So, the great heard has broken up! The Alpha has sent his kin to do their own bidding. No longer is the herd in one group, but they have shattered, and separated, spreading far and wide throughout the Kawani.

They are no longer under the strict rules of the Great Alpha and Protector. They are now free to live lives their own way.

That being said, whatever are the great herd leaders to do? That is now all up to you, the players.

This is a group RP Contest for the old Alpha, Protector, and their two children.

We Are Family

Quote:
The Ex-Alpha

Username: Nyhility

Soquili name: Caldriin
Soquili Temper: Brutal

Personality:
Despite being the Alpha to a herd, and a mother of two, Caldriin can best be described as self-serving. Everything she ever plots and says in life, she does for the sole purpose of her own goals. Her theory is that if you want something done right, then do it yourself. It is for this reason that she is very critical when it comes to the development of those she associates with. In her mind, her legacy and reputation will be reflected on the achievements of her family and herd. If they can't fit into her perfect mold, then she will not hesitate to finish them off. (Whether it's face-to-face or a stab in the back depends on her mood.)

Thoughts on the current events: Furious.
Failure was never an option for this mare, and to suffer such a humiliating defeat has left her ego wounded. And to know that traitors played a hand in the lose of this war, Caldriin has forsaken the Alpha status except for the company of her own family and the most loyal of her herd. One day they will return, stronger than ever and unified by their bloodline to defeat the Kawani natives.

Additional Character Info:
* Has only mutual respect for her mate to produce strong heirs.
* Is blinded during the final battle, forcing her to stall her future plans for revenge.
* Will fiercely protect (and discipline) her offspring from the influences of others.

The Ex-Protector

Username: pinkdog

Soquili name: Karthad
Soquili Temper: Driven

Personality: To Karthad, family is the most important thing in existence. However, to him “family” is not defined in the usual sense of close bloodlines; it is the connection of all those of pure Kalona blood, united in their desire and their determination to preserve said pure bloodlines for all eternity, and against all interlopers.

From a young age, Karthad had idolized his father, Mentos, whom had been the Protector of his own herd. Mentos was strong and led well, but displayed a crushing inflexibility that made him unpopular with some and admired by others, especially his son Karthad. Yet Mentos had been overthrown by a traitorous mixed-blood and those that had chosen to turn their backs on pride and betray their herd. Karthad’s wrath exploded during this time and engulfed him in a burning hatred for all mixed-bloods, a passionate flame that drove him to create, in time, a herd pure of such a scourge of tainted blood.

Thoughts on the current events:
Karthad had been so sure. So sure that this war against the filthy, rotten tainted-bloods would be won within days. How could they ever hope to stand up again the true, strong, righteous force of his Kalona herd? Again his mate, who drove his fierce warriors into a frenzy of rage? Against the Kalona spirit himself, who could not but guide their victory? It was unthinkable. It was an incalculable injustice. And that injustice burned in him, adding to the fire that had been lit their long ago.

Karthad’s one source of hope in this disaster was the knowledge that his own son had survived. Thought at first to be a still-born, Lykos had burst from his basket after the first battle, alive and strong. Karthad felt this was a true good omen from the Kalona spirit; while their great herd was scattered to the wind now, while he had once again been betrayed, victory would rise from the ashes. His pure blooded herd family would again unite… someday… and the impure would pay with all the mix blood that could poor from their limp, lifeless bodies…

Additional Character Info:
*Karthad loves when his mate verbally abuses and punishes his foals. He believes this will encourage them to toughen up and grow into strong warriors without unnecessary sentimentality.
*Though Karthad offers no love and comfort to his daughter, he secrently can’t help but be attached to her. She along could persuade him to abandon his path and move in another direction.

Quote:
The Son

Username: Cheyriddle4

Soquili name: Lykos
Soquili Temper: Hot headed

Personality: With a very quick fuse, Lykos is one to not only get even when wrongdoings are done to him. He makes sure that they pay. Smart and able to think quickly he knows what he wants. Along with being ambitious enough to get it. Usually when his temper lights he goes all out in trying to make sure that he gets the others weak spots. Yet when he cools down he is able to see reason. But at that point the damage is done. Lykos is fiercely loyal to his family through thick and thin. No matter on whether he agrees with them or not. Blood is thicker than water and he would fight to the death to protect them and do his part.

Thoughts on the current events: Lykos doesn't quite agree with everything that his parents stand for. Yet he does agree that mixing with lessers is despicable. As far as he can tell the others are attacking his family. Something he doesn't like at all. His blood boils to seek revenge upon those that blinded his mother. It is the things done to hurt his family that fuels his loathing towards the lessers. Not the ideals that his parents hold dear. As the herd fell apart all he felt was the annoyance of his sister's presence and anger towards those that beat them. He doesn't like the bitter taste of failure.

Additional Character Info: Lykos was thought to be stillborn at first. Little does his parents know that he deliberately stayed still in the basket as he gathered information. He needed the information to know how his parents minds worked. It wasn't until the middle of the first battle when he got out of the basket like all hell broke loose. His relationship with his sister is one of constant annoyance and anger. Yet even though they fight often he still is fond of her. He has a healthy fear of his parents yet he respects them. He strives to be a strong fighter and leader like his father. He looks up to his father. Yet when Lykos grows older he could easily turn out to be a sociopath who doesn't fear his parents anymore. Instead willing to fight with them to get his way.

Quote:
The Daughter

Username: Natsuko-neko

Soquili name: Skylla
Soquili Temper: Fiesty

Personality: Quick to temper but not as quick to fight. She prefers to taunt her opponant until they, in anger, make a mistake where she can exploit their weakness. She can't stand not being the center of her parents attention and will do almost anything to get it. She firmly believes that they are better then the other breeds but doesn't want them exterminated or driven out.

Thoughts on the current events: Skylla came out of her basket shortly after the herd arrived so she got to 'witness' the events. She did agree that they are superior to any Kawani but she came to see the 'cause' of her parents as something that needs to be dropped as it took up all of their time. She would throw some fits just to get them to pay attention but limited them since it was 'important' work they were doing. To her it felt like a good thing when the herd fell apart and the fighting stopped though she was still mad that anyone would betray her mother and father.

Additional Character Info:

The Story Continues

Their story:

Affection is not an attribute that the Kalona’s herd’s Protector, Karthad, could be accused of. Family was important. It was paramount, but it was driven by duty, not love. Love was not an emotion Karthad recognized. Toward his immediate family, his mate and two foals, Karthad did not generally associate more affection or duty than he did any other member of his extended herd family. It was true that he did, perhaps, like his mate better than some other members of the herd. However, this was to be expected. Karthad and Caldriin had been, from their first meeting, united in their fierce hatred toward a common enemy and had thus gained a mutual respect for one another. He would concede that he might be less willing to sacrifice her than another, but no further. The same could be said of his young foals. Towards his daughter he felt mostly indifference. She had not seemed to take the on the fierce mantle of the hatred toward the mixed bloods that her parents had. He was greatly disappointed in this fact, in her, for this great fault…. And yet, though he would not admit it to himself and certainly not to any other, he could likely be led around quite easily by his young daughter, should she wish to extend influence over him. To his son, Lykos, Karthad felt the most pride. His son, whom had been born in blood and battle, was somewhat twisted creature, quick to anger. Karthad highly prized this trait and had high hopes that that fierceness combined with level-headedness, would make him a true Kalona warrior in time.

