PROMPT
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. gaia_crown [ PROMPT 7: Part time job! ] Your character managed to get a part time job by answering a local bulletin! It can be pretty much any job you an imagine, but there is a slight problem in that it's a pretty embarrassing job. It's really not something you ever want to share or let anybody else know, so when someone you recognize or another student arrives where you work at, well, it's obviously in your obvious effort to make sure nobody ever comes out alive. Or undead.

Now she hadn't needed a job, not at all. But when she saw the sign she couldn't help but be curious. Which was what landed Simply in a rather dashing suit looking much like... a male waiter. Why a boy? Because they hadn't had a girls uniform in her size. And she had to say, this thing was not comfortable. She could like she could barely move. How did anyone EVER wear this stuff?

So without much else to say on it, she was walking rather stiffly to her cash register to stand and wait. They'd said she was in charge of keeping of bills and some such. Taking seeds and putting it in the register shouldn't be too hard right? Minus the fact that there'd been these symbols she didn't really know, and she couldn't leave the spot, and...

Well currently she found herself sort of flopped on the podium, staring off at the nice people who got to run around and talk to everyone. She wanted to talk with them, but everytime she stepped an inch away it seemed her boss person was there to tell her to get back to her spot. This was so boring. And uncomfortable. And was all work this bad? Because then she just didn't want to grow up.

"TOO. MANY. NUMBERS." Why did work involve those? She wanted to talk to people too, not deal with the people who just wanted to leave and stop talking to her.

...she didn't like this at all. This was the worst.

Maple seemed to be having many opposite problems from Simply, but her own problems none the less. While the young witch was in similar circumstances of not needing any financial aid, her aunt had suggested getting some sort of small job to help her get over some... anxieties, maybe help with her stuttering. To get her out, meeting new creeple and pull her from her shell. It didn't seem like such a bad idea really, because she was now in her second year. She needed to try to get things really under control, see where things had developed with herself... maybe. Get herself to finally try summoning her familiar. Find something else to dread over. When she had taken the job (thankfully a small stint), Maple had wanted to be where the werefox had been stationed (unaware that Simply was actually there).

No, she had been placed in the small pool of waitresses and waiters where she would be up with the customers and even carrying food. Apparently they had taken one look at her horns and figured her to be a demon or monsters, stronger in body and mentality than she really was; and when they realized a reaper, perhaps even then the mistake was shrugged off. (Many Reapers carried large weapons, right?) And they had found a female uniform that fit her, but Maple thought otherwise. Because it was much too short for her tastes and the shirt seemed like it... wasn't to.. accentuate... some assets that she didn't really have. This just made her all the more nervous and rattled, and so far the small witch had gotten four orders wrong and dropped a plate. Just, excellence all around. And being a single job, the manager couldn't find it in him to fire her. Maybe it was pity.

And to add to her horror, Maple heard a familiar voice. Her brows creased and she dared to look at the cashier, not a direction she had dared to look during the start of her shift; mostly because she was looking at the ground with a heavy blush on her face. She froze, clutching the small folder that held a couple's check (with them waving at her a little so they could get it), oh Hecate. She knew that ghoul didn't she. Oh Hecate, she could be spotted! The ridicule of this would never end! She was doomed!

Maple hadn't quite been noticed. At least not yet. Simply was once more stuck behind a couple who were growing progressively more cranky with her inability to properly process their check. She was slowly, but diligently plinking away at the cash register, trying to get the numbers right. She was honestly trying... about as hard as she ever did. Sadly, she kept looking up to try and talk to the pair, who were now busy staring out the window. At least that was it inbetween giving her looks that suggested they thought she was a ditzy as she probably appeared.

But maybe she shouldn't have said that bit about wondering what a button did aloud. Nope. Definitely not helping.

Finally though, the pair was released from their suffering as she waved and finished putting everything in order. She at least had putting things in the right spot down, just the bills and... "Hmph-" She was interrupted in her grumbling over the buttons as she flicked an ear at another pair calling for attention. Apparently someone was upset, seeing as no one was hassling her or bringing a check at the moment Simply's attention was drawn, much to Maple's horror most likely. The exact couple she was holding the check of were trying to prompt her along and now their noise had drawn a set of overly large ears, and eyes for that matter.

