Suluksati glared at the empty nest in dissappointment, feeling miserable and tired and so very filthy. This wasn't going well- this wasn't going well at all. She was normally quite good at hunting. Good enough to survive, anyway. Today was just an off day. She backed out of the hole and shook some of the dust out of her feathers. She felt tired, weak, and hopeless. Would today be another hungry, sleepless night, sustained only by her pride and determination? Would she find prey tomorrow? The next day?
A sound caught her attention, and she lifted her tired head to see a shape watching her. She immediately perked up. The shining eyes, the scent, the sillhouette- it was another Kenghura, a live one, standing there in front of her.
It was if her body had been waiting for this all day. With more energy than she had thought she had, she dashed after it, pouncing as it turned to bolt. Her claws came down hard on it, and she ended it with a bite to the back of the neck. She ate it carefully, savoring every bite. She found a river to wash down the food with and, and, equally carefully, began the long and tedious process of grooming as the meat settled in her stomach and she digested. Dust and blood and dead leaves were carefully worried out of her feathers, a bit of water added here and there to assist. She lay on a rock to sun her feathers into warm fluff and to digest her meal.
She set herself down lazily, relaxing a bit. There was a lot that a full stomach and a patch of warm sunlight could do. Perhaps later that day, she would go on patrol for more dragons in danger, or perhaps she would continue her wanderings andfly off to Ayr or Eowyn. Or, heck, maybe Aisko. Will a full belly and a warmed and fluffed set of feathers, she felt she could do anything today.