The Alpha, Caldriin, is equally, if not even more viciously brutal in her devotion to the cause. Caldriin does not understand the concept of love, yet she is drawn to Karthad with what could perhaps be described as a feeling of mutual respect. Towards her children, she bonds with whichever foal seems strongest, which only time will tell… Even so, she'd be a fierce parent protecting them. Losing the war and being injured has made her even more harsh…even toward family.

Coming out of his basket in the thick of battle, Lykos held no regrets for staying in the basket for longer than needed. His temper alight and blazing he helped in whatever way he could. After the first battle was when he first encountered his father face to face. His mother and father are both fearsome Kalona yet he only feels proud to be their son. He will be able to learn from the best. Yet his sisters pesky presence dims his enthusiasm as she seems hellbent on angering him. Throughout the times between battles he diligently learned how to fight. Along with observing the herd, his parents, and fighting with his sister. Some of which have gotten very bloody. His parents pulled in the masses to joining their cause. Talks of purity to the Kalona line, the land being rightfully there and other such spiels. He detests admitting this to himself, but he only somewhat agrees to the message. Indeed he finds the thought of mixing with lessers revolting. Yet why do they need the land when they have so much already? As time goes by he himself have gone into the fray of battle with his mother and other foals in to back. With each battle his ideals become more firm. His goals absolute. Lykos strived to become more like his father. With every battle he gives it his all. His temper being a useful tool to drive him to become better.

The last battle was one of the most memorable ones. The battle which struck his loathing towards the lessers. As blood was spilt a group attacked his mother. She fought viciously and without hesitation. Yet in the end she was blinded. As the battle ended he and his sister stayed by their mother. His eyes roamed everywhere searching for their father. Where was he? Lykos couldn’t see him as they seemed to have been separated. A warm flame started to burn that day. Hatred for Lesser’s burned in his heart as he moved forward. His hatred would fuel him throughout his life. Yet now as they leave the battlefield they go in search of his father.

Skylla does not understand this emotion love. To her parents she has respect and a deep yearning for their attention, whether it be positive or negative. On the other hand she doesn't know what to feel about her brother. Since he survived it means she isn't an only child and has to share their parents attention. To make things worse she can see how their sire favors him over her and it ticks her off. Yet at the same time he is family so she might feel some affection for him. Maybe.

Any Plot ideas of what will happen to them after the great Exodus?:

During the final battle, Karthad was in the front lines fighting while Caldriin, Lykos, and Skylla were in the back of the herd, fighting in the midst of a contingent of mothers and foals, whom had gathered together. When the fighting ended and the herd broke apart and scattered, Karthad became separated from Caldriin and his foals. The immediate furture will see the family out searching for one another. This relatively simple task will be complicated by the young age of the foals, the chaos of the post-battle surroundings, and severe injuries that were inflicted on Caldriin during the battle, which may leave her blind. Once reunited once more will they embark to rally the troops and find others from their herd in efforts to seek revenge. Karthad knows that his mate Caldriin would join him in the desire to reunite and continue the fight again the pure bloods, however, her blindness may hinder them all. During this time Lykos will greatly be influenced to join the cause by his father. Groomed to perform his duty as the son of the Alpha and Protector. Then as time goes on slowly Lykos himself will grow to be a sociopath. Skylla will help Caldriin and Lykos look for Karthad and try to subtly influence them to give up the idea of conquest, if only to keep them from ignoring her for the 'cause'.

The Ex-Alpha

Soquili name:

Rhydian Jaggedmaw

Soquili Temper:

Unyielding

Personality:

Rhydian ruled with an iron hoof when he was in his prime no one dared question him. He is complex and mysterious he would rather send out his henchman than appear himself. When he was a foal his parents taught him about the good things in life they were not typical kalona. He himself grew to love the world and his parents finding love in the world. He fell in love with a kwani mare she did not fear him and in return he loved her. Bonds cannot last forever though he later leanred she was only playing him to get to his heart and rip it out. She betrayed him and he became unstable lashing out at the things he once loved. The kalona nature his parents tried so hard to stop had revealed itself.

Rhydian turned into a leader joining a kalona heard at the bottom of the ranks being forced to serve them. He had a plan though one day he wold take over as alpha. When that day came he had earned trust among the other kalona he betrayed the alpha getting him to go alone with him and watching him fall off a cliff to his death. He went back and said it was an accident and no one dared question him leading to his becoming alpha. The kalona were now his underlings and he commanded them to take out his enimes one by one. He would rarely appear in person but when he did something extreme was happening. During his convert from loving to brute he had learned to fight and was as vicious as they came. Not being afraid to play dirty was the strong point of his heard.

He would wipe out those who betrayed him just as his own heart was ripped out. He now had a family though he never wanted one. He would not ever love his beats were a mistake those foals he never wanted. It had been an accident in a moment of weakness and he cursed himself for it. He had no love for his children they would grow up without him and would only make him proud if they grew up and won there battle on the opposing. Where he had failed they would succeed only then would he would here be somewhat proud of them. He would never love and he did not want any more mistakes either he would only breed if he chose to and wanted to not because he felt weak in the moment. The protector knew very well what she was doing when he recived the new she was expecting..He was furious but it was his own fault. He would always be unforgiving to those displeasing to him. He would make examples of those who displeased him.

Thoughts on the current events:

Now that he was an ex alpha he would not give in. The battle was lost but the war is not over. He was overthrown but he would regain his status and he would do whatever it took to get there. Not one to give up easily and stubborn as a rock. He was a leader no matter how many times he feel he would get back up and keep fighting. He was humiliated the fact that he lost all his forces in a single encounter. He glanced around the area and growled that was not how things were meant to go. They had been winning but the tides had turned all at once. Being driven out and betrayed once again what fate was that? Many had left his side because they were loosing they lost fate in there own breed and feel back or deserted. Those weaklings would be found no matter what it took they would not live with those actions. His thoughts were like an ocean rushing out at once trying to find a place to go. He roared out in his frustration thrashing about kicking trees and dirt in his anger.

