Inspecting the orange, yellow, and red leaves,Canter crossed the mountain areas to see the sights. They were extremely gorgeous like Callie had told him. She was born the November before and shared the sights she seen and how wonderful they were. He was more than excited to see if she was right. So far,she was.
The biggest one he wanted to witness was winter. He always heard it was so cold and that he'd get a huge winter coat.It was already growing in but he didn't notice too much, since its only the beginning stage. But it was more than exciting to see whatever Callie saw,so they could talk for hours about it.Callie was his only family,He knew of the others.Though, she was the only one who really knew where to find him to have a good talk. Hearing the crunching of the leaves and the coldness of the ground as he walked,Canter was slightly impressed.Just how she described it.The weather made him feel a little bit down and in a different mood than normal. Maybe the cold was getting to him.Canter still had to get used to the whole new stages of life that he hadn't seen yet.And he was willing to give them all one good go.

Sable huffed heavily, watching the clouds of breath escape her nostrils. The air had turned crisp and cool recently. The autumnal the chill in the air reminded her of her favorite part of spring. Unfortunately, the leaves on the trees were vanishing instead of growing out of the new twigs. And while the bright colors were amazing, she wasn't such a fan of all the crunchy, brown, dead, and dry leaves on the ground. They didn't taste good, and they covered up the grass. Plus, they were all crumbly, and they kept getting stuck in her tail when she laid on the ground. No, she much preferred the fresh, light green buds that arrived with the start of spring. Tasty, crisp buds...
Oh, how she was not looking forward to the winter. The food would be dry and flavorless, and it would be cold everywhere. Maybe the snow would be fun to play in for a while, but it was always hard to get warm again once chilled. She didn't have a herd to share warmth with, or a mate to curl up with. She usually just ended up practicing running a lot, although it was hard to run enough to get warm without getting sweaty, which then made her cold again.
The sound of an approaching Soquili grew louder as her thoughts streamed slowly through her brain. It finally caught her attention, and she shook her head, returning to reality. Who was out here? Sable trotted in the direction of the sound. As she traveled, her hooves kicked up clouds of leaves, leaving a trail of leaves fluttering toward the ground in her wake.

His eyes wandered as he made his way across the land. Little by little everything was coming together. Callie was right, but he certainly didn't like the cold or the leaves dying off. It made everything ugly in the end. He liked everything bright, beautiful, and living. Canter was sure Callie would let him stay with her,but he really didn't mind where he stayed. As long as he was able to keep warm and wouldn't get sick. That would be the worst because he didn't know anyone who practiced medicine.
That was one of Canter's low sides, he could come up with some random meals, but he couldn't tell someone how to treat a wound.Stuff like that made him feel queasy and made him nervous about it. Then again how often would something like that happen? Probably more than he expected it to.
Out of the corner of his eyes there was something running alone with leaves flying everywhere. He looked and it was a mare, feathers in her short gathered mane and long tail.Natural like himself,he never seen someone with a non-natural colored body color.Hoping one day he would. He wasn't sure what to say to a random mare,he kind of blushed away and kept quiet.

She noticed a young bay stallion with white socks walking. She was surprised that she'd run into another Soquili. She tended to wander a lot, as she'd not worked up the courage to find a new home -- not after what had happened at the last one. She wasn't sure she was ready to find a new family group, or whether she'd ever be... She'd lost everyone she knew. The possibility of rejection by a herd, let alone the prospect of growing close to a community, was much too daunting to face. Thinking about it made her shudder.
But, several months had passed, and she supposed it was probably time for her to make at least a few acquaintances. So instead of turning and heading away from the stranger, she trotted right up to him. "Hello," she said softly, "Who are you?"

He was too nervous to really look at her so he kept moving forward.Hopefully she'd miss him and think he was just a bit of mud moving around the snow. But he cringed and looked over, the mare was calling out to him.For what? Why him."Hello." He replied and cleaned himself up for the mare. Made himself look strong and had a lot of confidence. "I am Canter, who are you?"

Sable studied him. He was a lovely dark bay color, with bright, white socks on his legs and a large mark on his face. He was young but appeared confident and kind. "My name is Sable," she told him. "Do you live around here?" The snow was lying in a thin layer across the ground, but it began to fall again, drifting gently from the sky. It melted as soon as it touched their warmth. Sable knew she'd be cold later if she didn't get under cover and keep from getting totally wet from the melting crystals. She looked up at the sky, seeing grey clouds begin to roll in, foretelling a much larger snowfall. Her head turned slowly to survey the land and saw a small patch of evergreens off to the east, not far from them. She waved her nose at it. "Let's go stand under cover," she suggested. "Better than getting soaked!"
