There was a time when women were forbidden on board ships. But that never stopped one girl who decided to disguise herself as a boy to serve aboard the prestigious ship, Constellation. She did a good job of keeping herself hidden as a male while aboard the ship however along its journey Constellation ran into a pirate ship, Poseidon’s Blood. Constellation, being a mighty ship, decided to take down the pirates, believing their enemies would be destroyed very easily. However the pirate ship did not give up without a fight. Poseidon’s Blood countered Constellation’s attacks with unbelievable strength. During the fight one of the cannon blasts from the Pirate ship knocked the girl overboard. Constellation retreated from the fight leaving the girl stranded in the water. Luckily a crew member of Poseidon’s Blood found her and brought her aboard. The captain, a mysterious and strapping young man, was convinced that his new hostage was a strong and capable lad so he let the “boy” live and kept him as a new member of his crew.

After serving on the ship for only a few days the girl grew to become completely infatuated with her new captain and now wants to know more about him and his motives but finds it difficult to get him alone. The crew member who found the girl in the water is one of the only people she can talk to. He decides he wants to help his new friend meet with the mysterious captain in person. In their pursuit for information the crew member helping the girl is strangely beginning to fall in love with his friend. He tries not to act on his emotions because he still believes his buddy is a boy.

There are only a few rumors about the Captain that have been circulating through the ears of the crew members that may or may not be true: 1. He is one of the best and youngest Pirate captains alive, 2. He lost one of his eyes in the only bet he'd ever lost, and 3. His heart was stolen by a beautiful mermaid.

And this is where our story begins.

• • • Personality: James often keeps to himself, he is mysterious, strict, and passionate with a lust for adventure. He is a trickster with a dark sense of humor and can act a bit heartless at times. Get him alone and he becomes a completely different person.

• • • The Captain is on a mission to find a mysterious treasure. But this treasure is not gold, nor is it buried on an island. It can only be found in the depths of the ocean; the mermaid who stole his heart. He is still unsure of what he will do once he finds her but he is prepared to give his life for her love.

The Girl
Aware of how pirates normally act around women she has decided to keep her disguise as a boy since being taken aboard Posseidon’s Blood. She is infatuated with the captain of the ship and will stop at nothing to gain his confidence. She has made very good friends with the crew member who saved her from the water but she continues to keep her secret from him. She doesn’t know if she can fully trust him yet.

• • • Acaeus has the personality of a hyperactive chipmunk with a heart of gold. Although many of the more sensitive crew members have told him he was fooling himself and shutting his own emotions inside of himself, he only disagreed and passively rejected these ideas. Although he has this heart of gold, his own happiness is no where to be found, making every nice action he does eat away at himself little by little.

• • • As the only (known) female on the ship, Elisa has grown a thick skin. She is quick-witted, strong-willed, hard-headed, fast to accuse and slow to apologize. Bawdy humor and sarcasm come as easily to her as swordplay does, and despite her gender, she can drink with the best of them. She takes orders from no one but the captain.

• • • The first mate possesses the captain’s complete trust. She is the only crew member aboard who knows where the captain’s true destination is. The first mate has spent more than a decade trying to hunt down a mermaid because drinking a mermaid’s blood will grant you immortality. She plans to kill the mermaid that the captain is in love with and take the ship for her own.

The Mermaid
She is neither good nor evil but her love for the captain of Poseidon’s blood is not a typical one and that is why she stole his heart. She knows that one day he will return to her either to take his heart back or to give himself completely to her. A kiss from a mermaid will protect a sailor from drowning. If she is ever taken completely out of the water she will lose her tail and mermaid powers forever.

The Octopus
The octopus is the mermaid's closest friend. He/She is an intellect who is not afraid to tell his/her friend the truth and who scoffs at the human species and their strange and obtuse behavior. The octopus is uncomfortable with the mermaid's interaction with the human man but will do anything to protect its dearest friend. The octopus can't talk like humans but it has the ability to share its thoughts telepathically with the people and animals it encounters.

Lucia- The Captian's Blue and Gold Macaw. She is very wise (wiser than one might think) and a very good listener but not much of a conversationalist. She only has the abilities to annoyingly repeat what has already been said to her and to answer yes or no questions with strategic bobs of her head or flaps of her wings.

Settings

This RP takes place in the year 1722, somewhere out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, aboard the pirate ship, Poseidon's Blood.

The Ship -Poseidon's Blood

The Deck -Where most of the crew members work

Captains Quarters - The doors are normally locked. Captain and First Mate are the only two with key access.

Crew bunks- The cramped cabin spaces shared by crew members to sleep in shifts. You'll be lucky to keep the same cot you started with and twice as as lucky to get a cot with a mattress.

Mermaid Cove - A secret resting spot for mermaids. It is hidden from sailor's eyes during the day by spiritual energy.

- Pretty posts make me happy but you don't need to go over the top. If I can't figure out at a glance what part is your actual post, there is far too much going on. There is also a bare minimum of your character's name and a photo of your character.
- Literacy is a must! I like to see a fair amount of detail and progression in people's posts. If I see that somebody's posts are lacking luster I might PM them and ask them to step up their game a bit.

• • • Q: Can my character fall in love with someone they aren't paired with? A: Yes! This world is very open and free. The possibilities are endless! I just ask that any deviation of character motives be well explained within the story.
• • • Q: Is there room for more characters? A: Absolutely! I know my character list is quite small right now but as the story progresses I am positive that there will be an increasing need for characters. Just check back to the Character Profiles list to find the new ones. Also if you have any suggestions for a new character to be added PM me your request to add a new character. You will need to fill out a reservation form and make a profile for any new characters just like before.
• • • Q: Is there magic and fantasy in this word? A: Mermaids and talking octopi! I'm pretty sure this is fantasy!