"I WILL FIND YOU!!! YOU THINK YOU WON??? THE BATTLE IS FAR FROM OVER!" his rage is un comparable to anything and he crouches down low spreads his wings and makes a flying leap into the air. He starts to rise and pick up speed snarling his tail thrashing about in his anger. "I will never take defeat we are and always will be to great to fail!" Even not in his prime even if he was starting to show his age he would never be able to loose. Pulling his wings in he allowed himself to plummet spreading his wings again at the last second gliding down to the battle field. He surveyed the area not caring if he was seen by others. If they were celebrating he would not run and hide. He would rather die a hero than die a coward who ran from a lost battle. Spotting another in the distance he growled softly and shook his head his was not the time or place it was not time for another battle.

He was angry at himself but he would have to turn back and return to his place of hiding. There he would plot and find a way to win the war. He would build a new army even if he was replaced and was the ex aplha he would rise again and show the new alphas he was not to be counted out. He would be the alpha of a new generation and of a new age. His cause was great and there had to be some honor less scum willing to follow him he had once been there. "I will avenge those who died proudly..i dont care about you i never did but i will avenge you for my own reasons" he smirked and let out a evil laugh he was willing to do things others would never try to restore what was once his. "If you think you wont you have not seen anything yet" he started walking back to his so called family though he had none evil thoughts clouding his mind. The recent events had changed nothing history would rewrite itself all he needed was time.

Additional Character Info:

Rhydian wont accpect what happened even if he was the one who played a part in the heard disbanding. He believed that in order to grow stronger he must let them go there separate ways and those tryley loyal would someday seek him out. He is hard to please and very stubborn refuses to love so he has no chance to ruin anything. Deep inside he is afraid he would be a bad leader for his family and foals so he shuns them and wont think about them. He is battle hardened but that feeling is hidden away under everything else. Its not love or compassion he would just not want to make a fool of himself because of the way the family might turn out. He is also going blind slowly but surely his past is catching up to him in age. No one knows that thought and he wont ever tell anyone but his vision is not as it used to be. His joints ache but he never shows the pain he lives with there is no weakness.

The Ex-Protector

Username:

~Twilight...Angel~

Soquili name:

Sorcha Nuada

Soquili Temper:

Cunning

Personality:

Sorcha is as ruthless and unkind as they come, but only when she has to be. She instills fear into those she comes across and those who have wronged her. Having a wise and cunning personality has helped her in nearly any situation she has gotten herself into. Though most of her race prefers physical, she prefers to play mind games. It's much more pleasing to see an enemy break down, than to bleed. In being the protector of her clan, she knew the ways around their land like the back of her flank. Always being able to outrace and out maneuver any opponent who dared to enter their territory.

Sorcha has never had a hard life. Her family has been protecting different areas and groups for years. Leading to her being taught the proper way to do things by siblings and parent alike. Her skills are a mixture of the best from relatives. They celebrate her as the best in their family, having the utmost amount of pride just being related to her.

Though Sorcha is ruthless, she does have a soft side. She cares for her children much more than she is willing to admit. Wanting them to grow up to be powerful and intelligent. She realizes that all too many of her race are strong, but lack the mind to avoid situations where strength gets you no where. And she needs her children to understand such things. Though she often sees their unimaginative father in them, she tries to ignore such things. She would rather her children take joy in slowly bringing someone to their knees mentally than physically. In her mind, you can do a lot more damage simply by toying with someone.

Thoughts on the current events:

Sorcha is more disappointed about having to leave her well known land behind than anything else. Though she knows this has brought about the end of an era for her kind, she is simply not as moved by it as her son or his father. She has already decided on finding new territory and making a nice area for herself and the children. With her newly acquired free time, she has decided on finding new torture victims. Making new games to play with them when she can. A new favorite is catching someone, but then pretending to be merciful, letting them go. Then following them back home to the ones they love, and destroying each of them one by one until they all breakdown. Maiming one is the quickest way to get a reaction, but soft spoken lies into their ears is much more damaging. She often tears entire families apart, just to watch them try and live again months after she is done with them.

Additional Character Info:

- Want to play a game?
- Would do anything for her children, but doesn't let it show.
- Has complete and utter disdain for the ex-alpha.
- Not very world worn, only just getting started in her own adventures.
- Now has lots of free time!

The Son

Username:

xxx Yuki Bear xxx

Soquili name:

Clovis Alcuin

Soquili Temper:

Hostile

Personality:

Barbaric :: Clovis takes after his father when it comes to his barbarian ways. He has no problem slaughtering anything in his path. He will rip and tear and slice apart anyone that dare make him look bad - especially in front of his family. Mercy is a luxury that Clovis rarely offers to his victims. He destroys the lives of others so that he can sooth his own pain.

Covetous :: Because Clovis never quite got a loving, complete familial experience growing up, he is incredibly jealous of happy families. In fact, he becomes so overcome with anger and envy that he develops a habit of abducting children from passing families so that they may feel his pain. Whether or not he kills or maims these foals ultimately depends on his mood.

Devious :: Clovis enjoys nothing more than causing utter havoc. He believes that upholding the strong, purist Kalona ways will garner his absent father's approval in some twisted way. Because of this, he often finds himself luring children and mares to their deaths and instigating major fights and wars between herds. Chaos is a malleable tool within his hooves.

Thoughts on the current events:

At this point Clovis is a young foal and realizes that something is horribly wrong. The once strong, proud, and evil Kalona herd he had began his early years within had split at the seams. All at once, he was left with just his immediate family, and was ripped from those he had become familiar with in the herd. He sticks to his sister because of their closeness and similar habits. With his cruel father not having an entire herd to focus on, Clovis feels nervous that he will fail in his eyes, and this ultimately begins his descent into bloodthirsty madness.

When he is grown, he looks back on the current events as the main source of his pain. He takes out his anger on any Kawani he comes across. It is ultimately their fault that his herd split apart, at least in his mind.

Additional Character Info:

- He HATES children
- Deep down, he'd do anything to gain his father's love
- He has an unhealthy obsession with blood and the color red
- He is extremely possessive of anything he sees as his
- He has never tried Usdia meat, but thinks it'd be swell

Quote:
The Daughter

Username:

-Diamond-Elephant-

Soquili name:

Reginleif Sanngriðr

Soquili Temper:

Prideful

Personality:

Although only young, Reginleif has already become quite the prideful young filly, possessing a great deal of pride for being kalona and an air of disdain for anything her parents teachings have told her to be beneath her. At first she hadn't understood her father's lack of love for his family, but it soon became evident. Like her brother, Reginleif too became eager to please. Doing whatever it took to try and turn an approving gaze from their father upon them, her efforts have since proven futile, yet that has not dissuaded her in the slightest, merely strengthened her resolve. A stubborn thing, she will gain her father's approval. Somehow.

It is her brother that she is closest to, and together they create quite the terrifying twosome. Even despite being so young. He a devious and barbaric sort, and she calculating and hostile, when she wishes to be. In her own way she shows him affection, a sharp bite of the ear, a battering of her horns. But never in front of their father, she'd never be so stupid. Her mother she knows not how to think of her, other than having a great deal of respect for the mare. Where does she stand in her eyes? She knows where she stands with her father, with her brother. But her mother? It is a mystery to the filly.

