Rolling to Catch
80 = 10 (blood moon bonus) + 10 (familiarity) = 100
Success!

Once again, Rowan ventured out into the night in the hopes of catching a Draugur. The Blood Moon was nearly over, and her chances of success waned with the moon. The snare trap had not succeeded in her two previous attempts, so Rowan had devised a different plan. She had read about mist nets, and had immediately requested that her aunt procure her one of the delicate things. Stretching it between two trees, Rowan stepped back and waited. The net glittered in the moonlight, just waiting for its prey.

It was a younger Draugur, which meant that it wasn't terribly clever. The creature flew right into the net and fell into the fold at the bottom, tangled in the webbing so that it couldn't get out. Rowan immediately ran over to the entrapped creature and gathered the flapping, protesting thing up. She inspected it carefully for injury, though its talons scratched at her skin and drew blood. Rowan winced and cursed under her breath.

"You're a feisty little beast." She grumbled. Moxy was not something she was terribly interested in at the moment. But she did somehow manage to get the bird into the wire cage that she had brought with her. It beat its wings against the bars, but the cage held firm and once she had covered the cage with a dark cloth, the Draugur seemed to calm itself a little.

The cage was heavy, and Rowan was barely able to manage it by herself. But somehow, she wove her way out of the swamps and back to the streets of obsidian city. From there, it was a short jaunt to her neighborhood. The lights were out, as it was late. But she could see a candle burning in her window, and she knew that the maids would have a snack waiting for her. Rowan felt a surge of pride and success as she went around to the back entrance. It had been a good night.

Rolling to Tame
37
FAIL

It had been a long stretch of days, and Rowan's inexperience with animals was proving itself to be more of a handicap than she had anticipated. Taming a creature should have been simple. All she had to do was to get the dratted bird to accept her. She had a large cage in her bedroom, well appointed and beautiful. She kept it stocked with the sorts of things Draugur ate, but the bird seemed to have very little appetite. It was aggressive, too. Every time she reached into the cage to get it out, it flew at her hands. Her delicate green-skinned hands were now scored with cuts and scratches, courtesy of the damned bird.

This particular Draugur was a messy creature as well. While it had no appetite, it seemed to revel in throwing the viscera it was provided with at the cage bars, which meant that the bloody mess also ended up on Rowan's bedroom floor. The maids were getting very tired of having to tidy up after the creature. To the point that aunt Corwen had told Rowan that, while learning to tame was an acceptable hobby, she would have to clean up after the creatures she brought inside the house. Rowan took on the distasteful task with stoic acceptance, and kept on trying. But the bird was beginning to prove to be too much for her.

She was not, however, willing to give up. She maintained that the creature could be tamed, but the creature disagreed vehemently. When Rowan pulled it out of the cage for what would prove to be the final time, it launched into such a flurry of attack that she lost her grip on it, and the bird winged its way out of the window, calling mournfully for a mate.

"Back to the drawing board, again." Rowan said. It was possible that she should just give up and try to tame something else. But the allure of such a mysterious creature appealed to the little Oblivionite, so once more, she hit the books, determined the answers to all of life's challenges lay in their pages.
