Religion

The Kemet worship many different modideities however their main two are Atum, who rules over the domain of rivers, especially the Iteru river and which they believe kemet eventually sprang from, and Osiris, who’s domain is soil although Kemet believe he also rules over the sacred duty of judging kemet’s dead to decide where they shall go for their afterlife. The kemet also believe that he watches those kemet foxes and their family who have passed onto the field of reeds (afterlife). Knowing there is many different modeities and each tribe has their own, the tribe will not put you down if you originally came from a different tribe and worship your original deity. The tribe just asks that you respect their gods as well.
Kemet believes when the modeities are not resting in their altars/temples, they often walk among the tribe in different animals. Out of these animals the bull, cat, and crocodile are the most sacred.
The kemet religion heavily stresses afterlife as they believe you can obtain immortality by passing into the world of the beyond. (Tribe belief only). This carries into their beliefs in that when the elder is alive, he the ultimate link to the modeities and when he dies he will then join the underworld and become the next Osiris. (obviously no reincarnation so this actually does not happen they just believe it does)
As such kemet stresses the journey to the afterlife and the foxes devote much time and energy into preparing for survival for life in the next world.
Death is not the end in their view but just a transitional stage in the progress to achieving a better life. However how you act in this life depends on your future in the next one. they believe those who are rather evil and cruel have the possibility of their soul getting destroyed by Ammut, a chimera like creature that devours the soul of all those evil. (kemet beliefs only)

The kemet believe that a modifox does not have just one soul but three. The “Ka”, “Ba” and “akh”. As such for these three souls to function, it is considered essential for the body to survive intact.
The “Ka” represents a fox's name, with out which a fox can not pass on into the afterlife and their soul is lost forever, the Ka is also a person’s life force.
The Ba is a person’s personality and how they impress the world around them. The khemet believes you should act accordingly for that ba you where given. It remains in the body after the fox has died.
The “akh” is the result of the Ka being split into two. The Ba and the Akh. The Akh flies off into the afterlife and becomes the form the modifox takes and the Ba remains behind in the deceased body.

They also believe in balance and order in the mortal world. you can not be too good or too evil as life will always throw the opposite at you to return back to balance. The foxes have come to this conclusion because as the desert encroaches on the tribe, the Iteru river overflows and gives life and the black sand which allows the tribe to live. It is also reflected in their mythology of how Osiris judges the sins of the deceased. Their myth is that your heart is weighed against the order of the world and if the scale tips you are deemed unworthy for the afterlife.

Who are They?

The Kemet are a very peaceful yet proud gathering of foxes, they believe themselves to be special as they live around the river that floods giving them the fertile black soil in which they need to live. However they do know life has its own problems and is in a constant balance of Chaos vs Good. This is proven every year as most of the land becomes barren threatened by the ever encroaching desert only to recede back as the river floods over into the banks bringing back the black fertile land Kemet is named after. As life is normally rather good and eventful at times they believe it does not just end there and passes on into the afterlife.

Kits are considered a blessing and believed that a fox should have as many as possible because it is the kits job to look after its parents in their very old age. It is also left to the oldest child to make sure all the affairs of the parent are looked after in case anything should happen to them. For the first few years of a kits life they are allowed to constantly play getting used to the world around them and learning new skills. Eventually the kit gains more and more responsibilities as it begins to help their parents with their work.
They learn most everything from watching their parents and playing hunting games or other such games involving their profession. Eventually they will take on apprenticeship with the order they choose and begin training from there.

The Kemet are also not pacifistic, if something threatens the tribe or tries to invade they will attack back with their whole might. If expanding their territory is also beneficial they will also attack with in reason. However they also believe that you should try and live your life in balance so that your afterlife will be better. As such You can be violent and hurt others but it isnt advised because at the end of your life the kemet believe you have the weighing of the heart and to have the potential of your soul, your source of immortality destroyed if you fail the test.
As such Kemet tries to steer away from such violent crime like behavior but they will not turn them down believing their actions will be punished and revealed in the afterlife. However They will banish those who try and hurt the tribe in any way and those betray the tribe in some way.

Story

Atem was alone for the majority of the beginning of his life, he tried his hands at creating tribes and none of them seemed to prevail. However eventually humans started entering his domain and Atem began taming the violent river he controlled and beating back the desert which threatened to consume his land. It was then a new tribe between humans and modifoxes was born, the tribe held their strong belief of life in the afterlife and in their gods which they believed controlled many aspects of Daily life. This belief and life in the soil drew in Atem's partner Osiris and the two ruled over the tribe for many generations.
However the peaceful tribe caught the ire of another modeity Seth, who was the modeity of the desert and Chaos, and with out warning Seth attacked killing most of the tribe except for five. The land once again became deserted and the desert claimed back most of the green fertile fields except for the few spare parts a long the river and against the oceans that framed the land on two sides.
Osiris and Atum where saddened at the lost of their tribe. However there was a spark of hope. It seems like one foxes that escaped had been the son of their elder the two began searching for the one who might watch over their land . Eventually they seemed to have found the boy again and have called Horus back to lead.