Still very young Reginleif is also very impressionable, the opinions and actions of others around her often swaying her views and deeds. Perhaps as she gets older events may change her opinions and temper towards the world and those in it. Perhaps she will cease trying to please her father, believing he is no longer worth it. Or perhaps she could become so very much worse. Only time will tell.

Thoughts on the current events:

The young filly's chest heaved unsteadily, green eyes wide and mouth hung agape in horror at the events unfolding before her. They were kalona, proud and strong. They did not lose, they did not flee. And yet, here they were. Their numbers significantly diminished, the lesser forces cutting them down and pushing them back. The tides had been changed... And for the worse. Swarms of leathery wings took flight as hordes of bruised and bloodied kalona fighters fled for their lives. Evidently they felt their alpha's cause was not one worth dying for. After all they had worked for. After all her father and mother had worked for. After all the battles, the deaths. Did none of it matter now?

Apparently not.

From the very start her parents had taught her that they were strong and powerful and far better and above those not of kalona blood, of lessers. That they should rule over all with an iron hoof, that the very mention of kalona should instil fear in the hearts of many... The seeds of doubt had begun to be sown within Reginleif's mind. After all, so many had deserted her father, part of his own herd had even betrayed him. What did that say about the validity of his cause?

Little wings flexed uneasily as the filly backed away and toward her mother and brother, unwittingly seeking refuge beneath the mare's legs. Her gaze remained wide and dumbstruck, searching the battlefield for any evidence of her father. She soon found him soaring above in the darkening sky, a terrifying visage to behold. His enraged roars prompted an instinctual defensive growl forth from Reginleif's muzzle as she backed further beneath her mother. She hated when her father was like this. He'd take his rage out on them.

Additional Character Info:

- Closest to her brother and eventually mother
- Eventually decides that trying to please her father is a lost cause

The Story Continues

Their story:

They were unhappy from the start. It didn't take a genius to notice that the family was dysfunctional and held together with the thinnest strands of luck. Harsh words and physical strikes flew around often as those below their Alpha averted their eyes from the violent displays. When the foals arrived, the bonds became even more strained. Baskets that should have been doted upon were left alone and often forgotten. When the squirming, winged foals emerged from their small confines, they were thrust into herd life immediately. The Alpha, not used to giving attention and love, and not really used to children at all, focused on his herd during the day and reprimanding them at night. When life in the herd was slow, the family suffered because of it.

And suddenly - a purpose. A war to fight. Something to divert the Alpha's attention. All was seemingly peaceful with the small broken family as the fields ran red with the blood of Lessers. That is, until the Kalona started to lose. As their numbers thinned, so did their patience. With his obviously dwindling power apparent, he cast away those that were left and was stuck with his protector and two children. The Alpha never wanted a family. Without a war to distract them from their situation, it became incredibly clear that the family bonds were rotten and festering.

Any Plot ideas of what will happen to them after the great Exodus?:

After the great Exodus, the four are split from the herd. Rhydian takes his reluctant family away. The children are raised harshly by their alpha father, who hated the idea of having a family and is very vocal about it. He begins to leave on trips more often, until he disappears entirely from their lives. Sorcha despises Rhydian and educates the children on manipulation and torture in secret.

Both Clovis and Reginleif grow up to be merciless killers, caring only for the mother that gave them kindness and taught them all they knew. They terrorize Lessers all across the land, soothing their own inner turmoil with the blood of the innocent.

Some Specific Plots...

Eye of the Beholder :: Rhydian goes blind in one eye and tires of the constant bothers that are his children and Sorcha. He finally leaves for good. Clovis and Reginleif still yearn for the approval of a father figure.

Mother Dearest :: With Rhydian out of the way, Sorcha teaches her children the ways of manipulation and torture. Twisted Mother-Son-Daughter bonding ensues.

Blood is Thicker :: Clovis and Reginleif will grow close due to their mutual love for chaos and eventually leave their family upon reaching adulthood. They form a team and go on killing sprees, becoming a masterful and lethal Kalona duo.

Father Dearest :: Clovis and Reginleif are now masters at luring and killing prey. Rhydian comes upon them and sees them all grown up and murderous. At this point, Clovis and Reginleif have gotten over their inner need to try to make Rhydian proud. They decide to put their mother's teachings to good use...

The Ex-Alpha

Username: Mameha Otome

Soquili name: Shamshir
Soquili Temper: Resentful

Personality: She is incredibly war-driven. She always looks for and tries to find a way to take control of a situation. In this fashion she can at least guarantee that she gets what she wants. With the break of the herd, she has started become increasingly resentful on top of that. She feels that every comment or action against her was said or made to sleight her character and add insult to injury.

Thoughts on the current events: Shamshir paced back and forth, hissing to herself in frustration. She paused briefly, long enough to stare at her mate and children, wondering what was running through their minds at the moment. It wasn't long before she resumed her pacing. Her herd, everything she had worked towards, was gone. She no longer had warriors to lead valiantly into battle. She no longer was in a position to issue grand speeches and commands at Claymore's side to motivate her warriors.

No. All because of the Great Kalona.

Why had he failed them? Why had he betrayed his kind? The questions ran through her mind multiple times, trying desperately to find an answer. There was no reason for him to lead them towards defeat. Was this punishment for something she had done?

NO!

Shamshir refused to believe that. She was the greatest leader any Kalona herd had ever known. She had done everything right! She had done everything the Great Kalona ever told her through the shaman!

She paused again and looked towards Claymore and her children once more. Perhaps it was time to start fresh...make new sacrafices to the Great Kalona...find some way to get him back on her side. Not sacraficing her family, of course. No. She needed to take the time to round up a new herd, with new bait and leave Claymore once more in charge of training the recruits.

Next time she made her move, she was going to be sure the Great Kalona was on her side and she was not going to fail to take this land again.

Additional Character Info: She greatly welcomes the love and devotion from her mate, glad to have him at her side constantly. Despite her war-driven personality, she somtimes looks towards Claymore for even subtle agreements toward whatever plan she has in mind. Her relationship with her children has also started to become strained and slip. She's very stern with them both in order to keep them in line with her plans and how she expects them to be raised. The recent events have started to push them away from her however.

The Ex-Protector

Username: Of The Epidemic

Soquili name: Claymore
Soquili Temper: Dedicated

Personality: Claymore is an extremely complex and layered individual. On the surface he is unrelenting, dedicated, loyal, proud, vicious and short tempered. While all of this is true, that isn’t all he is. It’s clear in the way he holds himself that he is a prideful sort, painfully so at times, believing clearly in the power of his kind. He is a vicious fighter, with a temper that flares from time to time. Being trained in the art of war since he was very young, he is an exceedingly gifted tactician. His battle abilities are clear, his great size giving him an advantage sometimes.

