Mt. Ferros Intermediate Rank, Levels 1 - 20 Home to Rock, Ground, and Fire Types Forming a border around the west and south sides of Armonia is a long mountain range known as Mt. Ferros. In truth, Mt. Ferros is a dormant volcano, known for its fertile red soil. It's also a primary source of ore for Armonia. Although it's been many years since the last eruption, that doesn't mean the inside of the volcano is any less dangerous -- Mt. Ferros is full of long, intricate caverns, with a temperature so hot that only Fire, Rock, and Ground Pokemon can navigate it without help. Other Pokemon must obtain aVial of Waterto withstand the heat for more than a few minutes. In an effort to encourage treasure hunters to bring in items for the Gracidea Trading Association, Kasimira has a special promotion going on at her shop, offering Vials of Water for free.

This was exciting. Freunde, after quite a few rounds in the forest, decided she was ready to tackle the interesting and dangerous Mt. Ferros. She had acquired her vial of water that was needed and kept it tucked away so she could use it further along in her journey when it got too hot to bear. If she could only find a Moonstone...then she'd be Ground as well as Poison and could bare the heat without breaking a sweat. Oh well...for now, she was focused on leveling up and getting stronger.
With a determined look on her face, Freunde stepped into the mouth of the cave, ready to explore and find a few trinkets as well.
Looking around the cave, Freunde realized this was going to be more difficult than she thought. The ground was already warm to step on, and she clutched her vial of water tighter to her side. This would definitely be needed, and probably sooner than she hoped. She pressed on, though, eager to see what this mountain had to offer.
Walking further into the cave, Freunde glanced behind her and watched the entrance disappear behind a bend in the tunnel. She let out a slow breath and glanced forward again. While she wasn't a Ground type just yet, being under the earth didn't bother her like she knew it did some Pokemon. It was almost like a second home, since she had grown up in a cave not too different from this mountain. It was smaller, of course, and not as hot, but just as dark and earthy.
As she walked, a peculiar shiny object caught her eye not too far ahead, sticking out of the wall. She tilted her head and drew closer to it, interested in what could possibly be so blue in such a red and brown place. With a bit of digging she extracted the odd rock from the wall. It was incredibly cold to the touch. Tucking it away for inspection later, she hummed and continued on her way.

Slugma
No sooner had she tucked her little treasure away, than a hot blast of air startled her. Just a few feet in front of her, camouflaged in the dark until it blasted a jet of fire in her direction, was a Slugma! She gathered herself and turned to face the slow Pokemon, eyes narrowed. It better not have singed her ribbons...there'd be trouble if it had.
Another blast of fire warded her off, though, and Freunde retreated just a bit so the slug could ooze its way along. Her ribbons had come out unscathed, so there was nothing more she could do than continue on. If harm had come to them, she'd have followed the beast and demanded an apology.

Zubat
As she backed away, she felt something flutter past her head. Turning sharply, she spotted a Zubat flapping its wings overhead, darting this way and that as it used its piercing voice to make sure it didn't run into anything. Annoyed, Freunde growled quietly and pressed her paws over her large ears. That hurt!
With her paws still clamping her large ears down, Freunde quickly moved further into the cave. Now that the Slugma had gone she didn't need to worry about upsetting it by stumbling over it. Once the Zubat's screeches died away, she let go of her ears and sighed. There...that was much better. High-pitched noses always made her blood run cold and her head hurt.
Not too long after the Zubat episode, Freunde found another one of the odd rocks. It baffled her how something so cold could survive in such an odd environment. Perhaps this would be fitting payment for the shop keeper that she had gotten the vial of water from, she thought to herself as she tucked the stone next to its twin. It was very odd, and maybe another Pokemon would want it. She certainly couldn't think of a reason she'd need it.

Zubat
After walking a bit more, a second Zubat screeched its way into the same tunnel that Freunde was in. With a louder growl this time, she turned to face the low-flying creature. She should teach this one a lesson so it would go tell its friends not to bother her anymore.
She did teach it a lesson, and she watched it fly away a bit wobbly after her Scratch to one wing. Satisfied for the time being, Freunde dusted off her paws and tightened her bows before starting down the pathway once again. Hopefully she'd find more items and less Zubats.

Numel
So intent was she on getting away from the Zubat, that she literally bumped into a sleeping Numel that she mistook for a rock in the darkness. With a startled bleat it got up, and she stumbled away in surprise as well. Hopefully she could make a clean escape! This thing looked grumpy.
Thankfully she was quicker than the sleepy Numel, who only managed to moan in disappointment at being awoken from its nap. Scurrying away, Freunde checked to make sure her vial and two stones were still sitting well. They were, although the water was slowly evaporating. She had about half a bottle left. Redoubling her speed, Freunde moved quicker to hopefully cover more ground before the water ran out.
