Ah, the Colosseum. This epicenter of games and festivities had been one of the many wonders of the Roman Empire, and a source of pride for it citizens. Yet, sadly, this great monument had long outlived its usefulness as it became nothing more than a must see for tourist passing by...That was, in till today. Reform to its former glory the Colosseum was now open for business, a bloody business but an entertaining one all the same. Okay, okay, I'm lying slightly. This isn't the real Colosseum but a mock replica of it on some world a good many light years away from Earth. But really, who is paying attention to the small details? The oval walls encompassed golden sand heated by the late morning sun that beat down from over head. Suddenly the crowd jump to their feet as a set of gate like doors hidden in the side of the Colosseum were open to reveal a lone figure.

Li-Fan Lei, better known as Lei Kung, stepped out from the shadows the waiting room offered, blinking back the suddenly blinding sun. "What...?" He said, turning around in a slow circle to take everything in. Where was he? How did get here? Why was here? All these things ran through his head as the watch the crowd, some chanting his names while others talked among themselves; last minute betting taking place before the official start of the match. Suddenly the crowd roared again as a second set of doors open to reveal the Hive. Over hidden loud speakers an announcer stated a few simple rules, the most important being that the first person to say "I Give" lost the fight. Oh, it could be a battle to death if no one decided to give. It was their life they were wagering after all.

So it was a fight? Lei Kung's blue eyes became more serious than usual as he tugged at the gauntlet on his right hand, making sure that it was firmly fixed on. He could fight without it but he preferred not to. The announcer had fallen silent but the intercom crackled signaling that it was still on, the stand were also eerily silent as the onlookers held their breath. Tension and suspension hung think in the air as Lei Kung sized up his opponent. Besides being massive, in both height and bulk, Lei Kung could tell very little about it he. It was safe to say he had never fought a being like it before. There was an intake of breath from the annoucer and then....

"FIGHT START!"

And so it did with Lei Kung making the first move. Energy, an arching bolt of lightening, shot from his gauntlet hand towards the creature on the side. No where near as strong as he could of made. A test shot was all this was.

❝Th e blood of my ancestors.❞

The Hive
☠==== ==== ☠====

It was almost like being home, crammed into a small stone room with nary a ray of light to shine upon his iridescent exoskeleton. He relished the serenity that he found within the tight confines and the shadows of his second home however, the chains which shackled his four arms to his two feet were most unwelcomed. Suddenly, a pang of pain struck him as the heavy wooden door was flung open and a military officer broke the sheet of light and darkened the door to his cell.

”Get up. You’ve got work to do.”

T’kkhe’kk stood amidst the clattering of the heavy metal chains, his feelers dipping low around his face as his mandibles clanged in their usual flickering blur as his compound eyes drifted over the features of the man who instructed him. His stinger yearned to implant itself within the man’s breast for the insolence that he showed but this was not the time. He was unsure of what he was doing here so it was best to acquiesce until he was more sure of what was happening so he sullenly followed his captor down a long and dimly lit hallway. Above him, the ground quaked under the thundering of thousands of heels which stamped down until their seats, which The Hive was passing under. The scene was something of a different monster then T’kkhe’kk had ever dealt with before. The sheer number of individuals above his head was common place to him, seeing as the tunnels of his home was exponentially more than these humans above him now. But the energy signatures between the species were so much different that the flare from the electrical signatures of humans was almost blinding but there was one ball of glowing electrical energy that he noticed in the distance. It was distinct, it was immensely powerful and it was familiar. It didn’t take long until T’kkhe’kk was led to a wooden gate, held closed before a wide expanse of sand. A well groomed, flattened arena floor spiced with gallons of blood which had soaked into the silica. The musty smell of agony and warfare wafted through T’kkhe’kk was wanted to smile. The gate swung open before T’kkhe’kk as a guard asked.

”Want a weapon?”

T’kkhe’kk easily swung his arms open and spread his legs which shredded the thick chains as easily as he split a human hair before turning over his shoulder to throw a simply response, ”I am a weapon.”, before he exited to the beating rays of the overhead sun. The Hive dropped the chains behind him, the gate slamming closed the raucous crowd of humans erupted in cheers that The Hive didn’t exactly feel was warranted. He did nothing, just walked outside but his shoulders shifted back as he stood tall like the Royal Warrior that he was. Something disconcerting happened at that moment… He saw Lei-Kung across the field of battle. Were his eyes deceiving him or was his friend across the blood stained ground, waiting to wage war against him? It was he, he heard his friend’s name on the lips of the crowd and it caused a sudden snapping motion of his mandibles as they slammed closed. He was to fight his friend, something he wasn’t happy about but it was also something he was very used to having eviscerated several of his friends and cousins back in the royal court of the Homo-Optera. A shrill voice broke the jeers and cheers which intermingled in the air as the fight commenced officially.