He is the dedicated; if he sets his mind to something he rarely abandons the project. Perhaps his deepest devotion, which is also his deepest secret, is the dangerously tender emotion he feels for Shamshir. He dare not give voice to it, but it could perhaps be called love. She, he holds above all else, even at times the betterment of the heard. Though he was loyal to all his family, his herd, his fidelity to his alpha, his mate, is perhaps his deepest weakness.

Claymore’s pride in his children is at once heartbreaking and beautiful. Their birth was, and will remain, one of the happiest moments of his life, though as a parent he has many faults. He does try to teach them how he was taught; sometimes, however, he finds himself being a bit too soft with one or the other. At these points he grows angry with himself, finding too much of his mother within him. It makes for a curious relationship with his children.

However, it does show that below the surface of the convoluted exterior is something more, a deeper twisting of things that seems hidden. There are tender emotions there, a gentleness that was perhaps beat down, but refuses to fully leave him. He has done well to lock up the ‘weak’ inside of him. Still, there are times it seems to seep free, making him grow cold and angry.

Thoughts on the current events: Claymore knew in a way, like how one knows it’s their time to go, that the heard was going to scatter. It was a bone deep, instinctual, sort of feeling that his warrior mind couldn’t seem to shake. He is angry, but at the same time he feels his call was the right one. He protected his heard up till his very last; he did his duty. While in a way it pains him to see Shamshir so bitter with what happened, he can’t seem to find it within himself to wallow in self pity. Everyone had heard the whispers, soft like the beating of a butterfly wing. As soon as things had started progressing there had been the gentle undercurrent of unrest in the heard. It angered him to see them disbanded, but it was what had, in a way, been what was best.

He sees this as the closing of one book and the opening of another. They are scattered, perhaps beaten, but not dead. This is a chance to build anew. He can’t help the slight bitterness within himself, the feeling of defeat that threatens to engulf his being. Still, Claymore refuses to bow down and let this break him. They must simply become better; he will help build Shamshir a new heard. It is his eventual hope to see it happen. They will be strong again, and he will protect them until that time is reached. Perhaps some of the heard will come back together, and be better for what has happened.

Angry, and resentful though he may be, bitter even, a small part of himself almost finds this freeing, though it’s a part he would never dare speak of. He hates the vulnerability they now have to face, but he holds true to the fact that, in the end, they will preserver.

Additional Character Info:

Claymore’s father is where he learned to be the battle hard stallion that he is. His mother is where his softer emotions come from. She, while still a proud mare, was one that believed in showing her family, her children mostly, her softer side. That it was ok to be soft with your family. Those are the ones you should feel safe with. After her death however, Claymore locked all the soft, tender things she taught him away.

Username: PixelDeerest

Soquili name: Kaskara
Soquili Temper: Righteous

Personality:
The only thing Kaskara believed in more than the blood-shed their family had brought upon the lands, was that they were doing a good deed. He believes that there is nothing more important than being whole and pure, and that every measure must be taken to become such. As it happens, the only thing he's known for his whole life is blood shed, and without his parents thoroughly telling him why so many were be slaughtered, Kaskara came to his own conclusions that they must be doing this for a higher purpose - perhaps to cleanse the land of all who were unholy and unclean, those who did not breed with only their kind to stay pure, and to make the surrounding lands more holy and pure for those that remained as such. To him, blood is white and white is clean. His vision is distorted, and he considers himself a holy solider in training. Kaskara loves to kill, believe eating the provided flesh of his enemies is a blessing which provides him with their strength, gains enjoyment and pleasure from it, and sees it as an act of goodwill. He truly believes that if he fells one who is impure in front of another, that they will praise and welcome him for doing such a good deed. To anyone else, they would surely only see a bloody, crazy colt, but through his eyes he only sees good.

Thoughts on the current events:
Kaskara stood, staring at only the grass....how could..... this happen? He was.....so devoted. So......pure, yet he was being told - they were all being told that they had not done a good enough job. The Great Kalona had said it, in fact. Why? Maybe it was not him that had failed. Perhaps....his parents? They were the ones responsible for the success of the cleansing and they had not done it well enough. Maybe the Great Kalona had deemed them unclean?
Kaskara looked up at them, as they stood huddled with anger and displeasure rolling off them like tremulous waves at the break of a storm, and he saw them in a slightly off-kilter light. He was torn between his love for his family, and his absolute devotion to his duty. His insides shook, and he bit his tongue hard. He would need time to think. Kaskara was starting to feel a bit......sick.

Additional Character Info:
After their failure, he is beginning to doubt his parents
As he is a soldier, he is more of a follower than a leader, and chooses to follow his sister's orders to carry out his duties
Depending on how future relations with his parents go, he could either break off with his parents, or mend their shaky relationship.

The Daughter

Username: Lady Argentum Draconis

Soquili name: Tizona
Soquili Temper: Bitter

Personality: Never outwardly showing anger, her rage builds slowly and burns like cold fire. She holds grudges and even nurses them after the target of her ire has long since passed from this world. Anyone who crosses her may never even know that they have wronged her until she extracts her revenge weeks, months, or even years later.

Thoughts on the current events: Outwardly she showed nothing, but inside, inside she was smoldering. How they could be so, so...Stupid! They failed and all because some crazy mare with a dead badger had said so! But the Great Kalona said so, neyh neyh neyh. she snorted quietly to herself. They hadn't even tried! You couldn't tell her that people didn't defy Gods all the time and cut their own path, but not her parents. Oh no, instead they'd decided that all was lost, time to pack it in and give up everything they'd worked for. Cowards! Shameful cowards! She was embarrassed to recognize them as her parents. Could you even Prove that Kalona was the one who'd spoken through the shaman mare? NO! Not unless you were willing to put it to the test! Besides didn't gods have better things to do than meddle in the affairs of mortals? Seemed a pretty poor existance if that was all you got to do.
She barred her teeth wanting to sink them into flesh, feel the gush of hot salty blood. Instead Tizona took a deep breath and let it out slowly finding the calm center inside of herself, letting the rage swirl around her. She would not let it be the master of her. Someday though...she would let it loose and her parents would pay for their failure.

Additional Character Info: Tizona doesn't trust her parents judgement anymore. She believes they were stupid and allowed themselves to be duped, instead of fighting like a good kalona should. She believes that everything is her parent's fault, not Kalona's. Her personal stance is that Gods don't meddle in the mortal world and it's up to everyone to cut their own path, and shouldn't let a prophecy dictate one's actions.

The Story Continues

Their story:

Shamshir smirked to herself, looking quite pleased with how things were progressing. Her gaze turned to her mate down the hill below her. Busy as always with keeping her warriors in fighting condition. Even with the push back they'd suffered and the loss of land they were certain they had, things were still going smooth and in her favor. She was certain that they would continue to win everything else. They would claim this land in favor of the Great Kalona and rid the world of the lessers.