Land

For the most part the tribe lives next to the river and the black dirt. They know its nearly suicide to go into the desert.
Desert: With out water they dare not venture into the red sand. To them it represents chaos.
Pyramids/River: Pyramids frame the landscape and are a way of storing the foxes tomb along with all its possessions and wealth. It is also littered with protective spells necessary for the next stage in their life's journey and where the foxes bury their dead.
The river is the life bringer, when it floods every year it deposits the black sand that is needed to produce crops and keep various game alive. With out the river the tribe would not be able to survive. However it also lurks dangers. It can flood too much and destroy crops and in its waters lurk crocodiles.
Sea: The two Seas frame two of the sides of the tribe. At the top and the right side it helps bring in fish and another source of food.

(put in something about lakes, also put in about temples, valley of elders, monuments

Okay so need to do a map again

Tribe Symbol:
wings of Horus: This can be placed anywhere on the body and can be any color. However it is discouraged to get red.

Jewelry:
ankh This can be worn as any jewelry piece although most common is a necklace and can be any color but red. (the said jewelry would be the ankh in the middle)

Important Dates and updates

Important Dates
Akhet: The period from july to September is very important as it is the flooding of the Iteru. Celebration starts the day the foxes notice the iteru flooding and for a period of thirty days the foxes spend it dancing singing and feasting. On the thirty first day they put everything away and return to tending the land.

July 25 -Feast of Anket: welcoming the rising of the iteru (this is when the period starts)
August 4 Festival of the Dead: Sunset Ceremony (no fish can be eaten this day. Foxes start the festival in honor of Osirs when the sun goes down and often spend the whole night awake. When it becomes too dark they retreat into the temple.)
August 17 -Rituals in the Temples of Atum, and Osiris. (everyone must visit the temple. It is the one day they are allowed to see the shrine that the modeities reside in)
September 28 Day osiris and Atum supposedly met, it was also the day Atum decided to create the iteru.

more to come when Nasai can space things out a bit more

updates
5/22 its been approved ^.^

2/8: Kits have grown up. Tribe is dealing with sand storm and slight cold going around and oh yeah Nasai sent the tribe in for looking over
9/15: Nasai finally sets this poor thing up.

Tribe members

Insibya(Elder): He is able to communicate with the higher beings as it is rumored he may be what the Kemet call a living deity himself, one where he is mortal but will eventually obtain immortality in the afterlife as he joins Osiris. He is in charge of the tribe and every final decision whether over military purposes or religion he has the last say.

Priests are split up into two different categories.
Female (Carers): The females often look after the kits when ever their parents cant (also applies to orphans) and tend to helping foxes give birth. And any healing the tribe might need because of injury or illness is also taken care of by the female priestesses. As a general rule unless they are a patient no males are allowed into the place of healing.

Male (shamans): Males are in charge of taking care of the modeities as they believe when the modeities are not roaming around as animals they are resting in their altars, so while they are residing in the altar it is the priest’s job to make sure their needs are taken care of. The priests also take care of many other things such as funeral rites, teaching school, supervising the artists and works, and advising people on problems.

Scribes: They record everything that happens during the tribe’s existence. Some record contracts and promises between different modifoxes or who is mates with who and how many children came to be between them. They also calculate and keep track of how much food is coming in and how much the tribe needs to be well off. As education is an important skill Scribes are treated as rather special never going with out food or possessions. They tend to have photographic memories or near photographic.

Scouts (until I can find the word in hieratic): It is their job to explore the land and report to the scribes different water supplies and which fertile land has been reclaimed by the desert. They also check a site to see if it is favorable for burial and to see if any threats to the land.

Hunters: As it is their job to venture out in search of meat and protect the borders of the land from any threats they are well versed in the ways of fighting and taking care of themselves. It is also regarded as a high position and their opinion when the pharaoh asks for it is well regarded.

Fellah (gathers): Fellah have the very important task of making sure everything gets planted during harvest season and gathering different types of seeds and herbs. During Akhet when there is no planting to be done Fellah can often be seen working with the scouts in repairing different structures or irrigation canals/tunnels. They will also help with bringing back the meat the hunters have brought down. When they are not working Fellah are often found near the river banks learning different types of dance or music.