Lei-Kung raised his hand, The Hive seeing a flaring in that portion of his body presumably gathering energy to release it in an attack. It happened quickly, but since T’kkhe’kk was preparing for it, it was easy for The Hive to shift his body to the left to sidestep the bolt which grounded itself harmlessly into the stone wall behind him. It was a pleasant blessing that The Hive didn’t harbor the same electrical resistance as the human body, since The Hive had a much higher resistance to electrical shock then human’s did which made the effectiveness of Lei-Kung’s electrical attacks much lower but with a person who harbored as much raw power as Lei-Kung did, it wouldn’t be hard to overcome the difference in resistance and make the electrical attacks lethal. So it was now the time to leap into action, almost literally as T’kkhe’kk pushed himself forward with his massive higher set of arms and went into the six limbed lope that was his primary means of sprinting. He ran low to the ground, the sun causing iridescent glints to overcome The Hive’s form under its unrelenting gaze, keeping himself a small target for his opponent while maintaining his full sprinting speed of around Thirty Miles per Hour. The Hive knew little about his opponent. He was well aware that sheer physical power belonged to The Hive, while projectile attacks was Lei-Kung’s advantage by a wide margin. But from what The Hive understood, his friend turned enemy ran on a finite amount of power, even if his reserves were amazing, whereas The Hive had the energy to sprint and fight forever so if The Hive could garner a barrage from Lei-Kung and continue to avoid the man’s attacks, he could drain his opponent and overtake him after he had exhausted his stores of electrical and/or energy attacks. Or, he could hope to withstand any projectile attacks until he got his hands onto Lei-Kung, where he could just disassemble the man in the easy fashion of taking apart humans.

For now, his only thought was to close the distance between himself and his enemy (Something he was accomplishing handily) while keeping a watch on Lei-Kung’s bioelectrical rhythms for evidence of movements and projectile attacks.

Lei Kung didn't try to run, he couldn't see how running at the moment would have any advantageous affect. It would just physically wear him out and eat away at his energy reserves, and with no idea how long this battle would be taking place he needed to learn to conserve. Though it was clear he would need to use something more powerful than his last move, as well a way to mask when he was going to attack. He directed energy to his hands, shooting electric bolts from both, though the ones from his gauntlet being considerably more powerful. He had his whole life to perfect his aim at shooting long distance, but The Hive's exoskeleton was reflecting the sun causing a glint that ran interference. Not to mention he had made himself smaller and was running much faster than the average human could.

If T'kkhe'kk was indeed like the ants of Earth this his shell was probably composed of something similar to keratin, which was a fairly poor conductor of electricity. That offered him more protection for Lei Kung's attack in its own way. A plan formed in his head revolving around what little facts he did no, and on the hope that this creature couldn't turn on a dime. He generate an energy shield around him staying in place and feeling like a target just waiting to die. Timing was everything. Lei Kung watched The Hive draw closer then charged forward himself, shield still up, but at the last minute he dove to the side. He absorbed some of the energy from his shield back into his gauntlet then shot it back out. A high power energy shot aimed not at vital organs but at one of the joints of the Homo-Optera's six limbs. If he was going to have any chance at lasting a little while longer in the battle he would need to find a way to immobilize The Hive, or at least slow him down. The second he had fired the shot he was back up on his feet and sprinting away. Now was the time to run.

The Hive
☠==== ==== ☠====

It took an indomitable spirit to continue his pursuit after the series of blasts which had been sent in his direction, causing him to deftly slip to the left and right to avoid each one with a simple cross handed push during his lope but Lei-Kung stood as a statue in the face of the danger that T’kkhe’kk represented which was cause for Alarm. Having already considered such factors, The Hive gave full credit to Lei-Kung’s ability at long range attacking so why was he not attempting to keep his distance from The Hive. It was a perplexing question which vexed The Hive, more so when he foeman started to sprint towards him. There were sinister implications at work, given the abilities and foresightedness of his Leader, T’kkhe’kk believed there was some form of ulterior motive to what was transpiring. These factors gave T’kkhe’kk reason to be as perceptive as possible to his erstwhile ally and the actions which followed. Luckily, The Hive’s compound eyes were much more adept at noticing the slightest of movements then a normal humans so as Lei-Kung fell to his side in a dive, The Hive was acting almost simultaneously by digging his left hands into the ground and sending himself into a spin to that side while thrusting forth his mesotoma and the cruel barbed stinger which was brandished there, which was already dripping infinitesimally with the potent neurotoxin which had the ability to incapacitate most individuals for a period of time at least Twenty Four Hours long.
It was like a dance that the two were preforming, his dive followed instantly by his spin. The blast of electrical shock dancing wide of The Hive, who had moved himself from the previous position, and the gleaming stinger which rocketed through the air aimed for Lei-Kung’s gut. The familiarity the two had with each other was probably going to be the biggest determining factor in this battle. The Hive knew his foe was crafty, understood that he harnessed a power that was (more than likely) fully beyond The Hive’s comprehension however, his electrical signatures made The Hive able to easily track his movements and his attacks which meant that every blast of electricity from Lei-Kung was telegraphed. But, conversely, The Hive would need to make his way towards his opponent in order to be of any use in this fight and there is the dilemma. .