Eventually Shamshir proceeded down the hill to meet with her mate. Claymore had just turned away from the training session, expecting her to still be upon the hill and watching. Instead he was greeted with a short nuzzle and a brush of her wings against him.

"Shamshir..."

"Coming to observe closer." She murmured, walking past the small group of kalona training before her. Eventually she paused and turned back to her mate. "And where are my precious little warriors?" She purred, advancing back towards him.

"Not too far, they've both spent the day here among the fighters."

"Perfect." Shamshir smirked again and looked around for the two foals. Claymore had been correct, they weren't too far off from them. Upon seeing their parents together, Tizona and Kaskara both made a beeline in their direction.

They were like second shadows for their parents. Never far from them and always keeping a watchful eye on their actions. The pair seemed a little strange though to outsiders. Their focus was always on their parents, rarely on each other. They were like two ships passing in the night. Maybe a brief acknowledgment that the other existed but that seemed to be it.

"Momma!" Tizona seemed about to stumble over her own hooves but gracefully recovered with a flick of wings. She nuzzled up to the mare and looked up blood still coating part of her muzzle. "I caught a rabbit today." she said with a delighted tone and wicked little grin.

Kaskara on the other hand stopped just short of his father and nodded to each of them. He was quieter than Tizona but still just as observant. He seemed to have some odd ideas about cleanliness and purity that if asked he could go on about at length, but for the most part he kept his mouth shut and his eyes open. A good quality, a great quality for a leader, but those "ideas!" Shamshir loved her son, but hoped he would grow out of them before he became some sort of fanatic, and ruined his prosects.

"My little huntress." Shamshir smiled proudly and nuzzled her daughter in return. Nothing made her happier than to see her children growing strong and capable. "There are many more things than just that rabbit to come. Things I know you can take down easily." She finished, turning her attention towards her son.

Claymore smirked at Tizona's happiness, quite proud himself that the hunting and fighting skills he had been teaching them were going to be of good use. After a moment, his gaze followed that of his mate's. He always knew Kaskara to be a little standoffish, but it never stopped him from doing anything.

"Kaskara..." Shamshir murmured, nuzzling her son as well before returning to her mate's side. "You'll be sure to make me proud later, yes?" She asked, giving him a look. Claymore chuckled slightly to himself at his mate's comment. He knew their son would make them both proud as a warrior.

"He'll be the strongest of them all, Shamshir." Claymore added with a firm nod.

"Yes. I would hope so of your son. The strongest and bravest. Come now, let's clean up and prepare. Our shaman should be returning with word from The Great Kalona soon."

Any Plot ideas of what will happen to them after the great Exodus?:
- At some point, Tizona and Kaskara will rise up against their parents. This leads up to a huge blow out between all of them, blame falling on their parents because of the loss of the herd and everything they had going for them. This results in the two foals/young adults leaving.

- At some point both Claymore and Shamshir want their children back. Albeit for different reasons between the two, but they will advance to try and find them. There will be hurt among the two mates that will also need to be resolved in this time.

- The family will have to face someone who wishes them dead because of the mess, heartache and other trouble they stirred up when leading the Kalona herd. The role can be filled by anyone (Kawani or ex-herd member) and the family will have to fight them off somehow.

- Claymore will find time to tack down the old second in command.

- Shamshir is also on the hunt to regain a foothold with a new herd (made up of new members or old ones that wish to return) and attempt to start trying to take over different plots of land again. She mostly thirsts for the thrill and power of running a group and having them do her bidding.

The Ex-Alpha

Username: Ladyfirefox89

Soquili name: Salyne
Soquili Temper: Blood-thirsty

Personality: There are two sides to Salyne. The one she shows to non-kalona or to kalona she wishes to fool, and the one she shows around only other kalona.

Around non-kalona, she acts like sunshine and smiles. Seemingly nice and a little soft-spoken. Some would also describe her as a little air-headed.

But that is only a front to get closer to those she wants to find weaknesses of. She pretends to be nice and sympathetic, caring even. And to those who think her air-headed, well, they would soon find themselves dead wrong. The only reason she might pause to answer a question or react to the other soquili is from trying to keep her composure. She would have to pause, freezing her face in the bubbly smile as her insides wretched with disgust over how the other soquili was.

But around those she does not need to hide her true self from, she lets her darkness seep through. Thoughts come fast and easy to her, rarely is she at a loss for what to do when it comes to battle strategy or dealing with the average soquili. It is what helps her to be able to rally her troops, to raise their moral in an epic speech. If she had a weakness in speech, it would be compromise. She is not trained in negotiations.

She takes her time to think through everything. The only time this is not found to be true is in the heat of battle. In battle, all thought is seared away and the instinct to kill an enemy takes over. The only thing that usually breaks through her battle raged mind is the voice of her officers. Telling her how they stand in the battle and advice on what steps need to be taken.

Thoughts on the current events: Salyne's main goal in all of this was to make the weak kawani filth remember how strong and magnificent the kalona race is. They might have lost all the ground her brethren died for, but the memory scorched into the minds of the Kawani means that it was not a true defeat. Yes, she finds herself having to retreat. And though the Lessor's believe them the victor, it is not the truth. She will build her forces anew with the help of Murgoth and her heir, Karmic. It might not be this year, or the next, but the Kawani will soon find themselves at the hooves of their attack once more. Stronger than before, fiercer and more determined then ever.

She will make sure there are no traitors this time. And if she ever finds the piece of sludge that betrayed them the first time, he will not have the chance to even suck in breath for the torment she knows he feels.

Additional Character Info:
~ She is used to being a matriarch and a leader. So she is used to everyone paying heed to her every demand. She does not tolerate back talk or insubordination. If someone does dare to change her in the least bit, she quickly reminds them of why she was alpha and strikes. Even to her family. Though lately, seeing a little bit of herself in her daughter has created a little bit of a soft spot and lets her slide with a few of the smaller remarks.

~ Anything less than pure kalona is only good as a slave. There are many types of slaves, but in the end, it is all the same.

~ To her, the smell of blood is like fresh baked cake. It both soothes and excites her. At times she could gorge herself on the rich taste, devouring it all in one gulp. At others, she drinks it slow; savoring it and the emotions of the beast it came from.

~ Being such a connoisseur of blood, she can tell by the scent of it if the being it belongs to is sick. Some times when she smells the blood of a sickened animal, she will let it live. She detests getting involved with an enemy/play-thing that won’t put up a good fight.

Quote:
The Ex-Protector

Username: Eauo

Soquili name: Murgoth
Soquili Temper: Ruthless

Personality: He is, in many ways, the epitome of a 'true' Kalona. He carries no love, compassion, or mercy in his heart and to him the greatest aspect of living is to hold dominion over others. The pain of others is a sweet nectar to his soul. He wishes for nothing else than to see the Kawani wiped from the land, but neither is he completely blinded, or made a fool, by his goal. Rather, he realizes it will take hard work and dedication, but he sees it as less of a sacrifice than a passion leading to him, and all of them, to their rightful future.

