[PRP] Welcome. [Rot x Poke & Gilded]

[Mennykins]

Thick fog swirls around the ankles of the beasts that wander here, the soft flutter of moths all around, though they cannot be seen. Skeletons of trees, and bones of old in the shallow waters that lap against hooves and paws. In the quiet, damp whispers of the swamp there are voices, speaking softly and all at once. This is a sacred place, a peaceful place...

A soft green glow appears in the mists, the soft sounds of steps in water. A doe emerges, a face marked with a permanent skeletal grin, though her actual expression seems quite somber and stoic. Her eyes are aglow, blinking slowly at the visitors. A moth matching her colors flutters overhead.

For a moment, she says nothing, merely looking the two does over, standing there with her head held high, posture still and perfect.

"...What is it you seek?" She asked, voice holding a smooth timbre, soft and deep despite her rougher exterior.

Neither doe knew each other, but in that instant they looked to the other for support.


It was the acha that spoke first, however. "I wish to sing. To sing those have passed a song of peace and rest. To keep them from lurking in this land and moving on to whatever place the MotherFather has planned for them." It was the most she'd spoken to any kin in a very long time, but she felt proud of her answer. What wasn't there to have pride in when you spoke your heart's truth?


Poke Her's eyes went wide. How was she supposed to follow that? She respected the gentleness of the other doe's plea and swallowed a breath to speak her turn. "I- oh. Y'see, it's a really interesting thing to watch how a body decays, but it's not good for the surrounding land and plant life. It's no good for the respect of the life that kin may have led either, so, I've been finding pretty ways to bury them? I'm just looking for a place where I can learn more about that and help others in the process."

Noble goals, and perfect for the tribe. The doe gave a slow blink in response, her tone kinder but still serious. "Have you the offering?" She asked softly. If not, the does would have to be escorted off Tribe lands by the scouts.

Again Gilded went first. Her offering was at her feet laying across a large leaf. All of them things she'd found simply as she'd made the trek here. A moth wing that looked like winter; soft and fluffy. A spiky cypress seed and, finally, was the lower jaw bone of a rabbit.

Poke Her's offering was bundled a bit more ... carefully. She'd found an abandoned song bird nest and matted it with mud and shed lynx fur. Inside was a leg bone of a long dead kimeti buck, the fuzzy seed pod of a milkweed plant, and the stripe browns and creams of a common moth.

Both does looked to the doe before them with hope in their eyes.

Rot was silent before a knowing smile and understanding settled in her glowing eyes. A soft laugh left her, a whisper on the wind. "Welcome home." She said softly, as her moth fluttered around their hooves, picking up the offerings and flying off into the mists. "Come. Time to meet your family." Rot said, turning to leave, motioning for them to follow with a gentle bow of her head.
