they've advanced quite as far as chairs and tables yet, tents is about the extent of it. I think it will be good for you to see though, and to talk to Natai." He hoped they got along, he really did. The last thing he wanted was for Becka to end up moving somewhere she had no friends initially especially as he didn't know whether or not the animosity between her and Rochelle had been resolved.

Parcels secure Vena and Sanguine swooped down to land on Bereck's shoulders while Marrow, Cap, Carp and Ichor settled themselves around the sacks. Scalpel and Iris vanished off ahead to the Weyrhold in order to alert Natai to the imminent arrival of Lunch.

If Phasianth had been covered in feathers he would have fluffed himself up proudly at the compliment from Berath, so instead he did the dragon equivalent of standing prouder and flaring his wings, just a little, and lifting his head up to show off the brighter markigns along his neck, his eyes whirling rainbow in his happiness. he said, a draconic grin spread across his maw.

"Oh, of course you wouldn't" Becka backtracked when Bereck said he wouldn't have said it if he didn't mean it, of course he wouldn't, Bereck never said anything lightly, she should know that by now. "Lunch sounds great Bereck" she smiled, slightly nervously before frowning a little "If they've got that little Master Bereck, are you sure you're ok going there" she looked to Berath and the ladder for Bereck to be able to get aboard her. "Are you going to be comfortable enough? Have they at least got decent chairs?" she asked him. a Healer's worry flitting across her face.

The scarred green gave a deep rumbling chuckle. Or perhaps she would rise soon. She didn't know when she last had, only that it had been a while ago, before.... Humm. Had it really been that long? She didn't want to reach into Bereck's memory to check, he'd know she was looking and she didn't want him to feel any kind of guilt if she hadn't risen since he was first hurt... whenever that had been.

Having just unrolled the ladder Bereck paused, heart sinking into the pit of his stomach. He wished questions like that were not asked of him. He wished they were not necessary. He just wanted to be... to be normal.

Looking around at his apprentice Bereck found a tight smile from somewhere. "Mmh? Sorry, I was checking the buckles," he lied smoothly. "Yes, I shall be fine Becka, I make the trip fairly often and Berath's head makes an adequate stool." And now he had to climb up. He did so slowly, intensely aware of the dull pain from his scars that could flare up worse at any moment. What if it got bad, really bad when he was out there? That was a worry he always tried to keep out of his head when he was going anywhere far from his office or weyr, there was nothing he could do to prevent it after all and he couldn't live his whole life tied just to those places. It would be fine.

Eventually Bereck made it up into the saddle, easing himself into place with care before starting to fasten the harness buckles.

Phasianth hadn't meant soon-to-rise glowing... or had he? well, not conciously anyway, he was just complimenting her, it was probably just a good coat of oil on her hide making her brighter seeming today, combined with the sun of Trine and the heat, well. Yes probably just oil. As if on cue two firelizards popped out of Between Becka's dark green and two toned blue emerged, wondering where Becka was going, the landed on Phasianth's saddle, determined not to be left behind.

Becka didn't know how Bereck felt about people making accomodations for him, due to his injuries he'd suffered... well.. she did a a certain point but she made no comment on it. She knew Bereck didn't like relying on others and prefered to do things himself. "I'm sure Berath is the best 'seat' out there" she said brightly, trying to smile lightly at him but she didn't manage it, concern flickered over her face instead. She moved to Berath's head, giving her muzzle a pat "Take good care of him Berath" she whispered, finally smiling, knowing that the green would and DID, Becka just worried about the man she thought of as a mentor, but above all a father, someone to look up to and love. She didn't know what she would do without him. He was there for her before Phas, yes she had Phasianth now but he was there when she had no one, when she'd been all alone, especially when she'd been all alone and frightened.

Berath replied privately to Becka. She would, and did, but she worried. It was in her nature to worry about the ones she loved, and her healer most of all. Turning back to Phas she sent the feeling of a smile and nodded her head.

Becka looked worried. He didn't want to be a cause of worry to anyone, he tried not to show anyone anything that might concern or upset the people he cared about. Unfortunately he failed all too often or so it seemed. "Shall we go then?" he asked with another tight smile. "Natai is expecting us, Iris and Scalpel are with her already. Phasianth, take the image of where we're going from Berath and confirm with her before we go." The blue was still young and inexperience, he was taking no chances with his safety jumping to a new location.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 23, 2013 5:59 pm

"I know Berath, i know" murmured Becka, resting her forehead against Berath's mighty nose for a moment. "Take care of yourself too Berath" she said with a grin, giving the green one last affectionate pat before moving off to her own dragon. Whoever thought she could love two dragons, her love for Phasianth was different than her love for Berath but both were important to her in their different ways. he said brightly, turning rainbow eyes on his returning rider, oh he loved His so much, he would do anything for her, he knew she loved Berath very much but he wasn't jealous of the Green, how could he be. He knew His was the only one for him, and he was the only one for her, she could love another dragon too, he didn't mind at all. He liked Berath a lot, it wasn't love but he held her in great affection, a respectful affection.