More than anything else, however, Murgoth believes in sustaining the purity of the Kalona bloodlines. After the war, however, he realized that it is possible for a Kalona to be pure in blood but corrupted in spirit, and this has revolutionized his views on what it really means to be a pure Kalona. One devoid of mercy for others, and especially for their enemies - one who does not falter when the moment comes to kill one's prey. He's seen many Kalona turn on their gods and their own people, already, and he will not ever tolerate such weakness to live near him, again.

He has no problem killing his own kind if it is necessary. Those who are too foolish to be of use will be put down. Those who are born weak in any way are put down. Child, mother, father, it makes no difference to him. Only the strong may be permitted to call themselves "Kalona" and only the strong have the right to breed, to populate the world with more of their kind that they, as a herd, may grow even stronger, still.

Simply put, Murgoth is a ruthless psychopath with a very calculating and cold mind. He is cunning and dangerously intelligent and will kill, in some cases, without any provocation at all.

Yet, despite this, Murgoth is in some ways surprisingly fair in his harsh way of dealing with those around him. He doesn't favor any one individual among the rest because of any trivial sense of affection or, even, family ties. Rather, he only ever recognizes those who are stronger than the rest, who rise above and show themselves to be worthy. In this way, any Kalona born from any other may have the right to stand at his side, regardless of age or sex, so long as they are able to maintain their strength.

After all, Murgoth does not suffer the weak.

Thoughts on the current events: He has been looking forward to the war ever since he and his mate found out about the Kawani's vanity and pride, and how they could ever possibly forget the might and terror of the Kalona. Such a thing was unthinkable to him, and raised in him a terrible sort of rage that flared and then simmered inside him like a hot, burning, coal.

When the fighting began it was the most glorious thing he'd ever beheld. The death-screams of the weak Kawani was the sweetest thing he'd ever heard in his life. The sight of his mate and offspring bathing themselves in he pain of others stirred in him a passion for his people he'd never quite felt until that moment. It was THAT moment that Murgoth realized that everything he'd ever believed of the Kalona -- the beauty of their ferocity, and the rightness of their ways -- was finally made true.

Then, when their own people turned on them Murgoth could not believe it, at first. How could it be that his own people could do such a thing? Except they weren't entirely his people. Many of them had been strangers called forth by Salyne to aid them in their war. Murgoth did not know them, had not weeded them out as he might have his own flock. And thus this planted a seed of rage in him directed toward the mare he'd called his mate for so long. How could her own tribe be so weak, so polluted and foul?

Yet there was nothing for them to do but the leave in the hopes of regrouping and starting over...

This time, however, Murgoth vowed to himself that he would oversee this new herd the right way. The Kalona way. No weak, foul, polluted Kalona would survive in their herd. They would weed out the infestation and rebuild, from scratch. It would take time. Years, perhaps, but the Kawani had not seen the last of them.

Additional Character Info: Murgoth has been somewhat suspicious and distrustful of Salyne ever since the loss of the war. While he realizes that neither of them could really have predicted the betrayal of their own people it didn't help that the strangers were of her tribe. If she hadn't been so impatient to move, perhaps, then they could have had time to weed out the weak. But they were her people, and so Murgoth had not really thought, at the time, to question it. Now he wishes desperately that he had.

The events of the war will harden him even further, if possible. But Murgoth does still have room to grow. Their losses have been great, and it has been a burden to his mind to think of Salyne as less than what he once believed. Because of this he has turned his attentions even more to his offspring, hoping that one of them will be as strong and pure as himself. It's possible that one of them may be, or perhaps his attention is too late coming.

The Son

Username: Thalea

Soquili name: Karmic
Soquili Temper: Manipulative

Personality:
He is vicious and unyielding, he was raised in a family that believed competition would bring out the true colors of Karmic and Kasha. He grew up knowing that he was the strongest of the children born of the Alpha and Protector and that meant that he would one day be the leader of the Great Clan. This knowledge lead him to have an air of superiority and entitlement surround him. Karmic wanted his kin to follow him and never question his orders, so he learned the art of words to manipulate those who would serve him. He is almost eloquent in his speech, he is able to make them feel that he can relate, when in truth, he cares for no such thing.

Death is fascinating to him, he kills squirrels and watches them as they die; their hearts continue to beat even when removed from the body a few moments after death and at time the body gasps trying to bring life to the already dead shell. Blood soaked his hooves and yet he could not bring himself to care or feel compassion for those he deemed as his Lessors.

There is only one person who knew all his secrets, which made her dangerous to him, for he knew he could love her and that caused him to have fear; he would kill her if he could, but it would cause mother to devour him, because it was his sister, the minion of the Alpha, that he wished to see dead at his hooves. Knowledge is power and Kasha had power over him; he did not let her know it, but every moment she lived it was like an arrow to the heart.

He is a psychopath, he has great temperamental differences such as impulsivity, erratic behavior, and fearlessness which leads him to seek dangers. Karmic has a high disposition for violence which he must constantly combat if he wishes to rule over the Lessors, this causes him to have a lack of empathy and he believes that he is the next great leader sent by the Great Kalona Spirit himself. Even though he is rash, he is calculating and will think things through to a point, for it is not in his nature to make mistakes, for mistakes get one killed.

Thoughts on the current events:
He is filled with an insatiable rage at the end of the battle; his mother was the one to start the call for retreat, the call of failure. There was no strategy to the call, they were betrayed and that cost them the victory in the end. Karmic knew that he should not blame his mother for the betrayal of one of his Kin, but he could not help his irrational behavior. He saw her as the beast who took away his familial right to be leader. Hatred filled his heart toward the Betrayer, he vowed to himself that he would get revenge. The urge to create his own herd, one that rivaled the Great Herd that his mother and father used to bring war upon the Kawani, grew inside of him; the young foul understood that he was not yet ready to lead, he needed to learn more in order to manipulate better. After some thought, the young kalona finally saw that this was all a trial from the Great Kalona Spirit; he sees this as an opportunity to earn the right to be the leader and prove that he is the true leader of the Kalona Herd.

Additional Character Info:

Karmic has some good in him, it is very tiny and almost non-existent. It can be kindled or completely destroyed depending on who the next soquili becomes close to him. He does not like to show that he has this small bit of hope in him for it is seen as weak, and he would rather die than have anyone believe him to be a Lessor.

Username: Insane Butterfly

Soquili name: Kasha
Soquili Temper: Misleading

Personality: Calculating, she is quiet and often greatly underestimated by others allowing them to believe she is weak and unimportant. Then when she has been cast so far into the shadows that no one gives her a second glance, she erupts into chaos, discord, and destruction. A fiery passion to prove herself to be above even her strong parents. The respect she held for her brother as a foal quickly diminishes as they grow older and a rift is created in their bond.