And of course her response was to smile at the similar face. Oh. Thank. Jack! Someone to talk to, and suffer with, but mostly talk to. "Maaaaple!" The ghoul raised a hand, waving happily to the reaper as her tail flicked back and forth happily. She'd at least been trained yelled at enough not to leave her spot, but that didn't stop her from trying to entice the poor fellow student over.

Please come talk to her, please come talk to her- "Oh you have a bill thingy! I can help!" ...that was a lie. That was such a lie. Probably.

Abort. Turn. Run! But Maple just sort of seized up right where she was standing when she heard her name and saw the enthusiastic ghoul waving in her direction. There were no other patrons here by that name, as much as she knew. No one else responded. It had to be directed at her. And it was Simply. They knew each other. And so, the witch gave the werefox a very depressed sort of look upon being caught in her current situation, which they were pretty much both sharing.

The couple continued to try to signal the stunned ghoul, waving a hand in the air to draw her attention from her stupor and now began to address her as well; they knew her name before thanks to a name-tag but hearing it screeched across the restaurant seemed to make them think it gave them a little more leeway to use it. It wasn't helping, it just made her more paranoid with hearing her name aloud from so many directions.

"H-hey... S-simply..." Somehow she found a pitiful little voice somewhere as she still continued to stand there and clutch the folio close. But at its mention, her gaze darted downward at it and her now whiter knuckles then quickly, and wide eyed, at the couple behind her. In a perfect world she would have regained her composure (either because she had gained some self of esteem or being used to all this horrible happenstance she allowed it to slide off a duck's back) and hand them the bill with a weak little smile. No. She almost launched it at the male griffon, handing it off too aggressively and tense-like, making it bounce out of his hands and onto the floor.

Her cheeks went aflame, "I'ms-sososorry!" She exclaimed, her third time today already in such a manner, and ducked down to get it. Only to knock her horns into the table in her haste.

Simply wasn't quite sure what to make of the fact that Maple had frozen in place, and now seemed to be stuck in a mode similar to a deer in the headlights as she continued to wave. Wasn't she happy? Going through this whole job thing with someone she knew would be way more fun than just... going through it? Either way, this seemed like a promising proposition to the ghoul as her continued to beam all the happiness in the world at the poor makeshift waitress. Who... was still being flagged over by that one pair, and maybe another? It was hard to tell from where she'd been planted so... maybe?

Regardless, the display before her showed that, just maybe, Maple was about as good at this whole work thing as she was. Which did help a little bit with her whole feeling a bit useless problem, but it didn't help much with solving the issues. Or keeping the reaper from hitting her head on a table. Simply visible winced at that, lifting a hand uselessly. "You gonna be okay?" She asked it a bit more quietly as, at the moment, it seemed her friend was busy apologizing nonstop to the customer at the moment. Which actually... was good and all, but it wasn't really fixing anything? Wouldn't making that guy laugh a bit fix it much easier?

Or at least a smile? She really seemed closer to tears. Simply's eyes were trailing around the room at that point, wondering if it was safe to abandon her post for a few seconds. No manager guy in sight, seemed clear? So tentatively, she slipped out from behind the cash register to sneak over. "Little case of the jitters?" Was offered to Maple with a smile before a light wave to the customer. "Just a bit too excited about helping everyone, right?" If they didn't get angry it'd make everything easier. Besides, Maple had just sort of hit her head since horns counted...

So... well it was best she didn't end up with a fussy customer on her case. And then her composure faltered a bit as panic struck at hearing her name. "SIMPLY!" Woops. Caught. She glanced over her shoulder smiling hesitantly before slowly backing away again toward her spot. Standing still was... not easy. It was boring.

Maple had gone into a fresh new string of apologies when Simply arrived to her side, it turned into a stuttering mess really and the customer seemed to be stuck between being angry and feeling sorry for the stumbling ghoul that turned out to be their waitress. Both parties seemed to be saved from things just dissolving further with the presence of the were-fox. For one, it gave the couple a chance to slide out of their seats (until they realized that once they got to the counter, they would have to wait.. because uh, their cashier was over there) and Maple was now pulled from her endless loop and inability to figure out how to remedy the current problem.

"Aaa," she stammered, pulling her hands to her chest with a heavy blush. "Ex-cited.. w-wouldn't b-be the b-best.. way t-to p-put it..." Her lips fell into a pout and her eyes went to the ground. "I d-don't know w-why they p-put m-me at t-" Her little words of mope cut off from the irate sound of Simply's name being shouted. Her shoulders flinched and sheepishly she looked in the direction of the voice.
