Her exhaustion was physically painful. She had been walking for days, possibly even weeks, but she kept pushing herself further. She had to find help. If she didn't, her people would die, and what would be the point of that after all the hard work they had put in to surviving? She couldn't accept that fate for them, so she had left the mountains. She had packed as much food as they could spare, but it had run out and her luck at hunting had been poor. She was a miner, not a hunter. She knew the land, not its inhabitants. She trudged her way up a hill and her knees buckled. She went down, but she barely felt it. As she lay on the ground and struggled against sleep, all she could think of was that she was a failure and then blackness overtook her.
Azriel walked beside Industry, a bit of a limp and a cane slowing him down. It was frustrating to not be completely healed yet, but at least he was able to get around on his own and the pain was almost completely gone. "Liam said that the forest on this side of the town would provide us with the best lumber. He said the trees had very hard wood," he smiled a little.

Isambard was doing what he did best, keeping busy. The forge was almost complete and would be up and running soon, though it would need a greater supply raw materials to keep it functioning and to produce a greater yield, create greater things. Building materials were a continuing problem, tey had the quarry and had managed to build buildings, though now people needed furniture, the carpenters had come to him and asked him to source them some good wood.
He walked with Azriel, who was proving to be very useful and helpful. His broken ankle had been a set back but he was on the mend and the ball was once again rolling. "Excellent, apparently there is a god of Forest, I should probably ask him first but no one has seen or heard from him in a long while."

Az gave a light snort of laughter and glanced up at the god beside him. "Well, if he's going to be neglectful, then I say it's fair game," he smirked cheekily with a lifted brow. "I always say it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Besides, we can be careful about it. It wouldn't be wise to decimate the forest anyways," he smiled a bit and looked back towards the path as they came up to a drop off.

"Indeed." The god grinned, and this was why he liked the young man walking with him, they had a very similar outlook on the world and people in it. "Of course, if there is one thing I have learnt it's that you can well overdo things. What is that word people use in the modern age? Sustainability? We must be sure to plant what we take so that there is always a supply." Not something he would have ever thought about before the fading.
He started down the hill, spotting a figure towards the bottom. "Azriel, look at that." He said, hurrying closer, it was a girl, quite a small girl.

Az smirked and nodded his confirmation at Isambard's questioning. It was a fancy word, but a good one. He saw the crumpled body at the same time Isambard had. He watched the god rush forward and he followed after. When he saw it was a girl, he frowned a little and glanced around. There did not seem to be any sign of struggle or other's around them. Crouching slowly, he tilted his head a bit to look at her. She was very pale. Her white skin was smudged with dirt and grim and her platinum blond hair was tangled and looked dirty.
"Is she alive?" he asked, glancing up to Isambard.

Isambard crouched down and felt for the girl's pulse. It took him a moment to find and when he felt it it was weak. "Barely." He said, scooping her up carefully. "That healer that sorted your ankle, take me to her, she might be able to help her."

Az hurried as fast as he was able through the new town. He had set Talia up on a corner property. It was not an overly huge space, but there had been plenty of windows for light and several rooms she could use for various purposes. As far as he could tell, she seemed rather pleased with it. Leading Isambard with his precious cargo to the building, he stepped up to the door and opened it without knocking.
"Talia? Tal, we have a bit of an emergency," he called, resting his hand on Luna's head as she came up to him.

Talia looked up from the wall she was whitewashing and smiled at Azriel, her eyes quickly went to the god and the petite person he had in his arms. The girl didn't look well at all. "This way."
Isambard was pleased to see that Azriel had kept his word about populating his town with the useful, the shop certainly seemed neat and professional, he walked past the dogs and carried the girl into a room that had been set up as a treatment room. There was a bed, cupboards and shelves full of supplies and a couple of chairs by a desk. He set the girl gently down on the bed. "We found her on the road out. There is a weak pulse there."

Az followed them to the treatment room and hung back out of the way as he watched Isambard set the girl down. "Where do you think she came from? I didn't think there was anything out beyond that forest. Nothing but the mountains at least," he mused. "Do you think you'll be able to help her Tal?" he asked and glanced over to her.

Isambard stepped back to give the doctor room to work and nodded in agreement with Azriel. "The plains, the forest and then the mountains, they muse be several days walk from here, if not more."
Talia felt the girl's pulse and then her forehead. "I should be able to, the poor thing is exhausted, dehydrated and malnourished I would say. She looks like she might hail from mountains, she's small, that's typical of races that come from high altitudes, her skin is very pale too, almost as though she did not see much sunlight."

Az thought that over for a few moments, then glanced towards one of the windows. "Some of the older men told stories about people who lived in the mountains. I always assumed they were just stories," he mused and looked back at the girl, the gears in his head turning. "I guess I always assumed that everyone who was left in the area would have made their way here. Unless if she came even further than we think."

"It's a possibility."I am sure she will tell us when she wakes up. She certainly seemed as though she would have a story to tell, having traveled such a distance.
He watched the doctor as she got to work, setting up a drip to re hydrate the poor girl, he would imagine it would not be a quick process. "How long before she might be able to talk?" He asked.
Talia looked up. "It depends, it could take a couple of days for her to be fully responsive."

"Days?" Az smirked and folded his arms. He was curious now. He wanted to know where she came from now. Though obviously, he had no control over when the answers would come. Breathing in deeply, he let out slowly and gave Luna another pet. "I guess we could go back out to the forest and find the spot for the mill while we wait," he said to Isambard.

"yes, we'll do that and then return to check up on her. If you need anything Doctor, let me or one of my staff know." He gave the woman a nod of his head and turned to Azriel. "Let's get going then."

She felt warm. Warm and cozy. Sighing softly, Maia shifted in the comfortable bed and turned onto her side. She wanted to move closer to the fire. That was the best place to be when sleeping. But then she began to realize that the bed she was on was far too soft and there was far too much light for there to be just a fire pit. Frowning, she opened her eyes a little and glanced around. Where was she?
"Hello?" she called out in her heavy accent.
