Suluksati's stomach woke her from a much-needed slumber, grumbling its empty displeasure. She hadn't eaten in a while- it had to be days by now. She simply hadn't had the time, between flying and defending her beloved dragons from those horrible hunters and then running from said dragons. It was not unusual that she forgot to take care of her own needs, but her stomach had had enough. She would feed herself. Now. Grudgingly, she rose from her nap and pleasant dreams and, with a shake of her feathers, stalked off into the Serenia forests, searching for whatever prey she could find. The scent of Kenghura reached her nose, and she swallowed the saliva that had begun to gather in her mouth at the thought of their meat. It should be a simple matter to dig one out, shouldn't it? She tracked the scent to where the forest met the tall lush grasses of a Serenia meadow, her nose filled with all sorts of wonders. It was very difficult to focus on the musty odor of her prey among the flowers of fall, but she managed to find the burrow. It smelled warm and fresh, and her stomach reminded her that it would be very tasty. She stuck herself in the hole and began to dig ferociously, churning dirt all around her and mucking up her feathers. She dug until she had to stop, dust clogging her throat. She coughed delicatedly, and paused. There were eyes glittering warily in the shadows of the burrow beyond. Then, suddenly, they were gone. She leapt forward, digging as quickly as her claws could manage. She hit the end of the burrow, a loose wall of soft soil marking the closed escape route of the Kenghura. She sat there, surrounded by dirt, for a moment, her stomach breaking her silence. Then she stood and limped away, hoping for better luck next time.