Becka kissed Phasianth's nose as she walked by to get in the saddle, "Yes, lets" she said to Bereck once aboard her blue. If she were privy to Bereck's thoughts she would be embarrased, she often felt the same way, forgoeing her own discomforts so as she didn't worry those she loved, the only one she couldn't hide anything from was Phasianth, not that he would let her if she was able to. he replied to Bereck before turning to Berath expectantly for his co-ordiantes, which he confirmed with her before passing them onto Becka and the flits. he asked Becka privately. "I don't know, probably but we'll see" she laughed, "I'm sure you'll be fine as long as Natai's gold is around" she chuckled out loud.

Berath called to the other dragon, and to both humans. As Bereck lent forward over her neck the huge green lumbered forward and then sprang into the air, hugs wings unfurling with a huge downbeat and then another and another to carry her up and away from the ground. Once spiralling upwards she confirmed the image of the Weyrhold's location with Phasianth and, after a pause to wait for his reply, she vanished between.

The cold made him wince far more these days than it had before, even through his thick riding jacket it was like knives of ice were driving into the scars. It lasted only moments however and then they were back out in the warm air of the Southern continent, looking down on a tiny campsite by a lake near the edge of the jungle.

Berath called to the blue-pair. At the same moment she let out a bugle of greeting and reached for Iachxith.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 23, 2013 6:22 pm

No matter how many times they went Between the cold always made Becka gasp, then panic momentarily when she drew no air. The only time she didn't was when they were fighting Thread and dodged Between to avoid it or shake it off, but she never had time to think about the cold, only the panic and fear clawing at her belly at the time. Her hands gripped Phasianth's saddle pommel tighter until the three heartbeats passed and they emerged back into warm air again, making Becka grasp a lungful of air in a sharp intake.

Gosh they were very high up, higher than she'd expected. Oh but it was a pretty spot, a lake at the edge of jungle.... wait.. jungle, that meant felines and wild whers ... was this really a good idea? she didn't like the thought of either of those things being near her Phasiant, Berath or Bereck.

of course he asked after the gold, it was another female, one he would pursue more willingly than he would Berath, the bulky green earning playful respect in his heart, rather than serious flirting. Though he paid her compliments all the time. "Oh wow this isn't what i was expecting at all" she called to Bereck, all the while thinking that either the people here would have to move, or take down some jungle to make room for a proper Weyr, wven if they called it w Weyrhold, they'd need much more space when the resident Gold clutched.

Berath mused as she began to circle down towards the ground. is good for swimming in, nice and deep!> As she spoke the green made her final decent and touched down heavily, wincing with a brief tiny flash of grey in her eyes as the landing jarred her healer. she sent privately.

Straightening up in the saddle Bereck mentally waved off his dragon's concern and started to unfasten the buckles. Once Phasianth had landed too he smiled over at Becka and inclined his head to the tents. "Welcome to Euclid! A work in progress, as you see." Where was Natai? In one of the tents, perhaps.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 23, 2013 7:07 pm

Phasianth nodded his head he said as he almost landed on a tent "Be careful Phas!" cried Becka, mildly panicking but glad Phasianth skimmed it without so much as dinging it a tiny bit. bugled Phasianth in a WIDE broadcast so anyone, human or dragon would be able to hear him mentally, even if they hadn't heard his terrible screechbugle (strangled terran peacock) he called as he landed safely near to Berath.

Becka cringed in her saddle, bringing her hand to her face. "Oh Phas...." she groaned, getting down and moving quickly to Bereck, she'd noticed Berath land with a (unintentional) thud and she knew it'd have hurt but she halted herself from running over as he spoke, ok well he didn't seem to be in immediate pain, she'd let him be until it was obvious. "Yes, definitely" she mumured in response to the 'work in progress' comment "Tents are good though, and the jungle is good shelter but... what happens when Thread falls?" she asked, the dreaded stuff all too fresh in her mind, especially when she couldn't see much, if any, damage to anything in the vicinity, perhaps Thread never fell right here? Curious.

Inside the tent Phasianth nearly landed on, Natai gave a little shriek. She'd become used to dragons overhead and underfoot, firelizards about, but having one so near to her tent that it jostled surprised the young dragonrider. And then - a loud voice, booming into her head in a mindvoice not o the dragons she knew of.

Natai clapped her hands over her ears, wincing, and Iachixth descended on Phasianth and Berath with her own bugle of greeting. You two never look up! You should lower your voice though, you're hurting my riders brain Hello! I am Iachixth. Hello, Berath! Who is this?

Iachixth taking the helm gave Natai a moment to get said brains in order before walking out of the tent, smoothing out her skirt from where the sitting had wrinkled it. Long and quite swishy, she adored her simple orange skirt, wearing only a simple white top with it. The goldrider squinted to the pairs, one hand shading her eyes, the other up in a greeting wave. "Hello."
