Umbrakinesis is control over shadows. I've tried it, but not gotten much of a response. I read that depressed people are often more gifted in this field, so I guess if you are emo, this is for you.

"Emo" itself is short for "emotional", which seems to gravitate toward being feminine. And also, depression is not linked towards being goth or emo, though it is common. However, I know quite a few rich, 'preppy' kids who are severely depressed, usually due to low self-esteem and self-confidence. Anyway, this post is way too long, but I'm still in shock after finding out that I have a 3-5 page history paper due, and Chef is leaving South Park.

-twitches- Not everyone can just decide to learn whatever kinetic field they wish to. You need to start out with your natural element and after becoming used to what your body naturally controls, then you may move on to other fields to see what you can do. If you aren't meant to control shadows and such, then it isn't going to work obviously, but your body may reject any other elemental control after coercion through a forced element or power. Save yourself the trouble.
And as for depressed of emo people having control over it; Negative. That is a crock. Genetics mainly controls what type of element or power you'll have. Not if you're constantly sad or feel like a giddy schoolgirl all the time. That's lifestyle choice, not anything to do with kinetics at all.

Here's my view on kenetics.
Firstly, there are no "element" types. Kenesis is the using the natural power of the human mind to control or influence matter or energy.
Secondly, it has little to do with genetics. My view it that certian families don't nessecarially have "the gift" more than others. It's just that being psionic rubs off on those that you're constantly around, hence it is "passed" down the generations. Though I'm willing to give on this point if proof is presented.
As for Umbrakinesis, wouldn't it not be the control of shadows, but the control of the light that governs the shadows, considering that shadows exist only in the absence of life.

I apologize, I should've been more clear; When I spoke of genetics, I meant traits of the power. Some families are more attunded to Cryo, like mine, so therefore there will be a great deal of them in my family line and my children will be attunded to it. That's what I meant by genetics. It's the possesion of a certain kinesis in ones own DNA.

I kinda see what you mean, that's what I thought at first, but it turns out that Umbrakinesis and Lumokinesis are completely different. Umbrakinesis is deflection of light.