As adults they are each other’s worst rival. She vies to be seen as a most formidable foe in the eyes of anyone who crosses her path. She doesn't see her surroundings as something to be proud of. In her corrupted mindset she sees it as something to be cleansed, purified of the lesser races and to show them where their place should be. She would be more than happy to go about, wreaking havoc and mayhem, to watch the lands burn in despair under her watchful eye. She is much too dark and corrupted for her own good. It is very likely to be her downfall.

Internally she yearns for something, a small boon from her chaotic life to let her know it's worth the sacrifice, the bloodshed, and pointless death. Deep down, buried in the deepest part of her heart she hopes for just a little bit of good in her life, to remember innocence and purity. Sometimes Kasha recalls the little bit of light and it expands, but she quickly tampers it down, her corruption much too prominent to let it shine out. How could she be so weak?

Thoughts on the current events:
It should have been hers. Mother had said it would be hers. But no, everything was wrong. It had fallen apart in the peak of the battle. Flickered out like the light in the mortally wounded. How could it just....slip away?

Additional Character Info:
Darker thoughts bubble to the foals surface as she grows older, fights with her brother are more frequent and her outbursts are harder to tamper down. Seeing her brother makes her see red, the only thing keeping their battles from being fatal is their unwillingness to hinder their family line by killing one or the other.

The Story Continues

Their story:

They were not your typical family. There was no love between them and, in fact, love was seen as a weakness that needed to be squashed out immediately. The Alpha and her mate, the Protector, had recently discovered that the Kawani had forgotten their fear and their place, and they knew that such a mistake must be rectified. Thus, a vast army of Kalonas who were all loyal to her and her mate were summoned. They would retake what was rightfully theirs and strike fear into the hearts of the Lessors. The competition that had been forced upon Kasha and Karmic at a young age only became more intense from that point on; they were constantly at each other’s throats, trying to best one another and gain the approval of their parents. Only the strongest could hope to rule a herd as wild and powerful as that of the Kalona, and once the Kawani were rid of the earth their people would only grow.

The herd made their way across the barren lands to enter the lush vibrancy that was the land of Kawani; even the land had forgotten them. Bloody battles raged, and Karmic found himself wanting to fight, to aid his Kin in the war, to bring victory to the superior race. Murgoth did not care if his son entered the fray -- it was up to the Great Spirits to decide Karmic’s fate in the battle field. The young foal fought bravely among the Kalona, his enemy constantly underestimated him due to his size which cost his enemies their lives. Kasha aided the effort as well; using her quick mind, so similar to that of the Alpha, she collected data on the enemy about where they were regrouping after each battle.

It was the eve of the last fateful battle when the Kalona heard the words that they did not want to trust, but knew to be the words of the Gods themselves. They were to lose the battle against the Kawani natives. The Alpha and Protector decided that they would act against fate and still fight the bloody fight, for there was still a chance that they would win, that they would be victorious.

Death, destruction, and chaos raged as blood soaked the earth, painting the land red in the sacrifice of both Kalonas and Kawani. Individually the small family stood, looking over the carnage. They had lost. The Shaman was right in her words and the battle did not end in victory for the Kalonas. They were betrayed by their own Kin; those who had turned soft and felt sympathy for the Lessors. The great herd was broken, Saleyne and Murgoth no longer had control over those who used to follow them; the Kalonas were fleeing in groups away from the gory battle scene. Some ran toward the Kawani and others toward the old Kalona homeland in the far reaches of the dessert where no sane Kawani would travel; the Badlands.

In the end, the Protector found his mate standing atop a pile of bodies, her coat covered in blood. He cast his gaze to the Kawani woods where they would find their children in a similar state of disarray, just as abandoned. Yet they were not alone. The strongest of them had survived, and together they gathered what remained of their loyal forces and turned their backs to the Kawani. They would slip into hiding for now, a fierce vow that the earth would bleed red once more from their restored forces. The Kawani had not seen the last of the Kalona.

Any Plot ideas of what will happen to them after the great Exodus?:
LOOSE IDEAS!
- The family and what's left of the herd go back to the Badlands to regroup. Afterward they start weeding out anyone they feel is no longer strong/pure enough to continue with them.

- Salyne gets pregnant, but the father isn't Murgoth...! In fact, the father isn't even a Kalona! She claims she doesn't remember this happening, but it causes a stir among their family, and Murgoth's simmering distrust is deepened. In truth, the Shaman cast a spell on Salyne that she not remember being seduced by a regular Soquili. It is their hope that when the foal is born the result will sew distrust and anger in Murgoth which will rip the two apart.

- When the foals are born the truth becomes known. Murgoth, in a rage, demands a match with Salyne, claiming that she is a disgrace to the Kalona, that it must surely be her fault they lost the war. His accusations, likewise, enrage the Alpha and she agrees. The two fight, but are so evenly matched that a winner cannot be declared and they tie. Afterward, covered in mud, blood, and sweat, exhausted beyond belief, the two realize that they are evenly and well matched after all. They agree to rule the Kalona herd together, as equals, and their faith in the rise of the Kalona is strengthened. Meanwhile, the Shaman has stolen the halfbreeds to safety, and runs for his life back to the Kawani to tell them this terrible news. But all hope is not lost -- the children of the Alpha and the regular soquili may be the token of hope they've always needed...

- Karmic and Kasha are practically adults, now, and a clear Alpha has yet to be decided. Karmic, however, has had plans of his own since he was a foal and is ideas have only matured and grown sharper over time. He's always blamed his parents for the loss of the war. Now he is old enough to make his own way. He leaves the herd and sets off to form his own. Will others follow him, or is the dream he chases really a nightmare?

- Kasha --- As a young adult she sets out to witness other ways, learn different tactics and use them to her advantage. She vows to be much more powerful than her parents ever where. For what is more terrifying than a bringer of destruction? She hopes to hear her name whispered in fear through the Kawani lands.

- (This plot depends on how Elf feels. We were not able to get a response back in time but we wanted to add in the idea just in case) The Kawani hear rumors that the ex-alpha and her family have survived. But one brave soul refuses to let the past happen again. well, not entirely brave. They decide to hire the Brotherhood to search down the ex-alpha and kill what group they have obtained. In this plot, the Brotherhood accepts and start a search for the newly forming Kalona herd. In the case that the herd is found, a small battle is forged. A few npc of the herd or Brotherhood might even be killed off. It all depends on what stems from the talks with Elf.

- With many many more plots to follow<3.

All right, I'm sorry this took so long!

It was so hard, and I've read, and re-read, and discussed, and read some more.

But, I can only pick one. Thank you everyone for trying! I have one more RP contest I will set up tonight, and a raffle people can sign up for, too!

So, without further adieu, the winner of this twisted family is . . .
