Ainsley and his mentor managed to find their way back to Eowyn again, and, as Quan had some more private business to attend to, Ainsley found he was on his own as usual. The teen was already used to it by now; the older Orderite had long since left him to learn to be independent on his own at almost regular intervals, so today felt no different. The lecture about going about growing and becoming stronger in a directed, purposeful way had come to mind as soon as Quan had bid his temporary farewell for the rest of the day, perhaps even the rest of the week, so Ainsley had hurried off and ventured once again into the Malro.

"Brilliant," he muttered as the sun beat down on his body, the sweat basically gluing his clothes to his skin. "Leave your cloak and go out into the desert. You won't feel like you're getting fried by the sun and the blistering heat, definitely not."

The teen chided himself as he walked along, his hand on the hilt of his axe. There wasn't much else to do but wait to come across a dragon, so he kept on walking until finally he caught the shadow of something flying overhead. Upon looking up, Ainsley smiled and wrapped his fingers around the hilt of his axe; the Kiandri dragon let out a roar as it landed and, without notice, fired a bit of lightning in the blonde's direction. Luckily, Ainsley was able to react quickly enough, and he managed to drop and roll to his left, easily dodging the attack.

"Finally found you!" he said with a laugh, a bit surprised that he was actually happy to run into a dragon for once. It'd been a while since the last time he'd been out and against a dragon, after all. Quan had had him doing odd jobs and other things to make some extra money for whatever reason, so Ainsley felt the rush of the first hunt again. As if in response, the Kiandri let out another bolt, to which Ainsley dodged once more with a sidestep before rushing towards his target.

It was over a lot quicker than he last remembered. There was no dramatic flight, no extensive roaring on the dragon's part. Ainsley swung his axe, which cut through the dragon's arm first, then neck, with relative ease. As the familiar orb formed where the dragon's remains once lay, Ainsley couldn't help but feel a bit dissatisfied. The teen wanted something of a challenge. Growth always happens when you're challenged, right?

It took about as long as Ainsley took to pick up the Kiandri orb off of the desert floor and dust off the sand for another Kiandri dragon to set its sights on him. The teen only smirked as the creature landed, this time roaring for a bit of dramatic effect or something to that extent. He fought the urge to make any unnecessary comments and instead quickly put the Kiandri orb away and tightened his grip on his axe. The dragon, which was only a couple of meters away, let out another ear-shattering roar before letting out a blast of lightning, effectively grazing Ainsley on his shoulder as the teen tried to dodge. He cried out in pain as he rolled in the sand after stumbling a bit, but he didn't have much time to recover. The dragon had lifted itself off the ground and quickly closed the gap between them.

Ainsley got up as quickly as he could and swiped the side of the Kiandri's head as it tried to bite a chunk out of him, and he started to run to create a bit more distance between them. The teen had always been rather good on his feet, but with a searing hot pain on his arm, blood trailing down and a Kiandri hot on his tail blasting off one shot of lightning after another, it wouldn't be long before it'd make another hit. As luck would have it, a formation of boulders was only a short distance away, so he bolted straight for it and slid into the best hiding space he could find to catch his breath.

He could hear the Kiandri let out another roar, most likely in anger, as he collected himself and tried to think of a way to beat the monster. Running up to it was probably a bad idea in his condition, so the only other option that was available was sneaking up on it.

"It's worked before..." were the only words of comfort Ainsley could afford before taking a deep breath and slowly sliding out of his little spot...

And right into the dragon's sights.

"Well, bite me."

He saw a flash of light go right above his head as he dove, head first and axe at the ready, down and swung at the dragon's belly. A wave of relief washed over him as he felt the blade of his axe make contact, and with a loud cry he swung as hard as he could, effectively gutting the beast. It could only let out one last cry in anguish before all that was left of it was a little yellow orb, which Ainsley picked up and put into his pocket again. He wasn't quite so satisfied, but he knew when he had to call it a day.

A breeze blew past and reminded him of the stinging pain in his arm, so he quickly made back for the town that he and Quan had originally boarded up in. He needed to get some treatment before anything else.
