National Write a Novel Month (NaWriNoMo) The month of November is fast approaching, you know what that means! That's right. Its National Write a Novel Month! While this is a primarily fan fiction oriented guild, we do support writing and creativity in all its forms. That includes both fan-based and original works. So, this is our guild's very own NaWriNoMo support thread. If you are suffering from writers block, need feedback or advice, support and encouragement, to bounce ideas off someone, or just need a break and want a hangout or a distraction, this is the thread for you!

I have decided to do a fanfic this time around.
Stargate Avatar: The Legend of the Gao'uld.
I started that fanfic a while ago and got a few thousand words in when I decided I needed to really think about it. It's a good idea that I've never seen done right, so I wanted to make it into an epoch.
Sort of.
I've been writing an outline for it and damn it's long already.

The Drunken Jester I've been writing an outline for it and damn it's long already. Outlines make things easy, though. It might be long, but if you follow your outline and don't let yourself get sidetracked, you'll finish it in no time. You might even surprise yourself.

It might be long, but if you follow your outline and don't let yourself get sidetracked, you'll finish it in no time. You might even surprise yourself. It's more that I didn't realize how MUCH has to happen, or is going to happen. Most of my fanfics don't have a definitive ending, so they can basically stop just whenever I feel like it. This has a definitive end, when the gao'uld are defeated. It's daunting because I have to think of all the things in between. And there's a lot of it.

The way I write my stories usually is that I have a beginning and an ending, but no middle in sight. I agonize so much about how the hell I'm going to get the characters from where they start out to their final destination.

Since I usually have only the middle in my stories. I like to make the characters do stuff, but I don't usually have an end in mind. So... yeah. New experience, to know where the end is.

I've started writing several fanfics last year and I've never finished any of them. It's really disappointing. crying I want to be an author when I grow up too.

I've participated in Nanowrimo for three years in a row now (this is my third year entering) and I won last year. So, I'm planning on winning this year too. I'm currently writing a fanfic for the Canadian Cartoon, Cybersix that kinda takes place in the middle of the series and takes on the comic a bit more. Hmmm, I planned it at the last minute though so there won't be much to it to begin with and I'm just writing the story chapter by chapter until the end of Nanowrimo and then I'll go back and edit everything. I already have about 1,033 words for it so far. sweatdrop
